Don’t use Uber anymore they don’t care about customers or the drivers

stineytuls

Ubereats is the worst of all these services. They chronically deny refunds from people who steal your food. I only do pickup from ubereats and that's because my amex gives me a credit each month or I would never ever use it. I'm sorry this happened but you aren't alone at all. Not that empathy gives you a refund.

lsd418

You had a pin# and they were still able to mark the order as complete?

SubjectChemist2785

Just hit you don't have PIN

Comfortable-Fold-902

Easily

YourHighness1087

No

aputnam28

Somehow they did because I did have a pin that I never gave them

andre19977

We can mark orders delivered without PIN in the app

Zilkie

In those 10 mins he was enjoying ur meal ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Report him, check on the trips details and report him from there.

sajool

No he was calling her but since her phone number is different than the one connected to her account. She wasn't getting the calls and texts. After timer finish he got a free food because customer wasn't answering the phone.

aputnam28

I couldn't call him but I could definitely text him in the app and I was messaging him a lot and he was completely ignoring me.

Jaded_Cheesecake_993

Don't bother explaining yourself. Some drivers will pin the blame on the customers no matter what another driver did. I bet if a driver were to set your house on fire their would be other drivers on here blaming you for not "tipping high enough."

Phuzz15

Just chargeback on your card. Never received services you paid for. Uber has always been shit but lately is absolutely falling to pieces

Jaded_Cheesecake_993

From what I hear make sure you never want to use Uber again before you do this though. I've seen many people say Uber will deactivate your account if you chargeback your card.

Phuzz15

Absolute win

redditnearme

Uber only cares about increasing profits, so there are many bad actor delivery drivers. Uber, Doordash, and all the other tech apps are mostly unregulated and do whatever they please. The customers, merchants/restaurants, and delivery drivers are all exploited.

There are some very disturbed people in this world and count yourself lucky her was only in your life for a few moments. That is so wierd! Go to your card company and reverse the charges and services not received. So sorry that happened. I stopped driving for uber because their cheap and don't treat anyone with respect and disregard safety on all sides

aputnam28

It's great advice to consider myself lucky I don't normally have to deal with this guy. Thank you.

jcoddinc

He had to get close to start the waiting timer. Then once the 8 minutes runs out there's an option to complete the order without the pin. As far as Uber cares you weren't ready for delivery and the driver followed orders, even though they didn't.

aputnam28

They need to review the messages that I was leaving him and see that he was ignoring me if they're going to allow him to mark it as delivered that way.

jcoddinc

All these food delivery apps now operate on the basis of, "yeah, well what are you going to do about it? Probably nothing, bye."

KimJungUno54

Get rid of Uber eats

bleepingblotto

I wonder if the competition pays people todo these types of antics? I read that UE bombarded LYFT with 1000's of orders and then would cancel them. What are the qualifications to become an Uber Eats driver? No, there is no interview screening, mental evaluation, or reference check.

aputnam28

I just wanted to provide an update as to how this all got resolved. I asked for a supervisor and they told me one would call me back and they never did. Then the next day I asked for a supervisor again and they put me on hold for a very long time and then hung up while I was on hold. Later last night the final ticket I reported for the driver being unsafe was closed and so all avenues to getting a refund through Uber were shut down. I really don't think there's anything I could have done to get a refund for the food that was stolen. I am uninstalling the app and will never use Uber Eats for the rest of my life. I filed a charge back last night with my Wells Fargo credit card. I just got a notification this morning that the refund was granted to me and the dispute is closed. Thanks for all the comments.

EbbPsychological2796

Time for a class action lawsuit...

MoldbugBones

He likely repeatedly tried to call you but since you had a different number than the one on your account he couldn't reach you. The navigation in trailer parks specifically straight up doesn't work. It never knows where the trailer is. I've had over 3,500 trips and this exact scenario has happened to me at least a dozen times where the address wasn't correct or it was the address of the entire park and I couldn't reach customer so was forced to try to contact until timer ran out, I've even called support and they couldn't reach customer either. He was likely just as frustrated as you were, if he wanted your meal he wouldn't have waited the ten minutes (8 minutes required by the app). Of course there's the chance he stole it but honestly it's less likely since he waited ten minutes.

aputnam28

Maybe you didn't read through the comments but I had location turned on and he drove by my husband waving him down twice. The second time he smiled at him and accelerated speeding past him. I was texting him A TON and he was ignoring my texts. Also before he even started driving around the park the first thing he did was Park and stay still for 10 minutes straight (like I said ignoring my texts)

sajool

Change your phone number. Driver was actually calling you on your old phone number.

aputnam28

I never use ubereats but I got a 65% off coupon which is why I opened the app to order. I would update my phone number except I don't think I will be using Uber Eats anymore. If he wanted to get a hold of me he would have texted me back and also he would have stopped when my husband was waving him down. I think someone else was right that he was eating my food for the 10 minutes he was sitting still in his car a few blocks away before he even attempted to drive near my house.

sajool

That person maybe right or joking. But to me with over 20k deliveries I don't think he'll stay there for 10mn if he really wants to steal the food. He was most likely waiting for the timer that uber gives, when you try to contact customer and they're not available. And by the time your husband was waving his hand the food is not your yours anymore. Because timer is out.

aputnam28

He had already driven by my husband once. Then he marked it as delivered right after he passed my husband a second time. There's absolutely no way this guy was not trying to scam me out of my food and actually trying to deliver it to me. The numbers on these houses are enormous and I've never had a single person have a hard time finding me. I also had location sharing turned on.

sajool

I'm not defending him, I'm just going by what I think happened. But hey you maybe be right. I know there's a lot of drivers that steals food, this maybe one of those cases.

YourHighness1087

Story sounds fake AF, never in my entire five year delivery experiences have I Heard such a clownish story. I bet your name is "Karen" too. You have the option to confirm delivery with photo or pin.  At the very least you could dispute the charge back to your account.  Also if you are trying to leave a crap tip for an expensive order, I'd throw the food at you too. 🤷‍♂️ We aren't disposable little slaves, we have bills, insurance and car maintenance. I could be TOTALLY off my lane, but I just have a feeling...

aputnam28

I left over a $5 tip and the story is completely real and my name is Anna. I have no idea why he could mark it as delivered without me providing the pin but I'm guessing it has to do with how long he was driving around. I guess I am glad to hear my experience is not a common one people have because it was horrible.

JaneGreyDisputed

There's a way for us drivers to bypass the pin requirement in the app, just in case of...I dunno, emergencies I guess. I never bypass it and always get it from the customer. Anyway sorry that happened to you OP. Keep on support though, don't let up...and beware that chat support is terrible so you may want to call if possible. Either way ask for a supervisor immediately. And as someone else mentioned go into the app, into your orders and report the driver on that particular order, if you haven't already.

aputnam28

I reported them for a safety issue because of how they were speeding. That open ticket seems to be what every single person on the phone refers to when they say they can't do anything to help me because that ticket is open. In the text chat when I asked for a supervisor they say I am talking to the highest level that I possibly can which I'm sure is a lie. I will call again today and immediately ask for a supervisor at the beginning. Thanks!
