Do your cameras have IR LEDs that increase power demand after dark? Maybe that together with some motion triggers just enough draw to get over the notice threshold?
I temporarily had that issue with one of my Poe powered switches was connected to the wrong port of my udmse, however OPs is happening at or around 1am.
I don't know where op is from but a safe assumption would be the IR would have been on for a few hours already at this point no?
Edit: just re read and saw you mentioned motion. I never considered that motion detection would increase power draw but that makes sense also.
This particular switch has 10 PoE devices connected to it (a mix of cameras and access points) and lately every night around 1am I get a message saying the switch has exeeded it's total PoE availability.
Any ideas how to debug this?
How close are you to the PoE budget of the switch?
Cameras use more energy when the IR emitter is on vs off. Do you have a timed light that's turning off at 1am? Could also be a combination of a device doing an update over WiFi causing the access point to use more power with the camera's IR light being on.
I'd start by adding up the max PoE usage of the devices attached to the switch and compare that to the max power output of the switch.
I also wonder if they are all scheduled to reboot at the same time as well. My cameras have a maintenance mode option for automatic reboots to avoid issues from too much uptime. So if they are scheduled to restart nightly at midnight that could also cause the spike.
Yup, all this. The IR uses more power, and they also might be checking for updates or something at that time. The latter is probably very minor, but if it adds 1W per camera that could cause you issues.
I've been getting the same error for my flex at 0100, but it's only powered with poe+. I assumed it was going over because I have the raspberry pi that's connected to it to auto restart at 0100.
If you’re already at 75 W then you’re definitely going to exceed the budget once the camera IRs come on. What specifically are the PoE devices you have on there?
Realizing now I've got a Flex switch on there with a few other POE devices that's drawing \~17W. I've ordered a POE injector to offset the draw from that.
Hmmm, no idea where OP is or what their neighbourhood is like but I have a camera which fires its IR lights when the council street lighting turns off at 1am...
Most of this thread has made the assumption that it’s the IR, which it well could be.
OP, has this setup been working fine for a while? 6 months a year ect? If so it may be a light and now there is more power draw as many have said but it could also be a failing device pulling more power than it is rated for.
When I was playing with new reolink cameras yesterday, adding to my symbology, there was an option to reboot the camera each night at a certain time. Could it be that?

I was thinking a neighbor is charging their electric car via one of OP's POE ports. But yeah, your idea is more likely.

Log into your camera and force the ir light on. Take a look at budget

I would get the U-PoE++ injector for the Flex, otherwise you only get a 20 W budget on it.
This caught me on my original setup. Camera IR LEDs came on and exceeded 20W, and only some days. Adding a separate PoE injector fixed it.
I would put the biggest power consumer on its own POE injector
can u read out the individual demands after dark and then at the time of complaint?

Oh, should have bought the big boy! I run IP cams and my APs from the 150W 8-port switches. They get toasty!

There is the Ultra line now that goes up to 210W I think
The 150W's had 2 SFP ports too for under £150. Matches the equivalent Netgear product. The alternative Ubi's are much more highly priced now :(

IR from cameras increases the power usage once the light gets low enough. Probably this.
