Depends on your tastes ofc, but i'd recommend dropping the resolution by 10 to 20%. Can help a lot with performance while not affecting visuals too much for such a game.
Normally I'm playing at like, 30 FPS, with the exception of the last room in 7-4 where I'm at a crisp 15 or so, this is entirely the recording.
Also frame rate issues can cause some wonk ass mechanics like super jump dashing which can sometimes compensate when it comes to P-Rank time requirements
quick question, do you have decent framerates in 7-2 ? i can run pretty much anything perfectly fine but the second i kill the first gutterman and get in the open area everything just lags so much, was wondering if its just my pc being retarded for some reasons or if that level just has insane performance issues
for me it doesnt, weird... i heard the earthmovers on the background are actual full sized things, wish there was a mod to unload them cause that might lag out certain pcs

In case of you preferring it, you could play in psx mode to boost fps, And by that I mean lessening the resolution and applying the graphics infidelity settings. The game is designed to also be played like that, there's no loss in control by doing it.
Its probably something about their big ball dropping that messes with the piercing

Yeah, the first open air arena lags a bit, but it gets better after you enter the clock tower.

Yup 👍 only seems to happen when they're close together, as I have successfully done this in the other multi-Virtue rooms in P-2

I think it's not only a virtue problem, but a lot of piercing projectiles just shoot up after a certain amount of enemies pierced
