Try to remain near the edges of the arena , sometimes they end up falling down.
I had the same case happen , they died on their own , while i was having dragonball ass fight with mindflayers.
Was trying to take care of the mindflayers and when I was about to do the malicious railgun insta kill strat on a mindflayer about to use their orb attack, I got hit by two insurrectionists stones and then missed the parry on the orbs and died. So yeah it was kind of a personal skill issue because I forgot to dodge the insurrectionists attack which I saw 2 seconds ago and could've easily dodged but I didn't and ended up missing the party on the slow orbs but I'm just mad about it because of how close I was to beating my record.
Yeah , the railgun insta kill does need you to be accurate , thus forcing you to remain idle , while also having inssurectionists on your ass , it would be the better play to just screwdriver one of them so they don't follow you at the same time.
You could also do the 2-4 coin slab piercer tech to instantly suck majority of their health down.
i forgot to mention , but you could also parry their homing orbs , parrying gives stamina and they're fairly easy to parry which allows you to keep moving in the air more.

im not in a good mood fuck mindflayers they can go to hell i dont even feel down bad for them anymore i just want to light them on fire, i think i might send a job application to Hakita just so i can fucking delete mindflayers from the game, their not even balanced, wave 25 and 2 of them spawned at the same time like "OH WOW GAME, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT ME TO DO" like i swear to god i dont care what the context is if someone says the word mindflayer i am actually going to beat the shit out of them like for the love of GOD HAKITA WHY DID YOU ADD THIS HORRIBLE THING INTO SUCH A WONDERFUL GAME, i dont even complain about insurrectionists no ONLY the FUCKING MINDFLAYERS CAUSE I FUCKING HATE THEM SO DAMN MUCH I JUST WANT TO GRAB ONE AND SQUEEZE IT SO HARD THAT IT STARTS TO LEAK OIL AND ITS BODY BEGINS TO CRUMBLE AS IT SCREAMS ITS HORRIFIC SCREAM IN AGONY AS I FUCKING DESTROY IT. If I'm being completely honest they don’t fit into the lore even THE SLIGHTEST. Swordsmachines, built for war and gather scrap and parts from other machines to make themselves more efficient. To be honest I enjoy fighting Mindflayers. They're definitely the central enemy of whatever group they're in, but they're a good mix of tough and predictable to make them pretty reliable healing pools. Granted, I've only ever fought them in campaign levels on Standard, so I can't really argue with them being bitches in the cyber grind or on higher difficulties.
And say what you want about them being oversexualized, but you have to agree they're a LOT more interesting than yet another succubus enemy like practically any other developer would flood a Lust level with.
That last and first bit is true. They are fun to fight in CG (Even on brutal!) Though i've never had more than like 3 of them on me there so it might be more difficult with 5 of em or smthn idk
My High score is 51, and imagine my reaction when i see THREE sisyphean insurrectionists appear and all throw the same attack at me while i'm in the air.
My weakness in the cybergrind is when those DAMN FERRYMEN SHOW UP, like now I gotta be in the air EVEN MORE and if I get on the ground for a split second the ferryman’s spoon is gonna get shoved right up my ass

I shit you not I almost beat my record of wave 43 on standard but then wave 42 spawned 4 fucking Insurrectionists and 2 mindflayers

To be honest I enjoy fighting Mindflayers. They're definitely the central enemy of whatever group they're in, but they're a good mix of tough and predictable to make them pretty reliable healing pools.
