The best band out there

Kenzymac1

Yeah, they really are

baldinblue

They are comically talented. Best band in the land \mm/

DoctorFrog1986

Lol, this is the best description of the boys I've ever read. More or less sums up why Slacker is my all time favorite song. We need "Comically Talented" shirts and slaps 🤣

The-Narco-Saint

They blow my mind, every fucking time.

ThatsWhat_G_Said

Saw them at summerfest last weekend and was tearing up laughing with my friend about how good they are. Mostly about how it’s somehow always a new experience, and it was my 145th show…

The-Narco-Saint

And they somehow do this every fucking night. Bananas

UmphreysNerd

Summer fest was my 80th show and that Fugeela cover blew my fkn mind, they never cease to amaze me. Like how do they keep getting more talented? It’s inspiring and they’re always so much fun to see live.

Wooorangetang

That’s dope. I saw Umphrey’s for the first time at Rothbury in ‘09, such a sick spot to see music. One of the few bands that can take a big stage in the Sherwood and really send it.

SashaMSU42

"Can we get a round of applause for the opening band, the Grateful Dead? Those guys are going places."

sorry_ifyoudont

Those were some great shows!! Some of my first as well.

strutyourfluff

Same. This was such a great weekend!

Trojan_Maaaan

Same! First festival. Completely changed my life!

schladopian_fir

If you liked seeing them at a fest, just you wait until you see them at an actual show. Way better IMO.

blakeherberger

Their first set at scamp this year was better than any of the 30+ regular shows I’ve caught. That says more for the set than the indoor experience tho.

Oogly50

Scamp is an exception to the rule though because they always bring the heat when they play there. They don't headline it every year for nothing...

Space_Wrangler420

Yeah they always open it up and play “better” shows at summer camp. It’s their festival and it brings out the diehards. At like electric forest they know there’s more people there that have never seen them or are more casual fans so they tend to play some of their newer or more recognizable songs and don’t always jam out as much. Their theater or outdoor solo shows will always be the best way to see them.

schladopian_fir

That Attachments was wild

smokin-trees

Welcome to the club. They’re the best of all time and no one else will ever be as good.

SnuckaB

I dunno, King Gizzard fucking kicks ass all over the page

Ricksarenotreal

Different thing going on with them. Not wild jammers but incredibly talented.

TopTierGoat

God's amongst men \mm/

Themajorpastaer

That’s a killer show, listened to it yesterday at work. When I am rich, I am going to hire UM to play a show in my home town of Durango, CO and donate all the proceeds to my local animal shelter. I want to call it High Tails. When it happens, you’re all invited.

ScoonCatJenkins

Saw UM for first time at the Forest over a decade ago and am now at 50+ shows! Welcome!

Mysterious-Ship-2241

Saw UM for the first time at the fillmore detroit 2014. Same year as you and now I've seen them 52 times in 4 states lol

Demon-Prince-Grazzt

170? Rookie numbers.

tortugasumo

I’m going to miss a free local gig of theirs on an intimate stage bc of a gig I have that day. Pissed. Been wanting to catch them for Ike 15 years and never works out. Glad you liked it man. Hopefully I can catch them soon.

brat84

Love to hear it!

Ssleepyllama987

They crushed that set

Outside-Arachnid-689

Welcome to your newest obsession, sorry you’re joining us so late in the game

awesomecoolguy2

That was my 67th show. I gotta say they picked a perfect setlist for Forest. Also that last song was because someone held a huge totem up in front of Bayless requesting it and they just bam played it.

EitherStonedOrAtWork

Eh? They played the show as setlisted

goblue3_

Tightest band you will ever see.

InevitableConstant25

I'm sad because I haven't seen them in ten years and heard their fan base has died down. I'm just old and worked in venues so the allure of live shows died out.

SpartansATTACK

we were posted up near a bunch of folks who have clearly been around the block a bunch. when my crew showed up and set our stuff down during the show, the very first thing that this guy in front of us asked was if he was in our way. we showed up after him, but he was still concerned about whether or not he was in our way. that's good people right there

ThatsWhat_G_Said

They’ve peaked in popularity but their music is still incredible. They’ve been playing better this year than I’ve seen in a long time. Less chompers in the crowd and more intimate venues is fine by me.

spacefunkykitty_420

My first um show was also at forest! Changed my life. The best band & the best people \mm/

moook23

Ha dude UM is so sick. People either get it or they don’t. Jake phenomenal on guitar Myers is an insane drummer Bayliss great lyricist

partydanimull

I made last minute moves to the show since I live fairly close. I KNEW they were going to get some new fans from that one. It was so great to be back in the forest! One of my most memorable forest moments was when they played come as your kids in 2015 when I dragged my friend there to see them for the first time.

altermwim2

Hell yes. We will see you out there!

PapaJohnyRoad

Welcome!

SashaMSU42

I haven't been to that fest since '09 when it was called Rothbury. Never really get FOMO as the lineup is mostly Cheese and EDM but this year with UM, Biscuits, and PL I about cried having to miss it. Looks like a great set. Welcome to the club! What other shows are you gonna hit this summer now that you're hooked?

awesomecoolguy2

I just looked up the setlist and I see it is printed. I’m telling you though I was on the rail and these two dudes in pink jumpsuits obnoxiously busted through the crowed and held up the totem that said “come as your kids?” Bayliss had trouble reading it then gave a big shoulder shrug and kinda mouthed “sure?” So either they added it to the setlist retroactively or those dudes were big Umphreys conspiracyville.

allisonnosilla

One of us. One of us. One of us! Welcome to the dark side.

ToomanyWoos

They definitely mash - in a good way. Their shows are a constant building crescendo.

keystonesandtunes

That's awesome! I saw them for the first time in February. They were great, I'm so happy that I went and cannot wait to see them again.

RazorBladePeach

It was my first Electric Forest, but I've seen Umphrey's around 50 times. The jam scene was lightly represented, but it felt like the boys knew that they would need to give the EDM heads in the crowd something to enjoy. I told my friend group that they Boiz were going to bring us home down the stretch of the festival weekend. It was an excellent set list, and they picked the perfect song to end it to appeal to the younger crowd. They've been on a tear for the last couple years again, in my opinion. They've always been the tightest band on the planet, but they just seem to be having fun again, instead of trying to cater to a certain demographic. Welcome to the best modern day representation of Rock music!

SpartansATTACK

Jam and other live band genres have unfortunately taken a back seat over the past few years at Electric Forest. There was still some really good stuff this year though. Besides just Umphrey's, based on what I saw from Dumpstaphunk, Lettuce, Dirtwire, PL, and the Disco Biscuits, they all killed it (as well as String Cheese, of course. Bummer their big Saturday show got cancelled though). Still love the place though, although Hulaween seems more and more enticing every year

RazorBladePeach

Oh, for sure. I knew what I was getting into with "Electric" Forest. Ha. I've paid attention for years, but a friend of mine finally convinced me and my wife to go. We saw all the acts you mentioned aside from TDB, but there was plenty to enjoy, and even some EDM acts that were enjoyable. The experience of the Forest alone is worth experiencing, regardless of your musical taste imo. It's a magical place. 😊
