Not to be rude but I politely disagree. I haven't seen a single person that actively pretends that Chara and Asriel are alive, specially the entire fandom. I think you might be mistaking fanart and certain comics as the entire community believing and pretending that these characters are alive. Now this could just be me interpreting the image wrong so I apologise if I'm doing this to a certain extent.

Asriel is probably literally immortal again now that nobody is messing with his save powers, and Chara became a weird ghost - idk why they're different from ghost monsters, maybe not adapted to being a ghost yet or simply unwilling to show themself, but clearly able to possess things and talk to monsters because some actively respond to the narrator, so both characters can still more or less chill with other people even if not exactly alive

Asriel isn’t still alive, Asriel gave up the monster souls and human souls, at the end of true pacifist he says that his time is running out, and he isn’t on the surface, pretty cut and dry that he became Flowey again
