>cheap imitations
China also produces ballistic missiles, heavy launch rockets, nuclear submarines, supercomputers... which are not cheap in any context.
They make pretty much everything at every price point. As consumers we see mostly the cheap shit.
True that. You literally have to have someone on site the whole time as a QA. Because if you set up a process with certain material standards etc. and leave the factory will look for a way how to use cheaper material than what you contracted and try to get away with that.
Internet being the internet, there's an explanation out there. Aaand the real culprit was the bureaucrats .
>If you are performing civic duties and visit the kitchen of a local venue open to the public or for that matter in your own kitchen or the kitchen of family and friends it would be advisable to check that the flex on the kettle is short and secured to prevent the possibility of a kettle filled with boiling water being pulled of the work surface by a child or other person resulting in them being doused with scalding water that may kill or injure them.
>indeed, some years ago our house was inspected by the council to ensure it was suitable for child minding, the kettle flex had to be shortened and passed through a retaining eye securing it to the wall as part of the required improvements before approval was granted.
>It is somewhat more of a problem these days as most kettles are"cordless" with a base and a kettle that sits on top of it. Most of these bases allow spare flex to be rolled up inside them, however I would suggest in many circumstances it would still be sensible to shorten the "cordless" kettle flex to ensure that the kettle has to be at the rear of the kitchen work surface out of the reach of toddlers and many others reducing the risk of the kettle falling off the front of the work surface.
>Kettles on narrow shelves, ledges and the like should generally just be removed.
>I have seen the injuries that scalding causes and they can be horrific.
>So I would suggest that most kettles should only have a flex length of maybe no more than 200 millimetres.
>However in many cases I would suggest that 2 metres would be the minimum flex length for an appliance, not the maximum.
>Andy B.
> Most of these bases allow spare flex to be rolled up inside them,
Holy shit. How am I just finding out about this? Just went downstairs and it's true. The kettle's trailing cable has been pissing me off for years. Just rolled it up and it's nice and tidy for the first time in years.
having done business in China I know this is the way. You can order things to spec, but unless you have a person on the ground checking each step and you pay that person MORE than the cost of them to bribe them (even then they may take the bribe) you can still get ripped off.
It's a system people put up with because even if the good weren't to spec, they were so cheap compared to the US/Europe that business accepted the tradeoff. But now China is developing and wages are now to the point cheap goods can be built in the US using low cost of living/wage areas like the Appalicias at less cost since wages are LOWER in these areas than parts of China. So factory owners are buying up factories they put out of business and restarting them.

EDIT: to add a story I learned from a factory owner, He was having dinner with a tshirt maker, they were negotiating a mass order in the million order range, but these were free-bee give aways, so CHEAP CHEAP is the name. The final price, 80 USD CENTS, each. Even the chinese factory owner was astounded. How could he make margin? he couldn't, that was cost of goods and labor, BUT he could sell all the scraps from the production as new material for stuffing and that would be his profit. His profit he would take was the recycling of the material! That was the moment I learned the profit margin in China is something they will fight you on for hard and not to compete at that level of crazy.

Xi Jinping, the president of China, has been compared to Winnie the Pooh. So they are making fun of the Chinese president with what they are doing.
People in China have gone to prison for simply posting a meme about it. So dressing up in public would make you vanish like a fart in the air, as soon as the Chinese security services got their hands on you.

Yep, they will produce things to the spec set by the buyer. Hyperbolizing everything helps nothing.

It started after a meeting with Obama in 2013, I think. But this video is probably from 2018 or 2019.
IIRC they compare Xie as Winnie and Obama as Eeyore. Winnie stuck cause Xie made such a fuss about it.
Obama was Tigger. Shinzo Abe (PM of Japan) was Eeyore.

Can you explain this? I don't get it. Looks like a standard convention to me. Nothing noteworthy happening.

I was quite lost, as well. I'm VERY far out of this loop. I had no idea what the hell was going on or what anyone was talking about.

Whoa this is crazy. Pretty sure this is Shibuya a couple years ago on Halloween! I know this because I jobro'd it up with those cosplayers that night!
Can someone explain why he is brave to be wearing a Whinny the Poo costume?
Theyre mocking the dictator of China
It's Japan, not China.
The president of China, Xi Jinping, is very sensitive about being likened to Winnie the Pooh.
I’m glad I’m not the only one.
China is about to go to war with this convention.
In that this is actually Shibuya during Halloween a few years ago, you're not wrong about china wanting to go to war with them...
You gotta bring all your friends around when there’s a Pooh that big.
Just having jojo characters standing there makes this so much funnier to me.
