I hope if he signs it’s after the season though. It would suck if the NFL just started plucking people up in-season. It would be good as a message that you can possibly make to to the next level. Bad for the quality of play if people have to stop playing mid season.
The NFL training camp starts in July, so there isn't a conflict with finishing the UFL season.
I'm guessing many UFL players will be in NFL training camp fighting for a roster spot. It would be pretty silly to not finish the UFL season unless you are offered guaranteed money, which isn't very likely.
I know folks are going to worry about injuries, but you would be leaving like 50k on the table by not waiting 2 months to sign with an NFL team.
I’m assuming that if someone signs with the NFL, it’s in the best interest of the player (and the NFL) that the player stops playing in the UFL. The players are risking injury. We already see players opting out of college games as is.
For the most part, but I feel like kickers and punters are the exception. Injury risk is low, so go get those live game reps while you can.
Especially in this case, where the guy has played 1 game since high school, I’d definitely want to see him keep kicking for the rest of the season if I were an NFL team. Both for his own practice and to make sure he’s not a one game wonder.
Contract will run for the season and have an NFL opt-out after that, I'm sure the Lions (and others pursuing) want to see a larger sample size before putting down a guarantee... but I could see the Lions doing a futures contract now if they could, so that would be interesting if they can tag/dibs a player while they finish the season out.

I gotta figure for a kicker it's fine to let them kick. It's barely more dangerous than practicing.

Doubt anyone would be signing based off of one great play. Might be reaching out for a tryout, but I’m betting they’ll want to see more reps first
Two great plays
Franchise tag him immediately
I googled him up before, he had a tryout at camp for the Buccaneers in 2023. No idea what happened with that.
I think that will depend on the contract details with the UFL.
He's obligated to complete the UFL season. After that, he's free to entertain other offers.
Why? They're just gonna go for it every 4th down
I detect no lie here.
Knew this was coming. A lot of kickers in the UFL looked better than their NFL counterparts this past weekend.
Part of that is inevitably less pressure due to 1/10th of the fans but also a lower quality rush from the defense
How is he outdoors?
We will find out soon enough
As if Campbell is going to kick on 4th
McCrane will probably get some offers soon he was good last year too
This is the reason we watch spring football.
It's April something and no one has caught on yet in this thread.
Maybe because the article is from yesterday? When it wasn't April Fools?

There's always some time zone dope who does it on March 31st and says it's already April first in tahiti or whatever.
You're looking silly out here
Thoroughly acknowledged
