If you have never seen your fps drop below 240 I think its more likely you just haven't been paying attention to your fps counter.

I have a 13700k and 7900xt playing at 1440p low and it drops below 200 at times too. Pretty sure the GPU can handle valorant at 1440p low, most likely an optimization issue on cpu side.

This is exactly why I think people overrate the double ban you get from coming in through the upper bracket, the fact that the team you are facing has lost a game and had a chance to learn from the loss is massive. Then you add the fact that you might have to beat the same team twice and the double ban becomes relatively small.

The noise cancelling has always been bullshit, there's no way if you're sitting in front of a stadium with no double cristal/wall that you would not hear the audience because of some headphones. It's an absolutely ridiculous claim, and I had people here arguing otherwise. I literally got a bachelors on sound recording and been working with sound for 10 years. If Riot cared, they would have to make double cristal booths for the players, they just don't want to spend the $.
Players have been saying for a while now they can hear the audience roar, and it gets difficult to hear game sounds on stage. Somehow, Riot employees are like "no bro". Almost seems like they test the setup with an empty arena and think that it's the same.
Dota TI still uses them at every event, its not simply a fire hazard reason, valve made a long post about the complexities of designing a booth that fits the demands of esports, thats likely the main reason.
Cost savings can be a reason too, in the blogpost they say it costs them $200k+ for properly designed booths. That's not something esports can spend on. Do you think Seattle of all places has a weak fire code?

Sometimes it works better than others. Last champs for example you could tell the players couldn't hear the crowd very well. They were reacting to foot steps in ways players normally cant on lan and c0m was able to get away with all these clutches because the crowd noise didn't reach the players well.
In champs specifically Saadhak shot smokes and got kills because of the crowd. If you see the backstage vids of PRX Alecks is malding they didn't tuen around after hearing the crowd, he said "if I can hear them they can hear them".

I wish more esports would do those booth things CSGO tourneys used to have seemed pretty practical and I actually didn't think it looked bad. Maybe riot is trying to have the crowd be part of the sport like a real sport but I don't think it works in video games where hearing is so important, works fine for like fighting games tho.
Hearing is super important in real sports too, especially American football. Quarterbacks try to change the play and their teammates can't hear them. They have to move to a silent count for snapping the ball too. It's a huge disadvantage.

The booths are apparently fire hazards in many countries and simply not allowed, and Iâve heard many CS pros talk about how theyâre really not all that great in terms of cancelling out the noise due to the way theyâll shake if they crowd is loud enough.
I've always liked them and to me they just make sense. I guess they take a bit of work and money to setup, to pass all fire inspections/regulations, to have them around the world, etc. This more silent ambience would also make it easier for the referee/player communication in case it's needed.

Kyedae and boaster both have said that they couldn't hear anything, except when a teammate spoke and the noise filtered through there. The earbuds they have are hella solid, I don't think this is true tbh, many of these messages seem like excuses, no hate tho, but he may be exaggerating to try and get more compassion. Like there were a lot of geng fans, I was there.

Those booths are horrendous. Pros want to hear and interact with the crowd. The energy you get from playing in front of a crowd is eliminated when you're in a box. They will never have them.

When I watch an esport like Dota that use sound proof booths itâs just so lame. i can actually confirm meteor's comments on the noise cancellation here since i got to use all the same gear on stage after one of the days of the events. the in-ears were pretty good but i could still hear people talking near me. i'd imagine with a crowd, you could probably hear the roar of the crowd pretty clearly albeit without understanding exactly what they were saying. potentially to compensate, the in-game and vc volume were really turned up by default but i don't think would have mattered very much
I was there for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, everywhere we were sat we were surrounded by SEN fans, but there felt like a decent amount of us cheering for PRX and Gen G, I didn't hear any booing or shit like that, might feel a bit different on stage though. The noise after the final kill on map 5 when SEN won was insane.

Noise cancelling booths have historically been mostly cosmetic afaik ; they were initiated after an alleged crowd cheating moment inside a small/cramped TV studio the early 2000s in OSL in Korea fail (SC: BW) - they introduced the headset over earbuds thing around them too

It has. There were issues with shipping booths internationally. So for out of US events, Volvo dropped them. But this year they were there. Reading their blog gives a good insight on why it maybe not the best solution. Certainly not for every TO. They're not cosmetic but doesn't give 100% protection either.

I was in the crowd for the finals and thb even tho the crowd wouldn't go as mad as they would for sentinels everyone would cheer and clap after each GenG clutch and play. Whenever someone would start shouting "GenG, GenG, GenG", the arena would shout it too. The only time I would agree would be for the last map especially the last round where the crowd went feral every sentinel round win. But I didn't hear anyone booing or any insults towards GenG.
I was in the crowd both days that GenG played (Friday and Sunday) and was trying so hard to cheer them on my throat still hurt on Tuesday. I was really hoping the GenG players might hear it :(

i think this version of SEN doesnât fit the villain persona SEN historically has. The EMEA teams were dead, the crowd wanted someone new to latch onto. Sentinels and TenZ happen to be the most popular team/player in Valorant and had a great story. Plus as much as we bitch about NA vs EU stuff all the time, it's always been a sibling rivalry (outside of toxic ass reddit comments) where we usually root for each other over Eastern teams. Usually because it's easier to connect to them. I'd totally expect an NA crowd to root for Fnatic over Gen G or DRX or whoever too, with the exception of PRX because they're more popular in the West than other Pacific teams, due to how fun they are obviously and also communicating in English so their content is easily digestable.
Yeah this. If I buy tickets for finals and my team doesn't make it let's say I was KC fan, I would go for SEN because they are more popular/likeable, has tenz/zekken and a lot of history whereas GenG are quite new.
Think about this: most diehard DRX/GenG/T1 Fans are Korean. And besides from not being a very big population, Sentinels as been in Valorant longer, decent amount of Spaniards can understand English as opposed to Korean, Tenz being back, their storyline.
SEN are more a global team than an NA team imo, this is reflected in the players on the team coincidentally, kind of like how premier league football teams have fans all over the world I guess.
I think there would still be a pretty heavy amount of support for tenz if Sen make those events, tenz was irl streaming with kyedae in Japan a while ago, and the dude got stopped every few minutes because fans wanted a picture with him, he also had a heavy amount of support during the valorant event he did a few months ago with something in Japan, THEN, the afrecatv event had a lot of tenz fans, I think itâs safe to say that tenz is pretty popular in Asia, I donât doubt that there would be a good amount of sen fans there.

2 Masters events and Champions in Korea. The teams that finish top 3 in playoffs for Split 1 will qualify for Shanghai. Similarly, the teams that finish top 3 in playoffs for Split 2 will qualify for Champions and the remaining spot will go to the team with the most championship points.
A team will get one point if they've won a match during the regular split or playoffs in both splits. The winners of kick off in all regions have already attained 3 points. Sentinels got an additional 3 points for winning Masters Madrid, so they have 6 points in total
What part of it is cope? Sentinels have also complained about the PC specs. He also admitted that GenG likely lost due to inexperience with losing, which is true. It was a close series.

The noise cancelling has always been bullshit, there's no way if you're sitting in front of a stadium with no double cristal/wall that you would not hear the audience because of some headphones. It's an absolutely ridiculous claim, and I had people here arguing otherwise. I literally got a bachelors on sound recording and been working with sound for 10 years. If Riot cared, they would have to make double cristal booths for the players, they just don't want to spend the $. Players have been saying for a while now they can hear the audience roar, and it gets difficult to hear game sounds on stage. Somehow, Riot employees are like "no bro". Almost seems like they test the setup with an empty arena and think that it's the same.
I think I heard something about CS TOs doing away with them because those booths are a potential fire risk

Dota TI still uses them at every event, its not simply a fire hazard reason, valve made a long post about the complexities of designing a booth that fits the demands of esports, thats likely the main reason.

Sometimes it works better than others. Last champs for example you could tell the players couldn't hear the crowd very well. They were reacting to foot steps in ways players normally cant on lan and c0m was able to get away with all these clutches because the crowd noise didn't reach the players well.
In champs specifically Saadhak shot smokes and got kills because of the crowd. If you see the backstage vids of PRX Alecks is malding they didn't tuen around after hearing the crowd, he said "if I can hear them they can hear them".

I meant crystal booths in the middle of stage, you can still see them, like LCK used to have and some CS:GO events, iirc some other esports used to have them to.

Maybe riot is trying to have the crowd be part of the sport like a real sport but I don't think it works in video games where hearing is so important, works fine for like fighting games tho.
Hearing is super important in real sports too, especially American football. Quarterbacks try to change the play and their teammates can't hear them. They have to move to a silent count for snapping the ball too. It's a huge disadvantage.
It is important no doubt but it's still playable with worse sound and because of they are so used to it its different imo. Like there is never a point in time where you play with little to no sound in football right? But val is literally only on Lans where its like this, I feel like even in the regional studios its quiet cause they are so small.
The booths are apparently fire hazards in many countries and simply not allowed, and Iâve heard many CS pros talk about how theyâre really not all that great in terms of cancelling out the noise due to the way theyâll shake if they crowd is loud enough.
I've always liked them and to me they just make sense. I guess they take a bit of work and money to setup, to pass all fire inspections/regulations, to have them around the world, etc. This more silent ambience would also make it easier for the referee/player communication in case it's needed.

Kyedae and boaster both have said that they couldn't hear anything, except when a teammate spoke and the noise filtered through there. The earbuds they have are hella solid, I don't think this is true tbh, many of these messages seem like excuses, no hate tho, but he may be exaggerating to try and get more compassion. Like there were a lot of geng fans, I was there. When kyedae played it was the loudest, so if she didn't hear anything I doubt the players did...
Jumping to accusations of Meteor fishing for pity/crying crocodile tears is crazy. That guy is one of the nicest and most humble players in the scene. Especially after another dude who literally tried the same gear onstage said it was possible.
Those booths are horrendous. Pros want to hear and interact with the crowd. The energy you get from playing in front of a crowd is eliminated when you're in a box. They will never have them.
Sound booths defeat the purpose of lan IMO. I agree the noise cancelling is bullshit and it sucks that thereâs no good options. When I watch an esport like Dota that use sound proof booths itâs just so lame. Iâd be curious whether the majority of players prefer the tradeoff of shit audio and potential crowd cheating for the added hype.
i can actually confirm meteor's comments on the noise cancellation here since i got to use all the same gear on stage after one of the days of the events. the in-ears were pretty good but i could still hear people talking near me. i'd imagine with a crowd, you could probably hear the roar of the crowd pretty clearly albeit without understanding exactly what they were saying. potentially to compensate, the in-game and vc volume were really turned up by default but i don't think would have mattered very much

I was there for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, everywhere we were sat we were surrounded by SEN fans, but there felt like a decent amount of us cheering for PRX and Gen G, I didn't hear any booing or shit like that, might feel a bit different on stage though. The noise after the final kill on map 5 when SEN won was insane.

Noise cancelling booths have historically been mostly cosmetic afaik ; they were initiated after an alleged crowd cheating moment inside a small/cramped TV studio the early 2000s in OSL in Korea fail (SC: BW) - they introduced the headset over earbuds thing around them too DotA 2 doesnât have them anymore afaik Edit; they do again but I think theyâre the only ones(?)
It has. There were issues with shipping booths internationally. So for out of US events, Volvo dropped them. But this year they were there. well with booths they did use the headset over earbuds as well, im sure it helps double layering like that from what ive seen on some of international matches comms but then again full noise cancelling is impossible + it could be madrid gear just that ass. and Dota 2 still does that on their biggest tournament (The International) basically dota version champs, and some of their majors as well not all, we'll see if this year they gonna still use the booth Then again i just hope gear is more of a priority on organizer, especially on game like valorant where split second information and fps are very crucial.

I do question this, because historically pros have always said the noise canceling was so extreme on stage that players couldnât actually hear the game audio properly due to the white noise they play underneath.

I was in the crowd for the finals and thb even tho the crowd wouldn't go as mad as they would for sentinels everyone would cheer and clap after each GenG clutch and play. Whenever someone would start shouting "GenG, GenG, GenG", the arena would shout it too. The only time I would agree would be for the last map especially the last round where the crowd went feral every sentinel round win. But I didn't hear anyone booing or any insults towards GenG.

I was in the crowd both days that GenG played (Friday and Sunday) and was trying so hard to cheer them on my throat still hurt on Tuesday. I was really hoping the GenG players might hear it :( I haven't watched the streams back so I hope they at least saw the sign T-T And I hope Karon's okay, he did so well. That 1v3 and then 2v5 on Breeze was insane by him.

At the very least the two superstars in Zekken and Tenz are really hard to dislike and donât have the arrogance you would expect from them. Sacy is chill. John and Zellsis talk back but donât really overdo it. In comparison to Dapr Shahz and Zombs itâs a big change in persona
I actually think Zellsis is pretty wholesome too, yeah he gets excited during the matches but it seems like outside of it he's friendly with everyone and I haven't heard of any pro say they dislike him. Heck even Pancada, who would have a fairly valid reason to not like him, gets along with him well.

The EMEA teams were dead, the crowd wanted someone new to latch onto. Sentinels and TenZ happen to be the most popular team/player in Valorant and had a great story. Plus as much as we bitch about NA vs EU stuff all the time, it's always been a sibling rivalry (outside of toxic ass reddit comments) where we usually root for each other over Eastern teams. Usually because it's easier to connect to them. I'd totally expect an NA crowd to root for Fnatic over Gen G or DRX or whoever too, with the exception of PRX because they're more popular in the West than other Pacific teams, due to how fun they are obviously and also communicating in English so their content is easily digestable.
Yeah this. If I buy tickets for finals and my team doesn't make it let's say I was KC fan, I would go for SEN because they are more popular/likeable, has tenz/zekken and a lot of history whereas GenG are quite new.
Think about this: most diehard DRX/GenG/T1 Fans are Korean. And besides from not being a very big population, Sentinels as been in Valorant longer, decent amount of Spaniards can understand English as opposed to Korean, Tenz being back, their storyline.

Honestly the venue experience wasnât that great imo. I waited 30mins to get food between games on the weekday (they had 3 places to serve, but only one was working), and on the finals they were out of any food by the 3rd time and we couldnât leave to get our own food, so had to starve for 3 hours âšď¸. Now pro having issues with their pcs. Looks like Riot is saving costs in general. I liked more the Palacio Vistalegre that held league worlds in 2019, which seemed bigger too.
Meh I had a great time at the venue. Food yeah that sucks but, it was sold out, I'm not surprised. Likely not Riots fault but the venue not prepping well enough. Vistalegre is quite far out of the center (I lived here almost 4 years) and public transport there isn't as good.

2 Masters events and Champions in Korea. The teams that finish top 3 in playoffs for Split 1 will qualify for Shanghai. Similarly, the teams that finish top 3 in playoffs for Split 2 will qualify for Champions and the remaining spot will go to the team with the most championship points. A team will get one point if they've won a match during the regular split or playoffs in both splits. The winners of kick off in all regions have already attained 3 points. Sentinels got an additional 3 points for winning Masters Madrid, so they have 6 points in total

It doesn't feel like he's trying to excuse anything and I'm confused as to what led you to read it that way. People have been asking what happened to led GenG to lose such a close series, and he's providing his answer. Some of those things are out of their control (Karon's nosebleeds, PC specs) and some of them are in their control (inexperience and mental).
I don't even think its that, i think the interviewer or whoever meteor was talking to just asked him about geng's experience throughout the tournament which is why things like Karon's nosebleeds , the pc lagging and the crowd being biased is not COPIUM or excuses (and I'm a SEN fan btw).
