Saadhak asking if there was poison inside 😭😭😭

[удаНонО]

hushmentalFPS

What happened in istanbul

TheCatsActually

A ton of people got the shitting disease. At first they assumed it was from food so everyone was afraid to eat but iirc it turned to be something with the water.

hushmentalFPS

Oof

Key-Banana-8242

Yeah skill osie, peopel who travel regularly to these parts usually are about the tap water quality

WhoDatBrow

Meteor might have been trying to remove the competition you never know

cFl4sh

You can never know, so Pai ain’t risking it

DeludedDassein

can someone explain the pai meme to me

ThatCreepyBaer

saadhak old man, teammates young whippersnappers.

DeludedDassein

is PAI like a character then? is it related to the 3.14 kd meme?

ThatCreepyBaer

It just means father in Portuguese.

DeludedDassein

I see, thanks

charizardino

i would 100% ask that haha

Taek99

Another event where pros complain about the pc specs. When will riot ever learn?

THYL_STUDIOS

actually tenz and zekken said they had to switch to stretch because 1920x1080 can't do stable 240 like are they reusing pcs from first strike

MakimaGOAT

1080p and not being able to consistently hit 240 for events like these is wild

CoachWatermelon

That’s literally like 4th gen intel i5 levels bad

TripleShines

Eh I have a 13900k + 3080ti and I drop under 240 sometimes. As far as I can tell its normal.

CoachWatermelon

On 1080p? Something wrong bro

TripleShines

Is it? I think FPS just varies a lot in Valorant. I get 900+ in the range, typically upwards of 500-600 in games but I have definitely seen it drop below 240. If you have never seen your fps drop below 240 I think its more likely you just haven't been paying attention to your fps counter.

1soooo

Yep shooting people in viper ult with some other ults slammed in definitely does that. I have a 13700k and 7900xt playing at 1440p low and it drops below 200 at times too. Pretty sure the GPU can handle valorant at 1440p low, most likely an optimization issue on cpu side.

6jeewon

I run a 12700k and a 4070ti my game virtually never dips below 300fps on 1440p low. Dipping below 200 with those specs is tragic

1soooo

It does, like what the other guy said. U just didnt notice it. Just run a session of outplayed recording and play viper, buy judge during the round where you have ult and 3 other enemies have ult. Watch as you drop below 200 fps whenever u fire your judge.

ThatCreepyBaer

Don't think I've ever had my FPS drop below 240 except maybe if lots of abilities were being used around me and I have a worse rig than you do.

baebushka

i get 300-400 on 2k p easily. 6700xt and 5600x idk how riot isn’t hitting 240 on 1080p

Any_Guest1674

you drop sometimes but pros like tenz , zekken said they couldnt even hit 240 fps consistently meaning either that pc is like cheap as shit or either its very poorly optimized for example bro just remove that 3080 youll still get like 210fps+ if its optimized. i have like a 4yr old cpu with no gpu on a thin and light laptop (15wTDP) but i still do get like 150 fps i think riot should work on it its actually wild not hiting 240 consistently on a masters event

zirgiz

Bro i play with a 3060 and i have 500 fps😭💀

pewpewpunk

bruhhh what...

Selldrudd

What res did they play on? I often have issues similarly on lan PC's but noticed that their res wasn't native on the replays

Hopeful-Professor-40

If the most popular player and MVP of the event are playing on stretched that’s gotta mean something to them

okuzeN_Val

Weird how they can't be consistent with it. They can probably even find a sponsor to provide high end PCs if they don't want to pay for it for some reason, fuck it ask Starforge or someshit

Cobblar

If this is really a problem, literally every single player at the event should be throwing a fit until it gets fixed. The PCs have to be 0.01% of the budget of the event. This is the easiest thing in the world to get right.

zirgiz

Tenz complained a lot about fps dropping, especially on four controller maps. Apparently it would drop to double digits sometimes and he was really tilted at the beginning of the event

2Maverick

It's crazy because I know it's happening in Challengers too. I've been watching it because my favorite Korean streamer joined a pro team and he says the frame drops are too crazy. I feel like it's a server issue and not a hardware one.

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

the mental warfare from zekken. unintentionally kevin garnett levels of shit talking just by being wholesome

dabong

either zekken is the biggest meteor simp or this is some jordanesque '93 mental warfare against barkley. >The day before game 4 of the Bulls Suns finals with the Bulls leading the series 2-1. Michael and Charles Barkley went golfing. They played 48 holes of golf. And Michael bought Charles a $20,000 diamond earring. Johnny asked MJ, “what did you do all that for?” Michael responded, “he won’t get in my way the rest of the series, what’s $20,000 to me? Charles thinks we’re great friends. I hate that fat f—.” Jordan dropped 55 in game 4 and Barkley never touched him once.

6jeewon

this is a notorious chain email and isn't an actual true story for those who don't know

Key-Banana-8242

Oh ok xd

MichaelZZ01

Holy shit lol

Key-Banana-8242

Bro

ImmaPsychKid-

My life is better after reading this fact. WTF man.

yammer_bammer

its not a fact, just a hoax/coax/rumoar

Mortimier

it's a fact to me

StockTasty

Ngl i rather think that zekken is just a meteor simp but i might be biased lol

yalikewater

Like when Meteor mentioned not being experienced to losing. It closely parallel what Kaplan said, if it weren't for their loss against Geng in the upper finals, they wouldn't have won this tournament.

Quick_Chowder

People were trying to say GenGs loss in group qualifiers was 'getting tested'. A really meaningful loss and the pressure that comes with actual elimination matches is way bigger than any domestic group loss. Unfortunate but yea they needed that kind of mental test before a grand final.

Nikclel

Eh I'm not sure how true that is. If Lotus and Sunset don't get banned it might have been even more lopsided with Split as the decider, plus they'd have to rematch PRX.

Key-Banana-8242

Yep that’s what I thought too

Mythic-Fuzions

This is exactly why I think people overrate the double ban you get from coming in through the upper bracket, the fact that the team you are facing has lost a game and had a chance to learn from the loss is massive. Then you add the fact that you might have to beat the same team twice and the double ban becomes relatively small.

TemplarParadox17

Yea but the team that lost also have to go down and play multiple more maps showing their strays to be anti stratted.

TripleShines

The ban seems strong but I doubt it is nearly as strong as a bracket reset + a day in between to prepare.

Bulky-Lettuce1664

so wrong lol

Gunstador

Yeah same thoughts

nterature

Fun details, a little concerning about Karon's nosebleeds though? Hope that's not something that continues throughout the year. Also a bit funny seeing his comments on the noise-cancelling not working, since Leo spoke at length in the Riot press-conference about how they feel as if they've truly hit their stride when it comes to preventing players from hearing outside noise.

-xXColtonXx-

Probably from the flight. It can totally happen.

Firm-Telephone2570

This happens to me, I have to use a nasal spray now when I fly because dealing with the bleeding on a plane is quite annoying, and also probably kind of disgusting for the people sitting next to me LOL

MagicCarpet5846

Or stress.

Gunstador

This happened to me once but after getting off the flight and having it many times doesn't sound normal.

sebaba001

The noise cancelling has always been bullshit, there's no way if you're sitting in front of a stadium with no double cristal/wall that you would not hear the audience because of some headphones. It's an absolutely ridiculous claim, and I had people here arguing otherwise. I literally got a bachelors on sound recording and been working with sound for 10 years. If Riot cared, they would have to make double cristal booths for the players, they just don't want to spend the $. Players have been saying for a while now they can hear the audience roar, and it gets difficult to hear game sounds on stage. Somehow, Riot employees are like "no bro". Almost seems like they test the setup with an empty arena and think that it's the same.

Splaram

I think I heard something about CS TOs doing away with them because those booths are a potential fire risk

TemplarParadox17

Booths have been phased out of all esports cause of fire risk…. There is a reason none use them anymore

smannyable

Dota TI still uses them at every event, its not simply a fire hazard reason, valve made a long post about the complexities of designing a booth that fits the demands of esports, thats likely the main reason.

Yon2k

Not really, TI11 didn't have booths for both groups and finals.

smannyable

The one in Singapore which valve was having massive logistics issues dealing with? If you read their blogpost about the booths they talk about that.

TemplarParadox17

Brother you gave one example. Cod, cs, rocket league all used to have them they removed them all around the same time for a reason.

smannyable

Cost savings can be a reason too, in the blogpost they say it costs them $200k+ for properly designed booths. That's not something esports can spend on. Do you think Seattle of all places has a weak fire code?

UsedCondom42

You don't read shii. The blogs did tell us about TI in SG.

sebaba001

It's such a silly reason, though. Just don't make doors lockable, have them be push doors like most sound studios, have 2 of them. When was the last time an esport event caught fire on stage?

Objective_Hospital98

CN stage caught on fire this season actually

Away_Inspector71

My favourite clip was when Boaster killed like 2-3 people blindly through smoke with the judge. And then said in the interview that he heard the crowd going wild so he knew he had to shoot. The amount of competitive advantage it gives is insane.

sebaba001

I misremembered it being saadhak, it was boaster right?

rpkarma

Yeah it was haha. The BR crowd gave it away that the players were close to him in the smoke

Away_Inspector71

Ah yes my bad.

sky_blu

Sometimes it works better than others. Last champs for example you could tell the players couldn't hear the crowd very well. They were reacting to foot steps in ways players normally cant on lan and c0m was able to get away with all these clutches because the crowd noise didn't reach the players well.

sebaba001

In champs specifically Saadhak shot smokes and got kills because of the crowd. If you see the backstage vids of PRX Alecks is malding they didn't tuen around after hearing the crowd, he said "if I can hear them they can hear them".

sky_blu

I didn't say they could never hear them, but if you watch those games thinking about sound you could tell its minimal

thet0m0

i think it's more that they want the fans to see the players, y would u watch if u can't see the players, at least that is how i interpreted wat u said, riot could put them in a booth but then those watching would just be watch partying

sebaba001

I meant crystal booths in the middle of stage, you can still see them, like LCK used to have and some CS:GO events, iirc some other esports used to have them to.

ArmpitSniffa

The International for Dota 2 uses booths every year

Notladub

notably, the krakow major had those

TripleShines

Do you watch for gameplay or do you watch to see players?

Successful-Coconut60

I wish more esports would do those booth things CSGO tourneys used to have seemed pretty practical and I actually didn't think it looked bad. Maybe riot is trying to have the crowd be part of the sport like a real sport but I don't think it works in video games where hearing is so important, works fine for like fighting games tho.

Routine_Size69

Hearing is super important in real sports too, especially American football. Quarterbacks try to change the play and their teammates can't hear them. They have to move to a silent count for snapping the ball too. It's a huge disadvantage.

Successful-Coconut60

It is important no doubt but it's still playable with worse sound and because of they are so used to it its different imo. Like there is never a point in time where you play with little to no sound in football right? But val is literally only on Lans where its like this, I feel like even in the regional studios its quiet cause they are so small.

Jakewakeshake

The booths are apparently fire hazards in many countries and simply not allowed, and I’ve heard many CS pros talk about how they’re really not all that great in terms of cancelling out the noise due to the way they’ll shake if they crowd is loud enough.

sebaba001

I've always liked them and to me they just make sense. I guess they take a bit of work and money to setup, to pass all fire inspections/regulations, to have them around the world, etc. This more silent ambience would also make it easier for the referee/player communication in case it's needed.

Reflex_0

rhythm piquant connect far-flung deranged aware spark command teeny steep *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

superadri_darks

Kyedae and boaster both have said that they couldn't hear anything, except when a teammate spoke and the noise filtered through there. The earbuds they have are hella solid, I don't think this is true tbh, many of these messages seem like excuses, no hate tho, but he may be exaggerating to try and get more compassion. Like there were a lot of geng fans, I was there. When kyedae played it was the loudest, so if she didn't hear anything I doubt the players did...

curryhalls

Jumping to accusations of Meteor fishing for pity/crying crocodile tears is crazy. That guy is one of the nicest and most humble players in the scene. Especially after another dude who literally tried the same gear onstage said it was possible.

BriefImplement9843

Those booths are horrendous. Pros want to hear and interact with the crowd. The energy you get from playing in front of a crowd is eliminated when you're in a box. They will never have them.

ItsSmittyyy

Sound booths defeat the purpose of lan IMO. I agree the noise cancelling is bullshit and it sucks that there’s no good options. When I watch an esport like Dota that use sound proof booths it’s just so lame. I’d be curious whether the majority of players prefer the tradeoff of shit audio and potential crowd cheating for the added hype.

lilacandflowers

i can actually confirm meteor's comments on the noise cancellation here since i got to use all the same gear on stage after one of the days of the events. the in-ears were pretty good but i could still hear people talking near me. i'd imagine with a crowd, you could probably hear the roar of the crowd pretty clearly albeit without understanding exactly what they were saying. potentially to compensate, the in-game and vc volume were really turned up by default but i don't think would have mattered very much

pewpewpunk

maybe different LAN conditions

Satzuisbae

Yeah i hope karon gets checked in the hospital.

Uncas0

The nosebleeds are probably from the very dry weather of Madrid. It has happened to me as well

MrPain__

I was there for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, everywhere we were sat we were surrounded by SEN fans, but there felt like a decent amount of us cheering for PRX and Gen G, I didn't hear any booing or shit like that, might feel a bit different on stage though. The noise after the final kill on map 5 when SEN won was insane.

FulGMD

I wasn’t there but when watching the stream you could always hear people cheering whenever sen got a kill, Zekken getting a 4k? crowd goes nuts, Karon clutches a 1v3? not that much cheering. I think that’s what Meteor is talking about. edit: typo

nightsy-owl

Lock In cosplay lmao

FulGMD

slightly crazier when you consider that loud was at homeground but sen wasn’t edit: typo

philbro550

But sen is probably the biggest fan base, they are like a global team, wherever they go they will have tons of fans

Objective_Hospital98

SEN finally using their fanbase for good even dominating international events. zekken is such a nice guy for someone who has the skills to be arrogant. they really got to fix the specs, SEN was also complaining about it.

Razannell

No noise cancelling? bruh Bad pc specs for fps game? bruh 2x man i still wish other esports use Dota 2 style international team booth for better noise cancelling at least for big official events like this...

Key-Banana-8242

Noise cancelling booths have historically been mostly cosmetic afaik ; they were initiated after an alleged crowd cheating moment inside a small/cramped TV studio the early 2000s in OSL in Korea fail (SC: BW) - they introduced the headset over earbuds thing around them too DotA 2 doesn’t have them anymore afaik Edit; they do again but I think they’re the only ones(?)

TheUHO

It has. There were issues with shipping booths internationally. So for out of US events, Volvo dropped them. But this year they were there. Reading their blog gives a good insight on why it maybe not the best solution. Certainly not for every TO. They're not cosmetic but doesn't give 100% protection either. https://www.dota2.com/newsentry/3675555405719286536

Razannell

Wow very interesting article, didnt know they used noble gas like argon for those booths holy shit.

wagglez1

They had the booth at the last ti.

Razannell

well with booths they did use the headset over earbuds as well, im sure it helps double layering like that from what ive seen on some of international matches comms but then again full noise cancelling is impossible + it could be madrid gear just that ass. and Dota 2 still does that on their biggest tournament (The International) basically dota version champs, and some of their majors as well not all, we'll see if this year they gonna still use the booth Then again i just hope gear is more of a priority on organizer, especially on game like valorant where split second information and fps are very crucial.

cryptomelons

It would have helped.

Key-Banana-8242

I think they meant the cancelling was too weak

AntibacHeartattack

Dota 2's event production is mostly a joke, but those booths should be an industry standard.

MagicCarpet5846

I do question this, because historically pros have always said the noise canceling was so extreme on stage that players couldn’t actually hear the game audio properly due to the white noise they play underneath.

ThatCreepyBaer

Hope he doesn't downplay himself at all because this guy is a crazy player. The fact that he went from almost a Jett one trick before this year, with classic Korean Jett feast or famine, overheat problems to a much more calculated duelist player and even a great sentinel flex? My goat right here.

kosantyy

he’s so wholesome 😭

ilovecats30000

Zekken so wholesome AYAYA

Wikki8

I was in the crowd for the finals and thb even tho the crowd wouldn't go as mad as they would for sentinels everyone would cheer and clap after each GenG clutch and play. Whenever someone would start shouting "GenG, GenG, GenG", the arena would shout it too. The only time I would agree would be for the last map especially the last round where the crowd went feral every sentinel round win. But I didn't hear anyone booing or any insults towards GenG.

Hazman2710

Meteor too precious!!🥹

obigespritzt

I was in the crowd both days that GenG played (Friday and Sunday) and was trying so hard to cheer them on my throat still hurt on Tuesday. I was really hoping the GenG players might hear it :( I haven't watched the streams back so I hope they at least saw the sign T-T And I hope Karon's okay, he did so well. That 1v3 and then 2v5 on Breeze was insane by him.

ScenarioArts

I LOVE METEOR

Onionflux

That's actually crazy how they haven't had much experience in dealing with losses since they don't lose in scrims

Pandoara

Zekken with that one-sided love 🥲

HLumin

Speaking of the crowd, why were there so many Sentinels fans? I would understand if the event was hosted in the America but Madrid? I was so surprised honestly.

Objective_Hospital98

Tenz is the face of Val, he seems to be the default outside of your own region

inclore

Definitely, even the PRX boys were so excited to meet Tenz in their first international. The guy is a living legend that is impossible to hate. "I have no enemies" type of vibe fr fr.

Objective_Hospital98

i think this version of SEN doesn’t fit the villain persona SEN historically has. At the very least the two superstars in Zekken and Tenz are really hard to dislike and don’t have the arrogance you would expect from them. Sacy is chill. John and Zellsis talk back but don’t really overdo it. In comparison to Dapr Shahz and Zombs it’s a big change in persona

panna_qq

I actually think Zellsis is pretty wholesome too, yeah he gets excited during the matches but it seems like outside of it he's friendly with everyone and I haven't heard of any pro say they dislike him. Heck even Pancada, who would have a fairly valid reason to not like him, gets along with him well.

2Maverick

Facts. Zellsis seems wild, especially because of his stream clips of him screaming, but he actually controls himself so well and seems like a chill guy with leadership qualities.

ammarbadhrul

Yeah, even when sentinels were in their villain era, tenz was never once easy to dislike. Dude’s just humble and kind the whole way to the top

Dysmo

Prolly because Sen beat KC, plus sen is probably the defacto team they'd support since they're the most popular.

WhoDatBrow

The EMEA teams were dead, the crowd wanted someone new to latch onto. Sentinels and TenZ happen to be the most popular team/player in Valorant and had a great story. Plus as much as we bitch about NA vs EU stuff all the time, it's always been a sibling rivalry (outside of toxic ass reddit comments) where we usually root for each other over Eastern teams. Usually because it's easier to connect to them. I'd totally expect an NA crowd to root for Fnatic over Gen G or DRX or whoever too, with the exception of PRX because they're more popular in the West than other Pacific teams, due to how fun they are obviously and also communicating in English so their content is easily digestable.

Gunstador

Yeah this. If I buy tickets for finals and my team doesn't make it let's say I was KC fan, I would go for SEN because they are more popular/likeable, has tenz/zekken and a lot of history whereas GenG are quite new.

animebae1233

Think about this: most diehard DRX/GenG/T1 Fans are Korean. And besides from not being a very big population, Sentinels as been in Valorant longer, decent amount of Spaniards can understand English as opposed to Korean, Tenz being back, their storyline.

SaiWind

I'm guessing a lot of people were invested in their storyline

Pojobob

It's also a Spanish crowd so when TH got knocked out, I guess they just banded around SEN.

Massive_Cut5361

SEN are more a global team than an NA team imo, this is reflected in the players on the team coincidentally, kind of like how premier league football teams have fans all over the world I guess.

cowzapper

It's why I'm looking forward to Shanghai and korea. The Americas/EMEA cheering against all my apac and Chinese boys feelzbad

WLFYBBY

I think there would still be a pretty heavy amount of support for tenz if Sen make those events, tenz was irl streaming with kyedae in Japan a while ago, and the dude got stopped every few minutes because fans wanted a picture with him, he also had a heavy amount of support during the valorant event he did a few months ago with something in Japan, THEN, the afrecatv event had a lot of tenz fans, I think it’s safe to say that tenz is pretty popular in Asia, I don’t doubt that there would be a good amount of sen fans there.

cowzapper

For sure but not over GenG or PRX (or EDG in China). It won't be as bad as it is here with the "0 fans" but i would like to see my boys on stage where they're getting support instead

WLFYBBY

Doesn’t geng have some beef with china or something? But anyways, I’m not saying Sen are gonna be the crowd favorites, but I don’t think the crowd will be as one sided as Brazil usually is or as Madrid was even though I feel like there was a good amount of pacific fans I heard throughout the tournament.

kkxed84

Geng is gonna have a harder time winning crowds in Shanghai. Champions will be their moment to shine.

jumb01337

sentinels are the most known team why are u surprised lol

Key-Banana-8242

SEN city is large

AdTraditional8018

Wait why did this make me sad now. Even thou I was a sen fan, I hope they win the next masters

Fun_Age1442

i dont sen goes two for two match fnatic

ammarbadhrul

They will get their comeback in champs, im sure. GenG with a homeground buff will be insane

VCGood

Munchkin did a terrible job at trying to get the crowd on their side. Waving at the enemy team early match is villainous shit.

Cole_James_CHALMERS

needs to take lessons from Karrigan, man almost always gets the crowd on his side

FulGMD

fr, if he decided to face the crowd and ask for more cheering on their side it would’ve been better, but waving at the crowd favorites from the get go? yeah that doesn’t sound like a great idea if you want them to cheer for you.

a-nswers

as a neutral viewer going into the matchup munchkin's antics made me a fan immediately, it was hilarious. the problem is the crowd was already heavily leaning one side, so obviously they would just feel antagonized rather than seeing the humor

ArmpitSniffa

It's what made me root for GenG tbh, SEN are notorious for trash talk and BM but their fans were acting like some bitches when GenG did it, the hypocrisy was hilarious

demars123

SEN used to be notorious for trash talk. These days it’s pretty much just Zellsis.

[deleted]

And the entire org, and the entire fanbase.

JiangIsWrong

Even TenZ did it? 🫣

kittysrule18

Fans cheer for their team and don’t like when the other team shows disrespect? I’m shocked, I tell you

ennaemes

my goat ☄️

-AlphaEcho-

No noise cancelling???

Hot_Adhesiveness_710

people are trying to justify it but meteor has had experience knowing how noise cancelling feels but went out of his way to specify that there was none even though he's had experience with the tech, idk. Maybe its a translation error or something.

cryptomelons

I didn't think it had much of an impact, but since they said it did I don't doubt it did, especially on the first four maps.

chelswak

Does anyone have a clip of munchkin trying to get the crowd to cheer

andudupandudu

Munchkin approach towards getting the crowd was totally misunderstood. Or maybe Meteor is biased towards his teammate. And as a fan I could hear a lot of cheers for GenG in the first map, what is he talking about?

Hianor

I knew it's mentality thing cause literally feels like the whole arena is cheering for sentinels and sentinels is definitely have that extra big of strength cause they both their love once even the producer is really pushing the sentinels story like sentinels haven't won in 3 years tenz slump like bro even pacific haven't won anything but still Gen.G did great despite this is their first grand final .

LesbianAkali

Honestly the venue experience wasn’t that great imo. I waited 30mins to get food between games on the weekday (they had 3 places to serve, but only one was working), and on the finals they were out of any food by the 3rd time and we couldn’t leave to get our own food, so had to starve for 3 hours ☹️. Now pro having issues with their pcs. Looks like Riot is saving costs in general. I liked more the Palacio Vistalegre that held league worlds in 2019, which seemed bigger too.

Zestyclose-Today-300

Meh I had a great time at the venue. Food yeah that sucks but, it was sold out, I'm not surprised. Likely not Riots fault but the venue not prepping well enough. Vistalegre is quite far out of the center (I lived here almost 4 years) and public transport there isn't as good.

1v1trunks

Lmao

Jedjk

that munchkin part feels like cap. we all saw his trashtalking and taunting, didnt look at all to me like ‘seeking encouragement from the crowd’ at any point lol

turtsy__

I think a lot of this is lan inexperience combined with riots insufficient tech, you're gonna end up with biased crowds but ideally the noise cancellation would work. Riots PC specs are pretty concerning considering this is the 2nd year of franchising. Someone get karon some nasal spray And saadhak asking if the Korean candy sounds uncharacteristic for him and I really hope that was a misunderstanding/miscommunicated because wtf

DumbBinchBrooke

Really? I feel like Saadhak saying it jokingly is pretty characteristic for him

Imperial1645

I’m pretty sure what saadhak said is perfectly in line with what he would usually say lol

Reason-Fun

Ok but it's not the crowds fault for cheering. But why tf wouldn't they have noise cancelation?

SuperDayPO

I’m sure they did. Main problem is that no amount of noise cancelation can cancel out something low-frequency and loud like a crowd cheering. Even with perfect headphones or a booth i’m sure you could still probably feel the noise on stage if the crowd was loud enough.

Reason-Fun

True, but I hope he isn't just saying that as an excuse.

[deleted]

I’m not a fan of how many excuses were made here, justified or not. It discredits their opponents and downplays their accomplishments by making it sound like GENG only lost due things out of their control In reality their schedule was way easier, they had an extra day to prep over SEN and they even got the advantage in the grand finals with the map vetoes Yes unfair things can happen. But did SEN have no issues? Was everything perfect for them? Meteor should’ve just taken the high road

teethingdog

Tbh when I posted it, I didn't expect ppl to focus on his comments on the peripherals/crowd lol. I actually never thought of these complaints as excuses since he acknowledged that the team's inexperience in handling losing situations was a major reason as to why they lost, which was evident from the way the team crumbled in Map 5.

Key-Banana-8242

Sucks kinda the crowd advantage, and close people by being unequal for the teams I really feel like u could see them fall apart second half of icebox, a real mental thing Respect to them for getting there in face of all

JustKaleidoscope1279

Fr bro but imagine if geng ever had to play TH 💀 their mental would be 100x worse then

LSPandaa

They’ll win an event this year. They showed they’re capable and put in the hard work but just needed that experience, I mean they made it to map 5 of a grand finals in their first international as a team

What happened to the white noise that Riot normally uses to League? Since for most of League’s history they’ve refused to use booths they always went with the headphones. For some reason I thought I remember the first Valorant Masters in Reykjavik having the white noise headphones and players complaining on stage since they weren’t used to them but could be totally misremembering

Maou2K

could someone please explain this year's competitive events' system and how it works? how many LANs this year and how teams in different regions qualify for those? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

teethingdog

2 Masters events and Champions in Korea. The teams that finish top 3 in playoffs for Split 1 will qualify for Shanghai. Similarly, the teams that finish top 3 in playoffs for Split 2 will qualify for Champions and the remaining spot will go to the team with the most championship points. A team will get one point if they've won a match during the regular split or playoffs in both splits. The winners of kick off in all regions have already attained 3 points. Sentinels got an additional 3 points for winning Masters Madrid, so they have 6 points in total

BriefImplement9843

Lotta excuses. Very odd for a Korean player.

Floydy1724

To me he seemed like he got ahead of himself and didn’t focus enough on the fact they might not win Madrid lol

RedXWasHere

Yeah it's basically what we assumed- GenG had issues with experience, it definitely won't happen again. Korea takeover mere events away

RedXWasHere

Also fucked up that rmr/pgl quals or whatever had issues with PCs and Madrid also has PC issues.

ilovemaaskanje

Wow after reading all of this I wish geng won...

walker128

Insane amounts of cope here, imo

fanficmilf6969

What part of it is cope? Sentinels have also complained about the PC specs. He also admitted that GenG likely lost due to inexperience with losing, which is true. It was a close series.

Initial_Selection262

Bruh he listed like 5 different excuses. He might as well have said the sun was in their eyes as well

walker128

But that's exactly it - most of the stuff he's complaining about are either just factors of big international tournaments or something Sen also had to deal with. Might just be a different cultural vibe, but to me losing a series like that and immediately listing all the stuff that didn't go well just comes across as excuses and cope. No malice meant, they played a fucking great series/tourney.

Zarathos-X4X

So their problems will only be valid if they won? Karon having Nosebleeds is cope and excuse? Having PC problems which can affect player performances is Cope? Yeah Both sides Were affected but doesn't mean its not a Problem. He admits the inexperience lost them the series and thats actually the only thing that Set them Apart. Stop acting edgy

fanficmilf6969

It doesn't feel like he's trying to excuse anything and I'm confused as to what led you to read it that way. People have been asking what happened to led GenG to lose such a close series, and he's providing his answer. Some of those things are out of their control (Karon's nosebleeds, PC specs) and some of them are in their control (inexperience and mental).

Eclipse_Blade

I don't even think its that, i think the interviewer or whoever meteor was talking to just asked him about geng's experience throughout the tournament which is why things like Karon's nosebleeds , the pc lagging and the crowd being biased is not COPIUM or excuses (and I'm a SEN fan btw).

Key-Banana-8242

I disagree it’s being honest abt feelings or experiences,

walker128

Fair enough.

wittlax

This is copium. Just take the L and move on

PewPew267

They beat all of EMEA’s best. Crazy. I think GenG atleast get one this year. Shanghai or maybe Champions at home turf would be more poetic .
