This one. Definitely recommend adding the pepper to the outside (the one without was for the kids). Also added about a tbsp of mustard powder to the seitan after reading the comments on the video. Hands down the best vegan “lunch meat” I’ve ever had. And SO much cheaper than buying it premade! About $5 worth of ingredients.
Yes! You can cut the fermentation time if you keep your oven light on (warms the oven) and let it rise in there. I fed my starter at 10pm the night before, made the dough at 9am the next morning, cut and rolled hoagies at 1pm and then baked them at 6pm.

Awesome thanks! I’ve been making some lately on a recipe I found online but mine did not look this amazing! Gonna try this today.
I’ve stopped buying any pre-made fake meat. It’s so cheap, easy and fun to do it yourself.
Homemade tastes MUCH better! And I’m a cheap ass too. I’m not spending $15 on a salami roll that tastes like cardboard. I made these, about 2lbs, for around $5 and they taste amazing.
Yes! Even made the mayo, Italian and giardiniera (make a gallon jar every few months). We try to eat as clean as possible. I spend a LOT of time cooking.

Awesome! I'm gradually starting to make more and more basics from scratch. They taste so much better, much cheaper, and I feel good feeding them to my family. ❤️
Thanks for the recipe!
I agree! They take a lot more time to make fresh but can easily be made in larger batches and kept in the freezer for another meal. Even the seitan freezes perfectly! We have a family of four, my fiancé, two teenage boys and myself, so we can throw back some food. I make big batches for leftovers and freeze a lot. It usually gets eaten before it makes it to the freezer but the times that we do, it reheats very well.
Very cool! I love it! My mother and father were given this same set when they married back in 1979. My dad died when I was a year old so having something that was even somewhat close to him makes me happy. My fiancé bought me the matching mixing bowl for Christmas and I’m in love with it. Can’t beat the quality of vintage Corelle!
It’s like any new hobby, just takes a little practice. Once you try it, you’ll be hooked. Not many things smell as good as a house smelling like fresh bread.
I started baking regular loaves of bread in the smaller pans before working up to the full size loaf pans. I have an amazing white bread recipe with simple ingredients. You can also substitute a cup of the flour for whole wheat to make a mixed loaf, which is how I make our regular bread. After that, I started playing with sourdough since it was a little more work and commitment.
You're so right, especially about the smell. My mom used to make banana bread and it always made the house smell amazing.
Pumpernickel will be my goal!
I’m 100% vegan. I’ve done foster and rescue for dogs, cats and wildlife for 18 years. If I make a sandwich out of something that looks like animal meat, that somehow make other vegans assume I’m not against animal cruelty? Wild! I guess I can’t please everyone.
Which salami recipe did you use? It looks perfect!

Do you by chance have a recipe you can share for those hoagie rolls? They look great!

My mom and grandma had those same dishes.

I inherited all the baking dishes from my grandmother. I don't have the plates or bowls though
That’s awesome!

That looks amazing. Marry me, please. My husband will understand when I show him this picture.
😂 Sorry, my fiancé and our kids would starve to death! I can send you some recipes, maybe send you some good 2 year old sourdough starter.
That's very sweet of you to offer <3 I do need to try making my own bread. It's not something I've tackled before.

Why make vegan food look like Meat if you are aganst animal cruilty?
I’m 100% vegan. I’ve done foster and rescue for dogs, cats and wildlife for 18 years. If I make a sandwich out of something that looks like animal meat, that somehow make other vegans assume I’m not against animal cruelty? Wild! I guess I can’t please everyone.
