Wow never noticed this ...

Didn't there used to be one called The Discovery? Not sure if that still exists. It used to cruise from Laskin Rd up towards the Chesapeake Bay.

The harbors of Virginia Beach are all elitist local haunts(looking at Lynnhaven bay) , or tourist traps(looking at Rudee/owl creek). There’s no market for classy, deep draft 4 hour cruises in VB, because the shoaling in those two bodies of water prevent a large pax vessel from reliably making it out to open water and the sea state is much less dependable than the Norfolk inner harbor where the Spirit of Mt Vernon (norfolk’s replacement short cruise ship) now berths. If Jeb Little Creek was commercial instead of military, perhaps there would be a launch suitable for a vessel like this, but Yorktown has a better chance of building this market segment than the facilities available to VB.

To have a harbor cruise you need a harbor. A marina isn't quite the same thing. A lot of the Lynnhaven Bay system is shallow enough you can stand on the bottom at low tide. Lake Rudee is similar.

You said what I said in much more concise terms. We have lots of marine traffic, but no harbor.

Captain Jacks Pirate Adventure is the vessel ye seek!

I’ve been on that. It’s not classy. It’s bottom shelf rum, dated DJ and very quick trip. I’m looking for something a little more upscale but not a 10 day cruise.

It was a joke.
