Rough_Elk_3952

Tbh, until I joined this sub I had no idea how much ice cream people wanted to eat regularly.

thirdtimesthemom

If I could eat ice cream for every meal without getting sick, I would.

Rough_Elk_3952

Yeah, see. I love ice cream and still rarely finish a carton before it gets freezer burn lol. I truly just had no idea it was a daily thing for so many people.

chemkara

Then you just like ice cream, you don’t love it.

Rough_Elk_3952

I can love something and not want to eat it every day. Just like there’s movies/books/music I love but I don’t want to watch/hear/read them every day. Everything in moderation. If I ate ice cream daily, I’d burn out on it and not enjoy it nearly as much.

spindleblood

It's so weird with me because I didn't used to eat it every day. But then I went on this crazy restrictive diet and I've been eating a Yasso bar every night for dessert. It's not ice cream per se, it's fro yo but still... The same principle applies here I guess. I think it's just the diet I'm on ....I didn't even used to crave it.

Apprehensive-Music54

Every day, my friend. Every. Single. Day.

Hwmf15

Honestly was never an ice cream lover until i got a creami, now i cant go a day without one as my night cap lol

angelkatomuah

Lol my parents have always been ice cream people. They could finish a cart in two-three days between them. I am also of the mind that I can't finished a carton before freezer burn. But I got myself a creami and haven't regretted it

FleshlightModel

Ya I'm baffled by the amount of love for sweets and fast food.

Half-Upper

I am so incredibly averse to standalone appliances like this one. I thought I'd use it like once every 6 months and just take up counterspace. I thought it'd be gimmicky. I thought it wouldn't work that well. I got one as a gift from my partner and I absolutely love it and will sing its praises from the hilltops. I also have a vitamix and it doesn't make ice cream like this thing does. It's so nice to just throw some protein shakes in a pint and make a gigantic dessert for not that many calories out of it. It is loud, but absolutely worth it.

spaceghostinme

I'm with you, and between the Creami, my air fryer, and the Crock-Pot/Instant Pot, I'd be lost. They take up counter space but I use the Creami and air fryer daily to eat healthy, volume foods. And I use the Crock-Pot multiple times a week to cook up chicken or whatever. So... My counters are full, lol.

ForgetsThePasswords

I have been hesitant since I have a vitamix and made nice cream sometimes. What do you notice is different than the vitamix ice cream?

Half-Upper

It’s a huge texture difference. Whenever I’ve made ice cream in my vitamix it just gets super icy. The ninja truly makes anything into an ice cream texture.

ForgetsThePasswords

I’m intrigued!!! Thx!

Zealot_TKO

how does it save you money? please expound

5dollareggroll

You can make large quantities of low cal ice cream instead of forking over exorbitant amounts of money for a single pint.

Cr8z13

Halo Top is 4-5$ a pint. The most expensive ingredient in my homemade ice cream is protein powder, just under a dollar a serving and pennies for the other ingredients.

Matos3001

what is the recipe? pls

[deleted]

[удалено]

onlyvelveteen

Do you use the Ghost oreo protein powder? I keep getting burned on gross protein powders and would like a dessert one that isn't plain vanilla or chocolate.

Sunsterr

Try their cereal milk or marshmallow cereal milk. I’ve been an optimum nutrition gold standard guy for like 15 years but I first ordered a bunch of samples from ghost then bought a tub of the marshmallow cereal milk. Def more expensive but sooo good

lma214

Just tried the Ghost Oreo and Ghost Chips Ahoy in the Creami and both were good, but I think I preferred Oreo. I hate the taste of pretty much all protein powder and there was some sort of protein-y taste with these, but not bothersome.

KuroMSB

That’s interesting, cause I just bought one and after the first three test batches, it seems like a lot of work for inferior ice cream. Maybe I’m the problem

Cloud_King_15

Whats your recipe?

heftybufalo

What makes you think it’s a lot? Do you think your bases are turning out bad? A lot of recipes I find are just a bottle of X liquid & freeze?

KuroMSB

That’s what I saw as well, and that’s basically what I tried. I used Fairlife chocolate milk for one and even with xanthan gum, salt, Splenda and cocoa powder, it was just really bland. Another one was 2% Fairlife milk, a cup of strawberries and like 2 tbsp of strawberry Quik, plus extra Splenda and it didn’t taste like anything. The last one was just a frozen cored pineapple and Splenda. It was the best, but it was SUPER intense, so I couldn’t only have a few bites, lol. Otherwise, messing with all the pieces and the lids and getting everything to line up, and cleaning between batches, only to endure the ear piercing scraping over and over again (because everything requires multiple “spins”. Suddenly $5 for Halo Top doesn’t sound so bad.

elmerbronte

These recipes are all awful. Blaming the creami for the food being bad is like blaming your oven for the dinner being bad. With the right recipes and techniques, you could make something amazing. I think the real problem is where you're getting these recipes from.

spindleblood

I just chuck Chobani yogurts and blended fruit with vanilla extract and some guar gum into my Whynter ice cream machine and I add a little bit of almond milk and maybe allulose sweetener if desired but not always and it comes out great each time. I have no desire to buy a Creami... It seems like a viral "trend"... My friend who used to work in a fancy restaurant told me there is a restaurant version of the Creami though that's been around for forever but I forget what he told me it's called. So maybe it's been around a while but hasn't made it to the general public until Ninja made this. I used to have a Ninja blender too and it broke after one year. Can't say I'm hugely excited about their products.

scooby-dum

> The last one was just a frozen cored pineapple and Splenda. It was the best, but it was SUPER intense, so I couldn’t only have a few bites, lol. Just dump a can of pineapple in to the container.

heftybufalo

Hm I’m ngl it sounds like you’re found a lot of over complicating recipes. A popular recipe people make is literally just a can of diced pineapple. Literal open, pour, freeze. Xantham gum is a quite popular ingredient but there’s other substitutions. One of my latest mixtures was fairlife choc milk, & like 1/2 tbsp of sf chocolate pudding & it came out tasting like a Wendy’s frosty. You also have to take into consideration a lot of times foods become more bland once frozen. So if you don’t like the taste of it while still mixing, or lack of, it’s not going to get any better frozen. Try finding a good vanilla base & going from there. An easy one off the top of my head would be fairlife vanilla milk, (I don’t use the protein one I just use the regular ones in the deli section)sf vanilla pudding mix, vanilla, & your choice of sweetener to taste. Also go crazy with vanilla if your heart desires. Once you find a good base you can go from there!

infernoflower

PSA for everyone: Make a vanilla ice cream/low cal/alt milk whatever with the Creami then add butter flavoring from the baking aisle and cinnamon to taste. Tastes just like a churro.

AussieDog87

I wish it wasn't so loud, I highly doubt my apartment neighbours would like me anymore if I got one, lol

ProteinPapi777

A guy is actually launching a new cover for the creami to block the sound

ApprehensiveFlower8

I own my own home and I still feel bad for my neighbors lol

Cloud_King_15

It's not as loud as people make it out to be. It's like a louder blender and it's only on for a little bit. Don't let the noise be a deterrent.

notyourpoundcake

As an apartment dweller/creami owner, no complaints from neighbors. If they do complain, just offer them some delicious ice cream 😉

Standard_Lack_7178

I really don’t think it’s that loud. My Vitamix is much louder.

JGipe1

Can someone tell me how the Ninja Creami is better than the regular Ninja Blender? I mean couldn't I just use a regular Ninja Blender and then freeze whatever I make? I've been doing that for ages, please tells me the additional benefits of the Creami.

generallyintoit

the creami blends the recipe after freezing, so i guess it cuts down on stuff freezing into crystals rather than staying creamy. i don't own one, but i think that's their selling point. if you just freeze a cream and sugar mixture, it's got the same ingredients but it's not ice cream. the combination of churning and freezing is what makes a real ice cream. the creami does the "churning" after it's frozen solid so there's no risk of the mixture separating into crystals.

JGipe1

Thanks

nestedegg

What the ninja creami can do is basically you freeze a protein shake and then it turns into ice cream consistency - basically an exactly match on consistency (not necessarily flavor). If the blender can do that then you wouldn’t need it but my ninja blender can’t - I can basically just make smoothies with it (way more liquid needed than an ice cream). It’s pricy so I’m not saying get it or don’t - but that’s the difference.

JGipe1

Thanks. I try to stay pretty low body-fat so I actually like the extra volume / fluid with the regular Ninja Blender. So it sometimes makes 8 cups of food for like 300 calories if I use berries/whey/almond milk. The Creami would probably better if you wanted something tastier with better texture though.

Bloo-Q-Kazoo

If it’s not too much trouble, could you share some links for a couple recipes? I’m trying to replicate what you’re discussing and having trouble finding high volume recipes. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you Sir!

JGipe1

You can search “protein ice cream” on YouTube and a bunch of recipes will come up. One of my go-to recipes is: 250 grams frozen strawberries / 100 grams frozen blueberries / 40 grams whey protein / 1 cup almond milk / 1 cup (about 240 grams) of water or ice / Some kind of sweetener (I often use Sucralose or Stevia drops) / Cinnamon to taste / 2 grams salt Throw it all in a blender for 1-2 minutes and you have a tasty low-calorie treat to eat that has protein and fruit.

shesaysImdone

What food are you talking about?

heftybufalo

Blenders don’t make the same texture as the creami. They don’t even use the same type of blade. Also in some cases the blender requires more liquid making it more runny. Blender works but not the same as the creami

Sage-lilac

My bf convinced me to get it. Now we share 1-2 low cal, high protein pints every night. It’s been an amazing investment.

LORDSATAN_69

WHAT!? I WAS LITERALLY LOOKING IT UP TO BUY IT RIGHT NOW LMAO

klonkish

This post is a straight up ad and all the top comments are part of it

destinybond

Nobody is allowed to believe in a product anymore smh

maquis_00

Is it really that much better than a Vitamix?

Illustrious-Yard-871

It is not comparable to a blender. It is more like a budget version of a pacojet

heftybufalo

It doesn’t do the same as the creami, different blades even

taylorthestang

It really depends on what it’s replacing. If you’re a habitual halo top consumer then absolutely, but you can make high protein desserts similar to ice cream with just cottage cheese and a blender. I see it as a single use appliance that is nice to have if you have the means and counter space. There’s definitely worse purchases you could make.

MicheACNH

Can you post a recipe for a high protein dessert similar to ice cream with just cottage cheese?

taylorthestang

Just blend cottage cheese with pudding mix and chill in the fridge

Cr8z13

Non-ninja machine with a compressor is the way to go.

tudd346

What machine would you recommend?

Cr8z13

Replied [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Volumeeating/s/P4I4e7JdZr).

hotcoffeewcream

This is a link to the same comment no other info

infernoflower

I have [this one](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BRXPZH6Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I like it. I got it because it was just about the cheapest compressor model I could find and I didn't want to drop a bunch of money on a contraption I wasn't sure I'd like. Turns out it works great. Makes a small amount in about an hour. No bells and whistles. I take it out a little early because I like soft-serve consistency. The only drawback is it forms a shell of hard ice cream a few millimeters thick on the inside of the hopper. I have both the Creami and the cheap compressor ice cream maker. I think the Creami makes a better end product but you have to make a base, put it in a special container, freeze the container at least 24 hours, then run it through the Creami. You really have to plan ahead and be patient. The compressor ice cream maker you can throw your ingredients in the hopper, do some chores, then come back to ice cream.

lovestocookoften

Say more

Cr8z13

It's nice not having to freeze your batter for 24 hours. My unit was discontinued but it's the same basic design as [this one](https://a.co/d/f9IDQuT). It's good for 1-2 pints at a time and that's plenty for me since I live alone but I'd want a bigger machine for a family. There are other options depending on your price range, just search "ice cream maker with compressor."

heftybufalo

These are meant for cream bases though?

Cr8z13

What did you have in mind?

heftybufalo

Traditional ice cream makers won’t work as well as the creami because they’re meant to churn cream bases. You’re not going to a creamy frozen treat made with coconut milk out of traditional makers.

SexOnABurningPlanet

How am I just hearing about this?! Even has a stainless steel container quart(!) instead of the plastic creami pints. Is this legit?! $109, lols. I've avoided creami due to mold problems and people saying they got bits of plastic in their ice cream. I'll buy this from Walmart or something and return it if it turns out to be trash.

[deleted]

I made Greg Doucettes ice cream today and put too much guar gum. Fucking disgusting lol, it was so slimey going down

spindleblood

A little goes a long way! 😅

BlueberryLover18

It’s $50 off at Walmart right now!

shegator

100% agree. I have protein ice cream every night for dessert and it is amazing.

MicheACNH

Recipe?

Cloud_King_15

Honestly, just half 2%, half almond milk as the base. Then a protein powder scoop and some 0 cal pudding mix. That's it for a base. Mix and match flavors for milk/protein powder/pudding and then choose your mix ins. But with that basic base it's delicious and easy to get your entire pint under 400 calories with about 35-40g protein depending on the powder you use.

shegator

Last night I had plain chocolate: 1 Fairlife chocolate shake (the 150 cal 30g protein one) plus 2 tbl sugar free jello chocolate pudding mix. Ninja Creami turns it into delicious chocolate ice cream. Tonight is going to be Snickerdoodle: 1 cup Fairlife fat-free milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, I tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla flavoring.

backpocketbenny

Best purchase this year for me! Love mine

itsnotaboutthathun

It’s not. I don’t use it because it’s so freaking loud. £250 wasted.

heftybufalo

Could’ve resold it, had a good resale value when it first went popular. But it’s blending a chunk of ice it’s going to be loud lol

[deleted]

Just use a blender or food processor to make protein ice cream and it tastes just as good tbh 🤷‍♀️

Illustrious-Yard-871

If it works for you that’s awesome. But in my experience there is absolutely no comparison between the creamy consistency you get with the Ninja Creami compared to a food processor or blender. The Creami is not a blender, the blade is pretty dull actually. What it does is gradually “shave” the frozen mixture and churn it. That’s how you end up with a really smooth texture that doesn’t have ice crystals like you would get if you tried the same thing with a food processor or blender.

heftybufalo

Yea blenders work in a pinch but they don’t make the same texture even

weirdoasqueroso

Same

TurboMollusk

Alternatively, if you don't care about whether your ice cream is "going viral on tiktok", just get an ice cream maker. Nyt rated many that are 1/3 the price as significantly better than the cremi.

Illustrious-Yard-871

I have no idea what you mean by your ice cream going viral on TikTok but I have both an ice cream maker and a Creami and the ice cream maker fails miserably when it comes to low fat recipes. The resulting ice cream is always full of ice crystals. The Creami on the other hand makes super smooth creamy ice cream.

marks716

Okay but those literally can not make low calorie ice cream, which is the whole point. I read that article and the higher rated ones were used to make high calorie ice cream.

TurboMollusk

Might be worth giving it another read. They discuss sorbet (non-fat) and non-dairy/vegan ice cream (low-fat) performance for each model. That very literally means they can make low calorie ice cream. Link for folks: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-ice-cream-maker/

marks716

Hm I was thinking of a different article maybe I was mistaken then There was definitely some other article a family member sent to me awhile back that didn’t give low cal options, but these look cool

Sugarpuff_Karma

They all do the same thing...as does a blender

marks716

Not true, these also do compression. I was wrong about the article the guy referenced but a blender doesn’t do the same thing

heftybufalo

No they all use different means & some don’t work as well. Ice cream makers are meant for cream based treats, you’re not going to get a creamy ice cream made out of coconut milk in a traditional churner. Blenders & the creami use completely different blades

heftybufalo

Traditional ice cream makers are much more limited in capabilities compared to creami

jmoneyvenice

I agree, it is one of the best diet tools, a pint is so filling

grae23

Been thinking about getting a creami forever. Do they actually have ice cream consistency? One of my biggest icks is texture.

Cloud_King_15

Yes. That's the main thing with getting one vs all the other low cal ice cream hacks like cottage cheese or frozen bananas. The texture great. It's a creamier type of ice cream, so it won't be like a frozen scoop you just get out of the freezer. It'll be as if it's just a little more melted than that.

heftybufalo

Yes with the right base you can get actual ice cream texture, some are more of a Wendy’s frosty texture which is pretty good too!

grae23

What base would you recommend?

heftybufalo

The most recent base I made was 480g chocolate fairlife milk & 5g of sugar free chocolate pudding mix. I had to do abt 2 resins (but that was because I was being stubborn & didn’t just add more liquid) & the consistency was nearly spot on Wendy’s frosty when they’re still cold, not when they’ve had a chance to sit and are like soft & foamy kinda.

Fancy-Pair

I have one bust I mostly use my food processor for thicc fruit smoothies

borahae_artist

i have an ice cream maker but should i get one of these?

spindleblood

Personally I'm not. I love my Whynter machine lol.

100percentapplejuice

I would but I physically cannot consume protein powder for the cool recipes here and it makes me sad

spindleblood

Is it the whey? There are pea proteins too, if that helps. I don't put protein powder in my FroYo recipes because I'm on poverty macros at the moment and I would rather get my protein from whole foods sources like chicken or shrimp or eggs for example. So I'm just adding like Chobani yogurts, blended fruits, vanilla extract, vanilla bean powder, guar gum, almond milk and if I want a sweetener, I'll add in monkfruit allulose to it. That's pretty much all I do and it comes out great in my ice cream machine. I don't have a Creami but you could probably do a similar recipe in one just omit the protein powder?

100percentapplejuice

Nah it’s not because it’s whey. I also tried pea protein from a coworker and I got the same reaction. I think my body can’t process that much protein in one go like that. I’ve resigned to just eating my protein the traditional way.

spindleblood

Ahh I see. Nothing wrong with that! I'm getting mine from whole foods vs powder ever since I got on this show diet and I feel much more satiated.

flyver67

Just use yogurt or cottage cheese.

Reaper1001

Bought one a week ago and I've made 6 pints. Just reloaded another 4. Recipes so far Vanilla base 1.5 cups normal 2% milk and 1 scoop vanilla protein powder spun on lite ice cream Chocolate base 1.5 cups milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 tbsp sugar free chocolate pudding, 1 tbsp cocoa powder spun on lite ice cream Raspberry sorbet 250g frozen raspberries defrosted with 1/2 tbsp Splenda and 1/2 cup water (was extremely tart) spun on sorbet Boozy Bellini 1 cup barefoot peach fruitscato, 1 cup frozen peaches blended, 1/2 tbsp Splenda spun on sorbet Rum and coke 3oz rum, topped up to 2 cups with coke zero Spun on sorbet. After a respin and it melting a little it became a Canadian Slurpee Watermelon sorbet 2 cups watermelon 1/2 tbsp Splenda spun on sorbet (needed something so was going to go a watermelon mojito next) Currently in freezer is strawberry frozen yogurt, vanilla base + Kahlua, raspberry strawberry sorbet, and a vanilla base. It's not as loud as people made it sound. It's quieter than our blendtec when we are making smoothies. It's very flexible. It may not make ice cream you like. I found it fairly close to the Breyers blue container frozen dessert but I'm fine with that. I really bought it for sorbet.

notanorganism

I've literally had it in my basket for months, and today is the day!! You are officially an enabler 💀

w4ntedn1kes

i am this 🤏 close to running to costco to buy one.

heftybufalo

Shop second hand if you’re not ready to dish out that much just yet!

NerdyCrafter1

I was a doubter, and at first, I was a little disappointed with the results when I bought it. After experimenting with it, though, it's amazing. Having ice cream every day!

mindmyV

I was literally thinking this morning should I just go ahead and fork over money for it..I want one sooooo bad lol

starelae

I just opened a tab this morning and have been periodically going back to reconsider it because I learned they come in green haha, I think this might be the sign I need to go through with it!

mymindistoxic

I just bought one yesterday!!! Gona make some tubs and freeze them, can't wait!! 😍😍😍 Literally bought it yesterday!

hargow_siumai

It was on sale at Sam’s club for $119 so I took one home with me! So excited to try it out

LittleManOnACan

Just got one, have made 1 recipe so far so anyone with advice lmk. My basic understanding is fairlife + protein + jello. Open to tips

Zealousideal_Bass683

1000% I use mine everyday 90 cal pint of ice cream 🍨 is awesome

Remote_Vanilla

OK within 3 hours of seeing this I bought one 😄

Independentpeach01

My mom sent me one for a gift! I have all these recipes saved but haven't used it yet lol ahh

Buttflip

I fucking love my homemade icecream. Thanks to ninja creami, I crank out 250 kcal strawberry, coffee, and vanilla icecream everyday! 👏🏻

2wrtier

I both want it and am afraid that my ice cream (and thus calorie) intake will sky rocket! 😳

spindleblood

Even if I already own a $200+ ice cream machine? (I don't remember what I paid exactly because I used part of my rewards points from work to buy it in like 2021 but it wasn't cheap!)

NomarsFool

I think it is great, but I do find the noise a deterrent. Making the ice cream is super simple, but the time it takes after the freeze is also a little annoying. I usually spin 2-3x, so it just takes awhile. Not a huge deal, but compared to just taking something out of the freezer it is more time. But, it’s pretty good ice cream and the macros can be amazing. Some fairlife fat free milk, a scoop of protein powder, 1/4 cup of allulose and then can vary it up with some mix ins, cocoa powder, sugar free syrups, peanut butter powder, etc. I experimented with cottage cheese and yogurt and other stuff. I think it improves the texture a bit and can make it more creamy, but the extra blending wasn’t worth it for me. I just mix up the ingredients in the container with a milk frother - super simple.

michischaaf

I can confirm. Got mine one and a half weeks ago and used it every single night.

Aim2bFit

I wish it's affordable where I'm at. I'm not in America so no used ones either. It's more thsn 1k here. Sigh.

DakotaNoLastName33

I’m saving up to buy a vitamix to make ice cream among other things. My nutra and magic bullet have kinda worn down quite a bit to the point I need to replace them

badass_marshmallow

I was burned on buying the Yonanas machine years ago. It was so cheaply made. I constantly worried that something was frozen too hard and would crack it.

Somebirbs

Any good tutorials for one I bought one but it’s been gathering dust because I haven’t really sat down to figure out how to use it

moorhssm

I love mine so much, I ordered one for my assistant for her Bday just today! She's been eyeing the creations I post and was so disappointed when her fiancée said they should spend the money on other stuff... so, yeah, Enjoy Your Present! Hey, I tell ya' - those pop up 25-40% off KOHL's coupons are a blessing and sometimes they hit at just the right time!! (I paid $176.95 + tax and free shipping for transparency) The Deluxe is the way to go and no one can convince me otherwise. I have used it every day since I bought it about 4 months ago. I keep 6 pints in the freezer at any given time and eat the protein version for lunch or dessert along with other Volumeeating tricks... so, I am almost 50 lbs lighter than I was on my birthday back in December- so, when ppl ask or notice - I let them know the way and hip them to the "Ninja" secret. 100% worth is absolutely!

AllAbouttheKeys

Mine broke 3 times…

Longjumping-Log923

I had to return it 2 times already, first time it was burning second time plastic shavings in ice cream, let’s see if it will be okay this last time

WhatSheSaid7

Damn I’ve been debating this today. It must be a sign
