if you want the leds on the wheels themselves, using a wired connection to the battery is not a good thing. I previously saw a post where someone tricked out the body and the wheels, but the wheels had separate batteries. WLED supports a master and slave configuration so it is possible to "SYNC" multiple esp32, there were 3 in the prior post.

What type of USB? They vary greatly in the power they can put out, for example USB-C PD can go over 200W max at 20v but USB 3.1 is 15W max at 5v.

It's normal usb a. Other than that I'm not really sure.

[deleted]

You will only have 15w maximum on usb a, more than likely its 5w so I would probably look for another power source unless 1A will do it.

fanqyxll

yea, its one amp. I foudn this out because running at 850 milliamps would make the board crash. I will probably find a battery pack but I want to find a way to hook it up to the power supply on the bike.

i’m using a dig2go and ws2812b and using the usb port on the bike display screen to power them

fanqyxll

Yea, exactly where my port is but I was going to use a esp32. I just don't understand how I would put the lights on the wheels and if i wanted to makes them brighter how I could do that.

UrbanPugEsq

A dig2go is an esp32. You can’t put lights on the wheels unless you get really sophisticated because, well, the wheel spins. For that I would just follow this and other subreddits and the LEDs ARE AWESOME Facebook group for ideas. As for changing the brightness, that’s what wled is for. Just use it.

the dig2go has a ir sensor built in and wled can be programmed to use a ir remote. also you can connect it wirelessly to your phone if you turn on your phones hotspot, and last wled can act as an access point and you can connect your phone to its AP . when connecting wirelessly you can then control with a wled app on your phone. i am going to run part of the strips on the bottom of the front and rear fenders on my bike as well as the section i already have running around the main frame section

check out quinled’s site and youtube his dig boards. you can also run them off a portable power bank. the dig2go is perfect for this use. it’s all fully packaged in a case and has a usb c connection for the power and a jst connector and port for the output with wled already pre flashed https://quinled.info/quinled-dig2go/ https://youtu.be/ULVFtxpJHS0?si=_ohLR2bQj8ZbeRky
