When you put it like that, $17k doesn’t sound too bad for a WRX with a new engine. I got mine for $28k with 19k miles, so OP could still replace the turbo and clutch and come out ahead of me lol
yeah except then when you want to sell it youre $17k into a car that's worth $5-8k at most, and the axles, transmission, hoses all have 200k miles on them
I haven’t looked recently but I have an overwhelming feeling you can find a “very clean looking” 2016 with A LOT less miles for $12K so… this would be a no for me.
It’s because of the miles. Honest question though, have you had to do any major repairs? I also have a 2016 and would like to know how it went for you getting to 170k.
I have a 2016 with 158k, stock, just replaced center differential and clutch ($3k), motor runs great it has regular oil changes and I probably need to do plugs soon but that’s the only major repair I’ve had to do.
Checking in at 100,500 miles with only bearings and clutch being the "major maintenance"
Engine and trans seem healthy. Maybe unpopular but I just go by the manual and get oil changes every 6k. Every 3k seems appropriate only if you're heavily modded or tracking the car.
I have a 2015 with 115k, the CVT transmission failed at 60k and was covered under warranty, but everything else has been diamonds. Oil changes every 5k and I’ve been thriving
21,250 miles per year is a lot. The car is already eight years old. I wouldn’t do it unless you’re buying this car to heavily modify it and you just need a shell. But even at that you would want to negotiate down the price.
If this is that car in wis at Wilde Honda from my stand point 1 owner and a very will taken car of CARFAX history. You should have scooped it a lot of these cars have multi owners and get beat on constantly.
Check and see when the clutch was replaced last. If my memory serves correct the stock OEM clutch gets replaced at 50K intervals. Test drive the car and let it run in place for a little while. Check to make sure there are no leaks in the engine bay or under the car. If this is for a daily driver walk away. If you want a toy car grab it.
It's actually $22k, you just haven't bought the new engine yet.
My guess is that it will be this car's 3rd engine
That doesn’t really matter though. After you put a new engine in it, it will only need a new engine.
You make a strong argument
My 15wrx is at 130k miles still on original motor😅
Godspeed, sir 🫡
I wouldn't pay 12k for something you might get 20k miles out of before it costs you another $5k for a new engine + labor

Too many miles
I hate to say it because everyone always says this shit but in this instance I agree. “ Aslong as you have 10k for a new engine”
Buy it so we can see back here in a week asking why a new motor costs so much!
Seems awfully high milage, I couldn't risk the peace of mind for 12k.
lots a miles brotha
Worth about 9k

No

I'm at 100k fully stock no major repairs. Just regular maintenance
Awesome! I hardly drive, so I’m still at 43k. Glad to know I have among way to go!

Wow. Thanks for the info! Looking forward to taking care of mine for quite some time!
Wow good job 👍🏻, I am heavily modded, I did all the mods by 6K I’m at 66k now. No issues other then battery and clutch.

Checking in at 108k miles on 2016 CVT. No major issues just regular maintenance. I do need a new AC condenser though
I just didn’t AC condenser last year actually.

Nope
Too many miles for $12k
With those miles that car should NOT be anywhere close to 10k

Fuck I got a 1 owner 18 premium with 29k miles I’ll let go for 18.5
Get the gap insurance and the warranty/maintenance packages
160k? Damn. I have the same year and edition with 50k
Don’t buy any wrx with that many miles that hasn’t had the engine replaced or rebuilt
I got a 17 WRX 109k miles for sale 👍🏽 I’m original Owner, CVT replaced at 74k under warranty
Are you located in Wisconsin just asking because I was looking at this same one

Also check AC and make sure that works. My compressor went at about 60kish miles.
I’ll sell you my 2016 with 70k miles for 16k completely stock except for intake and AC is going out:/
Buy it. ✌🏼
