Yeah at first I was like "is that a person tumbling down the muddy hill?", and then I realized that was a huge ass mountain and that was the machine coming down.
It looks like it was a very small excavator judging by the dog and the people in the foreground, unless that road in the foreground is extremely high off the river and much closer to the camera than it looks to me.
What rolls down stairs
alone or in pairs,
and over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack,
And fits on your back?
It's log, log, log
It's log, it's log,
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, it's log, it's better than bad, it's good."
Everyone wants a log
You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
Everyone needs a log
log log log

LetsSingIt - The Internet Lyrics Database
There's a person in there. My neighbor's father retired from this job. The excavators prepare for the installation of power line towers or pipelines. The excavators are anchored by cables at the peak and lowered to the days work post with an operator inside. The operator is usually in there all day.
When I'm in the mountains, I always look at a mountain and wonder how large a person would be in comparison. Are the trees on top just tiny trees? Or is the mountain so massive?
I remember one time, as a teenager, a friend and I were in the woods when we spotted a small tree or even sapling at the top of a cliff.
Since it looked like it was rooted on a granite rock that was about to fall off the mountain, we decided to go up there and take a look.
The tree, as it turned out, was too big to wrap your arms around. It was also growing *between* the broken piece of rock and the rest of the mountain. Oh, and that 'piece of rock' was the size of a bus.
If that's a regular excavator then those trees are huge, but I think this is one of those small ones, like the Bobcat excavators. It's hard to tell in the video. It would make more sense given the location though.
You and me both.
Except for the episode where he shows kids how to deploy and evade law enforcement stop sticks. In the event of a tyrannical police takeover my kid is going to go all red dawn with his power wheel.
The funniest bit I've seen was the one where they were in Walmart and a random cowboy walks across in the background, then backs up like, "wtf is this weirdo doing making all those weird noises and movements in front of a camera?" Then he *clearly* goes and tells his wife "Aye, Martha, check this shit out" and you see his wife slowly creep by the end of the aisle, staring at Blippi so damn hard!
Mountaaaaain, oooooooh
Digging wasn't meant to make you fly,
If I'm not done digging this time tomorrow,
Quarry on, quarry on, as if nothing really splatters
Such familiar lyrics yet I have no idea what song.
Edit: Appreciate the downvote for being forgetful. It will definitely remind me to not be forgetful.
Probably a massive landslide caused this. No casualties have been reported as far as I can recall. This is a video that is 2-3 years old, which I accidentally stumbled upon again today.
Have plenty of spots steeper than that on my current project in western Canada, nothing like having 2x Cat D8s winching machines up and down the slopes like a yo-yo, one small oops and it'll look like that video all over again. Fun times.
Those cabins are fairly tough, and the harnesses, when worn, should hold you in, although perhaps not for all the way down a mountain.
Plus, landing in a swollen river probably makes this non-survivable.
Heavy equipment engineer here. The ROPS structures are rarely designed for more than 2 or 3g times machine mass. They are designed to protect you from the machine rolling, not falling from a height onto the cab structure.
I sincerely hope the operator was nowhere near this when it went.
But seriously, don't let this become an argument for not wearing a seatbelt I've sat through too many legal briefs of horrible accidents. Always, always, ALWAYS wear your seatbelt in heavy equipment. Rollovers/tipovers are much more common than falls, and the number of people partially ejected and then crushed...or partially crushed...in front of their children... by a common tip over is way way too high.
I won't downvote you. BUT. I've been in the US military and commercial/healthcare/multi-family facilities maintenance for decades.
I've seen the lowest common denominator.
Not to be that guy, but where the hell do people find devices that record ultra freaking low def video anymore? Like for real… what year was the last year they even made cell phones that shot less than at least 720p video?
Hmmm, I wonder what seatbelt regulations are for those things... Maybe he has one of those 4 point harnesses used in racing, so he is snug in tight. Splash! Hope he's not stuck with seat belt.
Husband is 40 year veteran of operating excavators on some pretty steep forestry blocks. Knows these machines like the back of his hand. He reckons this isnt a real big one, maybe a 12 tonner.
And yeah he said holy shit when he saw where it had come from.
And that is why you should never show videos of cute gymnast girls doing their floor program to your excavator.
But damn what a scale. It originally looked like some freshly broken road and something small coming rolling down. Then the zoom in and it's a very wide slide and the tiny thing is a rather large excavator.
Excavators are like fridges, if they get tipped over you gotta wait at least an hour to let the gases settle before you turn them back on. Hope these guys know about that.
The perspective of mountain size compared to the machine is insane
Yeah at first I was like "is that a person tumbling down the muddy hill?", and then I realized that was a huge ass mountain and that was the machine coming down.
It's the sparse but gigantic trees which make it look smaller.
wow, you're right.... jesus those are some big ass trees
Treesus Christ
Plus the people on the road look super tiny.
The dog zeroed me in
That explains a lot. I couldn't really grasp the scale for a few seconds.
It looks like it was a very small excavator judging by the dog and the people in the foreground, unless that road in the foreground is extremely high off the river and much closer to the camera than it looks to me.
Toy excavator on a normal size road
Used to be a whole hillside of them, by the looks of it...
I can’t stop seeing a hot wheels excavator rolling down a muddy hill
I was thinking about how much I enjoyed it as a kid when my Slinky tumbled end-over-end to the bottom of the stairs. It was a wonderful toy.
Yeah slinky was fun for a girl or a boy.
Log was better!

Speaking of a person, where’s the operator ?
Probably at home. It seems most likely this thing was parked at the top of the hill when the landslide happened.
That's what I'm here for
There's a person in there. My neighbor's father retired from this job. The excavators prepare for the installation of power line towers or pipelines. The excavators are anchored by cables at the peak and lowered to the days work post with an operator inside. The operator is usually in there all day.
Well he’s dead now, Jim
Every single tumble would carry so much force. I don't think a hard hat and a seat belt would save the operator
Hello Mr. George
Walking it off I'm sure. I bet that he never makes that mistake again.
Yeah was not expecting that perspective at all. Looked much smaller
Those trees are also really skewing the perspective, they looks unrealistically massive compared to the machine!
When I'm in the mountains, I always look at a mountain and wonder how large a person would be in comparison. Are the trees on top just tiny trees? Or is the mountain so massive?

What is this.. an excavator for ANTS!!?!?
Looked like a person crawling just before the zoom in.
I dunno, that dog at the end would be massive if that scale is right with that camera perspective… like, is it a horse???
Pretty sure it’s a very small one because the dog is pretty big compared to it
That dog was about to save it from the river.
That looked like a toy until it hit the water
The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles!
https://youtu.be/i6QXadkl5Dc?t=373
Reminded me of the National Geographic on Firetrucks that Peter watched
The ambulances will have to wait their turn
They see me rollin'
Those trees are *huge*
See ya later excavator
In a while, mountain pile.
Where you at, Cat?
Did you lose your brace, Case?
No fear, John Deere.
Kubota, didn't know ya
If you have kids then this hits home.
I hate blippi so much
You and me both. Except for the episode where he shows kids how to deploy and evade law enforcement stop sticks. In the event of a tyrannical police takeover my kid is going to go all red dawn with his power wheel.
He does the weirdest shit that I'm constantly surprised my kids will have the attention span to watch.
Blippi is an abomination of a human being. I can barely think about him, I find him so annoying. I refuse to accept he has any redeeming qualities.
#HEY DIRT, CYA LATEEEEEERRRRRRR
Hey dirt!
See ya later!
See ya later
I HATE YOU SO MUCH
“As you wish…!”
Aaaaaaassssssss ....yyyyyyyooooooouuuuu .... wwwwwwwiiiiiiiissssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... ...........
Oh my sweet kubota.
My dearest, Westley!
Lol at the dog chasing down stream
Doggo was like, “I see it! I see it!! I’ll fetch it!! No, sorry it’s gone.”
It looked so calculated and confident until the very last second... :(
Dogs love to chase CATs
Doesn't look like it crashed. Looks like it was caught in a landslide. Probably trying to escape from reality.
dude, open your eyes, look up to the skies and see.
I'm just a poor boy, no more excavating.
Mountain, just killed a man…
down the hill he smashed his head, in the mudslide he is dead
Mountain! The digging’d just begun!!
And now I've gone and rolled it all away.
Mountaaaaain, oooooooh Digging wasn't meant to make you fly, If I'm not done digging this time tomorrow, Quarry on, quarry on, as if nothing really splatters
Fuck sake, my time has come
This is the ABSOLUTE BEST thread I’ve ever seen 🫡👏👏
Chilled by water coming down. Excavator rolling down
Gooooood bye everybody, I’ve got to go! Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth.
The driver was probably just a poor boy. Doesn't want our sympathy.
Those jobs are easy come, easy go, depend on if the pay is little high , or little low.
I took my love, took it down... I know it's bohemian rhapsody but I like how many songs involve landslides, snaps to reality or both
Climbed a mountain and I turned around.
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Such familiar lyrics yet I have no idea what song. Edit: Appreciate the downvote for being forgetful. It will definitely remind me to not be forgetful.
Bohemian Rhapsody.
🙏
You must sacrifice reddit karma for your sins /s
Snap back to reality
oop there goes gravity 🤷♂️
Any articles? Hopefully no one was in that but, it likely wouldn't happen if no one was in it.
Probably a massive landslide caused this. No casualties have been reported as far as I can recall. This is a video that is 2-3 years old, which I accidentally stumbled upon again today.
Do you have any idea what language they are speaking?
Hindi. This video is from Himalayan region of India ( Himanchal or Uttrakhand)
No wonder the grade on that mountain is so steep. It's the Himalayas.
Have plenty of spots steeper than that on my current project in western Canada, nothing like having 2x Cat D8s winching machines up and down the slopes like a yo-yo, one small oops and it'll look like that video all over again. Fun times.
No pressure!
As one coworker said about working on steep slopes, "we're all here 'cause we aren't all there."
WELCOME TO THE HIMALAYAS!!!
foreign
Thank you. Googling foreign language translator rn.
hindi/urdu, I think. likely this was India.
I'm a little disturbed I had to scroll down this far for anybody to mention a person potentially being in the excavator
It looks kind of like it was in transport/resting position, it's possible they left the site before the landslide grabbed it
I doubt they could’ve rode it all the way down the mountain without being thrown out at some point
Those cabins are fairly tough, and the harnesses, when worn, should hold you in, although perhaps not for all the way down a mountain. Plus, landing in a swollen river probably makes this non-survivable.

They have seatbelts. My neighbor tipped over his bulldozer and would have been crushed except he was wearing his.
Off road excavator, Recently washed, $45,000 OBO. NO LOW BALLS I KNOW WHAT I GOT.
Recently washed and rotated
Did I just watch someone die?
There is no way someone was trying to operate that in the middle of a massive rain storm.
I won't downvote you. BUT. I've been in the US military and commercial/healthcare/multi-family facilities maintenance for decades. I've seen the lowest common denominator.
Ok, yeah you are probably right. I continually overestimate humanity.
took a second to process the scale, that was a big hoe, had a big stick too, still looked tiny
Porn description be like
Who you callin’ a big hoe? You da hoe.
It's not a BIG one, notice the dog running at the end, and the people on the bank of the river.
You talking about my momma?
The trees must be super giant
Hope I didn't watch someone die.
I wish it would have come to a halt at the end and the operator would get out and walk around all dizzy like
Did I just watch someone die?
That mountain was big
Op said it is in the Himalayas. Those are the biggest.
Not to be that guy, but where the hell do people find devices that record ultra freaking low def video anymore? Like for real… what year was the last year they even made cell phones that shot less than at least 720p video?
Anywhere in the economic south or developing countries or whatever. Dude most people have like $60 androids.
When a 60 ton excavator gets washed away in a river, you know there's quite a lot of force behind all that water.
I thought Lassie was going to jump in and save it near the end there. Dissapointing.
Lassie running in to help at the last minute. I hope the operator hopped out before it went down.
Sometimes we forget how freaking big things are. Earth is big. Thanks for the reminder.
I hope the operator escaped
I'm amazed that the arms could hold that much force side ways. Ofcourse it won't be anywhere straight again, but i would expect it to brake off
The arm did break its fall.
What! Naw. Back in service next week
Craigslist: Recently washed used excavator. Slightly dented. No negotiation, I know what I have.
NO LOWBALLS NO TEXT NO AFTER 9PM ASK FOR RICHARD
Is Dick there?
It was a Cavator, now it's an Ex-cavator
The dog is running full blast like he sees something and about to dive in and then waits....
Hmmm, I wonder what seatbelt regulations are for those things... Maybe he has one of those 4 point harnesses used in racing, so he is snug in tight. Splash! Hope he's not stuck with seat belt.
Probably pretty nonexistent. It's only designed to travel at walking speed.
Hope no one was in that...
The scale of this is fuckulating to your perspective!
Husband is 40 year veteran of operating excavators on some pretty steep forestry blocks. Knows these machines like the back of his hand. He reckons this isnt a real big one, maybe a 12 tonner. And yeah he said holy shit when he saw where it had come from.
Hey dirt! See you later... I'm and excavaaaatorrrr
Oh! Look at that tiny thing coming down in the mud. Look at the tiny thing. Here comes a tiny thing. HOLY CRAP IT'S AN EXCAVATOR!!
Jeez--Anyone going to ask if the operator got out?
Excavator for scale
The scene kinda reminded me of [the Himachal Bridge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37Hhu-vswx0) video from a few years ago.
Shit hope there was no one in it.
Hey dirt, see ya later!
Hey dirt, see ya laterrrrr
I mean, that person is dead, yeah?
That is a huge hill jfc, my concept of the perspective was completely off until the very end
There’s a human in there……
oh yeah he dead. unless he jumped out at the top
It’ll buff.
[удалено]
A digital countdown clock would be great.
What is this, an excavator for ants?
Hope to God the person who was in there got away safe.
Well shit, we can't return it now Bob.
It looks like a sad girrafe.
Hope nobody was in that thing!!
And that is why you should never show videos of cute gymnast girls doing their floor program to your excavator. But damn what a scale. It originally looked like some freshly broken road and something small coming rolling down. Then the zoom in and it's a very wide slide and the tiny thing is a rather large excavator.
Imagine surviving the fall down a mountain in an excavator only to drown in a river. That’s some r/fuckyouinparticular content.
"It'll stop when it hits the water" The water - "Hold my beer"
I thought it was the bucket 💀 That mountain is fucking huge
Man, those things are built to last.
Wow, the water was pushing it downstream. I expected it to be an anchor
Hope the operator got out in time
Looked like a toy rolling down that hill
God: If you weren't already concussed, well, cheers to drowning.
How’s the human?
Was that an excavator for ants?
Earth doesn't give two shits about your excavator.
How strong are the joints in that thing to still have the arm attached at the bottom of the hill?
At least the dog was concerned. Anyone in the rig?
Of course a dog is the first one on the scene
Got that legendary Big Foot filter
🎶 excavator... See you later🎶
Holy heck! That was one of the two arm constructicons!
Hell of a ride. I was hoping it would stop short of the water. Drowning in a muddy river was a turn for the worse, I'm afraid.
And they say you can't teach a cat to roll over.
My uncle's shop can fix that in a week
Doggy want to save the human 🥺
I hope nobody was inside!
This is actually really bad for the excavator and can cause damage to some parts. They should get it in for a full service ASAP.
Excavators are like fridges, if they get tipped over you gotta wait at least an hour to let the gases settle before you turn them back on. Hope these guys know about that.
Damn hopefully nobody was in it
At first i thought 'i dont think they have seatbelts in there'. Then at the end i realised that did not really matter.
What happened to the driver?
It’ll buff out.
Damn. I hope the operator got out.
Dead? Or bailed out?
I like how the dog is like "Hey I wanna watch!"
Now rich people will pay to go down and see it in subs. Too soon?
Nah
