The best part of the whole Royal Rumble was R-Truth. The rest I could've gone and do some other stuff, nothing important or relevant to watch. It was completely boring and unwatchable. PS: Cody again? Oh my, Rocky boy is busy yet again before WM. Why putting seeds if you are not sure you are free or ready for a match at WrestleMania? Poor Cody, we already know who is going to win again because of that. Or let me guess WWE is booking Roman vs The Rock in Saudi Arabia this month. Poor US fans :)))))))))))))

SanRayscan

The fans in attendance wanted surprises and legends too. Did you see them give up mid women's rumble? It's never been this boring in wwe.

Reasonable-Pass-4478

No fr I very much enjoyed it fans really need to lower there expectations

MaleficentAnybody346

Regarding the Royal Rumble, I liked it. I will admit I’m guilty of setting my expectations a little too high for things I’m excited for lol; but the event was very good. The Men’s Royal Rumble match was average at best, still good match though but I liked the Women’s Match better. I also do not understand why WWE books Roman to be helped by The Bloodline in retaining his title every single time. It’s ridiculous and so excessive to the point where if they booked Roman to get a clean win over someone, they’d say “wait shoot we can’t make Roman win clean that’s a crime oh no” and probably make Nick Aldis go out there and I say “I refuse to let this match end in that manner, you will not cheat your way to victory; not on my watch Roman. These people paid to see you look like a chump who needs bailed out of everything by his cousins, not see you appear like the great champion you are and win a match by yourself, restart the match”. Either that or strip him of the title he wins clean.

MaleficentAnybody346

In my opinion there doesn’t need to be any surprise entrant unless it’s someone on the active roster returning from injury or something; sure it pops the crowd and it’s nice to see a returning legend but obviously they’re not winning so there’s really no point in them being in the match.

stonecoldmark

It was enjoyable to me and that’s all that matters. I’ve lost the ability to change minds of people that want to convince me I don’t like something I do.

[deleted]

It was awful and this post is gaslighting

Wide-Copy-3582

The men's was not top class, no good suprise returns or debuts and I didn't get the fear of "oh crap this guy is out he's gonna kill someone" you knew it was gonna be punk and Cody at the end and all of the main stars came out in the end it seemed like

Professional-Two-927

Royal Rumble was terrible, Fatal four way was underwhelming and the ending didn’t help that, Logan and KO was decent but not memorable, The Royal Rumble didn’t progress any storylines (Jey,Jimmy) and the wrestling in it was just very weak. Felt like a snooze fest. Overall the ending was good , Cody winning is a good ending imo, Women’s rumble was just better tho

YelenaBelovaJustY

It was ok. Women’s surprised me but the men’s felt like it was losing the crowd. It did put on a showing without any legends making any appearances so that’s the first. Everyone basically knew who would win the men’s royal rumble.

iziello

Yeah didn t mind the overall event, there were so many botches on mens event though the womens was overall pretty good.

WVFLMan

People loved the show outside of the IWC, the IWC are buzzkills a lot of the time.

MM487

I've been watching wrestling pay-per-views for over 25 years and I saw something at the Rumble this year that I've never seen before...the second match didn't start until one hour and 40 minutes into the show. What hurt this show to me was the length. The women's rumble should've been ten minutes shorter, the men's rumble should've been five minutes shorter, the US title match didn't need to happen on this show (and especially not have introductions in the ring) and the world title match could've had an extra five minutes added.

th3ryza

Women's RR was the best yet (will never count the inaugural as having that many legends is unfair) Mens RR suffered from the lack of starpower. Lesnar being removed. Having orton, knight, styles and/or owens available could have fixed that. It wasn't terrible as it had great spots, even dominik shined.

Intelligent-Mode-353

Why couldn’t any of those guys been in it?

Remarkable-Rip-4756

Overall the Rumble was great!

Downtown-Pack-6178

Funniest Moment in Royal Rumble was R-Truth went to Women's Rumble Match! and Valhalla was pissed off! and Liv Morgan return was awesome and amazing!!!

MM487

The best part was that he had the number right but the match wrong. Would've been odd if he came out at 24 in the women's and then a different number in the men's.

ShogunDreams

I thought the event was fine. The Rumble for both groups was boring and lackluster. It just wasn't there this year.

the_reel_vini

Every rumble has been the "worst rumble ever"

Motorhead923

Imo wasn't that good either.

thomas2400

They where both boring, the rumble needs surprised and the ones we got where lacking, a few mid carders and a TNA champion

PaulTopper

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I believe that they Rumble needs to go to 40 people. The roster is so loaded, which means less surprises. IMHO, the surprises are what make the rumble plus to showcase more of the upcoming NXT talent that some casuals might not be aware of.

Miserable-Resort-401

i think lowkey 2011 ruined it but i’d be totally down for that

[deleted]

No it was horrible

[deleted]

Yeah the whole show fell flat for me. There were so many botches during the women’s rumble, and having Sami come out at 30 was weird. Love the guy, but it was anti-climactic.

codyswann

Clearly the show fell flat for the live audience, too. Almost zero pops.

[deleted]

Yeah, there were cool or great spots throughout every match that the crowd just didn’t seem to react to. I wonder if it being a baseball stadium had anything to with the acoustics?

Amos_Burton666

Me and my son had a blast watching the Rumble and he loved every second of it so thats all that matters to me really. My favorite part was when Jimmys music hit I got goosebumps. People literally complain for the sake of complaining these days once you realize that you stop giving a you know what about negative opinions, if you enjoy it, thats all that matters.

DinoKea

Lots of people complaining about Sami Zayn coming in at thirty but genuinely who would be a better option? Don't go suggesting someone like MJF or other massive debuts but the fact is WWE haven't signed them. Only "Dirty" Dom Mysterio comes to mind as somebody who could have been a better #30 because imagine how mad everyone would be after all the hype if you got "Dirty" Dom instead.

Downtown-Pack-6178

I thought Sami Zayn or Liv Morgan will win Royal Rumble!

tophree

I think you mean Tom and Nick

DinoKea

We they can't both take the spot.  Nick would be better because we haven't seen him in a while. I hope he's alright

CardinalsFan1066

I was waiting on the return of “Jimmy.” He’s grown up a lot since he left the WWE.

[deleted]

I thought MJF was gonna make his WWE Debut. I was kind of disappointed that number 30 was Sami. The number 30 spot should be the spot for a no one saw coming surprise.

Sad-Climate-4251

If a Rumble requires and relies on surprises then the regular roster is weak is how I see it

Orphenia__

Bro it was a great Royal rumble.. my opinion is the people who complain the loudest are the people who don’t go to the shows and tune in every week. Real fans understand this is one of the best times in wrestling. We have to enjoy this, HHH has been killing it.

AdFormal3014

It wasn't that it was bad. It's just that it was underwhelming, especially compared to other PLEs over the last year. Last year's Royal Rumble was so great, with the Sami face turn/chair on Roman, and I think there was a lot of people hoping Orton would win, The Rock would come back, maybe Big E or another big star, and nothing. I know for a fact from my best friend who was at the event and others I've talked to that went (since I live in Tampa) that the Roman match sucked the energy out of the crowd. People are so sick of the same crap with him. Every win, Solo has to come in and do his thing. Get the belt off the guy already. I know everyone there hated that match/outcome.

Big-Cap-6776

Exactly what I’m saying they really have no one to blame but themselves for being disappointed

ShinHayato

Men’s was a bit lacklustre (apart from the ending and R Truth) The women’s was great, especially near the end. Roman’s match was drab but KO vs Logan was great

dolphin006roman

I was there live. Then I saw the reports that the crowd was muted and went wtf. Then I watched it and realized that the cameras were not picking up how loud it was. Legitimately couldn’t hear music for Naomi, Cody, or Punk it was that damn loud.

phelath

Who thought it was bad? I loved it

[deleted]

In the long run, it's just a match. Don't over analyze anything. Ruins the fun. It was good and entertaining.

Grandmaster_S

I enjoyed watching it. It was just fun to watch. The only thing I didn't like was how drawn out the ending of the Men's RR was. Ended up feeling like a regular match. I know they were in the ring for awhile, but it should've been a faster, more explosive ending imo

ProofSinger3638

the rumble sucked lol. The whole night sucked once Rhea didnt come out and whip ass

retroanduwu24

solid 7-8 out of 10.

BigBambuMeekLou

Aside from there being no returns the ending was just kinda lame. The final elimination was basic af it was mad anticlimactic

masako619

Didn’t andrade return?

ProofSinger3638

no one cares, and no one will ever care about that guy lol. He will never sell a ticket

masako619

I like him

JerseyKlahn

I think there are two schools of thought: \* The Rumble didn't live up to my unreasonably high expectations of Sasha Banks, MJF, Okada and 20 beloved legends showing up. \* The Rumble's storylines all ended really predictably and didn't really shake up the status quo in a meaningful way. I'm in camp #2. There were only four matches. Roman retained, Logan Paul retained, and the two odds on favorites to win the rumbles won. The biggest holy shit moments were small moments from inside the Rumbles. It was fine, but I also don't think it'll be considered a significant Rumble moving forward.

JimGamgee

Only thing I was disappointed was the ending going agst my cosplay booking. I wanted WALTER to win simply because he's the best wrestler outside Will Ospreay and ZSJ. But the last 2 was set in place as soon as Punk showed up. I'm a Punk guy so I'm not quibbling. If he doesn't get hurt, I think it'll be him v Seth at WM; that was set up the same night. Not gonna fuss about Cody, IF he's allowed to beat that do-nothing. Yeah, I hated Hogan by time Paul Orndorff turned on him in 86 but he DID work most of the year during his 1st run; Reigns is worse than Lesnar's part-time crap ever was. At least Brock won cleanly most of the time. Since 2021, every Roman match has been the same damn thing. Haitch putting Cody/RR in a cage or HIAC is the ONLY sign that we won't get screwed over again. Reigns, in the face of all the returning and new stars, served his purpose. Move on.

JimGamgee

My biggest bitch is the title match. Not the romanwinslol but that it was a FOUR-WAY MATCH. None of the other three tried to pin each other; it was like they could only win by pinning RR. Doing this could've opened up RR v Rocky w/o Rocky having to hold the belt but they booked it unlike any other 3-5way match I've ever seen. I realize this is how it was booked, not to end RR's with a cheap ploy but it would've kept what 'strength' he has left intact. Now he just remains worse than HBK once SM had Vince by the short hairs until he left in 98.

mx_randomguy

First of all: WWE sells you the image of the "best event of all" only after WM, they are in charge of generating expectations in the fans that they know they are not going to fulfill, in addition to that lately it has become very predictable and they have taken little away from it. Little was the emotion generated by the fan seeing something they didn't expect because instead of generating something unexpected but incredible and exciting at the same time, they gave you a very embarrassing wtf moment. Second: WWE is a company that is in charge, at the end of everything, of selling you entertainment and it is due to its clients (fans in case you didn't understand), if they are going to generate expectations for you it is because they can sell them to you, but instead They sell you a great disappointment.

CrossfitJebus

Womens Rumble had all the surprises. Men’s rumble had a story to tell

OnlySveta

The IWC gets worse by the year. You literally can't win with them any more; now that we're in the age of AEW and TNA, they now have *three* companies to ceaselessly bitch about even when the onscreen product is objectively good. RR2024 was good. Women's Rumble was excellent, Men's Rumble did what it needed to do (and ended, for me, on a relief, after all the rumors that they were planning to screw Cody in favor of Dwayne). Don't listen to fickle pond filth.

Sinlinlin1

And in all seriousness, what are the odds of a "surprise" entrant making a huge difference in the outcome or actually winning? (trying to rack my brain)

galagapilot

outside could have played into changing an outcome at the end of the Rumble.

Sinlinlin1

Sure. I should have never added the word "outcome". Winning was what I meant upon second glance. My bad. Thanks for pointing that out.

adambray23

It wasn't a good Rumble. I didn't have overly high expectations, either. I thought Survivor Series was fantastic.

tidho

It's routinely underwhelming because they changed it from getting a title shot to getting the WM title shot. That slices the possible winners down to about two, because generally everyone already knows what's happening at WM. Couple that with a completely pointless RR title defense, and you're not going to have people wow'd by the event.

KG13_

🎯🎯 People acting like it’s the end of the world to criticize WWE. If it was a bad event, it was a bad event. You pointed it all out

Haunting-Ad-912

Eh the women’s was fantastic and not extremely predictable, I don’t really like KO or Logan so I couldn’t get very invested in that, the fatal four way was very predictable even down to who got pinned and the men’s was also pretty predictable

ZUU_S

The 4-way ended abruptly and was quite forgettable, I cant even remember the ending

Haunting-Ad-912

Yeah I really wish they would stop shoving Roman down our throats, >!and having him pin AJ was so obvious before the match even started!<

ZUU_S

Would be better If he took advantage of the stipulation instead of outside interference

Haunting-Ad-912

Fr I swear he wins so many of his matches by having some goon come in and help

ZUU_S

Cant even remember the last time he won clean

Haunting-Ad-912

I don’t think humanity knew how to write stuff back then

LeastAd9721

They just uncovered a cave painting in France of Roman winning after a ref took a bump

Bmania13500

It's something I keep telling my wrestling group. You don't need legends. The raw and smackdown rosters are full of wrestlers who are good and can make rumble moments. I don't need to see The Rock, Hulk Hogan, or some other legend. As much I like Pat McAfee and what he did made me laugh. We really didn't need to throw him in just to leave. We didn't see Chad Gable, Solo, or others that would have made the match good. The Street Profits showed but were not in the match. We all know Montez Ford can pull some crazy shit. Keep the legends for another time or away and let your current stars cook, if only for a moment.

galagapilot

I think the Pat McAfee stuff was thrown together at the last minute due to Brock no longer being available. Was it stupid? Sure. Was it worse than a rando celebrity appearance? Yes. Could they have used that spot for a dozen other people? Definitely.

babadeboopi

I dont think it pushed forward any WM plans...like i expected done Uso to climate the other, or anything potentially for Gunther. Seems like it was more about Cody and Punk.

Splashadian

Women stole the show, KO was fantastic. Men's match was meh

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZUU_S

It was a comedy spot

jelly_blood

Men’s Rumble was 6/10, underwhelming but I’m glad Cody got the win over Punk Fatal 4 Way was 0/10, trash, absolutely awful considering the talent Logan vs KO was 7/10, decent match. Ending pissed me off but I’m sure that was the point. It reminded me a little of Eddie. Women’s Rumble was an absolute 10/10, one of the best rumbles, man or woman, period. I’m really happy Bayley won, although I wish she would’ve fought just a little more instead of staying to the side, but still, well deserved.

ProofSinger3638

how was the womans rumble not garbage like the rest of the night jade and maxxine were the only good parts

AdFormal3014

Nia Jax kicked ass, whether you liked her or not. Jade had an awesome debut, throwing out Jax was amazing. I thought the Chelsea Green stuff added a lot of comedy to the event. The Bianca/Jade stare was incredible and setting something up down the road. And I like the Bayley win. Had some good comebacks, too, with Liv Morgan (who looked hot asf), Naomi, and Tiffany Stratton. Women's match rocked.

ProofSinger3638

you named all the good stuff on the entire show. After Nia Jax and Jade, nothin happened all night. That rumble needed Rhea its stupid not to have her. no one cares about the #1 contender

HANDSU

Women's match was good. Men's match-- it just happened. No moments at all, apart from R Truth. Just looked like a Raw Battle Royal.

Good-Cash2177

I guess they can’t make everyone happy. Men’s Rumble was one of my favourite of all time so I’m happy.

Newyork__nick

Men’s RR was very underwhelming and boring Women’s RR was the best women’s one thus far

KOStrongStyle

I agree. I enjoyed it.

frazettatome

I thought it was no better or worse than any average Rumble. There's only a handful of RRs that stick out as really good anyway. The only complaint I have is the rest of the card other than the men's and women's Rumbles. I wish there would have either been a more important match card, or else nothing at all ther than the two Rumble matches. It would have been good to have had Owens, Paul, Orton, LA Knight, and AJ in the Royal Rumble. Or, what happened to wrestlers pulling double duty? All in all it was satisfying though.

Direct_Mouse_6384

The rumble is mainly a sort of reset to set up the year and a lot of goofy fun, I loved it, people need to relax on the rumble cause that attitude of setting very high standards is tiring

JLPSports

The Rumble will always be a great show because its followed by a great Monday Night Raw. The follow up Raw to the Rumble usually showcases the call ups and the returning/debuting wrestlers. The Rumble was fine, I enjoyed the current roster getting some love (aside from the Pat Mcafee entry).

Jayfore

It was meh for me. I look to the Rumble for surprises and a throwback here and there. Jade Cargill and Naomi were sort of expected but I still saw those as a happy surprises. The men's really had no surprises. The KO/Logan match was good but anything with Roman is just so pointless to watch.

KilmoreJnr2020

Might be in the minority, but I actually enjoyed the lack of legends popping up and taking up rumble spots this year. It was honestly refreshing to have a bigger focus on the current roster and get them involved. And that Owens v Paul finish...*genius*

SeaworthinessOne170

The women's rumble was far more exciting than the men's this year. Its great for the division. The mens just felt like a formality of Cody winning. They had nothing else creatively other than to drop a few rumours about Gunter possibly winning, and they didn't really take off. But wow the women's match was fantastic. Honestly the fatal 4 way and us title matches were very meh too, as are all of Romans matches when everyone knows the outcome. And Logan Paul was hardly dropping before wrestlemania. Solid PLE though

chikchikblaow

The woman’s rumble was definitely better than the men’s even though both winners were probably predictable enough. The other two matches didn’t really do anything for me. Would have been happy for KO to have just won but I get the finish. I just can’t get behind any match Roman is in at the moment as you know the ending. The match could have still been better. La Knight looked good though throughout.

DemolitionCrush

I enjoyed the show. I liked that there were just four matches on the show. Felt a bit deflated with Cosy winning but that's just a personal thing. I thought the women's rumble was really good.

jasonkraatz314

I admit when Cody and Punk were the last two, I popped. I didn’t imagine any other two guys being last. I was expecting Cody and Punk to do another Hart / Luger spot in 1994 but I don’t know how that would have gone over with the fans. Looks like Cody gets his rematch. I’m excited.

dcollard88

Best way to enjoy WWE during Rumble & Mania season is to just stay off of social media. I loved the Rumble. I wasn't anticipating anything and wasn't trying to be in the know before the show. Every entrant felt special and each match was solid IMO.

Boston-Nolan

I thought it was solid. The fatal 4-way didn’t do it for me, didn’t see the point tbh and would’ve preferred a singles match between Roman and Randy. The women’s match was fun but filled with slip ups. The Logan Paul vs KO match was solid all around, creative ending too. The men’s match was solid but didn’t move the needle for me. It was pretty good the whole way through but never took that next step. 7/10

nerdsparks

the point of the four way is randy can't carry a 1 on 1 yet. AJ needs the push, LA knight stays relevant. 7/10 i think is accurate tho. I thought have the macafee spot so late was awkward. sami and punk should've switched spots. Womens rumble shouldve ended the night - but ehhh

[deleted]

Was terrible. 0/10 woman's rumble was a joke botch fest. Fatal 4 way sucked with a weak finish Men's rumble had the announcer puss out and made lame boring cody rhodes a 2x winner despite doing nothing in his career besides being dustys kid. Barely worth the data to stream honestly, won't even watch WM because who wants to see Cody vs Roman finish fest with the dumbest finishes possible.

GuitarzanWSC

This is such a stupid overreaction that you're got to be trolling. Go back to the AEW fan pages.

[deleted]

It's facts, how can adult sit there and watch this

mrcontroversy1

Worst part was Roman retaining. The rest was good. Bailey's win gives Evolution breaking up vibes.

Boston-Nolan

Of course he was gonna retain. In what world were they gonna take the belt off him when wrestlemania is right around the corner?

mrcontroversy1

If he retains at Wrestlemania we won't be seeing him until Summer Slam. I was hoping for Cody VS Randy for WWE title at Wrestlemania. Let Roman face The Rock in a non title match.

unitedfan98

He will drop at wrestlemania He hasn't been able to drop anywhere else after such a long title run Roman is only losing at Mania for the belts

AlwaysHungry94

Anybody who says it was bad clearly has not seen the 2014 Royal Rumble.

iSimp4God

No it wasn't bad. It was just mid. I don't think its praise worthy if its a rumble with 0 suprise entrances, one memorable moment (r truth), and a winner that everyone and their mother saw coming. Edit - My bad one single suprise entrant that was good. I forgot the womens rumble was better than mid.

celticwander77

I enjoyed the show, especially the women’s rumble. (Yay, Bayley!) Someone pointed out lack of energy. I agree with that and think we were seeing the collective shock of the VKM saga play out. Whether workers lived him or hated him, the entire system was shocked. If you’ve ever had to perform or even hit to work in the immediate aftermath of a car accident or death in the family (of someone you loved or hated) you carry that in your body. You can put 100% into it, but there is something deep inside that’s blocking what you know should be. I’m speaking from experience.

OakTown43

Lack of energy was the issue for me. I also enjoyed the women's rumble the most. I was a big fan of Shimmer and 1/2 the participants were Shimmer alumni so I was popping to see that. The Jade Cargill stuff was really cool and the right person won. Bayley's been the MVP of the WWE women's division for a long time. Then the show slid downhill. The 4-way had some nice moments, the Jake Paul/Kevin Owens match bored me to the point that I only noticed it was over when I saw commercials were on. And the men's rumble - one of my favorite annual events - was a big nothing with no special moments, no great energy and a really flat ending.

taychattack

I think it was fine. Aside from a few obvious bits, the women’s Rumble was pretty rough for the first half. Lots of botching and people wandering around completely lost. The second half was phenomenal though. Logan and KO was fun, albeit predictable… though the 4 Way literally could’ve been an email. Everybody’s time was wasted there. The men’s Rumble was nothing remarkable but it was definitely better than *most* of the men’s Rumbles in the past decade.

Lynnlync

The Rumble matches themselves were great. Only thing that kinda got me is that there were only 4 matches. I get it, the rumble matches are long but there could have been a couple more matches for the PLE

KindheartednessNo851

There was a Consistent lack of energy to the show!!

[deleted]

I actually really loved the rumble I just expected the worse and and came out nice I thought

HUNTR___

It was though. The women’s rumble carried that whole show. The title matches were horrible and then the men’s rumble was just there, like we knew only two people could win it so it felt like until Cody came in it was all pointless

inventionnerd

Yep, the men's match was booty. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Cody's ascension has come at the expense of a lot of people. 2 rumbles have been just about him and suffered for it. In another time, Sami or Jey would have won the title via Kofimania. We have had an extra year of Roman barely defending because we're waiting on it to be Cody's time. But hey, we'll have a new face of the company for another 8 years or so. What can anyone even say about the men's rumble? Anyone memorable? Any good spots? The 4 guys who cut promos for the rumble were the 4 finalists? That's the most choreographed final 4 ever. Literally Bron and Jimmy were probably the only highlights.

tkf99

There's still 2 world titles. Someone other than Cody (Sami, Jey, Drew, Gunther) could've still won the Rumble and challenged Rollins. Cody could've won his spot at Elimination Chamber.

inventionnerd

But then he wouldn't be a back to back rumble champ. That's a higher accolade than winning the chamber. Again, came at the expense of a lot.

tkf99

Now you're just complaining for the sake of complaining. What if they did a rematch of Roman vs Cody back in SummerSlam last year and Cody won? Would you complain about how Cody didn't win a second Rumble? Cody is there to finish his story by any means necessary. Has nothing to do with Rumble win accolades. Do you think a guy like LA Knight would prefer a Rumble win or a world title win? Ask Shinsuke that.

unitedfan98

Cody beating roman is fine Winning 2 rumbles for the same story is not interesting imo. Should have been a different winner one of the years

inventionnerd

I'm not sure you got my point lol. I'm actually saying Cody shouldnt have won the rumble and them pushing so hard hurt other guys who could have won the rumble and had a moment. Cody's going to get his moment. He doesn't need the rumble. Sure, no one cares about Rumble accolades... except WWE does and that's why they made him a b2b winner. To further his legitimacy as the future of the company.

dgvertz

My favorite part of the whole men’s rumble was that Cody got his full entrance, pyro and all. Like oh hey everybody, here’s your obvious winner or second place finisher.

_T1NJ_

I definitely don’t think it was bad, but it wasn’t really good either. The women’s rumble stole the show and then everything else felt kinda rushed. Glad to see Cody getting another title shot though

kovu_uso

I second this. The Women’s was damn near perfect, I’ve been describing the men’s as very average if not below. I also don’t think CM Punk looked good in the ring. I worry him and an injured Seth will have a very lackluster mania match

dgvertz

I sure hope they let Bayley vs. Rhea (or Io??) main event night one. Let punk and Seth open mania. The women’s rumble winner deserves to be in the main event spotlight

kovu_uso

My money is on Becky vs Rhea and Bayley vs Io. I think they tell a similar story to the fall of evolution with Bayley turning face and getting kicked out of the group. Wouldn’t complain with either of those matches main eventing

iRyan_9

I mean there’s really nothing special or at least out of ordinary that happened. The Wwe title match was awful and predictable And cody was the second most expected to win, and him winning is pretty much makes the whole last year a waste

mistar_z

Eh it was okay. I think I liked it a tiny bit more than last years, especially on the men's part. The women's was fun for the most part and no Botch entrant graphics this time. 😫

CaptainStu

6/10. The women's match was fantastic, the UU title match was shit, the US title match was shit and the men's match was very safe and average.

[deleted]

US title match was fire

CaptainStu

It was weapons grade crap - KO was carrying Logan the entire time, the ending was completely predictable and it's embarrassing that it was the first match (let alone defence) since winning the belt. Another title wasted on a part-timer and this one is even worse because he's not a real wrestler.

[deleted]

“He’s not a real wrestler.” - ☝️🤓 What’s a real wrestler then? The match was great. The ending was very, very creative and everyone looked great. The referee, KO, Logan, Theory, and Waller.

MikeHock_is_GONE

Commentary was genuinely hilarious.."Now the ref gets 20/20 vision!! (Incredulous)"

[deleted]

I wonder if he’s smart enough to know what a briefcase is. “What is this? You’re cashing-in? Cashing-in what? Money? Oh, Money in the Bank? Yeah! Money. We don’t accept cash, sir. Move along.”

asciiCAT_hexKITTY

BUT BUT BUT CM PUNK WAS THERE SO THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AJ LEE I don't get how fans are so stupid that they convince themselves that people will be coming to the rumble. We've known for months that WWE didn't want to pay Sasha as much as she wanted, and yet a bunch of people got disappointed that she didn't win the rumble.

Jackson29Mayor

The girls have started a good run, the PPV's well that's really debatable. The men's rumble was actually solid, well I just wanted Gunther to win, but life isn't a dream concert. And the shouting about legends is just annoying. Carlito was there and another old man called Punk if that isn't legend enough 🙈😂

EJayRi

People legit thought MJF, Mone/Sasha and Okada were surprise returns and had that ruin their experience. I saw all of IWC Twitter swearing this was all happening and dirtsheet Twitter accounts like Boozer saying shit hyping up the men's rumble and said returns. I do not recommend getting too excited over what Twitter or Reddit says and just enjoy the product for what it is. However, the pacing in the Men's rumble just wasn't good compared to last year's. Felt rushed and even a moment like Dom eliminating Bron fell flat because of them rushing to get JD out there. Still wasn't anywhere near one of the worst rumbles and I don't get people saying Cody winning was predictable since I basically saw everyone saying Punk or Gunther were winning. I like Cody winning considering Rollins is out on Raw and they need a big storyline like Punk and Drew being desperate for that Mania spot. I also wouldn't mind a Rollins Punk Drew triple threat at Mania either.

Brute_Squad_44

The men's rumble was average. It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible. It was ok. The women's rumble was fantastic. One of the better ones they've ever had. The Universal Title Match was ok. It did the business it needed to do. I think the plan is AJ/LAK at WM and maybe Orton v. Solo? The US title match was great, though the finish made KO look like a stooge. Overall it was a decent event with some highlights.

jmlarner

My only issue was having the universal title second and I would've liked to see someone other than bayley win just bc I'm not the biggest fan of her. I loved the final four of the men's rumble and would've been fine with any of them winning. Also still can't get over that KOD spot on the apron, shit was crazy

JoeMcKim

Storyline wise it made sense for Bayley to win the Rumble if she's going to face Iyo at WM. Since the rest of Damage Ctrl expect Bayley to choose Rhea Ripley as her WM opponent. But Bayley will surprise them all and announce she's coming after Iyo.

jmlarner

good point

RetroGeek82

I think they're doing much better at streamlining the card. Less "wasted" nostalgia spots. And putting Cody in at the midway point had you questioning if he was going to win. After all, isn't that the point? Suspension of disbelief and looking past the internet rumors and leaked card info

CelticDK

My only 2 issues with the PLE weren't even issues, just disappointments and those were Sasha not returning and Bron eliminating Omos alone, especially during an entrance and barely mentioned or recognized lol The Rumble was amazing to me! Awesome show

JoeMcKim

I'm pretty sure Bron was the replacement for Lesnar in the Rumble match. They had the match all planned out and Bron was the easiest guy they could plug in there to do some of the same stuff Brock would've done without having to rewrite the whole Rumble.

MikeHock_is_GONE

I wonder how the backstage conversations were on the Brock spot.. was he asked not to appear, did he decide to jump once again cause Vince quit, or was he trying to leverage Vince quitting for a pay increase and this time TKO said no.. wonder what was happening

CelticDK

Yup but during an entrance and lights off them and then no comment towards it afterwards was weird

Keithm1112

I thought it was good. The crowd could have been better. But they basically showcased the wrestlers who will be on TV the most going forward and tried to make them all look great. Idk I was a lapsed fan for a long time, came back around 2019 when they started signing a bunch of guys and I think right now they are really hitting a good stride with a lot of top talent. I do wish Roman was around a bit more, but I dont think he should be there every week either. I enjoyed his match but the Solo interference seems like trolling atp. and Seth has done a great job as Heavyweight champ. Theres also heavy optimism on the womens side, Charlottes injury leaves a void to be filled. Bayley winning was an amazing choice. She earned that win like a mf.

Chef_Taco97

Was there in person. Crowd was super hot all night with the exception of the US Title match and I think that was largely because it was placed poorly between the 4-way and men’s rumble. I got to a point where I had no voice from being so loud. There’s other threads saying this but that arena has TERRIBLE acoustics. So just throwing that out there.

ScarnonBra

I recently started watching wwe again as I bought tickets to elimination chamber, I watched religiously 2007-2017 then kind of slipped away to focus on life. It was the chamber being close to home and the fact that I was a fan for a long time that made me buy the tickets. It’s been strange getting familiar with a product full of people that were the ‘new guys’ when I stopped watching, who are now the veterans, as well as a bunch of new guys that I have no idea about. And the women’s competition is unlike anything I’ve seen in wwe before. I loved both rumbles, I thought it was awesome seeing the TNA knockouts champ as well as all the other surprise returns. I think the women’s rumble was a lot better than the men’s rumble on so many levels. 4 way was awesome. Glad I had done all my homework on the new WWE as well as the last couple years on TNA and the other one AEW so I was given the privilege of having a 100% mark out rate during both rumbles. Can’t wait for the chamber!

ultantheonion

are u saying wrestling fans are....... completely unreasonable?

JoeMcKim

No way that's ever been suggested. But seriously the MJF thing made like no sense. His shoulder is currenetly messed up pretty badly.

kratoskiller66

I think the royal rumble was great this year but I wish the crowd was better though. Other than that it was great

Observeronlyman

This year most of the hype was surrounding Sasha returning for arguably the biggest surprise you could imagine the disappointment.

JoeMcKim

I think if Sasha comes back to WWE it'll be not until EC or so. If Bayley is going to leave Damage Ctrl and choose to face Iyo at WM at EC it could be Bayley, Naomi and a surprise partner vs. Iyo, Asuka and Kairi.

[deleted]

Rumble was decent. All the upcommers looked good especially breaker they definitely need to get him on the main roster soon.

Ricoh881227

Either that when "insert wwe legends name" entering the RR, the fans will say "oh they should have been better used for current main roster" slot..

rahulk3097

There were no surprise returns. Only Andrade. And everybody kind of knew who will be the winner so nothing felt like unexpected.

Radtendo

it was meh

sh1tweasel

Bayley winning was excellent, she absolutely deserves it and a solid title run. She's the workhorse of the SD women's division and the one holding it together. So long as her title reign doesn't fall victim to LOLBIANCAWINS or LOLCHARLOTTEWINS every time they come face to face like when they're facing Iyo. I don't care for Cody or his stupid story at all. Hopefully Logan holds the US Title until WM40 - it's clear they want LA Knight in the title scene to generate cheap heat for Roman so Cody winds up even more popular and he's on the wrong show to face Gunther.

NapoleonZiggyPiggy

Has commentary always been this bad lately? I haven't watched a full PPV in a while.

Pedros_Poncho

You're correct. It wasn't bad. It was awful. Cody again? Blokes a mid card talent with a crap finisher that's getting a run as a top guy because his dad's dead. Roman wins again. He's like the Messi of the wrestling world. Protected by higher ups and given everything. Why? Because of his lineage and his cancer. How can he be talked about in the same breath as Hogan, Backlund and Sammartino, etc, when he's made what 5 title defences in his 1500 plus days as champion. Also, punks wrestling ability has deteriorated so much its unreal. I know he's older and not wrestled in a while, but I caught a few of his aew matches, and they were absolute horseshit too. On the plus side, R-Truth is an absolute gem. His timing and expressions are absolute gold us when performing he's excellent. Logan Paul is growing in me. Blokes is still a complete bellend along with his brother but can't deny his in ring ability is improving with every match. Women's rumble was pretty good. Bailey winning was unexpected but think it could turn out a very good decision.

BradPittsmustache

It was boring af and predictable my expectations were at 0 and I was still disappointed. It was my first rumble in years and I was excited but kept my expectations low.

LosMuchos

I really enjoyed the women’s rumble. It felt about as fresh as a rumble has been. As I don’t watch WWE much anymore (just rumble, mania and occasionally NXT) I had no idea who was going to win and had a blast watching all the possible winners go out. Was very happy with who won, I was rooting for her to do it! I thought the mens was very bland tho, and really didn’t care while watching, unlike the women’s. R-Truth’s stuff was great, but that’s about the only thing worth mentioning for me.

Square_Tea_1113

No, it was not. I would've loved for Becky Lynch to win it this year or for Mami to enter at 29 or thirty or something. But seeing Naomi return and Jade Cargill making her debut was good enough for me. I know that Cargill and Belair would make a great rivalry (as big as something like Orton and Cena was), but just imagine if those two formed a tag team. 😳 🔥

raamukakapaanwala

Jade and Bianca are good as individuals, why tag them

Square_Tea_1113

3 months later. I called it. 💯

Mwrp86

Rumble wasn't bad. It wasn't great either. Rumble resembles always to Legends and surprises . Maybe we will see some celeb or Unpredictable legend or some returns. HHH is dead focused on current era superstars. Which kind of negates the whole purpose of Royal Rumble . If it's 30 Current day superstar this might as well be 30 man battle royal without the entrance and anything. Let's take this as positive. HHH is more focused on Building superstars and staff. Still 2024 Royal rumble pales in comparison. in 2023 There were lot of little bits of stories and many future feud and past feud were implemented on the Rumble. Which was a welcome change. This year some obvious feud face offs happened . But that's it. Rtruth tag team spot was the highest spot of the rumble. Another thing is making Rumble bleak day by day is the obvious choices. We already knew Punk vs Rollins and Cody vs Roman is happening. We also sort of knew Becky vs Rhea and Baylay vs IYO happening. So Choices are obvious. Either Cody or Punk/ Either Becky or Baylay. No matter how much I hate Bootista or HHH winning at 2016 . It was surprising. Its not anticipated. Its fine if sometimes its bad surprise. I am not hater of Cody winning back to back. He honestly deserves it. But I would like this surprise where I wouldn't believe before him winning that Cody is winning back to back Royal Rumbles.

eldiablonacho

The women's Royal Rumble was the best match of the card in my opinion. I didn't care much for the US title bout or the Fatal Four Way. The men's Royal Rumble was not bad but probably what was expected in terms of who it came down to, and didn't have a problem with Cody going over CM Punk to go to WrestleMania to face presumably Roman, while CM will presumably face Seth, since things can change between now and then like injuries, health issues or other things that could make either match or both not a possibility.

Ricoh881227

Wholesome, because we have witness bayley and her jobbers control become a formidable force in one swoop.... heck putting the kabuki warriors women's tag champ on random go home show was "the real surprised"..

eldiablonacho

I don't follow what is going on in the promotion as closely as I used to. I watched it only because I was invited at a friend's residence to watch so I did. I don't follow the company on a regular basis anymore and haven't in a long time, so I have no idea what is happening on RAW, SnackDown and/or NXT on a regular basis.

Glass_Spinach_9535

People complaining about Cody winning the men's rumble need to understand the story behind it. Last year he was handed everything easily. He came in at #30, the easiest spot in the rumble and won the rumble and took an easier path till Wrestlemania where he lost against Roman. And throughout the year he was built up going through rock and hard places to claim back that spot. This year he came in much earlier in the Rumble and had a tough path to finally win it. Hence from a story sense of view, it should be perfect. That's what I think

Any-Curve663

WWE kinda killed the rumble back in 2014 with bootista feels like ever since that train wreck people have gone from seeing the rumble in a more favourable light to being allot more overtly critical of the ppv.

Mwrp86

2019 it was Seth Rollins .

Any-Curve663

Damn it was I'm getting old.

Elioni08

2023 Royal Rumble PPV still was better than this years

[deleted]

It was ok just not very good. We got same outcome as last year ab punk should’ve won to challenge Seth Rollins an then cody should’ve been built up to challenge an defeat Roman at wrestlemania

RedFox9906

I enjoyed the Rumble, don’t know what people are complaining about.

[deleted]

Most wanted punk to win.

LordRuxin

Everyone I talked to ahead of time, who was actually there (myself included), wanted Cody to win.  We didn’t think that was going to be allowed to happen, but that’s what we were wanting

Herroz1

All I did was take a passive interest in Vince McMahon being a sleazy monster by reading a few posts. And now Reddit assumes that I am some huge wrestling fan I don't know who any of these people are that you guys are talking about, but I do find it kind of interesting how different everything is since I used to watch wrestling. One of the last visited things that I remember was Kurt angle spraying down everybody with a milk truck. I am aware of who John Cena is, but I don't think I've ever actually seen him wrestle. And I remember when Chyna and Trish stratus were basically the only female wrestlers that seemed to have any comparable talent to men. For what it's worth I hope you guys and girls aren't really that disappointed about this show, it's nice to have fun hobbies and from what I remember wrestling was a really great escape.

RandomThoughts606

I don't think it was that horrible. I liked most of the results. Granted I thought they were going to hand the rumble to CM Punk, but I'm wondering If that was maybe the original plan and they changed things up because of Rollins' injury. I liked the end of Logan Paul and Kevin Owens. Mostly just because it builds heat and they can keep this thing going as opposed to just having Logan Paul in random title matches. Take it beyond a simple title defense and start making it into a real feud. Women's rumble I was actually surprised on. Was nice to see a couple of faces back like Liv Morgan and Naomi, but I didn't think they were going to end it to Bailey. I know they kept talking about making her a grand slam champion, but I just felt like she didn't really have the heat to go there. Now I'm just wondering if she's going to end up in a feud with damage control and go after Iyo Sky's title. The fatal four-way I didn't have any high hopes for and didn't think much of it. There was no way that Roman was going to lose that one. Mainly again because it's so obvious they're going to have him lose the title at WrestleMania. Just doesn't seem to be a point in watching any of these matches. Maybe they should have had something happen like one of the opponents gets angry and does something to injure Reigns and take some out of action until WrestleMania. Lord knows he can still show up and do interviews and such with a cast or something like that.

Sky_Rose4

It wasn't as bad as 2 years ago, I actually found it quite enjoyable

dissidentmage12

I thought it was great, like every Rumble it was a bit messy in parts but it was a really fun show with some cool spots and some surprises, glad I woke up to watch it.

herbieLmao

The ppv as a whole was great, but the womens rumble stole the cake

Alternative_Ad_5334

What I don't get is how Alpha Academy all, declare for the rumble, and only Maxinne shows up. I was looking forward to Otis doing the caterpillar.

randomgamerdude4242

Overall, no. It wasn’t bad. The Women’s Rumble and the US title matches are tied for highlights of the show. The Men’s Rumble wasn’t spectacular or anything “wow”, but it was great and entertaining start to finish. The only negative was, hilariously, the F4W for “the most prestigious title in sports entertainment. Which is face palm worthy lame, because it had four of the greatest entertainers in the industry today competing in it. WWE wasted that match, as it was. Thankfully, the Women’s Rumble alone stole the show and the US title match was chef’s kiss good too.

etlecomtedeblaine

The men's rumble has been fairly predictable for the past few years, which is a huge part of it. It's not really about surprises, more-so just the names entering the rumble are not the "biggest/likeliest" to win the rumble, so you realistically only have 2-3 people who will win that it just becomes very stale.

brOwnchIkaNo

No MJF out of 10

KOjustgetsit

First rumble I've watched in many years. It was quite good, though not amazing. Of course I wanted AJ/Sasha but didn't mind that it didn't happen. Those saying worst rumble ever need to chill the f out. Do y'all not remember 2014/2015?

tsunamitom1-

Honestly I really enjoyed the show, maybe I was high and that was why. But it was a fun show. The title matches were good, both Rumbles were not bad, sure not really any surprises except Jordynne and the return of Andrade, but 2022 was bad, it was so bad I turned it off half way through, I almost never turn off a Rumble because they’re fun. But this was a good one

[deleted]

Fans' high expectations often lead to disappointment in the Royal Rumble, but it's essential to recognize that not all wrestlers may be available or willing to make appearances.

Far_Athlete50

I don't think Mcafee and Priest needed to be in tho

randomgamerdude4242

I wonder if McAfee may have been a Lesnar fill in. Which, if so, was hilariously done. I’d run from Omos too.

Far_Athlete50

Apparently McAfee didn't know he was in until his music hit🤣 so that was all improv.
