mostly used in supersonics, deploying the airbrake and killing the throttle lets you quickly lose speed, which makes the controls less compressed, losing even more speed
this makes jets like the mig29 turn on a dime and very quickly change direction
for supermaneuverables, it also lets you detach the airflow for advanced maneuvers
it also makes it easier to reach the "sweet spot" speed where the jet handles best
I like that a bunch of people talked shit about the Fox and RARDEN and now are getting dunked on by the British R3 gremlin.
I love how WT can make vehicles people think would suck dominate and also the other way around.
I think a lot of people are really bad at not driving straight into the enemy, so the community has the idea that light vehicles and autocannons are a lot weaker than they actually are. People are then extremely surprised when they press the A or D keys and suddenly discover a world of shooting into the sides of tanks that probably can't do much about them besides relying on oblivious team mates.
I like it because it’s a place where you can fly/drive or steam vehicles that don’t exist or aren’t in a useable condition anymore, the models are really nice and look good, that in itself is pretty cool!
I’ll never be able to buy a real P40 but I can in war thunder and that’s pretty fun.
Also I like the grind, so many games now it’s to easy or they give players everything at once because people have the attention span of a chicken and if they don’t get everything right away they drop the game and move on
This! The variety is a real gem. No other games like this around except for the ‘World of X,” series. Even the grind is fun if you go into it with patience.
As a new player coming from games like enlisted I was positively surprised with the grind. First of all you unlock fun upgrades for the vehicle you are using, but also grinding for a new vehicle is still fun and when you do unlock it its very rewarding.
That sweet dopamine hit when you make a great shot. Like a couple days ago when my 88mm round connected with a Sherman at 1200m on El Alamein, sending his turret into orbit.
I'm a newbie who started like two weeks ago and I find it a lot like golf lol. I make ten thousand bad shots and die quickly all the time but then I make that one sweet kill and it keeps me coming back again.
It's because you decidedly made the shot, against all the different factors that can affect your thought. While COD might be gratifying when you outsmart someone around the corner or get a streak of kills in succession, needing to play by your tank's more numerous characteristics like agility and firepower means you are executing a lot more planning to get around your weaknesses. When a plan goes right, it makes the dopamine rushes go crazyyyyy
Main Battle Tanks doing Main Battle Tank things.
While being driven by utter pillocks. As CAS abuses us and fighter cover is non-existent. With big explosions everywhere making my monkey brain happy. Turret tosses. Ammo explosions. Occasional bouts of epic heroism followed by routine stupidity. Absolute rat behaviour. Seeing “don’t let memes be dreams” as an Ostwind, horrifically uptiered, does goofy shit, while a WW2 Puma caps and decaps points.
I had World of Tanks for 10+ years to do the WW2 thing. And Armoured Warfare was a non-starter. I wish the time periods were separate….for other peoples sake, so my coming in with “hello yes, I like to spend money” didn’t affect win-rates. At least I bought a lineup and play much more cautiously then most of my fellow wallet warriors. Occasionally even, I’m helpful!
I enjoy the basic gameplay loop of ground RB and sometimes Sim. I would enjoy RB EC as well. I love having a sprawling digital model collection to dress up that doubles as a form of reference tool. I find great pleasure in driving tanks and planes I've read about for 30 years and using some of that accumulated knowledge in tactical, asymmetrical, skill-based PvP gameplay. This game has held my attention for longer than any others save WoW and EVE back in the day, and replaced them both.
Honestly I enjoy just about everything about the game. Aspects of it can be improved, and are often worked on; I have no problem viewing the devs and imperfect humans trying to do the best job they can on a very unique experience in the gaming world. I've paid them a fair bit of money and I've gotten plenty of enjoyment from it.
I like it's realism
Not in terms of gameplay, it's obviously very arcadey but i like how the vehicles are generally implemented how they were in real life. Something that annoys me in WoT is how half the tanks are basically made up and i know that there are a fair few prototype or mockup tanks in WT but the vast majority are reasonably true to life and i like to look at them and play them
"To pen the enemies, see them burning before you , hear the lamentations of their teammates."
Every time my Puma or M8 pulls off a successful flanking.
The LÉ Órla. Don't own the yoke, and I'm not spending half the fuckin price of a triple A game for it, but I enjoy test driving and just having some Irish representation in War Thunder.
My favorite thing about this game is the sheer amount of vehicles, both production and prototypes, that I read about constantly as a kid. Being able to fly a SNEB'd out Corsair is my favorite thing, gameplay wise
despite the hate the game gets, i still think it’s a good game that can be really enjoyable at times. it’s one of the few games i come back to regularly to play and have fun with. what i like most about war thunder is playing it 🙏
What do I like about WT?
Honestly War Thunder is one of the most complicated and interesting games I have played. I love playing through all the tiers and nations with interesting and very different tanks. The game feels more like a game of chess (at least at mid tier air and ground) and high speed checkers (at top tier ground). There is a lot of strategy and micro decisions that can cascade into overwhelming victory or defeat. Sometimes getting gaijined is the worst but I don’t let it get the best of me, if I sit and fester on those issues than I will only grow more angry and tired which is not a good mindset for a game like this as it only make your plays more emotionally charged and more sloppy.
I have already got the vehicles that interest me so many of the vehicles are just bonuses. It is extremely satisfying to nail a cross map (without a LRF) or get a crisp one shot with a plane (109Z is an example). Wining a hard fought and prolonged dogfight is always fun as well, sadly I see people who lose these fights and take it to heart.
I have a way of thinking that has helped me to enjoy the game: 1. “The game isn’t out to wrong you or out to get you.” And 2. “Someone will get destroyed and someone will be doing the destroying.”
That is why War Thunder is one of my favorite games of all time.
For me it’s the variety. No other game has it to War Thunder’s extent. You want planes? You have that. You want tanks? You have that. You want helis? You have that. You want warships? You have that!
Even the game modes. Like Arcade, RB, and SB. There’s really nothing quite like War Thunder. And despite all of the problems this game has it’s still a ton of fun in one way or another.
The planes, its the only reason why i play war thunder, i dont like tank battles, and dont even know how people can like them, you just get to spawn in a tank, then, get killed by some stupid sniper located at the other side of the map or some dude camping behind a rock, also br in tanks is so diferent than in planes, if you are in a tank two br avobe another tank, you probably cant even recieve damage from that tank, and also, the heavy tanks are halarious, to destroy them you have to aim at that 4 pixel zone on the right part of the turret, what the hell?! In plane battles you can easily destroy a plane 4 br avobe you if you are skilled enough, and if you get kiled, is your faul, either because you weren't good enough or you were distracted. But i think i understand why people like tank battles, in plane battles you can kill a plane or two, three if you are lucky enough, but tank battles? You can easily end the match with more than 8 kills. So well,
Planes are superior, thanks
It’s just cool to play all of these vehicles from all of these countries that don’t really appear in other games. I mean what other games have the T10M? Or the T34 Heavy? Or the AMX50 Super based?
I like its accuracy, no wonder gaijin has put a lot of pride in it but there are some issues about the game like the hitbox of the buildings from that one map
I just love that is has so many tanks from different eras rather than just focusing on one period of time. I can't think of a better way of learning how to recognise tanks and other vehicles.
Big shiny toys going vroom vroom bang bang, and pretend to be realistic without me needing to learn much. Many toys, really big pile of toys getting bigger on a regular basis.
Also... Did I mention it's lot of shiny toys going bang, vroom, (vacuum cleaner noises) and kaboom, ra-tatata?
I am simple man with simple needs. And I like toys going bang bang, vroom vroom, ra-tatata.
I like that it's more realistic compared to certain other war simulation games *\*cough\** Wargaming *\*cough\**.
I like that happy feeling you get when you, after climbing for 15 minutes and fighting like half that time, you finally get that kill on that one person.
I like the grind. It's pain if you obsess with it, but it gives me a feeling of accomplishment when I get that vehicle I want.
I like the music. I think the music is the most underrated feature of the game.
for a game as diverse as wt, it's size is pretty damn small. this game easily have double, or triple the number of vehicles when compared to something like wot. it's one of the reason why i switched to wt instead of wot
also, it sits on the middle ground between arcade and simulator, which not many has tried afaik
this game got potential, it's just the devs are mostly incompetent
I am here for the Easy 8, 105 Sherman wearing the construction worker uniform, Tiger 1H, object 292 and BMD-4. Those are my most fun tanks so far. SepV2 runner up because it looks wacky
I like how many random things can happen in war thunder no matter if they are good or bad, sometimes I'm speechless and sometimes I'm like WHAAATT?? lol, I also like meme vehicles like, l3, m22 r3 just to name a few and I can't forget Tutels in war thunder have a special place in my heart!
When it wants to work, it is the most realistic vehicle combat simulator on the market with the most variety of vehicle eras. However several things like its monetization scheme, poor implementation of things like CAS in GRB, balancing issues (poor fucking France man), the self serving devs over at gaijin that don’t really listen to us until we make them, THE GRIND and general issues with being an online multi-player focused game make that pretty rare the more you play.
Free to play, looks great, and filled with tons of vehicles you'd never get to drive/pilot in other games. The ability to switch between WWII, Cold War, and Current Gen all in the same game is just...awesome.
Can it be frustrating? Absolutely. But it's PvP; they're all frustrating.
I've been obsessed with tanks and planes since I was a little kid, and I developed a passion for history (especially military) that remains strong even now. There's little I love more, and finding another outlet for that is always a very enjoyable experience. It prompted me to study more than ever before, and introduced me to a lot of things I'd never learned about.
War Thunder was like an answer to a dream when I first saw it. A game where you can not only fly planes and drive tanks from throughout history, but you can also use them together in combined-arms battles against other players. They even introduced helicopters and boats/ships too. To this day, it's still amazing for that fact alone.
I also fucking love customizing my vehicles every single time I unlock a new one. Getting a new tank, researching its history and service, looking for examples of markings, then creating my own authentic vehicle. Getting a new decal, researching its origins, figuring out which vehicle to best use it on, making them look even more unique. Earning a new decoration, matching it to the nation and era it's from, adding some character.
It's too bad Gaijin fucks up nearly everything about this game, including the aspects I enjoy so much. It really could be my favorite thing in existence, but instead it's a worse love/hate relationship than fucking Destiny. At least that, I was able to quit, cold turkey. This keeps me trapped.
May be controversial but I absolutely love air combat in air RB in mid-tier props (basically late rank 2 into early rank 4). For me over the 8 years I’ve been playing it’s never gotten stale
Any type of self proppeled artilery tank like the MG109 2S3M and more. Are some of the DIEGUSTING RIDICULOS SNIPERS IN THE ENTIRETY OF THIS FUCKING GAME. I CANNOT RESEARCH BECAUEE OF THESE MONSTERS. DEAR GAIJIN HELP ME GET RID OF THESE PESTS
air rb is peak gameplay unironically.
from 3.7-5.0 and 7.0-8.7 is the most fun I’ve ever had online (when not playing with friends)
it’s essentially a shooter where your reactions matter a lot less… and my reactions are shit so that’s good for me. if you use ur brain you can do a lot better, so it’s this weird mash of dogfight tactics, match strategy, and quick aiming.
As an american aviation enthusiast, the fact that the game can have so many obscure air vehicles and sometimes simulate them and their mechanics very well.
Amount of vehicles, detailed models with parts that can break like, no helath barss and stuff, and... and... thats... thats it? thats all this game has to offer thats good? how?
I like that its a "realistic" combined arms war sim thats approachable for the casual gamer or enthusiast, I just think it needs better management or at least a bit of competition. World of (insert vehicle type here) doesnt count, as its pure arcade
Just the fact you cand die/kill in one well placed shot, not as other games as WOT that a tank can survive 100 shots and still be good to go... beside that it's fucking pay to win and broken AF
I like it because its not World of Tanks.
In all seriousness, the actual reason I like the game is because it has a level of detail and realism that no other game has. There is no random spread in War Thunder (fuck you WOT) and every time I die, I know it was my error that caused it.
I was sniped from 2000m away? I wasn't maneuvering from cover correctly.
I die to a tank I was engaged with around a corner? I wasn't patient enough.
Hell, if I die from a helicopter from 10k away, I clearly haven't taken the proper precautions when playing against 11.0 Russia.
This is the one game that I never blame for my plights.
"And I don't regret a second of it."
After leaving the army as 19k. I wanted a hobby for my love of tanks. Models, posters, memorabilia, etc. War thunder was not that, the absolute anger and tedious grinding for pixel tanks was just grating on my nerves
When War Thunder gets fun, you really feel it in your bones lol and the real vehicle catalogue is huge, with extra historical designs that aren't the most real but have tempted us all to see on the battlefield. So much potential has been used and is still available for the game to improve on.
Unfortunately the pendulum swings so rapidly for War Thunder with the various bad game designs or negligence to core aspects of the game like the insane lack of variety in game modes.
The T-54 1947/49/51, T-55A, T-55AMD, T-55AM-1, TO-55, Type 59, Type 69, Type 69-II, ZTZ-59D1, ZTZ-59A, Type 62 and the ZTZ-88B/A. I love these tanks, they make my experience better and game fun
I like it because it rewards skill. Most times when I die, I can look back and see where I made a mistake and lost. It’s a good motivator to get better.
NOTHING THIS GAMES SUCKS WORST GAME EVER SPAWN CAM- *Target destroyed* Well ,its not that i like you or anything , ok.
Mhm

Is that a OWB reference?
*DR. MOBIUS!!!!!!*
No joke Dr mobius was like the actually good guy I felt sympathy for Dr mobius I spent more than I should had trying not to fight him
Secret tank leaked.
Average day on the Warthunder forum
blud accidentally posted his class notes lmao
Looks like either UShistory or World history lol
Railroad Strike (1867)
when you win because you're smarter than your enemy, nothing beats pulling off an airbrake turn and seeing the enemy overshoot and then eat a missile
and when you lose its because some noskill numbnut decided to play singleplayer in a pvp game. yes i'm a fighter main how can you tell.
I have flown for many hours, but what on earth is an airbrake-turn?
mostly used in supersonics, deploying the airbrake and killing the throttle lets you quickly lose speed, which makes the controls less compressed, losing even more speed this makes jets like the mig29 turn on a dime and very quickly change direction for supermaneuverables, it also lets you detach the airflow for advanced maneuvers it also makes it easier to reach the "sweet spot" speed where the jet handles best
I like that a bunch of people talked shit about the Fox and RARDEN and now are getting dunked on by the British R3 gremlin. I love how WT can make vehicles people think would suck dominate and also the other way around.
Anyone who thought the fox wouldn't be good... Clearly doesn't know how to properly run the warrior
The game is quite frustrating at times – many times actually. But it's fun. Like really fun.
Getting 7 kills in one life and carrying my teammates
• Bitch-slapping planes with HE-VT (usually in naval, I don't have the skill for it in ground) • Thwacking someone with a big-as HE shell

I love how it got me even more interested in reading up on WW2 history than I already was.
I can play a variety of things and it helps with my adhd brain. I also like how mindless it is
Tanks cool
It gets my autism stirred up
\- Stupidly fast and lethal tanks (france my beloved) \- Stupidly big APHE rounds (isu-152 my beloved)
When my ping is under 300. (This is a fantasy for Australia)
DEAR GAIJIN HELP ME GET RID OF THESE PESTS
air rb is peak gameplay unironically. from 3.7-5.0 and 7.0-8.7 is the most fun I’ve ever had online (when not playing with friends) it’s essentially a shooter where your reactions matter a lot less… and my reactions are shit so that’s good for me. if you use ur brain you can do a lot better, so it’s this weird mash of dogfight tactics, match strategy, and quick aiming.
Still trying to figure it out
Nothing, but i like the music
As an american aviation enthusiast, the fact that the game can have so many obscure air vehicles and sometimes simulate them and their mechanics very well.
Right now..opening my chests and closing the game. Too many amazing cheaters to avoid.
German tanks are the best part of WT for me, they're just the best
Amount of vehicles, detailed models with parts that can break like, no helath barss and stuff, and... and... thats... thats it? thats all this game has to offer thats good? how?
Target destroyed activates dopamine release.

I like sarh missiles 🗣️
I like that its a "realistic" combined arms war sim thats approachable for the casual gamer or enthusiast, I just think it needs better management or at least a bit of competition. World of (insert vehicle type here) doesnt count, as its pure arcade
It’s probably the best ww2 plane and tank game. The grind is the only thing that makes it bad. And really that’s for post ww2 stuff.
France makes an appearance lol. Playing on Xbox barely any game out there other than war Thunder and Verdun that let's me play as a french faction
EVERYBODY GET DOWN IT'S A GERMAN MAIN
I like wt because I hate it.
Just the fact you cand die/kill in one well placed shot, not as other games as WOT that a tank can survive 100 shots and still be good to go... beside that it's fucking pay to win and broken AF
"target destroyed"
The lack of black people
Of all the games I’ve played, this one is war thunder.
I like the sheer shenaniganry that can be dealt to a random enemy team with a squad.
I like Italy cuz there funny to play and somehow op as shit I got 7 kills in the l3/33 cc try me*gets one shot by a t26* well shit
Boom boom
The range of vehicles and the +10 Xp on mental health after destroying a target uptiered
LOSAT
The Bkan. Can never go wrong with it. Maybe the ammo count but you'll die before you run out so its totally fine.
The tiger 2 I'm so in love with it
I love getting that perfect bomb toss
The fact that I can be in a Modern era Abrams only to get one tapped by a Swedish auto cannon that comes out every year. Also I also like L3/33.
The puma is one of my favorite tanks
We all are addicted to the "Target Destroyed" let's be honest
HE
The dopaminergic effect of seeing an APHE shell penetrate an enemy tank and blow up inside. I live for the shell cam videos (unless it happens to me)
T 90 go 💥💥💥
Does anyone here actually enjoy the naval side?
The ricochet noise
Tank and plane go pew pew 👌
Give Leopard 2PL its missing spall liner!
Not getting assaulted by planes in GRB. I hate this game.
After leaving the army as 19k. I wanted a hobby for my love of tanks. Models, posters, memorabilia, etc. War thunder was not that, the absolute anger and tedious grinding for pixel tanks was just grating on my nerves
Took 4,000 hours in my life just to complete the murica and jap naval tree them alone.. I Recomend 👍
THE PAIN. NO PAIN NO GAIN
Absolutely nothing the last major update was dogshit adding the M109 to every fucking tech tree and the worst map ever second to vietnam flanders
dude accidentally posted his class notes lol
I have so many complaints but that goddam. "target destroyed" keeps activating my neurons so it's all forgiven. 10/10 game
The graphics. That's it.
