My other option which is only really possible in the Harrier GR.1 is to fire an SRAAM at the incoming missile and then win the head on which often goes how you imagine.
Super easy, climb and boom and zoom. Super lucky, incompetent enemies. You don't head on A-10 unless you are a F105. Just stay 2km away and high and your safe.
You lost an elevator and a rudder and minor aerodynamics and control. The A-10 has redundancy, you still had an elevator and rudder.
The A-10 can take a beating and still stay in the fight. Wait till you lose a whole wing and still manage to bring it home.
He's lucky a single engine of his didn't burn for 0.001s otherwise his control surfaces would get evaporated and he'd dart to eart as stiff as an arrow

Yeah the A-10's damage model is actual horseshit sometimes. Though the Su-25 isnt all that much better. If your rudder gets shot off its gonna lose control and flatspin within a few miliseconds.
It should be stronger IMO. Engine fire shouldn't damage the plane at all that is the point of the engine pods. It has triple redundant control systems.
