I had to give them all of my info and the name of my friend's parents so they check that I'm supposed to be here, and all was fine after. They did take a pic of my papers which frightened me a bit (I'm Black, idk) but nothing else happened fortunately (the audition went well but I wasn't picked lol)
Smoke detectors detect particles in the air because smoke is just a bunch of small soot and ash particles. Steam, that can be seen, is not a gas, but small particles of water (it's fog), so it can be detected. At my university, we had a similar alarm caused by dust from the destroyed wall.

Its to keep the staircase safe of smoke so you can still use it to evacuate.

Because its normal. in a fire scenario the fire doors shut to prevent smoke and fire getting into the stairway so people can still flee through there.

If the location is monitored, the monitoring company will likely call people they have listed as emergency contacts such as the building owner, maintenance supervisor, etc. to verify if the alarm is legitimate or false before they call the fire department.
If the location is not monitored, then the alarm will keep ringing until someone calls the fire department or disarms the system. You'll see a sign posted by the exterior alarm: if alarm is ringing, call 911.
The contact info for the monitoring company is usually on a sticker placed on the fire panel or the annunciator.

The company that had the training done to their workers, had to pay like a few thousand euros for false alarm. I'm in Europe so idk about the US.

Fire department or building will reset it after they’ve verified it’s a false alarm. Most of these are directly connected to emergency services.

Ours were never fire alarm activated. They just swing shut automatically.
Ours were noise activated... Which means the fire alarm, or noisy screaming children, set them off. Others were heat activated.

Ours has "Warning: Alarmed system" on the box that holds the AED. I think it triggers the second it's opened.
