It looks like a Rolex attempted to reproduce with a Breitling, and nothing good happened. Still, it's a super story.

In defense of Grandad, this watch was never pretending to be a Rolex. Maybe it's a heavy inspiration, but "copy" to me suggests "fake". I'd argue there's enough here (even if you covered the maker name) to show it's clearly not a Sub.

The case, bezel, and bracelet are similar to a Rolex Submariner in style. The dial, hands, and markers are not. But it’s my best guess.
