Actually he's in Iceland. He touching the North American **tectonic plate** and the Eurasian **tectonic plate** at the same time. He's not touching what we call North America.

Plate: shifts
Fun and games turn into musical plates, where the music is grinding grating noises, and the plates have no partyfood on them
That's so creepy. I'm not going to enjoy the next time tectonic plates collide if I'm there for it. And I live on the ring of fire, and I'm on an island, so I'm probably screwed if the plates ever shift in a major way.
I do as well, but I’m gonna enjoy it, like “hey the plates are colliding and breaking up around me and I’m next to multiple volcanoes but hey I got Pringles and Netflix!”
They very very slowly are pulling apart year over year. No clue if there would ever be dramatic or catastrophic shift. Iceland does have very active geothermal activity.
I snorkeled here a couple years ago. Really cool experience. The water is like 36 degrees which obviously you don’t feel in the suit, but your face goes numb the second it touches the water.
It's not as spooky as this picture makes it out. It's crystal clear water and at its deepest I think maybe 60ft, and you can see all the way to the bottom. It's just rocks and teenie tiny fish. The water is virtually sterile.
I went there a few years ago and did the snorkeling tour. It was really cool! It’s called Silfra fissure if you want to look it up, there’s tons of photos online.
The scuba diving tour is pretty expensive and you need a scuba license, which makes it even more expensive if you don’t already have one. I believe you can pay for a 2-3 day thing where you first get your license and then on the last day, you do the actual tour like in the photo here.
Technically this is just the trench between two tectonic plates, it's located in the middle of the ocean pretty much, not in either of the continents (I know I'm being pedantic)
I think I get what you mean. For me it’s thinking that in either direction is the start of a massive expanse of continents and you’re just there, tiny in the middle of it all.
I snorkeled through here is 2016. It wasn’t as exciting as I’d hoped, but the hot chocolate and cookies after being in that cold water was really delightful!
I was trying to figure out why my immediate reaction was worrying about them closing shut. I knew it was something from my childhood and not the years of oceanography and environmental science classes.
You just unlocked my childhood memory that lies at the center of my claustrophobic reaction to two walls close together.
Ummm source?... This is under water, and clearly i don't see either the eiffel tower or big ben or the statue of liberty, so this isn't europe and america sir
It’s strange to think that they think they are “touching NA and EU at the same time” in their mind. In reality, they are just standing between and touching rocks.
It is a very cool picture nonetheless
I realize that is technically correct as he is touching the tectonic plates for each continent but it still seems like a wildly optimistic interpretation of "continent"
I call bullshit on this because North America and Europe are thousands of miles apart....not even remotely close to be able to do this.
Nice try though.
Twist: this man is 2,500 miles tall.
Wide
Actually your arm span is supposed to be similar to your height.
This is true lol I am just annoying
Happy cake day
Thank you! Y’all making me want real cake

Thanks pal
Happy cake day
Thank you shark person
You're welcome apocalyptic! I welcome all in my universe
Happy cake day
No one else has those dimensions other than your mom
Colossal titan?
If that were the case how far is the camera man? I know somebody out there can calculate this
It’s all fun and games until a plate decides to shift
But if he lived, imagine the story he could tell.
Spoiler: He didn't.
> fun and games Plate: shifts Fun and games turn into musical plates, where the music is grinding grating noises, and the plates have no partyfood on them
And they leave a bunch of half drunk beers everywhere
These plates are moving apart instead of towards each other
But if you think about it, they are moving towards each other.... they're just doing it the long way lol
Thank God someone finally said it 🤣
Alas these plates are moving apart.
They move apart.
It'll probably move like 10cm per year
I’m not in love…
I don't know how you pieced that together, but thank you for reminding me of that song.
In this case aren't they pushing apart? He would be fine.
*crunch*
I am currently high, and this idea is absolutely terrifying.
Lmao
Very true, though this is a divergent boundary, so I guess he gets a fighting chance. Of course, it’s also volcanically active, so there’s that
Is this the new Indiana Jones movie?
*looks at map* did I miss a page?
Silfra fissure in Iceland. Where the European and NA tectonic plates meet and have been slowly moving apart a few cm every year.
That's so creepy. I'm not going to enjoy the next time tectonic plates collide if I'm there for it. And I live on the ring of fire, and I'm on an island, so I'm probably screwed if the plates ever shift in a major way.
RIP homie. I call your cat if you have one.
Okay, I got dibs on the wife
Can I try a bite of both?
Eating pussy either way?
I too, choose this mans wife.
Of age daughter? Or sister? Or maybe even mother? ... Cmon I'm getting desperate here!!
I do as well, but I’m gonna enjoy it, like “hey the plates are colliding and breaking up around me and I’m next to multiple volcanoes but hey I got Pringles and Netflix!”
It's happening right now - that's how the Himalayas are lifted as India slams into Asia
What are you doing step-tectonic plate?
Is that a catastrophic event? Or does the ground just slowly bulge out at like an inch a year? I'm honestly ignorant here.
They very very slowly are pulling apart year over year. No clue if there would ever be dramatic or catastrophic shift. Iceland does have very active geothermal activity.
They’re moving apart
I snorkeled here a couple years ago. Really cool experience. The water is like 36 degrees which obviously you don’t feel in the suit, but your face goes numb the second it touches the water.
That's 2°C for us living on und other plate
You know, this situation may be one of the best times to use the phrase “in Iceland”…… more literal than usual (even if a bit offshore)
It's not offshore. It's in Thingvellir national park.
Cool, so literally in Iceland
Ya, close to Reykjavik, very cool place. Home of the oldest continuing democratic parliament in history.
Yes because many pages are stuck together for some reason in your map book!
You seem to have misspelled fap book.
continental plates i think

Thank you for this info! I read that and feel better and then look at the pic again and instantly feel uncomfortable again and I don’t know why

Maybe don’t check out r/thalassophobia
If the sides are different continents, what is the bottom considered?
Technically this is just the trench between two tectonic plates, it's located in the middle of the ocean pretty much, not in either of the continents (I know I'm being pedantic)
Ah okay makes sense
I think I get what you mean. For me it’s thinking that in either direction is the start of a massive expanse of continents and you’re just there, tiny in the middle of it all.
‟Pull harder unknown scuba hero. Unite NA and Europe to end the relentless acrimony and squabbling!”
I'm imagining that scene where Captain America pulls the helicopter closer, but with the continents.
I did this once when I fucked my girlfriend from Italy.
I did this once when I fucked your girlfriend from Italy.
You son of a bitch!

I scrolled too far looking for this.
Not weird, r/damnthatsinteresting
r/thalassophobia
I hate everything about this photo. This is where monsters come up from.
Iceland? Friend of mine was diving in the same place a month or so ago.
Silfra
How deep does that go?
60ft.
Someone should doctor a Great White coming up from below.
Good touch or bad touch?
Shut down all the garbage mashers on the detention level, will ya? Shut down all the mashers on the detention level!
R2! We were too late! Listen, they are screaming!

Do they want to be touched?
Something something [Tom Scott](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-khe6IY9bTM).
>Continental Drift Divide The scuba diver is Leonard Bernstein.
I didn’t realize that there was a place that they were this close together
I wouldn’t call this weird.
Actually, this is kind of a huge mindfuck, so maybe it is weird.
I wouldn’t call this r/weird more like r/nextlevel
What if someone goes into labor between the 2 locations?
Global economic collapse
Done that! Its in iceland and its so much colder than it looks
Sir Can I see your passport?
Somebody needs to post this guy in r/bossfight as the shifter of tectonic plates or smth
Guy pushes to hard on the plate and europe is gone
Source?
Yes we all see that you have money and time…quit showing off!
This belongs on r/pics if it’s real, not here
1. its not weird 2. legit can do this anywhere else 3. why do people still think these pics are cool there just cash grabs but internet
yup, you can clearly see how those rocks on the left look significantly dumber than those on the right
As a European, reading the same old jokes about Americans being dumb is tiresome and gets old really fast.
As an American we know they are wrong. Your country was created by a dictator. That’s dumb as fuck
I was not, in fact, suggesting that Americans are dumb. Your comment doesn't help though.
Just egotistical, but many other countries are the same.
A Florida man?
Iceland and Greenland?
That or somewhere by France/Spain
Just Iceland

I won't do it. You can't make me do it.
Ummm source?... This is under water, and clearly i don't see either the eiffel tower or big ben or the statue of liberty, so this isn't europe and america sir
I dove there! The tectonic plates in Iceland!
Pervert...
How deep is it? I fkin hate depths
Reminds me of Mad God's Long Way Down
That's very cool
Nah man that's just two underwater rocks
Very cool picture!
How?
It’s strange to think that they think they are “touching NA and EU at the same time” in their mind. In reality, they are just standing between and touching rocks. It is a very cool picture nonetheless
if you push them will it cause an earthquake ?
I know if he moves up +down back and forth as fast as he can it’s more than likely a manquake🫡
I immediately thought about this walls crushing this dude.
How's that possible ?
No chance I’m ever going there
I realize that is technically correct as he is touching the tectonic plates for each continent but it still seems like a wildly optimistic interpretation of "continent"
Faultline?
this would scare the fuck outta me, idk how people can do this
127 hours 2
yes but what if they start moving closer?
This is in Iceland
Imagine being just a cm too short to touch both sides
Someone photo shop a goblin lurking in the shadows and reupload it
Isn't this where the Megalodon has its secret lair?v
I want to do this so bad…
Silfra!!!!!
r/damnthatsinteresting
Awesome pic!!!
r/sweatypalms for the abyss down below!
Hmmm
Nuh uh he's touching some rocks in ocean
Well yes but actually no.
I really am not sure but i think someone once told me it was fake and is just a random cliff but that could just be my memory fucking up or something
Wow!!!id love to do that.
Now kith
I call bullshit on this because North America and Europe are thousands of miles apart....not even remotely close to be able to do this. Nice try though.
They're too far apart to do that now. What a great time and place for that photo.
Imagine having to cut your arm off underwater
