Wonderful show. The band was brilliant

Wow, former President James Taylor!

Yeah, a couple people have said the same about not knowing it was happening. I don’t remember how I found out, might have been through Wellington Venues emails or something.

I saw a teeny tiny poster on Cuba St and I stopped dead and bought tickets on the spot. I would've been gutted if I missed him, I never thought I would have the chance, especially without travelling!

oefox

Likewise, would have totally gone to it, but I just don't go actively looking for what's on so guess it's my fault :(

ThatlldoNZ

I found out Steve Gadd was there halfway through the set when a friend who was there messaged me. So would've gone if I'd known that!

He’s fantastic. I feel really fortunate that this is the second time I’ve seen him in a band. First was a few years back with Steely Dan in Auckland.

black_messiahh

Holy shit I’ve been listening to a lot of Steely Dan’s Aja album(their best) and to learn that was him there was awesome

I said to a friend - the one night I go out and it hoses down. He was fabulous though. In fact the whole band were. He’s definitely in his (grand)dad era with those jokes. From reading the Auckland review it seems those are his standard lines. He genuinely seemed to be happy to be here though, and given his issues earlier in life it was lovely to see him like that. What a back catalogue too. Great to hear more than just the greatest hits.

Advanced_Bunch8514

Did he play millworker? I adore that song. God I wished I had attended this.

PipEmmieHarvey

Not Millworker, but plenty of others. Such a back catalogue I guess he can't play everything! Brilliant show

I took my mum to see him in Auckland the night before. I grew up listening to Sweet Baby James because that was Mum’s favourite album by him. It was good to repay her in a way and take her to see him for what is most likely his last tour. And he sounded SO GOOD. Very gracious to all his bandmates. Funny. Charming. Lively too for a 76 year old man. Jumping around and rocking out. Steamroller and Copperline went hard. He’s still got it.
