In my 32 years of life, I’ve never once had a mosquito bite on my face and I’m pretty outdoorsy… not to call you out, your comment just made me think it was a little interesting…
I've gotten them on my forehead and cheeks before, but they tend not to itch for as long as ones on my arms and legs. Maybe better blood supply to clear out the offending antigens.
But that histamine release from mast cells is caused by exposure to something foreign most of the time, at least with insect bites/envenomations.
I guess there could be fewer mast cells in the face though, so less histamine to be released than if you got bitten in an area with a higher density of mast cells.
He may have been subconsciously moving his hand. The mosquito will stop feeding, fly around for a second and then land in a similar position to where it originally was and start feeding again.
Yeah once I had my foot hanging out and this mosquito bit it so hard it gave me an allergic reaction and my entire foot swelled up like a sausage and the itch was unbearable. Never knew it could get that bad
It cpuld be bedbugs, but it could very well be mosquitoes too. If op just sleeps covered and had only their left hand out that would result in this, I have had this happen so many times
Mosquitoes tend to bite around the same spot, at least I am very sure I've heard that several times. Something about the pheromones or whatever that they inject into you, it attracts other mosquitoes to the same spot. Kinda like if u get stung by a bee, wasp etc, other wasps are more likely to target you too.
Bedbugs will bite the bare skin that’s in contact with the mattress. We had some once. Hubs was bitten on the backs of his arms (back sleeper) and I was bitten on the back of my hand ( I sleep on my side w my hand tucked under my pillow). Took us a couple of years to discover how they hitchhiked into our house. The infestation was remediated quickly but I still get skeeved out when I see an apple seed.
Maybe don’t set fire to yourself but you can heat up a spoon with boiling water or steam and press it against the bite.
Let it cool down so it won’t actually burn you. But it needs to be hot. It kills the itch.
I’ve had really bad reactions to bites ever since chemo and that and using an antihistamine type of bite cream is what works for me.
That many bites could cause a reaction. Only need to worry if it starts tracking. Red line going up your arm from the bite or bites. Then you need to see a doctor because you need antibiotics. But still it’s not a panic situation. Just go get the tablets and you will be fine.
Drink lots of water. Sorry about the bites
It's only a hand, not their whole body. Should live.
Quick reminder: Death by self-immolation usually occurs due to smoke inhalation and the subject chokes to death, not by the flames' damage to your body.
Joke about this but i actually burned an mosquito bite (well, still not sure maybe it was a racoon size mosquito), itched so bad, nothing helped, i burned it with a powerful gas lighter. The itch was gone ! But boy did it hurt afterwards
Yeah, I used to work at a hotel doing bed bug apologies and have seen hundreds of examples of bites on people. Hands and torso were the most common in ALL examples.
Similar thing happened to me about a month ago. Left foot was hanging out of my covers just above my ankle. Seven bites spread across two small spots on the top of my foot, and side of my ankle. Just moved to a new area, and the mosquitos here are no joke. Still have small dark circular scars from all of them. Hope yours arent too bad!
I was sleeping in the same bed ive slept in for 4 years. I have a cat that is strictly indoor, and ive lived where i am for 6 months. Mosquitos in the new area are HUGE, and different types of mosquitos can cause different reactions in different people. The bites were welted for a couple hours, Itched like hell for a couple days.
Like i said, was about a month ago and have had no bites since. I typically sleep with one foot out when its warm, and its usually that foot. Makes sense if its the only part of the body that was exposed, no?
Edit : Thanks everyone for the messages, I cannot answer everyone but I got your concerns it might be bed bugs. I was only sleeping there once and I'll be extra careful 🙂
And I killed a lot of mosquitoes the morning after and the bites were only on the side facing up.
I'll be careful anyway, thanks !! 🦟
You can usually find evidence of bedbugs. They don’t go away on their own so, as much as I feel your instinct to avoid, it may be better to check for them. They’re awful.
Bedbugs are usually a string of bites or a cluster.
This looks more like fleas or mosquitos.
We know it wasn't horseflies because OP didn't mention waking up screaming.
I remember my days spent in West Siberia in summer, and the day we went to forrest. Literally nothing helped from mosquitos, no kind of protection. They bite the places you think there is no blood. You get used to the bites, 50 bites a day is no problem, you don't even count bites, just don't scratch it
Brother. That’s bed bug bites. Luckily, you’re allergic to them. Otherwise you’d be unaware. My lady was thinking she was getting bit by something on our grass or eczema. That was for almost a month until we found a harborage. Check by your bed. Pillows, curtains. Small crevices in your Matress.
I really hope I’m wrong. We had to tear the whole house apart and steam everything.
Rookie numbers. That is probably the lowest for me during monsoon season. One night i left the window open cause it was too hot and in the morning i killed 78 mosquitoes chilling in my room. (Yes i counted it as i sprayed down the bastards) Thankfully i applied Odomos(A mosquito repellent cream for skin) so i did not suffer any bites.
Small black "tiger" mosquitos they hide till night, and can bite many times they tend to hurt more but go away quickly. I sweep the ceiling edges with a broom.
The three bites along your pointer finger are what concerns me. That's usually a bed bug pattern. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please check your mattress. It can get out of control quick.
Holding your phone in your left hand in the dark?
They’ll be attracted to not only you sweet sweat, co2, and yummy blood, but the light would’ve been like “HEY! THERES YUMMY SWEAT CO2 AND BLOOD OVER HERE! STEP RIGHT UP!”
Likely mosquito bites and not bed bugs.
Mosquito bites on my hand look the same. Everywhere else, they are 50 times as big and leave scars for the next few years...
The body is weird.
Those are bed bugs! Don’t go home, burn your luggage and clothes that you took with you, strip before entering your property and burn those clothes too. Go straight to your shower and scrub with the harshest soap you can find and they pray that you didn’t bring any of them into your home.
Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide. We exhale carbon dioxide.
While half asleep OP had a mosquito, attracted to his breath, fly into his face... after wafting didn't work, he put his hand over his face and the mosquito fed on his hand.
we’re twins. i have a million and one mosquito bites because it’s the rainy season now and they’re coming out in droves. sucks even more because i’m the only one being bitten, not my wife, even though we sleep in the same bed.
Mosquitoes take blood, but they leave other fluids behind as well. One of these is a compound that attracts other mosquitoes to that localized spot, or even right back into the same bite location.. I had a coworker that was always complaining about supposed spider bites that were clearly clustered mozzie bites. We don’t have any dinner-plate sized arachnids in the Pacific Northwest, something I often tried to remind him was a good thing…
I stayed at a hotel and I thought I got bit by mosquitoes. It was bed bugs :/
My thoughts too. If they’re so localised I’d suspect bed bugs. Mosquitoes can fly anywhere, but bedbugs seem to target a cluster
It's not so easy. Had a foot covered with mosquitoes bites just because it was out of the sheets 🤷
Exactly what I was thinking, OP’s hand was hanging out of the covers. Been there
And the rest of him wasn't? His other hand, his neck, his face?
Some of us are weird. I sleep best when my right foot is out of the sheets. And sadly, that's the one that gets mosquito bites. Not my neck or face
It's actually histamine produced by our own body that makes it swell and itch.
But that histamine release from mast cells is caused by exposure to something foreign most of the time, at least with insect bites/envenomations. I guess there could be fewer mast cells in the face though, so less histamine to be released than if you got bitten in an area with a higher density of mast cells.
I have two mosquito bites on my face right now.
I think the face is sensitive enough we swat them away before they bite.
He may have been subconsciously moving his hand. The mosquito will stop feeding, fly around for a second and then land in a similar position to where it originally was and start feeding again.
My bites were along the back of my left arm and a few bites on my right forearm. Took two days of "mosquito" bites before I checked the mattress.
Had a clear line of bites on 1 arm when I get bedbugs yeah. Never harm to check the mattress and slats but OP was bothered by mosquitoes all night
Yeah once I had my foot hanging out and this mosquito bit it so hard it gave me an allergic reaction and my entire foot swelled up like a sausage and the itch was unbearable. Never knew it could get that bad
Yep, they target what’s exposed.
It cpuld be bedbugs, but it could very well be mosquitoes too. If op just sleeps covered and had only their left hand out that would result in this, I have had this happen so many times
Why travel to the other end of the buffet when you don’t have to
Mosquitoes tend to bite around the same spot, at least I am very sure I've heard that several times. Something about the pheromones or whatever that they inject into you, it attracts other mosquitoes to the same spot. Kinda like if u get stung by a bee, wasp etc, other wasps are more likely to target you too.
Mosquitoes don't bite. They drill a hole and splurge that nasty alien looking thing through your skin in search for a blood vain.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I hope it is not ! I killed around 10 mosquitoes when waking up so I really hope it is the reason 🫤
Can also be an allergic reaction. If I get bit once by a mosquito, I will have hives quite quickly.
Yeah I never knew mosquito bites could give allergic reaction until happened to me, was not a pleasant time
One mosquito missed out.
I did discover bite n°10 on my wrist. They did not miss hahaha.
Those don't look anything like bedbug bites.
they look exactly like the bedbug bites i just had
Normally bedbug bites are in a line. A line of small red dots. The larger the dot, the longer the bedbug sucked.
Here's to hoping! 🙏🏽
I'm so hesitant of bed bugs my brain just had to reassure myself that bed bugs can't be transmitted via Reddit.
But whaddabout their eggs???!!!
because you look like a snack
Smooooth
one time a mosquito must’ve gotten into my dress after spending all day outside and i had 9 mosquito bites only on my right boob 🙃
that sounds like hell omg 😦
[удалено]
Will try it later, thanks !
God speed
I have to be that guy. It’s one word godspeed
You should've been the guy that utilizes colons. Anyway, you don't know, maybe they were trying to encourage OP to go ridiculously fast.
Hyper, Plaid, God

if they survive ☠
It's only a hand, not their whole body. Should live. Quick reminder: Death by self-immolation usually occurs due to smoke inhalation and the subject chokes to death, not by the flames' damage to your body.
If I could burn in minutes I could cook a steak in seconds.
Do Jazz hands for dramatic effect
![gif](giphy|vg4byPbozeuv6) *dramatic effect*
Been 5 hours. Are the flames off?
Calm down satan
If you do it well it’ll also relieve you of bites for the rest of your life.
Mf it worked
Instructions unclear, my house is burnt to ground.
Calamine lotion is a god send for bug bites
Joke about this but i actually burned an mosquito bite (well, still not sure maybe it was a racoon size mosquito), itched so bad, nothing helped, i burned it with a powerful gas lighter. The itch was gone ! But boy did it hurt afterwards
Those absolutely look like bedbug bites…
Yep. How localized they are suggests bedbugs, unless he slept with the window open and only his hand outside the blankets.
Yeah, I used to work at a hotel doing bed bug apologies and have seen hundreds of examples of bites on people. Hands and torso were the most common in ALL examples.
Fuck me, thought I’m having an allergy or something, time to move out to another apartment :/
You'll just start a new infestation if you don't plan for it.
If you move be sure to google how to sanitize and get rid of them or you’ll just take them with you
As a veteran of the entomology subs, we don’t ID bites from images. You simply can’t do it with enough confidence. You always find the bug.
Omg everyone calm down. We live in a very mosquito ridden climate and if a couple get inside the bedroom, it absolutely looks like this sometimes.
Totally - every summer my hands get eaten by mosquitoes. Look just like this.
Why? My mosquito bites always get extremely red and inflamed no matter what.
Similar thing happened to me about a month ago. Left foot was hanging out of my covers just above my ankle. Seven bites spread across two small spots on the top of my foot, and side of my ankle. Yeah the scars on my foot from this mosquito bite are still there tho it's been 6 years
"Fuck your left hand " -mosquito probably
Edit : Thanks everyone for the messages, I cannot answer everyone but I got your concerns it might be bed bugs. You have a nice hand.

But why male models?
Fun fact: Ben Stiller forgot his next line during that scene so he repeated his first line and thus we got the comedy spectacle that we see today. 😂🙏
Well thanks 🙂
You found your mosquito. Get her!
![gif](giphy|2bUpP71bbVnZ3x7lgQ|downsized)
I second this opinion
my first thought lol
Sorry, that’s sounds atrocious. A tip if you don’t know: a hair dryer will work wonders for the itching.
Did not know, thanks will try !
Don't try it until you've already ruled out pouring gasoline on them and setting them on fire. (Works for itchy hands *and biting bugs!*)
Everyone knows mosquitos hate lefties.
It’s gods punishment. You know why you were smitten. Yea verily, he who casteth his seed on Kleenex shall be smitten, bitten and stricken
Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great.
Looks more like bedbugs.
Well you are scaring me a bit haha. But I heard mosquitoes all night so I prefer to believe this.
You can usually find evidence of bedbugs. They don’t go away on their own so, as much as I feel your instinct to avoid, it may be better to check for them. They’re awful.
Sometimes midges get into my house and the bites are like this. They pick a knee or something to focus their wrath upon.
These belong in hell.
Bedbugs are usually a string of bites or a cluster. This looks more like fleas or mosquitos. We know it wasn't horseflies because OP didn't mention waking up screaming.
That doesn’t look anything like bed bug bites lol
Nine times....that's right...nine times.................GRACE !!!!
I feel they're radioactive You'll soo be Mosquito-Man
Yessss I'll be able to fly !!
You'll grow wings, but you'll be too heavy to actually fly. You'll also grow mosquito mouth parts. Yay!
I remember my days spent in West Siberia in summer, and the day we went to forrest. Literally nothing helped from mosquitos, no kind of protection. They bite the places you think there is no blood. You get used to the bites, 50 bites a day is no problem, you don't even count bites, just don't scratch it
Haaa this seems horrible. Thanks for the advice I try not to scratch it :)
Obviously, the toileting hand.
Obviously but I washed it :(
Are you sure they are not spider bites?
![gif](giphy|T2vDaYr8yRhrpFe6WE)

Got some bad news for you, buddy...
That’s bedbugs, probably.
I don't want to alarm you, but check your bedframe for bedbugs.
Lucky you ! For me it's cause a friend left a door open. When I visited Cambodia it was worse but it was on the entire body.
Small black "tiger" mosquitos they hide till night, and can bite many times they tend to hurt more but go away quickly. I sweep the ceiling edges with a broom.
Stay of the phone after you turn of the light.
Can I interest you in becoming a hand model?
Are you sure this is from mosquitos?
It probably just wanted to do hand stuff ✋🏻🦟
Just picturing like a family of nine mosquitoes drinking your blood like they are at Olive Garden.
Shiiiiiiiiit I had 44 yes I counted them on my legs and back in 1 1/2 days 🤦🏽♂️granted I was in another country but still 🤷🏽♂️
The three bites along your pointer finger are what concerns me. That's usually a bed bug pattern. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please check your mattress. It can get out of control quick.
Is that the hand you last used to wipe with?
Same 🦟 but probably you moved your 🖐️.
Well maybe that's the reason...
Living in South Asia has you used to these but grateful when you move out and it’s no longer a concern
Tea tree oil
Wow it really does SUCK
The worst is when they bite your feet.
Spiders?
I hope you're not a lefty.
Put Windex on it
Likely mosquito bites and not bed bugs. Mosquito bites on my hand look the same. Everywhere else, they are 50 times as big and leave scars for the next few years... The body is weird.
I once had 67 mosquito bites just on my legs. I fucking lost it on that holiday. Day 3 i bought 1 of those nets covering your entire bed.
Be happy it wasn’t your face that was sticking out from under the blanket…
I got bit several times on both my feet before... nowhere else, just my feet
One time had over 17 at once
They look like mosquito bites to me.
I couldn't imagine going to bed without wearing my sleeping gloves 😞
Mosquitoes ***love*** my ankles. They may bite elsewhere, but they voraciously attack my ankles.
Did you spray bug spray on yourself using your left hand?
Strange how they went after your joints. Hmmmmm Hmmmmm Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Are these really mosquito bites?
I was in rv not to long ago only my face got bit like 10 times because we left a window open
Time to burn your house down my friend
If the top of the hand was in contact with the mattress it could be bed bugs. Otherwise it’s probably mosquitoes.
Get the bug bite thing!
Damn I might have to try your blood if it’s that good
You might want to lift up your mattress and check for some unwelcome visitors…
The monsters get you if you are not completely covered. But you also risk Ju’on getting you.
Where was the right hand?
Reject sheet. Embrace glove.
Is your blood 0 type? My bf is 0 type and he gets bitten always, sparing me in the process, mosquitoes seem to love 0 types over all other ones
Those really seem like bedbug bites to me :( I hope not for your sake!!
I’m thinking that is bed bugs, not mosquitoes.
Bed bugs.....
They may be attracted to your hand lotion…..
They had a craving that only hands could satisfy
When your hand rolls off the bed, and falls into Africa
Happens. Get a mosquito catcher for your nightlight. It’s awesome
50 hand
This happened to me once and god that hurt. Luckily I was able to go to the drug store and get some hydrocortisone which helped tons!
Those are bed bugs! Don’t go home, burn your luggage and clothes that you took with you, strip before entering your property and burn those clothes too. Go straight to your shower and scrub with the harshest soap you can find and they pray that you didn’t bring any of them into your home.
Even if I killed like 10 mosquitoes in the morning? And I heard them in my ears ?
Look at all those delicious hand veins
Yeah, bites on the hands and feet are more fitting for bed bugs.
They attacked The Left Handed Stranger
Yea those are either flea or bed bugs 😬
At least they didn't bite your nails
Probably bed bugs sorry to say
thanks for the white circles , i didn’t see the bites at all
well, they had nothing left to lose
If it’s just your hands and the hurt a bit more that you expect….. prolly bed bugs
This is bed bugs
I got bit four times literally on my neck/jugular area. It looked like an enormous cyst and was itchy as heck. The skeeters love me
You also have bent pinky!
Check... For... Bed bugs!
*Yeah, fuck this guy’s left hand in particular*
Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide. We exhale carbon dioxide. While half asleep OP had a mosquito, attracted to his breath, fly into his face... after wafting didn't work, he put his hand over his face and the mosquito fed on his hand.
Time for the hot spoon trick 🥄
Your poor hands
we’re twins. i have a million and one mosquito bites because it’s the rainy season now and they’re coming out in droves. sucks even more because i’m the only one being bitten, not my wife, even though we sleep in the same bed.
Sweet hand, bro
You got bed bugs mate
He gave you herpes! Edit: she. Male mosquitos don't bite. Too early.
I count 10 hehe
