Haha! It gave me a reason to upgrade to a new entryway for sure - biggest issue I'm having is finding someone who can quote me just the glass replacement because my lawn guy is going to pay for the damage, but it's not fair to ask him to pay for a $2k+ entryway swap out, just what the glass would have cost.

_n3ll_

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don't think you should accept his offer to pay for the damage. Depending on the area he was working on I'm not sure there's much he could have done to prevent the accident. Like if he was being careless or using the wrong tool for the job in order to save time I'd take it, but if its just a freak accident I'd let it slide. Depending on what his hourly is it could be half a days work for something that could/would happen to anyone. That said, if you do think he should pay in this case just take a photo and go to a few window places for estimates. You might even be able to find some online that'll give you quotes if you send them photos

KittenVicious

He's INSISTING on paying for it and refused to take money for today's work. He said it was his fault for trying to weed eat towards the glass instead of away with his body in between like he would have done if I'd had a glass storm door. I think paying him 25% more than his rate (because I thought he was under charging for his services) has a lot to do with him being so insistent.

angry_glue

That’s a good dude. I’ve been landscaping for 18 years and in that time I’ve shattered three windows it’s going to happen eventually.

_n3ll_

Oh, then that's totally fair. Sounds like you're both good folks and I love to see that!

JosiesYardCart

Doh

GiraffeChaser

Just installed a new door and the windows came with it. $5600 door at lowes. Now that it’s installed I don’t think I could take it apart and just replace a sidelight.

Onebandlol

Is it chunked? I always thought it was chucked, but people always seem to write chunk.

Onebandlol

Ok gotcha, so either way is correct, depending on where you live. At least I’d say so.

FlyinHighFL420

No! It’s Captain Chunk!

MickeySwank

I swear this is a Texas thing. I’ve only ever heard people from Texas say “chunk” instead of “chuck”, but it’s been multiple different Texans at different times.

My lawn guy broke my glass door on the front of the house. They claimed it wasn't them/could have been anyone. That's when I bought a Ring camera.

Fearonika

Homeowner's insurance?

TheCircleOf04

This reminds me of Final Destination 4

themeatstaco

Step one remove security camera, step two infiltrate facility… dude it’s a heist.

masapod2892

a local window manufacture or installer might be able to give you leads on a glass cutter and installer.

UraniumRocker

My dad did this once when he was mowing the lawn. I was inside with my back towards the window, and it scared the fuck out of me.

Van_Goghs_Woes

Is your lawn guy Stan Lee?

MickeySwank

Are you from Texas?

Got it, I have only ever heard people from Texas say “chunk” instead of “chuck” Interesting to know there are other southern parts that do, I thought it was just a Texas thing. I live in the south and no one says it here, but it wouldn’t be considered the “deep south”

CozyBoyD4L

This looks like Middletons Green Acres, I think I used to do the house across the street too lol.
