1031Cat

When you've gotten to the point you know what the first post will be in a comment section, it really shows just how useless social media truly is.

Sevro706

Yeah... So useless... That we aren't connected in any way possible.. Without social media... You would not have gotten to that point. Never blamed a tool... Only it's user.

azallday

lmfao

SmallBerry3431

This joke is immensely hilarious still

Bathroom_Crier22

This was my first thought, too!

Right-Sky-4005

I can hear this 😂

theozman69

Post a picture of your shin

y4j1981

This is a repost. Op just used the picture for the karma

drhizouse

Why do people farm for karma? What does it get them?

y4j1981

In life, nothing. But makes them feel important on reddit.

alienblue89

This is no longer true. As of a few months ago, reddit started the absolutely bone-headed “Contributor Monetization Program”. Now you can actually get paid real money for high karma posts on high karma accounts. All of which means that reddit has now literally and officially *financially incentivized* repost bots.

A-kil

Wow, that really sucks what a weird choice by reddit

Ace-Redditor

Nah, I don’t think it’s that weird. If it’s a bad choice, then it’s Reddit’s kind of choice. They love ruining the app/site for us

putin-delenda-est

Luckily this site just keeps getting better and better it has not been on a downhill trajectory since ~2015

Semi_John

Huh. That explains a lot of what I've been seeing lately...

meep_meep_mope

High karma accounts do better with posts and can be used for advertising.

cyproyt

Could be a bot that needs some amount of karma to post on certain subreddits? Maybe not this person tho since they already have 100k+

DiarrheaForDays

Sell the accounts. Go to any nsfw sub and you’ll see accounts for onlyfans girls. I’m assuming these girls go through an agency or just hire guys directly to manage their accounts, and their names are always generic Reddit handles that are 2 or 3 years old but have only been posting for a few weeks.

Tannerite3

Twitter has a ton of "reply guys" who post really basic talking points in response to political figures and get paid a ton of money to share propaganda. There's one called "Detroit Dad" or "Boston Father" idk what northern US city it is, but he's got a massive following. Trump's tweets were filled with accounts like that in his replies. It makes sense that political parties and companies would do the same on Reddit. Get a bunch of karma and have your posts be more likely to get a lot of attention.

No-Respect5903

I hope OP really does smack their shin

TurdMcDirk

They can’t because it didn’t happen.

choochoopants

https://preview.redd.it/yeffcmbn7q0d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e969152392d3751c3a41ca958038cbdcd2a355ba

Shrader74

I call those "The shin fuckerupper 6000". Literally, every time I see one, I think of how bad that would hurt.

TheLostEmi

I used to work at a gas station, I learned the hard way to watch out for these fuckers. I was coming back around from the driver's side window to fill up this guy's truck (Oregon btw) when while mid step my shin went straight into the side of the trailer hitch. I had a pretty good pace going on too, so of course this is when I hit it. I instantly felt a shock go up my, up my torso, and into my sinuses for some reason. After I hit the hitch I had to sit down for like 5 minutes.

Prestigious_Cow6949

It's all fun and games until you are watching out for the shin fuckerupper and take a face full of the un-flagged face fuckerupper sticking 2 feet out from the truck bed.

PipsqueakPilot

I once almost got caught on someone's bass lure that was hanging off a fishing pole sticking out of their bed- right at face level.

Bald-Elephant

The explaining of the pain up makes me feel not so alone, I wonder if anyone has an explanation for this phenomenon. Apparently google says it’s a result of the body’s nerves transmitting the impact sensation?

CalaveraFeliz

Some nerves are extremely long and can run all the way up to the brain, with the optic chiasm as nexus. A simple demonstration can be made on any subject: just pull one ass hair and they'll cry.

JackpotJosh7

Going to Oregon and having someone put your gas in for you feels so insane

Mean_Performance_588

Don’t you know people in Oregon aren’t responsible enough to pump gas unless they are trained? 😆

GhostOfAscalon

It's legal in Oregon now. Only illegal in New Jersey.

perpetualmotionmachi

Looking at this one, I'm wondering how someone with a wheelchair gets by without having to push themselves through a bush.

FanFictheKid

Just carry the chair around it? /s

Dumb-as-i-look

They won’t. People in wheelchairs are notoriously lazy. Sitting around all day

Brack_vs_Godzilla

I did the same damn thing in January in a shopping center parking lot. It was dark out and I parked my car, walked around the truck next to me and WHAM!, right in the shin. It broke the skin and my shin swelled up like half of a tennis ball. I’m sure that people 20 rows away heard me yell “FUCK!”.

TyRoSwoe

Somehow every time I run into one of those I seem to accidentally dent the tailgate.

dmacd71

That's incredible because I somehow seem to have that same issue.

Uvbeensarged

I liberate the hitch before I run into it if they decide to park like that

LightlySaltedPeanuts

Liberate it right into that bush

Food-NetworkOfficial

That’s…a good idea

nameless_fucktoy

Liberate it through the back window.

BigEdPVDFLA

^ this is the only proper answer

foxdye22

It’s somehow worse than you imagine.

Beat_the_Deadites

Kinda makes you wonder why our shins are so sensitive... same with the malleoli (sticking-out ankle bones). From an evolutionary standpoint, it doesn't make sense to completely incapacitate us and drop us to the ground, closer to a predator's jaws, if you get a bump on the leg. From a creationist standpoint, we've already got hypersensitive balls if God just wants to laugh at us getting hurt. Why the shin nerves, God?

PizzaHockeyGolf

I do it at work like once a month. It doesn’t feel good.

Viva_La_Reddit

Yup, my job has a vendetta for my shins aswell, I just had a wooden pallet fall from about 3 feet straight to my shin last Tuesday, 10/10 would recommend.

HelloAttila

Think that hurts… ohhh bike racks hurt like hell too…

ControlSalty8100

I had a friend in Boy Scouts who almost shattered his shin on one of those things at night. We were playing manhunt and he didn't see the hitch, and that was a GG for him.

Kingboofpack

No you didn’t, because this is a repost!

w0rstn4m33v3r

Well, when people don’t look where they’re walking they’ll hit their shin twice /s

JabaThePegasus

I’ve done this before, except on my knee. And multiple times. Ouch.

phdoflynn

Life as a dwarf is rough...

TheRealPetross

i hit my forehead on those

SuculantWarrior

Life as a paraplegic on a skateboard is rough...

midas282000

Dude, this picture was posted months ago. Karma farming at its best.

Chumbief

Honestly though, how do you not see that coming?

BuddyAloysius

This picture is at least 3 years old...

Another_Name1

Yeah I was gonna say. I'm pretty sure I've seen this picture for at least a few years posted on reddit multiple times. Also OP hasn't made a comment in a month. Just another bot

an0nym0ose

Looks like a stolen account, too. rip

acheloisa

I once did it several times in the same parking lot, but it was after I got my eyes dilated so I couldnt see shit lol

QuickBic_

At least you weren’t pushing a stroller

KellenFrost

I put $20 on this chuck being on his phone and walked into a truck. He should sue

slasherman

For Chucks sake.

monty228

Oh thank Chuck.

Heytherhitherehother

I'd take the bet just because this is most likely fake. He wasn't on the phone, just saw a tow hitch and wanted to take a picture.

Puzzleheaded_Sir1273

Probably snapped this pic before it happened and started posting “look at how this assho” before having to change the title

RegnarukDeez

Damn Chucks man.

Mr_Man_Fred

im more of a schmuck myself

unsupported

I swear, those bushes just jump right out at ya!

Joe_Jeep

There's literally regulations on tripping hazards because, as a species, we're not always going to notice things at that level. So very easily. Plus if you're not actively towing you should take these off anyway so they don't rust in.

jetsetninjacat

I just don't get why people don't put the ball mount away. When I had a truck mine would stick out like this. I kept it in the cab under the back seat and had a cover I put in its place to keep critters out of my hitch. It wasn't hard to put it back on when needed.

Risk_Runner

Regardless why is the dude parked so far back? I can’t see the front so it might be a comically large truck but it really couldn’t hurt to pull forward 20 cm

Present_Mastodon_503

It's actually illegal in my state to have those on a vehicle when not using them for towing. Doesn't stop many people but I've seen some people get tickets or pulled over.

zurgonvrits

good luck getting a cop to enforce it or the driver to give a fuck

Warfrogger

Had it happen once. Like OP I wasn't paying attention and tripped over a hitch. By coincidence a bicycle cop was riding up behind me, stopped to check on me then wrote up a ticket as the driver came out of the gas station.

jokeswagon

Good luck getting cops to enforce almost any driving law in MT. It’s the wild fucking west here.

terrymr

I don’t think it is. But obstructing the sidewalk is a violation.

Ambitious_Promise_29

What state? As far as I am aware, it is not illegal in any US state.

Brokkenpiloot

how does that work? mine is not quite removable. i think in europe about half of the cars have non removable ones... this would not catch me off guard, id expect it.

HoldCommercial159

I did this running full speed in between parked cars. Worst pain I've ever felt. My shin was slightly impaled, and I had to pull my leg off while screaming. 16 staples later! Ow.

Obvious_Mode_5382

I nearly broke a leg on one of these while on rollerblades.. luckily it was just a bone bruise

RegnarukDeez

Try not to do that.

RedditorsAreDross

Don’t worry, it didn’t actually happen.

pullmydong

Redneck landmine!

CityCutThat

I’d hate to be a wheelchair user trying to get past that.

fishinglife777

A big part of why my disabled loved one who uses a wheelchair cannot use sidewalks. Fuck these people.

SmellySweatsocks

Looks like the same photo used in this other post. That post talked about how far it was over the walkway.

monet108

did you not see the bright red truck?

EnergyTakerLad

I worked at uhaul for a bit. My shins will never be the same..

some_g00d_cheese

Stop staring down at your phone when walking

blender311

I do this on my own hitch. It’s always my fault for not looking

The_Undermind

I've been considering just taking out that pin and tossing the damn thing in a bush somewhere when I see similar situations

Practical-Actuary394

I would have done exactly this. It probably would be days before he noticed it was missing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

towhead

Years ago I'd do this and place it in the back of the bed of their truck. I figure it slides around the back and they have to stop to secure it. After the third time the owner probably figured eventually it was going to get taken and learned their lesson. If you leave them in, don't back up against a sidewalk.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mmnuc3

He never uses it. Wouldn't notice for a LONG time.

bonnieandclyde1324

It’s funny that people only complain about the truck, the Chrysler is over the curb almost as far.

Br0k3n-T0y

in all fairness, a BIG RED truck should catch your eye and the black tailgate contrasting against a very light ground surfac oh look a squirr-ggarrrghhhh

gshetley93

How did you not see it?

HolyRaptorSphere

So you didn't pay attention to where you were walking? Yeah, that does suck to be you.

Christplosion

No you didn't I saw this pic posted months ago

Basic-Type7994

Get off your phone jackass

tophergracesdad

Should probably watch where you’re walking then lol

FromThePort1990

I don't understand anyone who bangs their shin and rushes to post about it on Reddit. How little life do you have?

thankyoumrdawson

https://preview.redd.it/2ki28q2qqs0d1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21e85ab5f00e69401304ddf9de15702eb98d7750

Sk8ter713

Watch we're your going, lesson learned I hope...

Thirsty_Comment88

Doesn't look like it has a lock. Help a handicapped person out and throw that hitch in the bushes so a wheelchair can fit by.

Maleficent-Comfort14

After banging into my own hitch a few dozen times, I made the choice to just take the damn thing out when I’m not using it.

grilledcheese_man

![gif](giphy|KQN1W3XYdkeUvMD3f1)

Literally-A-NWS

That’s an ADA violation! I love educating people with trucks about this, because most of them actually listen to it and it saves my knees and my puppy’s dome. My favorite part? *Instant tow*.

jimbojonesFA

but def dont go to the ADAA, they firmly believe that if you can dodge a hitch u can dodge a ball, so they wont help u.

elammcknight

Sorry to all those who “back in” but those that do it onto a walking space have something wrong with them.

Ih8TB12

I was at a corporate training center that had a bunch of different small buildings - people we constantly walking to different areas. It was in Texas so 70% of the people drove trucks and most of them backed in. I asked a big boss if they all hated each other because they park like jackasses and no one can use the side walk with all the hitches hanging over into the walkway. When we went out to lunch - the trucks were either parked straight in or had hitches removed and zero bumpers encroaching onto the side walk. They all got “spoken to” and were not happy about it. Oh well

Reach-for-the-sky_15

There should be a law against this. It's blocking half the sidewalk. What if there was someone in a wheelchair who couldn’t fit through?

72SplitBumper

Move to Illinois it is illegal there to leave a hitch on your truck if it extends out 4” from the bumper

Ambitious_Promise_29

Wrong. No such law exists.

BagOnuts

>Move to Illinois lol no thanks.

Huntsnfights

It’s soo much easier to back in, than back out with a truck. But it’s also their responsibility to not block sidewalks and whatnot

Reach-for-the-sky_15

I understand it being easier to back into a parking spot, I do it too. But they should take out the tow hook and put it inside the truck if it's blocking the sidewalk like this.

tytbalt

Pretty sure in a lot of places it is illegal to block the sidewalk.

NASTYH0USEWIFE

Someone used to do this every day at my apartment complex so I started accidentally dragging metal objects across the tailgate until they figured out pedestrians exist.

FiggNGoose

Maybe pay attention more.

Caterinboy91

Never hit my shin on someone else’s hitch…. Just my own 🥺

AnonymousCruelty

I watch where I'm walking. This would never happen to me. Are you blind? What's your excuse?

Kick_in_the_Yarbles

It's just a bush, you'll be fine.

RockMan_1973

Ouch!

Ok_Advisor_9873

I hate those things- always catching in when I least expect it!

Joeva8me

Like three cars with fenders that far over and you get pissed at the truck. Just keep nose out of phone while walking.

JerrodAlmaguer

![gif](giphy|LpkBAUDg53FI8xLmg1|downsized)

No_Entertainer9101

Oh man can I relate. I did it on both shins back to back within a few minutes of each other.

prickwhowaspromised

My brother and I were in a grocery store parking lot, music on, and a guy in front of us hit his shin on a hitch so hard we heard the thump in the car. I still think about that man and the face he made to this day, 7 years later.

generally_a_dick

Pull it off and toss it through the front windshield

WasteChard3488

Doctors recommend not doing that

dustytrek

Whammo!

roarjah

I’ve did it a half a dozen times and finally learned. Haven’t hit on in yrs

Crossboye12

My wife says "Watch out for that trailer hitch!"

Friedkun4eva

Are you blind?

iamnotexactlywhite

are you blind, in a wheelchair or just an idiot?

AZ991234

You blind?

dumbernuts

Are you blind ?

DullApplication3275

You were texting huh?

AustinNotTexasDotCom

I draw penises on cars that park like this at my apartment 😈

Marokiii

its most likely not locked into the receiver, just unhook it and toss it in the garbage.

OttawaBunnyGuy

I grew up in a family with a rural car dealership. I banged my shins a thousand times in those. 20 years later, if one like this caught me in the wild, I just might set it on fire!

cragglerock93

About all the people saying look where you're going - I bet they would be the very first to trip or slip on something in a public place and resort to suing.

klaxz1

I’ve seen someone get a tire valve stem snipped off because of this behavior.

orphicsolipsism

… which was a shame, because I had my keys out and dragged them all across the back of the truck as I tripped. Repeatedly.

Superbad1990

That’s what they’re for

TKfromJuicedps2

Watch where you're walking and get off your phone

Neighborhoodfarmer22

But they need twice a yr for their lake trips! They can’t take it off…EVER!!

feeneyboi

But how do you not see it?

Joliet_Jake_Blues

If only it warned you by being clearly visible...

PhatsaqTX

Maybe look at where you’re walking instead of your phone. Zero sympathy

Sevro706

Good thing he didn't park it the other way... You would have whammed your car against it...

johnnymeow2

Better look where you going

terrydennis1234

You should be more careful how do you hit that its big and obnoxious kind right there

SleeveofThinMints

Pays to be aware of your surroundings. The payout here would be your shin not hurting.

No_Mortgage3189

Watch out for parked cars, eh. They sneak up on you.

Chuckbuick79

Texting and walking is dangerous

AbsolutelyJank

How?? That bush looks pretty harmless.

Interesting_Sock9142

How come you weren't looking where you were walking

AngryWarChild

Weird - If only there were some way to observe the area in which you were walking.

Ash_Killem

How did you not see that?

humungi

Sucks. The truck sucks, but so does your ability to look where you're going.

MikeBinfinity

That picture is old. You're lying for internet points.

WhyUBeBadBot

Open your eyes?

teek87

Who were you texting when it happened? Or were you scrolling this subreddit?

LewiGator

Actually look around once in a while

SeaworthinessDue4052

I am sure it hurt like hell.

Apostate911Hup

:) take the hitch pin out and leave his hitch in there.

Bulldogs3144

Watch where you’re walking

Scrounger_HT

how oblivious can you be though? if someones paying attention to where they are walking this is a pretty obvious hazard how to you fuck this up unless your on your phone or distracted by something else

LeaveForNoRaisin

A wheelchair couldn't get past any of those cars let alone the truck with the hitch. Shit drives me nuts.

Total_March_3588

Been there/ done that. OUCH!!!

Pwrh0use

You couldn't see the big ass red truck?

MGKilla31

RIP

Amish_Gypsy

I am on the emergency response team at work had to respond to a call a few years ago. Guy in a hurry hit one of these and it opened up his shin. Needed stitches. Probably out of work for a few days. That particular night a transformer had failed and the parking lot lights were not on. My company did put better lighting in the parking lots. They strongly encourage all employees to either back pickups in and/or remove the trailer hitches.

HughJassIQ

Do your eyes not work?

grasshoppa2020

Sux. Did same recently.

SmoothStaff2855

So? Watch where you're going... it's a bright red truck with a hitch, pretty clearly visible.

You_Just_Hate_Truth

Stop looking at your phone and watch where you’re going

OtterPops89

I have had a sympathetic experience. But I've also had a worse one. I used to jog before work, and I lived in the city, so I jogged a few blocks around town each morning. One of those mornings there was some construction on one of the blocks. The sidewalk was not closed off to foot traffic so I figured I would be okay to pass by. It was 4:15 AM or about, and as I was jogging past the site, what appeared to be a clear lane ahead suddenly materialized a large crane hook, before I had time to slow down. The crane operator had left the hook dangling at just about the height of my head. Just above the sidewalk. Took a header into it. Turns out I didn't have work that day. Well, I did. Before my bean bounced off a crane hook.
