Oh man, I was on a train once and we pulled up outside the station to wait for a berth, a woman in our carriage was preoccupied with a book and thought she was about to miss her stop. She wrenched open the door and plummeted straight down onto the gravel below, after being helped back up by several passengers she was so flustered and embarrassed that she rushed past them, red faced and staring straight down to avoid eye contact and RAN STRAIGHT OUT THE OPPOSITE SIDE!!! She was helped back again and sat down on the verge of tears until we finally pulled into our stop. It was like a scene from a silent slapstick movie. I bet she thinks about it daily still, decades later. It requires a decent amount of force to even open the doors when stationary, I don’t know how she ignored it.
I cannot follow this story at all...
So she opens a train door and falls off I assume like 4 or 5 feet? And then She's helped back on to the train and almost walked out the other side???
What the hell is going on??
She ran out the other side and fell again (after wrenching open the door), she was super embarrassed and moved so quickly no one had time to react, it was the last thing anyone expected her to do. And yes, it’s about 5-6 feet high and a very rocky landing, it would have hurt! (I thought I’d written it out pretty clearly tbh, I’m not sure what the confusion is?)
My goodness... I was following it entirely correctly the first time. I was legit getting frustrated because I thought I couldn't understand...
Now that I'm more clear, my guess is she figured she went out the wrong side of the train car and the platform was on the other side, but in reality you still had a bit to get to the platform? Yeah?
Thank you a lot for clearing this up. My negative feelings have dissipated.
You wrote it out perfectly. My confusion was due to my brain not even considering what actually happened could ever occur because of how irrational it is- therefore I thought I must be missing some kind of context.
I was confused as well. It wasn't clear because they initially wrote 'RAN STRAIGHT **OUT** THE OPPOSITE SIDE!!!', which doesn't make sense as the only way she could do that were if the door was already open for her to 'run straight out' of. Also, if the door was open for her to do so, it would logically mean they were at a platform and she wouldn't fall, so my brain pictured her stepping outside, looking about confused and flustered only to realise she's not at her stop yet and then beckoned back onto the train by the other passengers. The extra emphasis with the capital letters and triple exclamation mark highlighting this inaccuracy also can cause the reader to double down on their own confusion, thinking they missed something (which they did, because she didn't run straight out the other side, she ran to the door, stopped to yank it open, then fell down again).
It should have read 'ran straight **to** the other side, AND DID THE EXACT SAME THING!!!' or something like that to be perfectly clear.
I find this adorable video completely and totally not relatable to any moments in my life.
Especially those involving a pool at a friend’s house one summer.
Oh, that was me today. Had a lunch break, so went to the local grocery store that has a salad bar, and make salads for myself and my boyfriend. I have done this a thousand times before and neither of us changes what we want very much, so I could prob do this asleep.
I manage to fuck it all the way up, twice, and slink out of the store 20 minutes later with my tail between my legs and four weird salads that both of us will have to pick stuff off of.
Go home, get ready, and leave to go to boyfriend’s house to eat salads. Arrive in his driveway and immediately start primal screaming in my car after realizing I left all the salads in my own fridge.
We had instant oatmeal and saltines for dinner, because we are adults.
It’s a breed thing. When I was at uni my then boyfriend’s mum had one. He was a sweetheart of a dog but Lord he was dim. They’re adapted for being pampered pets and that’s all.
I'm sure you could train them/this dog to be careful around the pool, same as you would a young child who doesn't get the dangers etc. It That's on the human though. Ideally, after filming this, they did that or went and got a doggie pool guard gate or something. hahaha
Better just to put a fence or something, I’m not sure you grasp how dim this breed can be! My bf’s mom’s dog had lived in the home they were renting for years. He still thought he had to come in through the door he left by (kitchen and living room opened onto the garden). He seemed to think they were different gardens. If he went out one door he’d wait by that to come in even if the other was open. Took my dog five minutes to realise he could do a circuit, out one door in the other, when we visited.
My cat thinks the side door is exit-only. I learned that hard way when I tried to call him in from the rain, knowing he was hiding right by the side door. When he heard me, he sprinted towards the front door, then sprinted right back to his hiding spot.
My absolute favorite thing about shih tzus is this,
"Although this breed looks nothing similar to wolves and other wild canids, the Shih Tzu is genetically one of the domestic breeds most closely related to wolves."
I have a shih tzu and we often refer to him as a ferocious wolf. But really he's terrified of garbage bags and isn't very smart.
That's a shih tzu! They're sweethearts! All the ones I've met are always so loving! However, they're also not the sharpest tool in the shed in general... They have their "genius moments", but they're pretty rare.
I’m bawling my arse off here, because laughing. Like if the first part wasn’t bad enough, poor pupper cuts a corner and ends in the drink again??!! My own puppers are very concerned with me LOLLLLLLL
I claim after the first plunge the puppy would have both poor eyesight and depth perception as its fur was likely soaked and matted in front of its eyes.

God I remember my dog doing that, we were at a hotel at night where the pool was glowing but so still I just watched as my dog kept walking and not realizing that glowy thing is not floor as he fell in the water
Actually, I think it is, poor thing. I don’t think he is very graceful at the moment, and misjudged the edge. I have also noticed that depth perception was not great in any of my Shih Tzu’s.
This reminded me of my previous dog, a fearsome/nutty pitbull. He was farting around while I was in bed, and he'd been in bed with me. Then he must have happened on a mousetrap I'd set up and it snapped. And he bolted right into the bed and plunged his head underneath my shoulder. I was like, be still my heart!
Trying to act like nothing happened has its consequences.

Just eat it

Or a super villain origin story.

Yeah it wasn’t rational, it was sheer panic abruptly followed by an embarrassed flight response.
Sounds like the time I got woken up by my manager at my door because I was 2 hours late for a serving shift

I lost it when he just pranced his way in the second time
Ikr looked like me after I screwed up big trying to just walk it off lol
Oh God, that second one….
Seriously, the first part I stuck out my bottom lip, the second part I laughed.
It was the plap-plap-plap-plap-*sploosh* for me
Ah shit, I had my sound off. Thanks for reminding me to turn it on. That was 1000x funnier with his little plops.
Same here. Poor guy! He was like: “Daddy! I got all wet while going to mommy, please help me!” Splash again “you’re no use as well… I am doomed!”
Reminded me of Heihei from Moana, like just full on oblivious.
Poor lil dust mop.
Had me balling!
Clop clop clop clop clop clop sploosh
This is what I named the video when I saved it to share with a Shih Tzu owner I know. 😄
the surprise ending lol
“I’m free!” “I’m free!” “Dang it!”
I can hear this comment. And it's such a great movie!
I find this adorable video completely and totally not relatable to any moments in my life. Especially those involving a pool at a friend’s house one summer.
r/suspiciouslyspecific
Sure
“why are you freaking out?” *bloosh*
Oh so cute. I feel bad for laughing
I was thinking, well, that's just boring, then he fell in again, and I'm over here LOLing! Poor baby!
That second plunging splash. 😂😂😂
The cracks started with the sound of his sloppy prancing away and then shattered with the drop.

Yes! This is the part that got me! I'm Saved, I'm Saved, I'm...HELP!
This is actually pretty funny
yes it is indeed quite humorous
Quite hysterical indeed
I had a good laugh, I'll tell you hwhat
Indubitably amusing.
uh...yes. yes it is.
It's that second fall that has me watching it over and over.
Humor indeed.

Don't go in to work tomorrow. You desperately need a self care day lol
This is such a beautiful response lol
I used to make salads as part of my job and would *frequently* fuck them up, so don't be too hard on yourself.
They’re probably going to have to put a fence around that pool now lol, that or keep a close eye on the pup whenever they let it out.
Many years ago, I had to put a safety net over our pool because my bullterrier was convinced he could walk on water 😁 RIP Pieto
Those two sentences aren't related, are they?
No, he didn't drown.
I think this dog shares that one orange brain cell with the cat...and today was the cat's day to have it.
It’s a breed thing. When I was at uni my then boyfriend’s mum had one. He was a sweetheart of a dog but Lord he was dim. They’re adapted for being pampered pets and that’s all.
Thousands of years of selective breeding to make dogs whose primary function is sitting in a person's lap for hours at a time will do that.
I'm sure you could train them/this dog to be careful around the pool, same as you would a young child who doesn't get the dangers etc. It That's on the human though. Ideally, after filming this, they did that or went and got a doggie pool guard gate or something. hahaha

this thing would not last long in the wild....
Feral shih tzu?
feral shihtzu sounds like something you do when you go camping
Sounds like a good band name
Once went to a zoo where the only animal they had on display was a small dog It was a Shih Tzu
gesundheit
Fo shizzle
Neither would most humans, but like the proud useless shi tzu, we're well adapted to our current situation.
Either would you I agree with you, but lol just saying
*Neither

It’s not like it needed saving though. It could swim. Just not get out of the pool because of having man made vertical edges.
There's no pools in the wild
Neither would most of reddits users
It would never need to.
Sashay...sashay....sashay....SPLASH!
When it fell back in I laughed so hard I puked.
Oh ny god the confident walk with the "plop, plop, plop.." noise then right back into the pool lmao
Cute puppy
Plop! ……………….. Plip!
It’s all happy and totally unbothered about safety.

I have two. One super smart and one super dumb lol
that is the most water sounding water i have ever heard
The second drop done me in.
I’m bawling my arse off here, because laughing. Like if the first part wasn’t bad enough, poor pupper cuts a corner and ends in the drink again??!! My own puppers are very concerned with me LOLLLLLLL
At least the owner helped him out right away instead of just watching and laughing.

Probably looking up at hooman who called him over.

I can relate to this doggo.

I love how he fell in again. Cute little guy. Not so smart though.
The dog looked like it was swimming just fine, I would have kept my hand under its belly and see how far the little guy would go. Good exercise.
