I've never been an AA partisan, different methods look better in different games to me, but TAA is head and shoulders above the other methods in x4. MSAA and FXAA look terrible in this game
4x MSAA looks fine on 2K resolution in my experience, SSAA is the best-looking option for now. But in my experience most higher settings are too demanding especially when in resource-rich areas that either have a lot of asteroids or thick fog.
Been a while since I tried though - maybe it gets better with 7.0.
taa is a great start because you can then have dlaa, even with 8x ssaa you can not get rid of the horrible shimmering... so i would say it's nice it is implemented. if you don't like it, you don't have to use it.
I don't really like upscaling, but the AA part of DLSS/FSR are both pretty good. Hopefully that becomes an option in the future.
At least they're not dropping support for the other AA options with the update and forcing one.
you need to wait for dlss implementation, then you can force the profile in the nvidia inspector https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases
It looks better than 4x MSAA in my opinion, but has far better fps. It is a great way to improve the look of the game while decreasing performance costs.
Why you don't try yourself?
Personally I like it. The smudge of the MSAA is gone, image quality is perfect, performance even better. SSAA 2x was always inefficient and was better to run 50% upscaling with custom resolution than 100% upscaling with SSAA 2x.

I know it's something to do with the graphics. I'm gunna hold my hands up and admit that all these letters confuse me

even if they don't give the option for dlaa, you can force that with a little dlss tool you can download from github or nexus.
or with nvidia inspector
Wait what? Can you share the link? It's on the X4 Nexus?

I love TAA. I don’t get the complaints about the reduced sharpness. To me it appears to be more realistic and pleasant to look at.
I was very concerned about it but it ends up brilliantly implemented, ditched FSR for it. Also the FOV option is great on my ultrawide... finally..

This sounds quite positive. TAA and ghosting is a pet peeve so if they've avoided that I'll happily use it.

I'm waiting for the patch and dlc drop, I want to go in Simi blind. I was just curious.
Meanwhile me, not understanding single world of anything in comments/post, or what is supposed those leters mean / do :D
I typically don't like TAA in games, but it works well here I think.
