I wouldn’t leave it there. I recommend using some fishing line and a tack to suspend the TIE Fighter from the ceiling. Make it look like it’s hovering over your Xbox

Ganon81

Sweet Idea, might do that

Five_Knifes

I do that with all my ships. I use hooks and fishing line, does look really wicked. Had it up for years with no worries

Sahara_Igloo

Have you done it with any bigger ones? Have a UCS Venator that would look beautiful in flight

ilikeburgir

People usually make special hangers on a wall for ships that size. Otherwise it might just fall.

[deleted]

You can tie them to the roof, people have been doing it with model planes for the longest, most hobby shops I’ve been to have large rc planes on the roof

Kool592

Use around 3 lines to relieve stress, since a standard one can be rated for 85lbs (as stated in a previous comment), but not constantly. A fishing line is only dealt with tension when, well, you catch a fish. It is not reliable for the constant pull of lets say 21 pounds, as well as the eventual degredation of the plastic. For this reason I say use around 3 to dissipate weight between them, only putting 7-8 pounds of stress per line. Of course this can be done with a special hanger, but it will not have the same look. So go with whatever you deem cooler/safer!

Past-Edge-4071

I just re tie my hook/lure after 2-3 catches

horngrylesbian

My fishing line is rated to resist 85lbs. I think you'll be ok as long as the hooks are secured.

ButtNutly

Make sure you hit a joist or use a drywall anchor if you live where that's applicable.

CommandoLamb

Yeah, this is how Boeings fly. They are just hung up from the clouds with fishing string.

AntigravityLemonade

They have crazy strong fishing line these days.

Five_Knifes

No but I had the Justifier and I felt it wouldn't be as appreciated hung up. The thing is with big sets; they look better from above. Hanging it up makes it so you've gotta see the underbelly of it, which isn't as bad for small sets

_drumstic_

Working on a Venator currently, and I am loving the build

TEXANMISFIT

You can also tie a knot and clip it between parts so there isn’t any visible hook or tie.

Bakatora1

My cat would destroy that

Ganon81

Oh nice, thanks kind stranger

Numerous-Broccoli-28

Engineerds don't typically plan for people to obstruct air flow. Not even a little. Not worth risking it.

grimoireviper

Except for the Series X they specifically said they expected people to maybe put magazines on top. That's why the slit in the back of the fan area exists. It doesn't provide optimal airflow but according to them enough to not overheat the console.

CommunicatingRaccoon

Where did they say this?

Remarkable_Rice_6371

Say if you've done it, wanna know how it would look

cornezy

Might? You must now!

xXJ3D1-M4573R-W0LFXx

Seems like an excellent idea! Although I’d be careful having it around small children or cats. Otherwise seems legit

ilikeburgir

Yea do that. The LEGO'S might warp with time from the heat. The console should be fine but the model might not.

Stunning-Thanks546

considering the air that comes from the top on the thing I am surprised it don't float on its own

mdwvt

I would use something more than a thumb tack like some sort of ceiling hook, but yes, cool idea.

GrizzyUnderwood33

YOOOOO! THANKS FOR THE IDEA.

zeusmenzaadah

This is the way

spennyblack30

It’s not over time or an Xbox. It’s over an Xbox series X.

Buzzrod81

It's just over, it was good while it lasted

Mind_Prints

Now this man knows how to comment!

Ok-Camp-7285

And this man does not

V4R14N7

Don't do it, the Xbox might be fine but it'll ruin the LEGOs. The heat will make then brittle and they'll break over time.

CyberKiller40

Yeah exactly, it's more a problem for the model than the console. The Xbox might just run the fans a little faster, but the bricks will get ruined after a while.

RapidlySlow

This was my thought. Not about the xbox overheating but the plastic overheating

DOUBLEBARRELASSFUCK

I actually doubt it would get that hot, but the constant heating and cooling will probably wiggle pieces loose.

kftgr2

Wouldn't want brittle bricks shattering into the Xbox either.

Mallingong

With heat and LEGO it’s not brittleness you have to worry about but “clutch”, the bricks are made to be slightly smaller on the inside than the stud is, so that they grip tighter, but if you heat up a built set you can be letting the bricks reform into a stretched out shape that has no clutch.

TheGreatGamer1389

Not sure but it sure ties the room together

Downtown-Spread8852

Haha "ties" tie fighter, i see what you did there

TheGreatGamer1389

People didn't like my pun apparently

GrevenQWhite

They're fighting the laugher.

FollowingQueasy373

They're tie fighting the laughter

zestfullybe

AND A GOOD DAY TO YOU, SIR!

-Seris-

As long as you don’t own a cat, then yes.

Crab_Hot

Maybe not so good for the Legos.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t do it..that thing puts out some pretty serious heat during some games

Psychof1st77

Cool decal on the Xbox, my guy! Directly on/above the Xbox and the heat could warp the plastic over time. Suspend it some distance above the Xbox like others suggested so the heat becomes less of an issue.

MrCondor

No, your Xbox is made of lava.

culminacio

If my Xbox was really made of lava, how do you explain that I am walking over it every day without melting

ImmaBeatThatAss

Yo dude I built the same Tie Fighter last weekend and also got this lighting kit for it: https://a.co/d/9oEK0SJ Came out cool as fuck so I wanted to spread the word

Ganon81

Thats dope, thanks!

Bigd1979666

Love the sticker on the series x. What is it ?

Ganon81

Thanks bud. Got it from this store https://de.easyskinz.com/collections/xbox-series-x

Routine-Jazzlike

Bad for bricks, Xbox would be completely fine.

nilestyle

Seems fine, it’s not majorly blocking airflow. Sick wrap, I like it.

OathOfRhino

It's unlikely to be an issue but also unnecessary

Dull-Possibility1695

Sweet sticker

Lil_Slice_PJ

No cats?

Ganon81

Nope. Doggo but she is not allowed in this room

Lil_Slice_PJ

Oh yeah you’re big chilling I think it’ll be fine

RCKYOTA

Yea. Plenty of air still

Ganon81

https://preview.redd.it/wo8dm0c2wdnc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c172b03f8a22fcb17f20af9587f029f36d578f0 Thanks guys, i rearranged. Makes more sense anyways. I might still hang the Tie Fighter with fishing line as some of you suggested

Odiekt

Odiekt

I've had this Luffy Gear 4 statue on my Series X for roughly 2 years & the model has never had any issue & the Xbox has never gotten any hotter or louder since putting it on top of there so I would assume your Lego piece will be alright

[deleted]

i don't think it'll be that bad for airflow but i personally think it would look better somewhere else rather than on top of an xbox

Kooky_Disaster_8037

Dude nice Xbox skin

DoinThisSince96

That’s cool looking Xbox 👍🏼

[deleted]

That’s pretty sick

DionFW

LoL. This is my setup. https://preview.redd.it/q0oa0doeufnc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49c88434ca43f7fd7f0f8b3a573a872bfc4b0e7c

Rpcouv

The Xbox will be fine that’s enough airflow since it’s pretty open. I’d be more worried about putting a lot of hot air on the legos though I don’t know much about legos durability.

Sorry_Panda4894

Yeah bro, it won't melt for sure

Reformed-otter

Honestly? No. Your Xbox probably won't explode but it will be running slightly hotter than it needs to. Do you really need to put that there?

grimoireviper

> but it will be running slightly hotter than it needs to Lol no, that more than enough space to not affect airflow in the slightest. If anything this would be bad for the Lego model.

Reformed-otter

No it definitely effects airflow, anything above it does

Ganon81

No, not really. My room is stuffed though, shelfs are full. But i can of course rearrange

ChemoManiac77

What’s that Vader figure? Got a link?

Ganon81

Jakks Pacific 71464 - Darth Vader 50 cm https://amzn.eu/d/a07qyGo From German Amazon 6 or 7 years ago. Hope it helps. The figure is really nice, i love it

IYKYK808

Depends how hot the air it exhausts is. I had models over my pc for years with no noticeable issues except that the heat helps cake on dust if you dont clean them every now and then. I now have hallmark cards over the top. Edit: I don't let my gpu get hotter than 75C (167F) and I don't let my cpu get hotter than 65C (159F). But even then it normally operates 5-10 degrees below that at max unless I'm playing total war or some other game that's demanding or unoptimized

amazedyou

Yes it will be fine

AWAKENEDTEMPEST

Unlikely has no shields

TheUtensilMan

Hang it from the ceiling with fishing line. It’ll look 100x cooler and the legos won’t get cooked and break. Xbox shouldn’t have any issues, but legos don’t do well with heat

Izzy_Mag

It won’t it will get frozen from your mini refrigerator💀

0tistrai

Star Wars fans will appreciate it

Resident-Donkey-6808

For the console yes for the lego plastic I don't think so the heat from the vent over time. It might expand the plastic bricks and cause the model to fall apart. If it was me I would put a self above the console for such things.

BigChungus081

The lego will melt

I_Was_Fox

The Xbox will be absolutely fine. The tie fighter might get realllllly warm though. I don't know if it will be enough to melt the Lego pieces but it could ruin the decals

SeaworthinessPlus650

If you go with fishing line I recommend 10-12lb test fluorocarbon. It's the most invisible compared to braid or monofilament.

BriGard_

Should be fine, but I wouldn’t recommend. The top exhausts a lot of hot air that could cause some damage over time.

Sokaai

This xbox is so beautiful

lordaddament

Xbox will be fine but idk if the legos will hold up over the long term

tokki32

The heat from your Xbox will melt the ship, causing liquid plastic to seep into the vents and causing your Xbox to overheat and catch on fire and burn your house down.

whos_yer_buddha

nope

highsteaks1312

Don't listen to the peeps in the comments. It's gonna be fine. Unless you're restricting 50%+ of the exit, it won't do anything.

[deleted]

No, it will absolutely melt everywhere and set the entire world on fire.

Worldly_Total2543

Not recommended but it's fine someone strsss tested the xbox and taped it to vent completely off and the xbox still got sufficient air flow

Practical_Round_8834

I kinda did the similar thing. I put a foam plane above my Series X. Now, it slightly spins around. It's underwhelming, but I still like it.

[deleted]

Probably

BoostedDC2

The console puts out around 43⁰c during long gaming sessions. Covering those holes won't affect airflow as the fan is smaller than the top. But the heat could cause issues with the Lego over time. The setup looks good, I'd leave it if the Legos aren't a concern.

SpareInformation472

Yes, yes it will

joeysadz

I would probably melt the Lego’s plastic and overtime so ya no not a good idea

OswaldTheCat

No it won't, my bank account was destroyed buying bloody Star Wars Lego 😞

StabinTheBack2077

Yes

FuryHunter12

Ayo

The_Fish_Is_Raw

Unlikely to cause issues though as others have said it'll probably mess up the Lego.

Zombie-Rooster

Why does it need to be on or above you xbox? Just curious to the need of such placement. Anyway... no, wouldn't recommend leaving it there

[deleted]

Idk what heat people are talking about, my Xbox X literally never gets even remotely hot and I leave it on multiple days at a time sometimes. I play all the high demanding games, everything. I highly doubt it would have any effect on those legos whatsoever.

lablurker27

I'd be more worried about the cracking on the Xbox. Looks like it's red hot on the inside and about to blow.

[deleted]

Nope. Gonna explode.

joshthornton

That is legitimately fine.

Why_do_u_lag

Thats one fine lookin xbox

aKIRALE0

It will never float/flight over the Xbox if that's what you're asking

IcySky3265

“Will my fragile LEGO Tie Fighter that’s already hanging off the edge of my Xbox be fine here permanently?” Yeah dude it’s totally fine. I can’t possibly imagine what could go wrong in this scenario

Optimus_prlme

How did you get that Xbox design?? Please tell me!!

Ganon81

Bought it here https://de.easyskinz.com/collections/xbox-series-x?shpxid=289811cd-12d4-4bc1-9024-152c4beba27a

Optimus_prlme

I don't pay with euros I pay with USD

GHOST_1804_

i have that same red five helmet

Rough_Travel_2002

Nice box

Sparkstertive

defenitly will explode

Zoooob69

I do something similar with my series s and it works fine

ANThrRNDM_Name

I mean for the Xbox yeah, they don’t really sweat these things, the legos might go through it tho

hiGradeTi7ANEUM

Yes, your LEGO will not melt, nor spontaneously disassemble.

JosephMorality

One stomp away from falling

Patient-Woodpecker-7

Dude?!! Where did you get that series x wrap my god i didn't know this was a thing!

Ganon81

Got it from a store called easyskinz

Level_Newspaper_6687

I would say it should be fine as far as ventilation but I still wouldn’t put it up there because It looks like it could fall off pretty easily and I’ve heard the Xbox runs pretty hot so it may even warp the tie fighter but maybe just check what temps the legos can handle but as far as for the Xbox temps it shouldn’t make much of a difference because I’m pretty sure it can handle the heat they’re pretty stout for the price point

ThatWizard95

Hang it from the ceiling with fishing line. It looks like it's flying

SpinachDifferent4077

Is that porn on the TV?

DionFW

Looks like soccer.

SpinachDifferent4077

Right. Wait. Am I the only one who jerks off to soccer?

tonelander

Gary Lineker was quite fetching back in the day.

Ganon81

Correct, its football

Alert-Main7778

It’s fine haha

Suitable-Ad8093

Just place it horizontally and will be fine. I've heard, placing series x vertically may messed-up processor, because of heat.

gvyledouche

not a great idea. the model also obstructs airflow in the cross-section. there shouldn't be anything within ~6" of a ventilation point

Zarnya

Oh shit, a strand of hair was blocking my Xbox, world is over, everything is dead

BLUNKLE_D

True story?

Zarnya

yea my xbox just exploded

hennystrait

I mean it doesn’t look good there. So not even sure why you would place it there in the 1st place.

BladePhoenix

The other commenters fishing line idea is genuinely better, but I don't think this would be that bad if you're attached to it.

TomySakazaki

It would be VERY bad to whatever is put over the SeriesX exhaust vents.

[deleted]

Is that a special edition XSX or you wrapped it? Seriously why am I getting downvoted for asking this question...?

Ganon81

Because Reddit ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) its a trap, errr wrap

Sol_Searcher_

It’s most likely wrapped.

HXCg4m3r

Hard to tell by the picture, but it may be too close to the wall as well.

ShaRo_

Technically no problem at all, but aesthetically it’s actually horrendous.

Ganon81

Jeez, calm down

VagueSomething

It won't immediately mess with it but it isn't a smart idea as it isn't just blocking holes but also creating an area where the air cannot flow up and away, both due to the wings trapping the flowing air from going wide and the cockpit blocking the air that goes up. Might not notice it overall until doing demanding games but it is still a risk of causing issues.

No-War1666

Oh man!!! I'm so sorry. That's not gonna work at all. You should probably just send it to me and I'll take better care of it..... It doesn't look like it's blocking air flow however the weight might be pushing the plastic fan cover against the fan slowing it down if not helping to burn out the fan motor.... It's nice though.

GRIZZLY-CAN-01

It can restrict flow but thats cool as hell

lwalterwhite

No it will explode

QuantumQunt

No, will explode and destroy human life.

CoinMunchr1

until it starts hovering ![img](emote|t5_2ac5sx|1743)

Wolfwood7713

If you have to ask, it’s probably not okay.

NebulaBrew

I'd say no. It's close enough to somewhat interrupt the airflow.

Mug_of_Diarrhea

I used to have mine barely obstructed, less than yours probably and it gave me a heat warning. Like one guy said, you might try to suspend it above the xbox with some line to keep the airflow.

Comfortable_Rock_584

I don't think you should do that honestly

Violated_gator3312

Is very touchy about cooling so d9nt risk it mines dead from that
