I just did it today at GameStop. They gave me $150 credit to go towards the Series X. That helped.

OGRedd

$150? not bad I was gonna offer $100

GuruFoxx

Absolutely worth it if you like better visuals, performance and storage.

jizylemon

Yes, always worth upgrading to an X if possible, especially if you have a collection of physical games. Game stores are stopping trading in, Cex still do it but because they are pretty much the only ones doing it now they offer shite sell and trade value. As of today if you have all the original stuff and box with it you’ll get £92 trade voucher or £59 cash for it.

NewBobPow

Thete are plenty of physical games online.

jizylemon

Ok and?

Canadiandaddy1990

Bad teeth

addisdad76

Eh?

GrimVoo

I upgraded last year from series S when I upgraded my TV. Worth it.

Kell_215

Yes worth the upgrade, when I had an s I thought it was cool to have a mini next gen console but I barely touched it over my ps5. Now I actually purchased games on my xsx and play it a few times a week. I’m excited for hellblade after work and errands

[deleted]

Not many good games take advantage of 4k AND 120hz

TaylorBax__

Thank you for the replies will definitely get one now when it goes on deal. And probably just hope to sell the series S or keep as a back up 😊

Glittering_Yellow968

They on sale now on Best Buy

thatdood87

Fuck yea it is. I bought a one x on ebay back in 2021 because I couldn't find a series x and wanted to get back in to gaming. In March I bought a series x on ebay for $329 and it came with a 1 year warranty. I love this machine. Couldn't be happier with it.

Stunning-Task1721

X is a much faster machine

FaendalFucker69

Go for it, I had S for two years before buying X, now I keep S as a backup / travel console

fuzzy-sushi1444

Yes, definitely worth trading in the S for an X.

[deleted]

I've gone back and forth between S and X so many times, but am going for the X for hopefully the final time. The dealbreaker for me? Being able to play F.E.A.R. at 60fps.

DawgMan97

Totally worth it, the Series X bangs so much harder, I upgraded from a one to an X and load times is night and day difference. Game on!

Historical-Goal7079

Yessir

TwiztedRat

It’s worth upgrading imo

confusedsimian

Just did this yesterday. Picked up an X for £260 locally off Facebook marketplace and sold my S for £140 on eBay. Not a bad upgrade price overall. The X came.with some wrestling 2024 game I'll probably sell as well.

FlyingBirdflip

I'm in a similar boat, I got an X for £230, and trying to sell my S on eBay. How on earth did you manage to sell yours for £140? Did you bundle it with anything? Thanks in advance

confusedsimian

I actually did throw in a 512GB SSD with usb->SATA cable I had lying around that wasn't much use for anything else. Maybe that sweetened the deal? Some people worry about storage size.

EnchantedWood1981

I traded up from series s to x, And I love it. For me the hype is real all my games were transformed in looks and performance. the s is a great console I enjoyed my time with it. The series x with its 4k goodness still surprises me after having it for 8 months now. Even playing old games like forza 3 (with the one x enhanced bit) amaze me let alone modern games like hellblade 2. The Blu-ray drive has meant i can enjoy stuff like the orange box from the 360 (not available digital anymore in the store due to licensing) I know there will be a new console soon and I’m sure it’s going to be expensive, but pre-owned series x are quite reasonable for what you get seriously.

Wrathilon

I upgraded to the series x from s. Way worth it

BitingSatyr

Yeah stores are always looking to lowball you, I’d try and sell it on FB marketplace or eBay or something

McCandlessDK

Yea it is very much worth. Its a great console.

Spartan584

Yes it's worth it but the trade in prices are shocking, you only get about £60 from shops. Might be able to get £100 for it selling on FB marketplace, gumtree etc. Series X consoles come up around £350 when there's deals on or about £280 for a refurbished one. Use HotUKDeals for finding the best current price

TrustTheScience0

Definitely Series S was a lot of crap.

Insertcoolname6

Yes I did at CEX

TaylorBax__

How much did you get ?

cvbk87

cex prices online are the same as in store

Adventurous-Pie-6104

Gotta say thers only around 50 to 100 games that run at 120hz, but there are some great games like cod and apex that run 120hz

technocraticnihilist

Not necessarily

Constant-Reality6580

I Bought a Series S on eBay for $199 to see what all the fuss is about! So I subscribe to game pass and feel in love with star field but I have a 4K tv and wasn’t very impressed by the visuals as I was with the ps5 visuals. So I return the series s back to eBay and I was lucky enough to find a brand new series x for $399 which I’m currently waiting for it to arrive usps. 😃

Snoo-17149

Man, I only got the series x because it would've been the same price, if not just a tad bit difference in price. 1 tb external drive is like $100, and that's like a mandatory purchase if you play big games. At that point, you're really only saving $150. Then, if you want to buy a game, it's going to be up to $40-$60, and you can't really get a pre-owned downloaded game😂

SWBFThree2020

Damn I didn't realize they offered such fair air prices at gamestop I literally paid less than what they're offering in Store Credit... so I might just trade it in and save the store credit for a PS5, a Switch 2 or whatever the midpoint xbox is https://preview.redd.it/k7rrjqk1kh5d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcb87eff07691736c0ec1b51d9902c4035b6d894

JuicyBreeze

I would keep the series s for gamepass and get a ps5. You will get jack all for a used series s. But you could find a used ps5 for pretty cheap. Through ps plus and gamepass tons of older games are covered, and others are dirt cheap to buy

TaylorBax__

Yea good point. Been thinking of waiting for this potential ps5 pro at the end of year. In no rush to get one just because I got quite a few games that I've bought on Xbox but not finished yet.

realperson113

You know what the truth is I absolutely love the Xbox series X I was really quite disappointed during the years I owned a PS4 which was probably 2015 until about 2021 so this generation I just sort of had the urge to start fresh I really wanted to feel like I was buying a brand new console and getting a different experience and I haven't regretted my choice. I just feel PlayStation is kind of getting old now there's not really that many great reasons why I felt like I should get a PS5 I also really didn't like how big this system is it just looks silly and ridiculous I really like the basic black Console it just fits really nice on your TV And I really enjoy the game pass aspect There's been a lot of great games I've barely had to buy any games I think the only new game I bought was Resident Evil 4 Which probably will also end up on Game Pass at some point But it's just been a great experience it's really been a great experience I mean I'm not a hardcore gamer I like a lot of Classics But it was a great choice I feel Because I also wanted a new Dvd Blu-ray player Along with all those streaming Services along with the Netflix on

TaylorBax__

Yeah I get your point because I was looking to get one to play Spiderman and god war but after that I don't what I do with the console. As my whole time playing console has been Xbox and love to be able to go back to old games or those on game pass. Shame can't get Spiderman and other on Xbox 😂

realperson113

Well I just felt basically I just be re-downloading everything I bought on the PS4 and more or less playing most of that again and I know what to mean when it comes to something like Spider-Man but I mean we've been playing it for the past 20 years you know what's really different that's the way I felt when I played the first Spider-Man game on the PS4 I was just sort of like it's just the same thing as it was 20 years ago more or less but I don't know Xbox just seems more well-rounded there's a lot of cool interesting games a lot of great Classics being able to play a lot of those old Xbox Originals is really cool I got really sucked into Yakuza like a dragon then played about 70 hours of that on Game Pass which I know is on other systems as well but I don't know it just gives me a feeling I haven't had for a long time since probably the PS3 Xbox 360 kind of era

TaylorBax__

Yea I get what you mean that's one of my thoughts with spending 300-400 on used/new console and me thinking the games are to familiar and stale. Because I remember playing those old Spiderman game back in the day. What I love at the moment on Xbox is just downloading old games like Titanfall 2 GTA V and just having my save data still there. I found a lot people around me who have switched console have ended up rebuying games they already had 100's of hours on, on Xbox anyway.

sgrizzly2134

I got confused and thought I was buying an Xbox one series s... Well I accidentally ordered a one S. Luckily I was at day 7 of game stop returns and they accepted it and I said fuck it and upgraded to the series x. I fucking love it. Damn near everything is in 4k and there's such a huge difference.

R116unashamed

I'm thinking about upgrading from a PS5 to the new 2tb splatter series x after seeing that Xbox show case. Xbox hit us Sony ponies with the Eminem killshot. Xbox said pop Champagne to this. I had to give you a career to destroy it. Dang I'm salty lol I'm jumping ship back to Xbox.

No-Actuator81

Sold my Series X to a buddy of mine and bought the Series S thinking, meh they are close enough and I don’t need the latest and greatest…Didnt take me long to realize my mistake…The differences to me in a number of games were jarring…Playing Jedi survivor from 30 fps to 60 was a big difference.

TaylorBax__

Yea I didn't realise jedi survivor even ran over 30 FPS on current gen consoles until I saw a Series S Vs X comparison video on it. Been holding off on finishing jedi survivor until I get a series X just for the higher FPS.

sgrizzly2134

I recently got a 4k 55 in tv and it's fucking amazing. Got the series x and it's pretty fantastic as well. My tv is only 60hz though, how much am I really missing compared to a 120hz 4k tv? Is it a huge difference?

imtired-boss

Oddly enough I couldn't trade my series S in since Gamestop closed in Ireland and the only reseller offered 60€ for it. I was like whaa. But then I had a long forgotten One X, dusted it off and they gave me 120€ for it, plus I handed them a broken controller which they didn't notice was broken (D-pad down button would get stuck haha) for 40€ so got a barely used Series X for 200€. Holding the series S as a backup for now.

Legionofgo

Get a ps4 its better
