I'm now having flashbacks of a short-lived TV series based off this (or maybe just a mini-series) starting Ryder Strong. I'm going to look for proof, brb.
Back. There were TWO mini series, sand and it was Rider's big bro Shiloh in the second one.

There was a miniseries tv show about the book, I believe on ABC.
I don’t remember if I liked it though.
Edit: googled it and looks like there was a mini series and a one season series.
Loved that show. I always loved the idea of the books so the series was pretty cool to me. Was sad it didn't go on past that. Shows that use a ton of cgi on basic TV were probably took expensive to do unless it was a huge pull. If it was a huge success I could see them doing a full season. But just the series was probably a test of sorts.
Still remember one of the boys used the lyrics from Bohemian Rhapsody in his school essay. Since they didn't know outside knowledge he could just plagiarize anything he wants.
James Gurney is an incredible painter. My husband grew up with these books and we met him at a book signing a few years ago, and he included awesome little dinosaur drawings with his signature. I wish I had encountered these books as a kid! Not sure how I missed them, but I’m happy that we have a bunch of prints of art from the book hanging around our home.
I never heard about it until I was in my 40s. A former coworker who does all sorts of art for websites mentioned how much this book inspired her, and, while I continued to listen to her (she was giving a talk about her and her career), I ordered it for my nephew who loves it so much.
I’m pretty sure I looked through the pictures hundreds of times but never actually read the story
There were words?
I don’t remember words. Just dino’s.
Ya funny I read this to my daughter recently and it was likely the first time actually reading it
We got it for Xmas one year! Paired great with our Dino-Riders action figures 🦖🦕
I still have Hammerhead and Antor figures!
I want a Hammerhead and alligator one so bad!

Yes! Def ABC (I didn't have cable). Might be wrong about Rider though. ...I think I remember it sucking, lol
I still have the DVD from when my kids were little. They watched it a lot. Fond memories ❤️

I still have it and my daughter and I look through it regularly! Beautiful illustrations!
My daughter will just stare at the tree houses picture for like 30 minutes straight. Says she’s making up a story
Just bought my oldest the whole series
I checked this out at minimum 10 times during middle school. Such awesome illustrations.
I definitely read the young adult one about the kid learning to ride a pterodactyl.
Dinotopia: Windchaser
I bet I still have this!!
I loved this. This is the Jurassic Park I wanted
I don't remember ever reading this but I kinda wish I had read it. The artwork is amazing.
Just read to my kids a few months ago it is awesome. Artwork is absolutely incredible.
This popped up in my memory recently and bought some used copies and have been reading it to my kids. Awesome book
This is just, peak everything. Loved these.
This book was HUGE at my elementary school. A core memory for sure.
I still own this book. I also used to read the series written by various other authors.
This book was a reason I liked going to the dentist, it was always there and he had other art books like these that I loved to read
Yes! And I was in the UK.
Some kid accidentally found this in “non-fiction” 25 years ago and now we have /r/Tartaria
I still have both sitting on my bookshelf.
Still on my shelf
I don't remember where I discovered these but they were fantastic.
I had a huge collection of these books. This series deserves a modern tv/movie adaptation instead of the corny sfx from 25 years ago.
Had the pleasure of introducing this to my 5yo daughter recently. The paintings are as amazing as I remembered them!
Still have it! I used to go to sleep listening to the books on tape too 💗
I still have my copy. Autographed with a sketch.
I owned that book! Actually I passed it on to my own kid.
Love this book! And Voyage of the Basset! Give me maps and calligraphy in the margins anytime.
Oh my god, I owned this book! I loved it so much!!! Most likely a purchase from Waldenbooks.
Yesssss!!!!!!!!!!

I remember seeing the full size paintings at the Royal Tyrell Museum. So cool.
I have my own copy!
Still got it!
My parents gave them to me one year for Christmas and I hated them. I didn't even like dinosaurs. I still feel bad about my ingratitude.
Fantastic work. My mom got me this and the follow ups
Such a great book! We read it so many nights as a bedtime story!
It was always checked out.
I remember it from the book fairs. I wanted it but wanted Gremlins more because it had a record in the back
Op posts the cover but not the inside. 🙃
Got it as a bday present when I was young kept it and passed it along to my children, they loved it too
What tripped me out was when it got turned into a show.

I remember seeing commercials for the book, but I didn’t know English at the time, so I only saw a book with cool dinosaur pictures 🧉🦄
