It’s beautiful! Would you share the pattern name? I have a pile of Alize yarn, but haven’t seen that pattern before.

deadredhellcat

The name on Amazon is “Alize Puffy Fine Ombré Batik Yarn”- it’s loop yarn, so if you search that, you should find it. The one I used is 79.8 yards per skein (I used two and a half skeins for this blanket).

RuralTesla

Thanks - didn’t realize they had ombré colors. What pattern did you use? Was it on the yarn label?

deadredhellcat

I used a cross-cross “stitch” instead of the regular method. And for the color, I used the first ombre skein and then unraveled the second skein so I could start with the lightest color instead of the darkest. Hopefully that answered your question!

RuralTesla

It sure does - thank you!

That looks so soft, warm, and cozy! It's gorgeous!

deadredhellcat

Thank you! It’s so cozy and actually a bit heavy! Definitely going to make one for my own bed soon

WillowandJenn

Congratulations on finishing and sharing as a gift! Doesn’t that feel so sweet? ❤️ You’ve worked up a special gift for your BF’s mom; I bet she loves it. 👍🏼❤️

deadredhellcat

I was super excited to give it to her and she loved it! I can’t wait to see it on her bed next time we visit!

Gorgeous! Love the subtle ombré in the middle

deadredhellcat

Thank you!! I feel like ombré makes simple things like this a bit more interesting

galinamarie

So pretty. Is this the blanket yarn?

deadredhellcat

It’s similar in softness, but it’s loop yarn! It’s by the brand Alize on Amazon

galinamarie

Oh wow ok that's really nice. I haven't seen many things come from loop yarn. So pretty

CrispyApparition3568

Beautiful! I truly hope it was well received!

deadredhellcat

She loved it! Purple is her favorite color

CrispyApparition3568

That's awesome! I'm so glad it was met with appreciation! BTW, purple is also my favorite color!! I once gave my MIL (now ex MIL) a beautiful, two-toned sweater I crocheted. She never wore it. A few years later, I made (sewed) her a king-sized quilt and used antique buttons to "tie" it. She never used it. I tried once more, and hand painted a sign for their summer cabin, with the name they called the property, and an image of the cabin on it. People hang similar signs at their summer properties at the roadside, so visitors can find them. She never hung it at the cabin. She put it out in the garage, and for all I know it's still there. (I divorced their son several years later in 2008... ) She never got another gift frim me of any kind. The only gifts she got after that were from her son (my ex) and my kids. Now only people I know who will appreciate handmade things receive things I've made! And of course my skills have improved over the years, so for all the others, it's their loss now!! Lol

deadredhellcat

I’m so sorry, that’s terrible! The gifts sound wonderful and it says a lot about you as a person that you’d go through such lengths to craft something special for someone (even if they didn’t appreciate it). At least she’s an ex MIL!

I made and gave my MIL a cross-stitched picture based on their heritage. Not bragging but I always did very complicated cross-stitch pictures (and was asked by a store to do some of the projects they sold in their store). I sweated over that project, had i5nprofessional frames as I did on all my completed projects. Not a thank you from her and never saw it. His relatives hated me (different heritage and religion) but I thought I would make the gesture one more time of trying to show them I was not holding any grudges. I gave up after that. They were never nice to me. Gave my sister a completed, framed project about teddy bears for a Christmas present of which she collected many teddy bears at the time. Never saw it and when I asked about it she said it didn't fit into her decor. Yep. Massive slap in the face. She always presented her true colors. Now I only make something for someone if I am asked or I am positive the person appreciated the thought, time and effort that goes into a handmade item (now crochet). I am truly sorry for how your sincere efforts had ben thrown back 8n your face. I am glad she is in your past now.

CrispyApparition3568

I'm glad too! I now have a much nicer and absolutely wonderful almost-MIL. We trade crochet patterns, help each other decipher difficult ones, and she has helped me with a few sewing projects. And it seems nearly everyone in my family and my fiancé's family appreciates the work and love that goes into any handmade project! I'm sorry you also had similar attitudes from your recipients. Once I get that rude vibe from someone, they get no effort from me! Happy to see you do pretty much the same!

Agreeable-Antelope-6

Oh, I really envy what you have now. I have no one to talk crochet with. Enjoy for me! Yep, I give nothing in return now. I am thinking of crocheting for some causes (like for pet adoption centers, etc.). Just have to find where I think the benefit will be apparent.

BoujiCorgi

Gorgeous !

yarnsncraft
