Thank you for sharing! I never even considered doing this but it makes so much sense! Feel kinda stupid for not doing it in the past

Probably not I was able to see a lot of my plan before accepting my current job, but not that detailed

lulacapri

I’ve been wondering this as well as I’m also job hunting - wishing you luck!!

rando1219

Obviously job specific but my companies all sent me a pdf of benefits with my job offer letter. The packet said the choices like BCBS PPO. You can try to look at their formulary, but really no guarantee. The thing is, a lower level job probably won't cover this. If you're at a higher level job, you probably shouldn't base your employment decision on this.

Mine didn’t 😕 I found out about the choice of plans with company insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) only after signing up the offer. But you can try to check Glassdoor or similar resources to see if any current employees said what insurance they have. But frankly, I’ve read that most corporate insurance plans at the moment don’t cover weight loss medication. With mine all GLP-1 meds (including Zep) were covered only for diabetes.

Kind_Introduction948

That’s strange that they would cover Zep for diabetes only when it’s fda approved for obesity

kevink4

I think the Zep was listed as an example of GLP-1. If for diabetes I'm sure it would be Mounjaro.

Annyshka_UKR

I mean BCBS does list Zep in their drug sheet. They can prescribe it to deal with obesity as another symptom, but to get it covered by my insurance (which excludes weight loss medication) I would need to have another underlying condition - diabetes. That being said, I agree, the doctor would prescribe Mounjaro in this case. One way or another, it feels like they want you to get worse before offering you a life vest.. so right now I am paying out of pocket.

Cosmictrashpanda94

They will give you what is basically a coverage summary, you will want to request the full plan docs. Be upfront with what you are looking for. If they say they exclude obesity treatment ask them if they allow for coverage exception / PA. Larger corps often will if you just request it and if a PA review indicates that you qualify. It’s extra legwork but might be worth ir
