I'm so envious of everyone in their 20s and 30s who is getting a chance with this drug. I think about how differently I might have lived my life if I hadn't been obese for the last 38 years. I'm really excited for the opportunity you all have.
I started just after my 57th birthday, plan to be on it forever.
Ditto! At 58, I'm glad this drug was at least available in my lifetime. But there is definitely sadness about missing out on so much life because of my weight insecurities.
This! At the same time, I’m so thrilled for my daughter (only 12), who is growing up in a world where it won’t be necessary for her to struggle the way her mother has, IF it should come to that. ❤️
I was 52 when I started. BMI was 31, is now 21.5. I’m going to try my hardest to be on a low dose for life, but insurance coverage/cost might become an issue at some point. As a post menopausal woman, without Zep I’ll blow up like a balloon in a heartbeat 😫
I would like to be on 2.5mg for maintenance but my doctor told me that insurance doesn’t cover it long term since it’s the starting dose. Says 5mg would be the lowest 😞
Check with your insurance. Don't go by the doctor's word, they can't know the ins and outs of every patient's insurance. Mine has been covering 2.5 for months. At the end of last year thru Feb, my insurance said it would only pay 1 fill of the 5mg every 365 days. That has now been deleted on my insurances portal.
I’m not sure where I’ll land yet, but I’m thinking probably 10mg for maintenance. Possibly 7.5, I’ll just have to see. My insurance covers multiple fills of all dosages. 2.5 isn’t strong enough for me personally for maintenance, but everyone is different.
Edit: in my original comment, I should have said I plan to be on a *lower* dose forever, not a *low* dose. Just wanted to clarify.
66 years, six months ago. I have already gained back a dozen years with this weight loss and it is all for my grandchildren. Until something else comes along this will be my go to drug of choice.
60 something. For life or when a better option is available. Maintenance of a healthy life is and has been my goal.
A part of that is a goal weight range of 180-175. BMI 26.7ish. Overweight by the statistics. But not for me. And that is what matters.
I want to be healthy. Bottom line.
60. I’ll be a lifer on this, or other weight related meds. I’ve been battling the scale for half my life. I’m through with that. I’ll live in a tent in my kids back yard in order to afford it, if necessary. I’m that convinced and committed.
46. I lost 80 lbs busting my butt over 2-3 years starting when I was in my mid-30s, but I’ve regained it all (and have also been extra hungry since then).
This is a game changer and I’m happy to have it. But I’ll be on it or something like it for life because I can’t deal with the constant false hunger year after year in order to maintain it on my own. This gives me the help I need.
27, been on Mounjaro since April. SW 188 CW 157 GW 140. If I continue at this pace should reach my goal by early September. I don’t want to have to rely on it for the rest of my life, mostly as I’m paying for it privately, so once I reach my goal I’m going to see how it goes coming off it. I don’t have kids yet so will need to be off it if I plan on getting pregnant in the next couple years, seems like it’ll be a play it by ear kinda thing!
Best of luck on your journey ❤️
6 months till I’m 50. I was fat in my 20’s, 30’s n 40’s…..I refuse to be fat in my 50’s!!! Daughter dating a great guy….might be planning a wedding that I’m. It gonna be the fat mother of the bride!!!
I’d love to stay on for life
That’s what I’m noticing. I’m 59, have been dieting since 1979, and am quite frankly exhausted. I’m willing to throw in the towel and admit I have chronic obesity. Grateful there is finally something that works as I had lost hope.
I am 54 , birthday in October . Been overweight most of my life . Have mental issues because of it . Just hoping I can learn to love myself soon . I’m only and barely 5 ft tall so very soon I will begin shrinking , maybe I can lose weight before the height loss begins ! Uuggghhh
Late 30s. This medicine was designed to be for life for those with chronic obesity. It will be for me. With this medicine or the subsequent ones that follow. My lifestyle was pretty healthy before zep, and I exercised. But this medicine helps me lose (and hopefully keep off weight)
I would encourage you to get your body as healthy as possible. I think the more time you spend on obesity/significantly overweight the harder it is to lose.
Good luck
Started last July when I was 55. Hit maintenance and GW in November. Been on monthly shots every since then. Am now 56, and I plan on continuing since I take one shot per month vs per week. Current dosage is 7.5
37. I'm hoping to be able to come off eventually because my body can't handle certain foods at all right now. Popcorn is an example. I have to be super careful about the kinds of food I eat or I'm in awful pain from trapped intestinal gas the next day and I don't want to live my entire life worried about if the modest meal I just ate is going to make me miserable in 12 hours. I'm hopeful there is a way to wean off or cycle part-time of the year or that there will be an option to have a medication that hold my weight in place without the belly distress I've had.
Staying on for life- doctor had the discussion it would be for life before I started as part of ensuring I understood the med properly. She also mentioned there were many additional meds in this class in development and we may migrate to one of those one day- but it will always be something. I will happily take this forever.
Started 3 months ago and am now 37. If I need to be on a low dose for life to maintain a new version of myself then so be it. I'm hoping that I'll be able to wean off after a while whenever I reach goal.
I am 41 and I plan to try to be on it as along as I can so I can live at a healthy weight. Since I am a T1 diabetic and have other autoimmune diseases there is already so much stress on my organs.
I started in April at age 60. Zepbound is a miracle. I have PCOS, had a cystic ovary removed when I was 23, and struggled with weight issues all throughout my life. I have lost 32 pounds so far. Need to lose 50 more. I will probably be on a low dose forever. I pay OOP, as my insurance (Blue Cross of Michigan) does not cover it. Insane policy imo. Insurance companies would rather have us on on high blood pressure and high cholesterol meds, anti anxiety treatments, etc., than pay for weight loss solutions. Our country is so backward in so many ways.
started at 33, on it for 5 months now. don't plan on being on it forever. when I hit my goal weight, may take 2.5 for a few months and then come off. Hopefully keeping the weight off for good.
I'm 24 I started in March. My insurance cover it's 100% ( met out of pocket) it's my family insurance so I only have until I'm 26 anyway and I can't afford it before we meet our out of pocket (first 6 months of the year) I'm getting what I can until January. Ive recently fell off the wagon with exerciseing the last month I'm hoping to start weight lifting soon so I can gain muscle back. I plan on going of my other meds that caused a lot of my cravings and weight gain when I go longer have zepbound I'm on a mission this next 6 months to build healthier habits I can maintain in the long run.
I’m 59 and wish this was available when I was in my 35. At 25, unless I weighed over 250lbs and had other health issues, I would not have chosen this route.
40. I’m not sure how long I’ll be on this but I’m prepared to do it forever or at least as long as is possible.
As a side note, my metabolic health doc told me when she prescribed this that with the rate the medications are evolving, the possibility of pills and different dosages, and the variance in everyone’s bodies, some folks may find they don’t need it that long and may be able to maintain without. Many other people will need to continue to take it. She said the docs are also learning as we are about lifelong implications. For what it’s worth.

27 and yep, thanks to PCOS *et al.* it’s gonna be tirzepatide me, together forever
Yup, I got PCOS and hashimotos as well
29yo and in the same boat! Just happy that the injections don’t hurt as much as I expected lol
Same here, 27 y/o and PCOS 🫡✨ Along with knee issues!
66 years, six months ago. I have already gained back a dozen years with this weight loss and it is all for my grandchildren. Until something else comes along this will be my go to drug of choice.
55 - planning to take Zepbound as long as I can.

54...... Definitely for life
38. I’ll be on it as long as I can possibly afford it.
38. Won’t be mad if I have to stay on it to maintain. Have a ways to go though. Ultimately I’d like to maintain without meds if possible.
46. I lost 80 lbs busting my butt over 2-3 years starting when I was in my mid-30s, but I’ve regained it all (and have also been extra hungry since then). 39 probably for ever.
51 - cancer, pandemic, surgical menopause, and then ankle issues that kept me immobile. Gained more weight than I did during pregnancy.

30. Not sure about being a lifer. We will see.
48, hopefully for life
41 - for life
50. Having a hell of a time with side effects, but trying to stick it out long-term.
42, 2 months ago, unsure

51, 4 weeks in. My quality of life (not due to weight loss) has gone up so much, not sure I will want to go back.
33 and yes- or at least a medication similar to it.
64, definitely for life or until another, better option is available.
40+ people are mostly considering this a lifetime endeavor

I started right before I turned 42 and I plan on staying on this as long as possible.

47. Willing to stay on it for life if that's necessary. Happy to stop taking it if I don't need it. We'll see in a year or so!
44, 6 months, and for life. ![gif](giphy|IQh6f7CurN1zq)
Me + Zep 4eva! (Showing my age there lol). Started at 43. IMO, you are BLESSED to have this med while you’re in the prime of your life!!
42, 43 later this summer. Only 6 weeks in. I’ll see what’s going on once I’m “there” and discuss with my doctor.
37.5, finally gave in because of insulin issues and fatty liver. Not sure if it will be for life. Kinda hoping not due to the side effects I get

31, 4 months in, planning to see how I feel once I get to goal, going down in the dose and how my body reacts

57.
56.5 years old and for life, if that's what it takes to keep it off.
28 and once I hit goal I’ll try to maintain with just eating better as I have been and going back to OTF. hoping not to be on it forever. 🤞🏼
started at 33, on it for 5 months now. don't plan on being on it forever. when I hit my goal weight, may take 2.5 for a few months and then come off. Hopefully keeping the weight off for good.

Marry someone with good insurance benefits! lol jk maybe?
I already got my man but unfortunately his insurance is an absolute joke!
I’m 59 and wish this was available when I was in my 35. At 25, unless I weighed over 250lbs and had other health issues, I would not have chosen this route.
50F. I wish I had this when I was younger.
