Buy yourself a charm bracelet and start adding your own charms, I might starting adding to my existing bracelet, I’m motivated by jewelry and stickers!
Or charms to represent NSV! A pair of jeans for dropping a size, an airplane for not needing a seatbelt extender, a camera for when you stop avoiding having your picture taken!
Thanks. We in gen x were obsessed with them, too. But my mom would never let me stick them on anything: apparently, the Great Generation was immune to their charms. Still, I dearly loved my collection.
Omg mine too! And forget about a bumper sticker. NEVER! Hahaha now I’m a grownup and I can stick whatever I want wherever I want it. My car has a bumper sticker, my laptops have them, I have a metal cooler that is a rolling sticker collection 😎
As someone who has traveled both journeys- they are not the same. Let those people have their stars - they’ve earned it. 😂
WLS is no joke and the work to get to goal is VERY different.
Zep is effortless in comparison. I have no regrets about my surgery but I do often wonder had this been available to me would I have gone through with it? Three months ago I would have said yes. Today at 60lbs lost, mmmm, probably not. This is just way too easy. So much easier in comparison.
We can all walk away from Zep when it gets bad but with WLS - you cannot. They literally remove parts of your body. Lasting effects for the rest of your life. It’s a big deal.
I agree with your loved ones. Reward yourself and be proud of your work - you deserve it.
Had WLS in 2003, surgery process was not horrible. Learning how to eat smaller took a while but eventually I lost 105 pounds. That only lasted a year or so, then life took lots of detours - dad died of lung cancer, teenage daughter got pregnant, mom was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer and died a few months later. Oh, and the WLS triggered menopause at 45. Those were hellacious times, no wonder the weight found me again. Over the years it slowly crept up but started creeping up faster when I began working from home. Taking control with Wegovy and Zep feels like the homestretch of the journey and at the end of the race I will win a lifetime supply of Zepbound!!!

I knew there would be a comment like this.... I didn't say they were the same. I'm not discrediting anyone that had WLS. I acknowledge that it's silly and petty. I'm just saying we're on a journey too and I want stars lol.
I understand what you are saying, but agree it is way easier to take the GLP-1. I had a year of work up, some really awful tests and many many appts to get the surgery. I’m glad I did it, but it is hard. I think you should make your own award and congratulations, I don’t want to take away from your accomplishments at all!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
They do not remove any part of your body. They simply reroute a section of your small colon. It’s a bypass surgery. You have a smaller window to absorbing nutrients aka calories.
I’m still mad I no longer get charms or stickers at WW meetings. I still remember how excited we would get when someone would get a new charm. Or there might be a special challenge charm. Oh, the good ole days. ☺️
Oh, my goodness! I felt this one. I agree with some of the other commenters who advised you to reward yourself. I just wanted to add that my therapist has encouraged me to do the same thing (reward myself when I accomplish a challenge). Definitely worth a try!
As far as tangible symbols, the sky's the limit. I usually choose an Etsy seller when I want something personalized, but I have read so many fun ideas lately. Here's the one that stood out to me most.
•Buy cheap dishes, and break one every time you break a new personal record. When you arrive at your final goal, use the pieces to create a mosaic.
Whatever you decide, I hope you celebrate magnificently. (And I hope the doctor took your "not silly rant" to heart.)
That sounds frustrating but also kinda funny! It's understandable you want some recognition for all your hard work. Maybe you could suggest they add a stars program for non-surgical patients too? Either way, congrats on your progress. That's awesome.
Oh my goodness, do you like James Avery Silver jewelry and charms? They started a sale today buy two charms get a free bracelet so if you don’t have one start one!
Reward yourself! There are some really cute charms and jewelry on Etsy for this exact thing. Then it’s also something that’s personal for you. The best validation comes from yourself!
It may be as simple as the keychains are included with the fees they’re charging WLS patients.
My 70+ sister went through surgery today and when she woke up the first thing she asked was where is her gold star sticker.
Note to self: Buy some gold star stickers tomorrow.
Since you can see into the future you might want to tell us how much you are going to lose and how long it will take!

💙💛🤍
My emojis don't have colored stars but I can do hearts (as close to the colors as possible)! I'd send you a Keychain with the colored stars if I could! Congrats on your progress!!!
I have 2 clear glass cylinders and 113 glass jar fillers. One is for my weight total weight loss goal and the other is for how much I’ve lost. So as I’m losing I have a visual of my progress. I just wish I would have done different sizes so they aren’t full pounds. I’m a bit impatient waiting for a full pound 🤣🤣🤣
They make money on me too! Hundreds of dollars once a month from my insurance for a 5 min check up appt where I step on a scale and sit in a chair talking while they write a script. A star probably costs, what, like $5. Star me uppppp.
Call the office manager and let them know you’d really love this. They are probably the ones who set this up (not the doctor) and they’d probably be thrilled to hear that their motivation trick is appreciated and happy to extend it to GLP-1 pts.
Treat yourself. I understand wanting some sort of validation from your doctor, but, as another poster said, wls and taking a shot weekly are two different journeys. I had sleeve surgery 12 years ago. The first six months were hell as far as recovery was concerned. But life, covid, working from home and poor choices had me gaining 1/2 the weight back. My doctor suggested Zepbound to me and I was very hesitant. After much discussion with my doctor and the pharmacist I started taking it. The biggest change I have noticed is the food noise is gone. Which was what I thought having sleeve surgery would help with, but didn’t. I have been overweight my entire life. So buy yourself stars or charms to reward yourself. This journey is about you and you alone.
I know this may sound really weird, but I'm a sticker motivated millennial myself.
Is there anyway you can get yourself some Lisa Frank swag for each of those stars? Individual Keychain, waterbottles, what have you. Just something cool for each percentage of loss that you can have which is tangible even if the doc isn't handing them out.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ For you OP…great job! 😀🎉👏
Thank you!!! 😊 ✨✨✨

Great idea. 10 pounds a watermelon, 75 pounds an emperor penguin etc
Or charms to represent NSV! A pair of jeans for dropping a size, an airplane for not needing a seatbelt extender, a camera for when you stop avoiding having your picture taken!
We need a pinned post/file with these ideas! I want to do this!!
❤️ this idea!
This is an awesome idea! *Opening shopping app...
Love this idea!!
Which charm company has these types of charms?! I’m in!
I want someone to give me something like a prize 😂😂 I make my own bracelets I should add different beads when I hit different milestones!
I love this idea. If you find one let us know!!
I'm a high school teacher, and I can tell you that all generations love stickers hahahah
I teach college, biology labs at a university. I put stickers on their quizzes and tests when they get 100 and they love it!! I'll never stop 😂
I'm 56. Never had stickers or stars in school, but dammit I want them now!
I am 62 and we did for penmanship, ops 63 had a birthday this weekend
Happy Birthday!

As someone who has done both. I agree.

I agree with you. They should come up with a different thing for Zep patients if they want, but you should still get stars!! 😀

Gastric sleeve involves removing 90% of the stomach.
I had the bypass. Didn’t know about the gastric sleeve.

I've got my fingers crossed that they surprise you at your next visit by having that ready for you!
THE DREAM!!! ✨✨✨

Go buy yourself a Tiffany or Pandora bracelet and add charms as you go to signify your journey.
That’s a great idea. I have a bracelet already. Definitely getting a charm when all this is over
That sounds frustrating but also kinda funny! It's understandable you want some recognition for all your hard work. Maybe you could suggest they add a stars program for non-surgical patients too? Either way, congrats on your progress. That's awesome.
I did 😂 I even suggested they change the colors if they wanted it to be different. Thank you 💜
That is so cute and I’m totally blaming this on book-it for why I would want it too.
Oh my goodness, do you like James Avery Silver jewelry and charms? They started a sale today buy two charms get a free bracelet so if you don’t have one start one!
lol it’s not silly I would be advocating for my stars too!! Congrats on your progress
I'm gen x and I would and do want my dang stars! I would have a gold star with everything I have lost!
I’d feel the same exact way, no doubt!! Until he gives you your stars—-> ![gif](giphy|ymFEwrPPbpS7Eq59Si)
You deserve those stars. They’re your stars. You went through a lot to earn them.
Reward yourself! There are some really cute charms and jewelry on Etsy for this exact thing. Then it’s also something that’s personal for you. The best validation comes from yourself! It may be as simple as the keychains are included with the fees they’re charging WLS patients.
Wait we can get sticker stars?? I would have probably lost all the weight by now if someone gave me sticker stars
Omg I love the idea of stickers/bracelet, etc for meeting milestones that would be so cute. 🥰
I love all of these ideas! And I agree. We work hard for stars too!! 🌟
My 70+ sister went through surgery today and when she woke up the first thing she asked was where is her gold star sticker. Note to self: Buy some gold star stickers tomorrow.
He makes very little money on your Zepbound visits. He makes a ton on chopping stomachs. It's all about economics
⭐️🌟💫
Thank you!!! ✨✨✨
If you have a husband or boyfriend I think he should buy you solid gold stars!
No husband or boyfriend OR girlfriend. I've been a member of the 4B movement before I even knew what it was 😂
Since you can see into the future you might want to tell us how much you are going to lose and how long it will take! ![gif](giphy|2A75RyXVzzSI2bx4Gj|downsized)

Omg. I wish these were my problems. I think you’ll be ok. Weight loss is your reward. And life. Be happy you have one.
This is actually a really cute idea. You can do something similar for yourself. Find something on Etsy!
They make more money on surgery … so extras are cost effective for them 🤷🏼♀️
They make money on me too! Hundreds of dollars once a month from my insurance for a 5 min check up appt where I step on a scale and sit in a chair talking while they write a script. A star probably costs, what, like $5. Star me uppppp.
I like you.
You've never shopped for stars lol. A $5 star would be like gold-plated.
I totally understand why you want the keychain. Have you tried asking him?
🌟🌟🌟
Call the office manager and let them know you’d really love this. They are probably the ones who set this up (not the doctor) and they’d probably be thrilled to hear that their motivation trick is appreciated and happy to extend it to GLP-1 pts.
Dammit. Now I want stars! They’re my favorite shape.
