That’s so awesome. Congratulations on the new beautiful skin.

Far-Put7752

Can you please share your skincare routine during and after accutane?

FlatwormDismal4281

Wauw! You’re so pretty

Puzzled-Tea6957

So happy for you ! Because accutane is really strong and not many people can handle it / not many people see results from it. Bless you and best wishes 🙏🏻🙏🏻

rmc_023

you’re so sweet! thank you 💛

Charlotte199231

Beautiful!!!💕

DigDugTooDeep

Worked for me for maybe a year or so after 12 years of painful cystic acne. recently it’s been roaring back hard for no reason and it kind of makes me wanna die. Lol

lockythrowaway

So amazing. Happy for you. Hope mine gets better asap too

lockythrowaway

Avocado-Ok

First time I went on it, I was 28. Hubby had vasectomy. Had to have pg test every month, other blood work before next refill. 2nd time I wanted Accutane, they wanted me to get a birth control implant. I decided not to. It's best to have a doc that is strict about this. My daughter got on it as a teen, and I felt her doctor didn't bloodwork enough.

thecatspajaamas

amaazing!!!

pcn1010

So happy for you! 💗

LongjumpingAd9719

Wow! Great result.

[deleted]

That was so nice!

Useful-Bet9546

Witch hazel works wonders for me

Chipmunkproof

This is insane. Did you have any side effects??

rmc_023

Definitely! My hair was significantly less oily, but the rest of my skin was also super dry (lips, arms, legs). At some point it was so bad you could see the skin peeling off. Any sun exposure would turn my face red so I constantly needed sunscreen. But the worst of the side effects went away after I stopped the medication!

Chipmunkproof

Not too bad. Here it can cause psychological problems in some and issues with night vision.

slovakgnocchi

WOW girl that's like a completely different face. How do you feel???

rmc_023

I feel good most of the time! Don't get me wrong, I still get acne, but it's a lot better. My skin isn't the smoothest but because I know where I was before, I can only be grateful. :)

atpta

has your skin been clear since getting off accutane or did the acne return when you were of the medication? Great results btw, your skin looks great!

rmc_023

Thank you 💛 I definitely still get acne! but it's just here and there, nowhere near as bad as it was before. If you look at my skin closely, you'll also see that my skin isn't super smooth and is slightly red. But it's been 5 years since I started Accutane and for the most part my skin is okay I think! Here's a closeup of my skin from the other day: https://imgur.com/a/eiuxjYc

hiddenmutant

My friend, your skin looks very normal, and very nice. A little red is natural as well as texture!

[deleted]

If this isn’t a sign that I should hop on Accutane then I don’t know what is. Congrats on the progress!

guywithtypewriter

I am a 25 year old guy. I dont have terrible acne. But I get it persistently and consistently. I dont want to even think about acne scar treatment till after ive cleared it all up. I have just been prescribed Acutane and am starting after blood works are all done. I am excited and ready to go through 6 months of pain to get rid of this issue for good. :D

Roselyn5101

How is it going for you? I see you are almost at your 4th month. Are things staying clear? I’m starting soon and am kinda scared..:/

guywithtypewriter

Lips = Dry as the sahara (Mitigated by Aquaphor lip repair) Skin = Dry if not looked after (Cerave cleanser cream and Cerave moisturising sun cream help) Spots = Massive spike first month, got so bad with me 2 lymphnodes in neck / chin area swelled as my "body was convinced it was an infection" according to my derma. Healing = Massively effected, i did not fully understand this issue until after I had started (my fault really for not reading it). I had 2 operations I have to put on hold till it has been 6 months after I finish my treatment. Please keep this in mind before starting. It does not effect day to day though. Nose: Incredibly dry, also use aquaphor, but snot is so nastily dry it causes noses bleeds on occasion and is difficult to get out if I forget to put Aquaphor up there a few times a day. Common colds = hell due to this haha Speaking of... Illness = My immune system has been "shot" (not really, but comparitvely). A cold or 2 a month have been my expereince throughout ( though it was winter so results may vary haha). Best moment was recovering from a cold and immediatly getting covid afterwards haha Fatigue = I cant comment as I "cheat". I am prescribed ADHD meds (Ritalin) and hence my experience of fatigue is skewed as ADHD meds tend to perk you up simmilar to coffee. Regardless, I have felt no fatigue. The important bit? : I have not had a zit for 2 months... my hair has not been greasy for 3 months and overall I feel as if I am on the way out of this. I am confident, with my Derma's confidence, that I might actually finally be permanently acne free by the time I finish this course.

[deleted]

Wait, after taking acutane for 6 months, will your acne essentially be gone forever, or you have to stay on it for it not to come back, im talking about a couple pimples a month

guywithtypewriter

But as a disclaimer it is / will be for me a rough six months. And the side effects are pretty gnarly... I've tried everything else though so screw it haha

guywithtypewriter

As far as I'm aware from my derma, not only will it have like 80% chance of getting rid for pretty much good (apart from the odd pimple every adult gets) it'll actually have a chance of solving underlying problems like oily skin too. :o

rmc_023

wishing you all the best! here’s to clear skin 😁

thanks so much! 💛

Cold-Chip9789

That's amazing! So happy for you!!!

rmc_023

thank you ☺️

rmc_023

Was prescribed accutane in March 2017 for 6 months total. First month I was taking 1 tablet a day (40mg), but the next 5 months I doubled the dosage to 80mg a day. For a 5’3, 110lb girl that is a pretty high dosage I would say…but it worked!

Complex_Interview849

Hi, the results are amazing and i can only imagine how it makes you feel 😊. Just curious, when going through the treatment did you find your skin got worse before it cleared up? i have struggled with it for years but put off having the treatment in fear that i would make it worse

rmc_023

for me, it was a (mostly) uphill journey, but part of that reason was because my skin was already so bad to begin with. Provided that your dermatologist is on board, I would definitely recommend! Good luck if you do start 😊
