GCal reminder tip: When the reminder goes off I go in and reset that reminder for closer to the day/time if I want more than four alerts. It’s annoying but the best workaround I’ve found.

I use the calendar's widgets. One with a monthly calendar where i can see what happens everyday and one under it that says the future events happening in the 3 following days. I see it all the time bc its on my screen so i see it everytime i use the phone. Also every night when im already in bed, i check all my alarms and calendar to make sure im not missing out anything the day after. I hope this helps!

I use an app called Business Calendar 2 Planner that syncs both ways with Google calendar, but it does cost money unless you have Google Play Pass. I like it because it does reminders, task lists, has awesome colors for color coding, and links to BOTH my personal and work emails. I don't use the task lists. However, it appears to sync both ways as well once you set it up. The other great thing about this app is that I have it automatically add reminders for every single appointment. I can change them or add more if I want, but this eliminates the extra thought required to remember. I just tested and I can add at least 5 reminders. You can add reminders for tasks too, which is pretty cool. It's cumbersome to set up, but once it's done, it essentially runs itself. It's really worth it! At one point, I linked my Google calendar to Alexa so Alexa would yell at me an hour before I needed to go anywhere. It would even tell the empty kitchen about my appointments when I wasn't home lol. It got disabled when Alexa needed a reboot and I didn't set it up again. I do set multiple alarms through Alexa to remind me to get ready and leave for appointments that I tend to dawdle on. Additionally, I do actually use a bullet journal. I update it every night and check it throughout the day. While I love my phone, something about physically writing down the appointments helps me remember better. I have at mostly full-time office job, part time office job, study for actuarial exams, sing professionally, drive my parents to appointments, have a bunch of medical appointments for myself, and not to mention household and pet stuff to deal with. I manage a lot! The app and my bujo are key to this or I would never make it anywhere on time. I am the epitome of "but, you see, I have a system."

How do you feel about planners? I check my work calendar every Sunday night/Monday morning and write down my schedule. whenever I have an appointment or need to step away from my work desk, I double check my meetings on the calendar just to make sure nothing new has been added. I also have an accommodation listed that whenever possible, I need to be made aware of meetings the workday prior. If a meeting is added on short notice, I need to be alerted via slack. (If you aren’t using a planner and would like to start one, let me know. I can share a pdf of the planner spread I made for myself! You’d need a printer, hole punch, and appropriate size binder, but I can get you a shopping list to help out. Using a physical planner has done wonders for me, so if you think it might work for you, let me know!)
