You’re supposed to file the claim before you leave the airport. I don’t know the brand, but if it’s brand new many usually do have guarantees for the first year - at least more expensive ones like Tumi. I’ve legit just brought them back a suitcase with the wheels missing and since it was within a year they just replaced it for me lol.

I am still at the top part where she didn't have anything packed in a carry on You can submit a claim for the items that you had to purchase while waiting for your luggage. Apparently in your case that is only a swimsuit. If you have receipts, you will receive a check. You can also file a claim on the suitcase by submitting a picture online. You will likely receive a check if you provide the receipt else they will offer a new one.
