What about today?
Any idea why AA552 from ORD to EWR got delayed so much that the 6:44 pm flight now departs at 11 pm and arrives in EWR after 2 am? That’s over 4 hours late and reaches EWR at a very inconvenient time.
The aircraft is at the gate; so it’s not that. Doesn’t seem like there is bad weather in Chicago or NYC area or in between, but asking since I am not an expert in that. Crew not arrived? Mechanical issues with the aircraft?
United has been flying fine today on that route when I last checked.
I really wish American Airlines’ app indicated the reason for the delay (or cancellation).
EWR has a staffing issue so there’s a traffic program in place. Delays are over 3 hours now from the FAA notification.
There’s weather EWR/LGA/JFK was hammered yesterday. And recovery is always slow when planes and aircraft are displaced

ATC delay Edited to add that the delay was 4.5 hrs.
