It's so sad š the end, whenever the girl thinks of him, that scene when someone offered to hold her hand so she doesn't slip and all she can do is pause and be heart broken that she will never experience this with him... Oh my heart.
This is my favorite first date movie. If they come back for a second date it's Requiem for a Dream. They show up again I marry them instantly. Soo..... I've been single for a long time.
Might not be what you're looking for, but imo it fits. Frieren Beyond Journey's End kicked my heart right in the nuts. I've never actually cried from a show since I usually have the emotional range of a brick wall, but this one definitely made me tear up a few times. It has some action, but I see Made in Abyss on your list, so that might be welcome. It also has the best animation of any Anime I've ever watched (excluding movies).
Trust me when I say, it's one of those shows where the hype is 95% accurate. It is the first time I've ever watched anime where I find myself replaying scenes just so I can focus solely on the animation the 2nd time around, instead of splitting my attention 50/50 with the dialogue.
not to dismiss the guy's recommendation, because frankly, frieren might be one of the best animes to come out in a long time and you should absolutely watch it, but i personally wouldnt go in with the expectation to ugly cry. its more a bittersweet/somber feel than a cry-your-heart-out show.
Yeah lol. The show is more wholesome/comedy more than anything. I wouldn't say it's going to make you ugly cry.
Still it's one of the best shows out there and I 100% recommend it.
My favorite anime thatās made me cry is Plastic Memories. Itās about a guy and an android girl working for an android retrieval company as they both learn to appreciate making memories and the joy of living. Itās the embodiment of ādonāt cry because itās over, smile because it happenedā. Youāll probably figure out how the shows going to go but itās still great
There needs to be a bigger dogpile on this. āPlastic Memoriesā is genius. I still feel the heartbreak, and yet the way it ends is so profound, so bittersweet-but-hopeful. It is a deeply, deeply affecting story. Highly recommended.
Have you seen [SukaSuka](https://myanimelist.net/anime/33502/Shuumatsu_Nani_Shitemasu_ka_Isogashii_desu_ka_Sukutte_Moratte_Ii_desu_ka)? That'd be my recommendation.
To Your Eternity put me in a universe where your only 2 emotions are "depressed" and "ugly cry". You might wanna try that one out. Season 2 wasn't bad, but didn't pack the punch of season 1
I watched it again a long time after breakup, and it came off feeling more like a warning against pining for someone who is no longer there.
Still cried tho
I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but after watching Angel Beats years ago in high school I [Angel Beats spoilers] >!became an organ donor as soon as I got my driver's license. It's one of the few anime that had a massive impact on me to actually cause me to do something.!<
That one time when the ed is reversed to show all the members disappearing instead of appearing one by one after THAT episode just broke the dam of tears for me. I was sobbing and crying so loud suddenly that I my parents had rushed in my room out of concern lol.
Was a 14 year old teen at that time.
Now and Then, Here and There is less of an ugly cry and more of a crippling depression, it's just utterly bleak and devoid of hope and doesn't even give you the release of being able to cry about it.
Do not look up anything about Madoka Magica.
It's one of those shows that works best if you go in blind.
I also don't think it's really an "ugly cry" anime, but you should still very much watch it.
The less you know going in, the better.
Watch at least three episodes, and I'm not saying that because of the "three episode rule".
It is also hands down some of the best looking animation of its era.
One of the games endings actually made me realize the value of our life to the ones we care about. It's dark but it's doesn't stay in just that, there's many many many lessons to learn from that world.
You should defo check this one out! It's about a girl that sends letters to herself from the future in hopes of changing the life of one of their friends. I also recommend "a Lull in the sea". This one goes off saying back then everyone used to live in the ocean until some people decided to move to the surface which upset the sea God. There is a better synapsis out there somewhere, but based on your viewed anime list i think you might enjoy that one as well. There are a couple of good recommendations on here but orange is def up there on my list
That one annoyed me because the entire time the friend feels like an outsider in the group, and halfway through, I realized he literally is an outsider. They may care for him, but they definitely treat him differently, even if it's because of the circumstances.
Watched already! It was quite good but I didn't love it because I didnt feel like I could really connect to the characters. I had also just watched blue spring ride before it and related to parts of it and it had reallly really hit so I was looking for something to top that.
I remember watching it the first time and even though i was kind of bored by episode three - I continued on because of the high ratings, then suddenly it got VERY intense very quickly and i couldnāt stop. Really happy i trusted the reviews
I donāt know you, but Given broke me. My whole body ached it was so painful I though I was going to die. In a way I wished I died so i wouldnāt have to endure the pain. I donāt know if itās because Itās very relatable to me. Anyway It was the first and the last time I saw it.
was just about to comment this. saw a clip of it on YouTube that made me cry like a baby even though I hadn't watched the show yet. it's even sadder with context. given is a heavy hitter for me personally.
Oh man...here's list of anime that made me cry, and that's hard for me..
- Maquia
- 91 Days
- Banana Fish
- Angel Beats
- Terror in Resonance
- To Your Eternity
- Wolf Children
Hope this helped!
I can second Angel Beats and To Your Eternity. I canāt even finish watching To Your Eternity becauseā¦ Iām not in the mood to cry? (If that makes sense)ā¦ stopped after jar head. So so so good though. That is a really well done series and I do want to watch moreā¦ I just know Iāll be in the feels.
I feel the same! I cried after the first episode (which was a first for me) and I only made it to episode 6 but I wanted to wait for more episodes...then couldn't get back into it because I saw spoilers and I didn't want to spend the night crying. š
Nothing will ever make me cry like Clannad After Story again. I thought Your Lie in April and A Silent Voice was sad, oh i was wrong. Everything pales in comparison to Clannad
Gurren Lagann for me. I ugly cried for half an hour.
Hunter x Hunter is the most emotional Iāve ever gotten over fiction.
Edit: Iām being downvoted lol
Oshi No Ko is a bit slow at times but there's a few moments (especially one that made me cry harder than I thought I possibly could) that get me emotional af.
Elfen Lied is unequivically the most depressing and emotionally poweful anime I've ever seen, and I've been watching anime for 27 years.
Being totally honest, that anime left emotional wounds that never really healed.
And the film - 2019 sequel / that was a gut punch : _Rascal does not dream of a dreaming girl_ā¦
I havenāt seen the latest _Rascal does not dream of a sister venturing out_ but Iām gonna guess that it will hit ya in the feels, too.
Idk why people haven't mentioned Vinland Saga Season 2 but that made me ugly cry like I've never ugly cried before. No tv show or movie in the history of mankind made me break down the way Vinland Saga did when they introduce Gardar into the show. I know the show got a ton of hate due to Season 2 having a much slower pace than the first season but for those who fought through it, they all realized what a true masterpiece the show was. The second season was a PURE MASTERPIECE. I'll say it a trillion more times for those who disagree. Anyway, that made me ugly cry. I don't know if it's because I have a son and me picturing myself in someone elses shoes when it comes to kids made me break down but something hit me extremely hard and I could not stop BAWLING my eyes out (I have proof if you wanna see my ugly cry face). It was brutal. The character development, the artwork, the flow of each episode, the struggles of being a slave, battling internal demons, the regrets of war, killing, revenge, etc. all packaged into a phenomenal plot of people just wanting freedom... and the lengths they'll go just to be with their loved ones. Watch it please. Even if it doesn't make you ugly cry, at least give it a chance. šš½
It's funny you say that because my mom would NEVER watch anime in a million years. After I finished that episode, I was on the phone with my mom the next day just having a casual conversation. Sometimes we bring up shows and movies we're watching and I felt so compelled to tell her about Vinland Saga even though I KNEW she wouldn't give 1 single fuck. Like, it's so good that you have no other choice but to want to tell other people to watch it. At least that's how I felt.
I literally want everyone to watch Season 2 because of how good it is IMO lol but it goes to show you... someone who wouldn't cry over fiction, crying over that specific moment is like a testament to how great the show truly is.
Suzume just dropped on Crunchyroll; I plan to watch it tonight. I have it on good authority that it's one hell of a tearjerker.
The shows I've ugly-cried at are Link Click, Sagrada Reset, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, Natsume Yuujinchou, and one specific episode of Noragami.
Rewatch Koe no Katachi after you have become proficient at sign language. It doesn't matter which country's sign language you learn, but the anime hits ten times harder than most people realise.
Elfen Lied, man... That anime just... I watched it the first time 14 years ago and it *still* weighs on my soul.
That last episode, fuck me dude, It had me more than just ugly crying, it legit changed who I was.
I didnt even know an anime could do that before watching EL.
Rurouni Kenshin Seisouhen made my chest hurt after falling in love with the main series and characters.
5cm Per Second is extremely sad if you have a one that got away.
Angel beats got me overall pretty good.
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai, movie after the first season.
and lastly, charlotte. ending got me good
Grave of the Fireflies.
Texhnolyze. This series SCREAMS "despair"
The ending is just... wow.
Neon Genesis Evangelion followed by The End of Evanglion. The ending of the series was enough but what Anno-san did to the characters in EoE is... gut wrenching.
Sorry to be that guy, but the mangas of Girls last tour and Land of the lustrous are both beautiful and soul crushing (If you don't feel like taking manga recommendations feel free to ignore ofc.) They both have very good anime adaptations that you can watch to get invested, but for both series the real sad stuff mostly only happens after the anime. For Girl's last tour it's mainly the final few chapters plus a few chapters here and there, and for Land of the lustrous it just gets consistently more painful the further you get
Orange.
It's a lot, especially if you've dealt with suicide in any way. Even if you haven't it's a bit of a hard watch. There's a timey wimey aspect to it, but I personally just consider it a metaphor for the theme of the show.
I'm a guy, and Space Battleship yamato 2199 made me cry. I highly recommend it may not be to your taste as it is a Space Opera romance and sci-fi thrill, but the ending man it was good
Iāll just name a couple that I havenāt seen in the comments yet (one of them will probably get me killed in this sub):
- Nagi-Asu: A lull in the sea
- Darling in the Franx (I know I know, I enjoyed it and the last episodes made me cry a lot, what can I say)
- Rainbow, which is honestly one of the best overall anime I saw, definitely has multiple instances that will make you cry
Elfen Lied. This one is more than just sad and depressing, it's emotionally destructive. It's more than just ugly cry, it's one of those experiences that can hit you hard enough to change a part of who you are.
It's one thing for an anime to be sad and tragic, it's another to be soul crushingly depressing.
I highly suggest the dub. The dub is incredibly good and the performances by some of the VAs are a step above the original.
It hits HARD.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 was the only anime that made me cry like a little baby (10 years ago). The story really resonated with me, considering I've experienced an earthquake disaster where thousands of people died, but even if you haven't, I think the ending of that anime would still be impactful.
Theres a lot of sad studio ghibli, but if you can find them, a series called 'Erased' is very deep and sad, and the films of 'Your Voice' and 'Your Name' are quiet sad too
Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms and josee the tiger and the fish. I would also suggest watching a japanese movie called the Last 10 Years.
Was wondering how far I'd have to scroll for Maquia. Such a great movie.
Went into maquia blind and was absolutely gutted š
Absolutely obliterated
more people need to watch maquia
I clicked just to say Maquia. More must know of this movie
This movie made me call my mom with tears in my eyes. Really powerful
I have josee on my list right now! The other two, never heard of will make note. Thank you soosos muchh
Maquia is one of my most favorite anime movies. It's such a good movie that had me in the deep abyss for days. Highly recommended!
Maquia could have visited her boi once every 5 years or so at least.
Sangatsu no Lion Plastic Memories Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms Grave of the Fireflies
Fellow sangatsu no lion lover(ā ć„ā ļ½”ā āā āæā āæā āā ļ½”ā )ā ć„
I need season 3 so badddd
\+1 on Sangatsu no Lion , long but worth it and makes u want more
Grave of the Fireflies just made me mad
Iroduku: The World in Colors This one has a real bittersweet ending. Made me bawl
Pleasantly surprised to see this mentioned. I went in with no idea what to expect and was quite happy with the result. Ending was indeed bittersweet
I know some people found it a little boring, but I thought it did the characters justice and it's easily one of the most gorgeous looking anime ever.
So glad someone mentioned this, beautiful story and great visuals.
Good show with beautiful art. If only it has a few more episodes to flesh out the characters more.
Hotarubi no Mori e Itās a mini movie, about 45 mins iirc
Watched it, BALLED AT THE END- It was so sad.
It really is so sad š broke my heart
Never in my life had I wanted to beat the living shit out of a fictional anime kid
It's so sad š the end, whenever the girl thinks of him, that scene when someone offered to hold her hand so she doesn't slip and all she can do is pause and be heart broken that she will never experience this with him... Oh my heart.
Have you seen Grave of the Fireflies?
This is my favorite first date movie. If they come back for a second date it's Requiem for a Dream. They show up again I marry them instantly. Soo..... I've been single for a long time.
I can't take requiem seriously now cause my husband at the end said "Ok one of these people is just making mashed potatoes"
Hahaha. Makes me wanna go watch it again!!
aw dang T0T their loss honestly grave is amazing
This is the greatest movie I never want to see again.
yepp- god it hurt my heart T0T
Still got some trauma and depression just thinking about it, so no
this is easily the saddest movie iāve ever seen
This one is too depressing for me, just hurts the whole time and days after. I like to cry, but not emotionally damaged š¤£
Might not be what you're looking for, but imo it fits. Frieren Beyond Journey's End kicked my heart right in the nuts. I've never actually cried from a show since I usually have the emotional range of a brick wall, but this one definitely made me tear up a few times. This is great cause I was just gonna start it- heard a lottaa hype
Trust me when I say, it's one of those shows where the hype is 95% accurate. It is the first time I've ever watched anime where I find myself replaying scenes just so I can focus solely on the animation the 2nd time around, instead of splitting my attention 50/50 with the dialogue.

Yeah lol. The show is more wholesome/comedy more than anything. I wouldn't say it's going to make you ugly cry. Still it's one of the best shows out there and I 100% recommend it.
Itās so good!
Just watched 3 eps of it tonight and ya already got teary eyed a couple times.
It's not even concluded, and I agree. It's great anime.
My favorite anime thatās made me cry is Plastic Memories. Itās about a guy and an android girl working for an android retrieval company as they both learn to appreciate making memories and the joy of living. Itās the embodiment of ādonāt cry because itās over, smile because it happenedā. Youāll probably figure out how the shows going to go but itās still great
This show is criminally underrated. So happy to see someone recommend it.
Oh I've heard of this one! Will definitely try, tysmm
There needs to be a bigger dogpile on this. āPlastic Memoriesā is genius. I still feel the heartbreak, and yet the way it ends is so profound, so bittersweet-but-hopeful. It is a deeply, deeply affecting story. Highly recommended.
Plastic Memories could make a stone cry.
I tried to binge-watch this one, but I couldn't do it because I was crying so much, that my eyes hurt.
One of the very few anime along with To Your Eternity that will make you cry in the very first episode.
Plastic memories fucking destroyed me!
Seconded. My favorite sad anime oat.
I call that show "Sad Boi Hour" because it just left me so sad after each episode
Right! I mean I got hit in the feels hard!!!!!
SAMEE- s2 was good but a little disappointing after what I felt with s1 tho
Air (TV) Kanon Ef melodies/memories
Air is so underrated. I love it so much.
>Ef melodies/memories is possibly the saddest story of them all.
EF tale of memories is such a hidden masterpiece!!!! Such a random yet unforgettable find.
\[ef tale of memories\] >!That telephone voice mail scene, still haunting to this day.!<
Probably wonāt make you ugly cry but watching 5 cm/sec after going through a break up was *the worst decision* I could have made at the time
When I want to be sad with music I just play "One more time, One more chance" and sing it with all my heart. God! That song is just beautifully sad!
I watched it again a long time after breakup, and it came off feeling more like a warning against pining for someone who is no longer there. Still cried tho
Assassination Classroom made my wife and daughter ugly cry. Maybe that could be one? It's pretty unassuming.
Saaaaame, that one damn scene
Angel Beats. The tears don't start until about halfway through the series.
I watched Angel Beats when it was airing and I still tear up just when the names is mentioned.
I hear the intro piano everytime
That's the worst part about angel beats... You start to forget what you're watching, oh this shits so wholesome! Oh, oh wait no
Haha he was caught by his own traps. What a moron Disabled girl: "Who would ever marry me?"
Imma be real, the last episode really got me but everything leading up was pretty meh
had to scroll down to look for this. angel beats is amazing
Nana
I second this.
Madoka Magica, SukaSuka, and SaiKano. If you need the hard stuff Now and Then, Here and There. You will not thank me.
Now and Then, Here and There is less of an ugly cry and more of a crippling depression, it's just utterly bleak and devoid of hope and doesn't even give you the release of being able to cry about it.
I don't think Madoka Magica is really an "ugly cry" anime. It's definitely something OP should watch, but not really that kind of thing.
I have never heard of most of these woah okay will put them on the list
Do not look up anything about Madoka Magica. It's one of those shows that works best if you go in blind. I also don't think it's really an "ugly cry" anime, but you should still very much watch it. The less you know going in, the better. Watch at least three episodes, and I'm not saying that because of the "three episode rule". It is also hands down some of the best looking animation of its era.
SaiKano is on the older side but all of them hold up for misery.
> Now and Then, Here and There. This broke me when I watched it as a teenager.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Night City always wins.
Eh, I wouldn't say it would make you ugly cry. It will definitely give you some existential dread.
Yea, cyberpunk made me more so sad and hopeless, rather than "ugly cry". But the music in the end does hit, so can't blame em tbf.
One of the games endings actually made me realize the value of our life to the ones we care about. It's dark but it's doesn't stay in just that, there's many many many lessons to learn from that world.
Charlotte, an anime made by the same guy that made clannad and angel beats
Really? I thought it was quite good and somewhat bittersweet, didnāt make me cry as such
Orange!

ahhh ok!! you watched so many of the tear jerkersā¦ time for kdramas? haha
seconding this! it's so good.
Steins;Gate It's got several scenes that will give you what you want.
There was this scene with the fat guy that made me cry so much. It was so unexpected.
I remember watching it the first time and even though i was kind of bored by episode three - I continued on because of the high ratings, then suddenly it got VERY intense very quickly and i couldnāt stop. Really happy i trusted the reviews
Itās just a movie but I did for āHotarubi no mori eā
Done! Cried. Hard.
Yay! Once as the teacher in charge of an anime club I showed it to my students - they loved and hated me for it :)
Little Busters.
3-gatsu no Lion is definitely a good show. Theres a particular moment in the second season that gets me every single time I rewatch it.
Oh man...here's list of anime that made me cry, and that's hard for me.. - Maquia - 91 Days - Banana Fish - Angel Beats - Terror in Resonance - To Your Eternity - Wolf Children Hope this helped!
Banana fish fucking got me good. It's such a good anime, and I always want to re-watch, but then I'm like "nah, I ain't crying today" lol

I really wanna watch banana fish but have put it off for agggess, not sure why. think i should finally get on it
OP come here , this the comment!
I second wolf children, God so unexpectedly great, so many tears...
with banana fish i think i cried at the end of each episode LOL
Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms
Nothing will ever make me cry like Clannad After Story again. I thought Your Lie in April and A Silent Voice was sad, oh i was wrong. Everything pales in comparison to Clannad
Welcome NHK , i saw it in a low point my life and it was a anime that made me ugly cry.
Frieirin is airing right now. Which I totally misspelled but can't remember where the h goes
Ride your wave and maquia
Ride Your Waveā¦ this will make you cry.
Erased, a time travel / murder mystery story with dark themes. One of the story threads involving a certain character got me crying buckets.
Can't believe I had to scroll so long for this one. Amazing show, hits you in all the feels.
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES, IVE REWATCHED IT ATLEASTT 5 TIMES. ITS AMAZING, I CRIED 10/10
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Canāt believe I had to scroll this far to get to this! This made me ugly cry
Attack on Titan, maybe Banana fish, definitely
Gurren Lagann for me. I ugly cried for half an hour. Hunter x Hunter is the most emotional Iāve ever gotten over fiction. Edit: Iām being downvoted lol
I really cried at Gurren Lagann.
Thatās what Iām saying. Itās not a traditional tearjerker, but it hits you harder than stuff like Your Lie in April in my opinion.
Gurren lagann will check out, HxH seen and that was the most emotional you've gotten??? with HxH?
Meruem and Komugi at the end of Chimera Ant arc hit me like nothing else.
Oshi No Ko is a bit slow at times but there's a few moments (especially one that made me cry harder than I thought I possibly could) that get me emotional af.
Grave of the Fireflies. Barefoot Gen Now and then, Here and there. Elfen Leid has some pretty dark, sad moments too.
Elfen Lied is unequivically the most depressing and emotionally poweful anime I've ever seen, and I've been watching anime for 27 years. Being totally honest, that anime left emotional wounds that never really healed.
Now and then, here and there- never heard of it sounds hella interesting
Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai. Hear me out, this title might sound weird but itās good.

watched it! THE MOVIE HITTT

I don't think I've ever seen my fiancƩ cry over fiction ever. Watched Vinland Saga and all the second season floored him, like a constant stream of tears once Gardar showed up. Obviously I also cried (and also at every episode before and after...) but seeing him react that way set it very high up on my recommendation list.
It's funny you say that because my mom would NEVER watch anime in a million years. After I finished that episode, I was on the phone with my mom the next day just having a casual conversation. Somali and the forest spirit
**Maquia** is an absolutely soul crushing anime movie. One of the ones that made me stop properly functioning for like a good 2 days.
banana fish.
Maquia: When the promised flower blooms
Rascal does not dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Series) & Rascal does not dream of a Dreaming Girl (Movie)
Toradora maybe.
that was more cute and comedic than sad and sob worthy. even though the ending did give a little ouchie
Saw it in theaters and it's fantastic. Makoto Shinkai doesn't miss
I have seen everything else of his, and loved every single one.
Tried watching it last night but the subs are all out of sync.
Assassination Classroom. youāll never see it coming and then it hits you like a truck
I'm putting Plastic Memories (13 eps) and Clannad (2 seasons 24 eps each) in the hat
Rewatch Koe no Katachi after you have become proficient at sign language. It doesn't matter which country's sign language you learn, but the anime hits ten times harder than most people realise.
Ones that did it for me: Banana Fish Devilman Crybaby Journey to the end of the world (more happy crying than sad crying) Death parade
In This Corner of the World
My Happy Marriage
I thought bunny girl senpai had quite a few tear jerker moments.
definitely! especially the movie
Frieren and Oshi no ko have some pretty sad episodes that you might like
Elfen Lied Death Parade Orange Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Elfen Lied, man... That anime just... I watched it the first time 14 years ago and it *still* weighs on my soul. That last episode, fuck me dude, It had me more than just ugly crying, it legit changed who I was. I didnt even know an anime could do that before watching EL.
One Piece has a fair few ugly cry episodes but there's so many other episodes so those dozen are like 0.1% of the whole series aha
Rurouni Kenshin Seisouhen made my chest hurt after falling in love with the main series and characters. 5cm Per Second is extremely sad if you have a one that got away.
Will check that out 5cm hurt like fucking hell. I loved it, and I cried super hard.
Angel beats got me overall pretty good. Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai, movie after the first season. and lastly, charlotte. ending got me good
Plastic Memories Devilman Crybaby
Kino's journey can be considered sad
Angel Beats
CODE GEASS: LELOUCH OF THE REBELLION
Frieren - airs tonight, catch up and weep a bit.
Dude you can't just prescribe an entire season of Frieren like that. They're gonna overdose
Vampire in the Garden - on Netflix, only anime that has ever legit made me cry
Grave of the Fireflies. Texhnolyze. This series SCREAMS "despair" The ending is just... wow. Neon Genesis Evangelion followed by The End of Evanglion. The ending of the series was enough but what Anno-san did to the characters in EoE is... gut wrenching.
Devilman Crybaby
* The Garden of Words * The Day I Became a God * Grave of the Fireflies * Hotarubi no Mori e * Kotaro Lives Alone * Wolf Children
Definitely cried, then laughed, then cried again multiple times per episode while watching Kotaro Lives Alone.
Orange, or A Silent Voice if you want a movie.
now and then, here and there. Strap in.
FRUITS BASKET
Sorry to be that guy, but the mangas of Girls last tour and Land of the lustrous are both beautiful and soul crushing (If you don't feel like taking manga recommendations feel free to ignore ofc.) They both have very good anime adaptations that you can watch to get invested, but for both series the real sad stuff mostly only happens after the anime. For Girl's last tour it's mainly the final few chapters plus a few chapters here and there, and for Land of the lustrous it just gets consistently more painful the further you get
Now and then Here and and there
The fuck is "I wanna eat your pancreas" all about???
I highly recommend it may not be to your taste as it is a Space Opera romance and sci-fi thrill, but the ending man it was good
Iāll just name a couple that I havenāt seen in the comments yet (one of them will probably get me killed in this sub): - Nagi-Asu: A lull in the sea - Darling in the Franx (I know I know, I enjoyed it and the last episodes made me cry a lot, what can I say) - Rainbow, which is honestly one of the best overall anime I saw, definitely has multiple instances that will make you cry
Re:Zero Starting another life. It has some good moments. Also good anime in general.
Recently saw Suzume. also made by Makoto Shinkai, his latest directed film. absolutely made me cry, loved the plot. rlly recommend watching it
She and Her Cat: Everything Flows If you have a cat, and especially if you are a young adult finding your way.
One Piece always makes me ugly cry. šš
The first 3/4 episodes of To Your Eternity is enough to make a grown man cry
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 was the only anime that made me cry like a little baby (10 years ago). The story really resonated with me, considering I've experienced an earthquake disaster where thousands of people died, but even if you haven't, I think the ending of that anime would still be impactful.
Iād recommend Orange if you havenāt seen it already.
Suzume made me cry like a baby at the end
Theres a lot of sad studio ghibli, but if you can find them, a series called 'Erased' is very deep and sad, and the films of 'Your Voice' and 'Your Name' are quiet sad too
