Ok. I just started high score girl last night. Itās adorable. Iām only 2 episodes in
I also saw kotaro lives alone. Seems like an interesting premise.
This is an... Odd post, right? So he's too young for Naruto but OP thinks he might be old enough for stuff like Vinland Saga? Whether he's not sensitive to it or not ain't the point dude. You definitely shouldn't be showing that to a 10-year-old.
Well yeah while what u said is true but in my own experience children are not as immature as ppl think while yes imo vinland saga might be too dark for 10 yo but i'll still recommend something like death note when he becomes 12 or something. My sister also watched it at that age and its ok. Though again vinland saga might be too much especially for a 10yo. Also naruto is a pretty good anime for a 12 yo. The thing is there are very few anime specifically for ages 10 imo. The op's brother is just too young for most anime period. Also if you read it they say he is a horror fan and has watched horror stuff. Now i dunno about u but a 10 yo watching horror anime or movies is a bit much.
Yeah exactly. Death Note and Naruto are perfectly fine at 12 I think. If at 13 or 14 and my son was watching Vinland Saga, I wouldn't bat an eye, just think he's going through an edgy phase of puberty.
But 10?? Yeah, no way.
while i agree , in general the level of violence might be inappropriate for that age, i think the message is a good one and an age apocopate, so if watch with an older person / adult to add context , i think it could be fine . they might lose interest in season 2 , lol
edit for really bad spelling
Hard disagree. No way I'm letting my own son watch Vinland Saga at ten, even supervised. Thirteen, fourteen, sure - they might just see it as an edgy show.
Vinland Saga sends the *worst* kind of message to a kid that age. Are you insane? Sure he *eventually* learns that he has no enemies and the path of vengeance is wrong and so on, but it's a full season of him being a brutal murder machine before that happens.
Season 2 sees him course-correct after seeing the error of his ways, sure. You know what the average 10-year-old is gonna think of Season 2? "Huh? Where's the action? I'm bored, dropping this now." You even said it yourself.
See, its less of a he's too young for sexy jutsu, its just we are watching anime in the family room on a 55" tv. Plus naruto has way more fan service upfront that one piece. The character designs are sexual, sure, but its not as bad atleast in the beginning. By the time he gets to time skip when it starts going a lot harder on it, he will be a little older. Naruto is just way more blatant than one piece. Also, the naruto anime is like 1/4th filler, so id rather just have him read the manga.
He's totally mentally able to comprehend stuff like vinland saga. And again, he likes horror, so he's seen a lot worse when it comes to violence.
I could see some parents having issues with some of the more violent scenes. But I, personally with zero kids to my name, would say itās well worth it for opportunity to get them hooked on science early on.
Dr. Stone gets me as jazzed about science as Bill Nye the Science Guy, Neil deGrasse Tyson, or that zany Texas A&M physics professor (Tatiana Erukhimova for those curious)
Ahh, frrr. My sister makes a point of not watching any animes... Although, she did watch the first season of Demon Slayer and kinda enjoyed it. Refused to admit it tho--
Yes I think they just feel its wierd or whatever because of stereotypes so theyre afraid to like it/try it, my sister watched like 1 episode of AOT and said its so bad... like bro u havent even started watchingš
Yeah, it also sucks that when they do sometimes watch it, fan service would just come up out of nowhere. So now, my sibling has this whole idea that anime is for weirdos---
I don't like fan service, but I was watching One Piece, so like, kinda hard to get past it--
Honestly, show him some Gundam stuff, I mean iron blooded orphans and Gundam 00 are very good and one of them is more bloody and the other one more political which is inevitable in Gundam but ykwim
Came here to say both of these. Very power of friendship (black clover more so). The ONLY suggestive themes would be 2-3 characters wearing some suggestive outfit butā¦ thereās not really a show that doesnāt do that. Even back in the day.. weād be ogling favorite characters as a kid.
>Came here to say both of these. Very power of friendship
I saw people who reccomended op Berserk or Highschool of the dead but thats not somthing a 10 year old should watch imo. These felt more safe
I don't know about My Hero Academia. If OP doesn't want an anime series with sexual innuendo, then they are really going to have a problem with Mineta and Midnight. Although, if they are bothered by sexual innuendo then why are they letting their kid watch One Piece is beyond me.
>I don't know about My Hero Academia. If OP doesn't want an anime series with sexual innuendo, then they are really going to have a problem with Mineta and Midnight.
True enough but op will have a problem finding shows without fanservice
>Not to mention some of the really messed up stuff later in the series.
Op said that the kid was fine with horror and i rather reccomend My hero academia then somthing like Beserk
Sexy Jutsu is pretty tame compared to most ecchi, and I was 10 when I first watched Naruto. A lot of Shounen Jump is gonna be your best bet, Pokemon, Yugioh, and Bakugan were also Saturday Morning staples for me
Noragami - action comedy with a bit of drama and it has ghostlike monsters (ayakashi), fanservice very tame: there's one lady in a bikini riding a flying lion and that's it. [Here's a trailer.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQnnwUXd_0U)
While itās not out yet Delicious in Dungeon is an upcoming show thatās perfect for younger audiences.
While not anime also consider Toku shows like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai!
Iāve got an 11 year old myself whoās into manga and anime so I know the woes of wanting to show them stuff but there being so many good series that are hard nos because of lewd shit.
Other stuff Iāve let my daughter watch/read that she really enjoyed:
- Blue Lock
- Spy X Family
- Girls Last Tour
- Komi Canāt Communicate ( though that one stalker girl is kinda borderline)
- Ranger Reject
- Full Metal Alchemist
- Silver Spoon
Big-O
Cowboy Bebop
Yuyu Hakusho
Ruroni Kenshin
DragonBall and DragonBall Z
Any of the Gundam shows
Jojo's bizarre adventure
Yugioh
Any of the pokemon series
Digimon
Demon Slayer would probably be a good mixture of horror and shonen tropes fit for a 10yo, without any sexual themes (apart from the occasional fan service-sized pair of boobs)

There's Kon and Keigo in the first part for perviness, some fanservice with Yoruichi in the SS arc, and if Sexy Jutsu is too much for OP, he probably wouldn't like a lot of Bleach's outfits lol.
Dinosaur king, I second. Before I left my girl watch naruto (its rated PG btw) she watched the whole of the pokemon orignsl series, yugioh then dinosaur king (it has the same cast as OG pokemon)
My neighbour totoro, haikyu, my hero academia (not the recent series its quite dark), fairy tale (bit touch and go for the "sexy" stuff but I also watched this with my daughter and she loved it), spirited away, howls moving castle, ponyo, avatar the last air bended (technically not an anime but a great show), digimon...
If I think of more I'll come back
i mean as far as Naruto goes, it originally aired on cartoon network and is mostly y7. i watched the broadcast and dubbed version so i dont know if theres a version that is more revealing but i didnt find that show inappropiate to watch in front of my really conservative Babtist foster mom . lol
as far as the shows with the least sexual content at all that would appeal to that age . most battle shone =n are perfect. FMA brotherhood. attack on titan, HXH wil get you pretty far
I wish I watched around that age "Uninhabited Planet Survive!" / "Mujin Wakusei Survive". It would be my favorite.
It's a truly children's TV series, but it has surprisingly strong story plot.
Hikaru no Go is a great one
Megalobox Season 1 might be good for him, but I don't think Season 2 would be appropriate for a 10 year old.
If you're open to movies, there's a bunch of Ghibli films that are good for that age: Castle in the Sky, NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away, Ponyo, The Secret World of Arrietty, and many others. Just steer clear of Grave of the Fireflies (and maybe Only Yesterday, The Wind Rises, and Princess Mononoke) until he's older.
Depending on your ability to watch older anime that aren't on streaming services, Treasure Island and Future Boy Conan are also quite good.
Mob Psycho is a good one though he won't understand it's social themes
School babysitter is also a good light hearted slice of life and if you want an anime free of fan service than romcom/slice of life would be your best bet
kaitou joker!!! i enjoyed it so much despite it being aimed at preteen boys. it's a bit niche but so so so cool and has neat fight scenes!!! the OP is also an insane banger
Obviously, it's your kid, so parent however you see fit. I will say that Naruto should be fine imo. The Sexy Jutsu doesn't appear too often and is still pretty tame. Chances are you'll be more uncomfortable about it than your son will.
There are so so many awesome anime but As far as 10 years olds go there is one anime that reigns supreme, it's easy to follow, easy to understand but isnt too childish, this anime is of course.
Dragon Ball Z - your brother will thank you.
DBZ may be the most "overrated?" Anime ever but it's for a reason, it's extremely easy to watch for a kid.
Cursing isnt too big of a deal, and its handled the same way in our house. I dont even curse in my 20s around the house, but the entire family does. Just a respect thing
As for blue lock, absolutely a good choice, adding it to the list
Trigun
(Just a good show, and if you watch the reboot their is absolutely nothing. i think it's the sane for the original, but I just haven't watched it in a while)
Hunter x Hunter (my favorite show)
(Will scar the child deeply from dark moments and has the character named hisoka, who is a very passionate guy about fighting and "potential" power. but otherwise lacks most forms of fan service, just be careful with it due to it potentially scaring more timid children)
\*\*Natsume's Book of Friends\*\* has some thriller and horror, plus no content that a 10 year old or watchful parents couldn't deal with. \*\*Detective Conan\*\* as well, but that's a commitment.
Dragon ball z has basically zero sexuality in it and the violence is pretty cartoony. One piece is similar.
Edit: also reading through the comments this is clearly a bad place to ask for recommendations for kids. Unsurprisingly when half the sub loves lolis they have no idea what's appropriate for children.
I cant confirm or deny your edit, but DBZ is definitely good. Shame though, id prefer to start him on the og dragon ball, but, you know, its a little bit out there sexually.
I'd second this! FMA/FMAB has some horror that is, while not very graphic, pretty disturbing in a psychiological way. The part with the girl and her dog - you know what I'm talking about - that's outright nightmare fuel.
Here are my suggestions...a mix of modern classics and some newer stuff!
Mob Psycho 100
One Punch Man

I watched it with my little sister when she was 8. Nothing really inappropriate ever happened and it was played off as jokes so I think it would be fine.
I watched Naruto with my now 7 year old when she was 6, she's completed it and is now watching Boruto š š¤£
Like to the point my child is obsessed with naruto, only mentioned sexy jutsu once and never again aswell
Detective Conan
Bakuman
Doraemon
Card Captor Sakura
Haikyu!!
Kuroko no Basket
My Hero Academia
Dragon Ball Z
Avatar: The Last Airbender (although technically not an anime)
Any Ghibli movie
Digimon
Beyblade
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Pokemon
Sailor Moon
Personally, I think that Detective Conan and My Hero Academia is the maximum of violence a 10-year-old should be exposed to and that Vinland Saga is not suitable for that age.
Ah snap my bad, I only skimmed over it. I guess dbz is out of the question then that can get quite brutal and bloody.
Itās a shame but all the good animes do tend to have some sort of perverseness in them.
well they specifically mentioned horror as a fave genre for the kid so blood and brutal is probably fine. at least as far as the broadcast edit for dbz it aired on a kids channel in a kids timeslot and was rated y7 so that should be fine for a 10 tear old. but the uncut version which would probably be what htey hve access to now online might have a few more adult elements like alcohol use and more blood, but then again , if the op doesnt feel og Naruto is apocopate then idk LOL. that also aired on kids station here on the states. heck Shippuden aired on the Disney channel and you know how picky they used to be about having a squeaky clean family friendly image lol.
I don't really like sports persay but haikyu is one of my favorite shows. Another one that's almost as good is Kurokos basketball and all of it is dubbed on Netflix if you have yet to watch it.

Highschool of the dead
This was the first anime of my little brother and even now is one of his favourite! He was 5 or 6 when he watched it for first time!
Youāre acting like most of us anime fans werenāt watching weird anime at 10. Toonami had some weird stuff and we all came out good š¤£ itās not even that bad of an ecchi. No nipples are seen.
King's game,
Shangri-La frontier
BTOOOM (it has some echii scenes but not too many and the action and the story are very good, you can watch it alone)
High rise invasion
MASHLE (has some blood)
And maybe rent a girlfriend
Kaiji?
It sort of meets the horror criterion (more like psychological horror than anything else, though), and it doesn't really have much in terms of fan service. It can get a bit graphical violence-wise, but based on your description it might not go too far for the kid.
I would also recommend Hunter x Hunter (2011) and Full metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - both very good shonens with little to no fan service that I can recall, and with some parts that get pretty dark.
Best horror IMO is Junji Ito Collection. Anything by Junji Ito really except Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack though since a chick briefly gets double teamed in that one for some reason (but not in the manga)
Toyko Ghoul is up your street I think along with Death Note and Berserk.
D-Gray man, Soul Eater..
Fairytail could work. It has a little bit subtle fan service at times but overall itās pretty acceptable and will keep him busy for a while.
One of the movies is bad for it though.
Demon slayer would also be good
If he likes any other sports and is enjoying haikyuu, you could show him other sports anime.
Mob psycho is good. Hunter x Hunter. Honestly, I'd go onto MAL or anilist and just search/sort by the shonen demographic and sift through what you think he'd like and what you'd find appropriate.
I loved watching Yo kai watch with my son. He also loves Naruto (oblivious to sexy jutsu), Digimon, Pokemon, and most of the others already mentioned. I'm itching to get him into DBZ. See what used to be on Toonami back in the day that might give you some good suggestions too.
Edited to add CardCaptor Sakura, Esacaflowne, and Gundam Wing
What kinda horror has he seen? The shining is one thing. higurashi when they cry is a whole other level.
Something supernatural and with horror elements and yet still ok for kids like stranger things would be little witch academia.

Somali is a heartwarming one but every episode makes me cry tho lol š

Ok. I just started high score girl last night. Itās adorable. Iām only 2 episodes in I also saw kotaro lives alone. Seems like an interesting premise.
OG beyblade started airing when I was 10. Life-changing stuff! But I'm not sure how much of that was the toys.
Astro boy isnt anime
What? Astro Boy? Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy?
If Astro Boy ain't anime, what the fuck is?
Cells at work! is a really cool scientific anime if your kid is interested in biology
Took me a long time to see this. This is perfect
Just the original version. Cells at Work Code Black is a little scarier for kids.
Wait you think sexy jutsu is bad but one piece is okay. Wtf? Imo one piece has way way more fan service than Naruto.

Bakugan, Kuroko no Basket
maybe bleach? I don't remember anything sexual about it at least
There's Kon and Keigo in the first part for perviness, some fanservice with Yoruichi in the SS arc, and if Sexy Jutsu is too much for OP, he probably wouldn't like a lot of Bleach's outfits lol.
Man forgot Kon.
Kuroko no basket, Ranking of Kings and maybe FMAB?
Dinosaur king, I second. Before I left my girl watch naruto (its rated PG btw) she watched the whole of the pokemon orignsl series, yugioh then dinosaur king (it has the same cast as OG pokemon) My neighbour totoro, haikyu, my hero academia (not the recent series its quite dark), fairy tale (bit touch and go for the "sexy" stuff but I also watched this with my daughter and she loved it), spirited away, howls moving castle, ponyo, avatar the last air bended (technically not an anime but a great show), digimon... If I think of more I'll come back
- One Punch Man - Blue Lock
i mean as far as Naruto goes, it originally aired on cartoon network and is mostly y7. i watched the broadcast and dubbed version so i dont know if theres a version that is more revealing but i didnt find that show inappropiate to watch in front of my really conservative Babtist foster mom . lol as far as the shows with the least sexual content at all that would appeal to that age . most battle shone =n are perfect. FMA brotherhood. attack on titan, HXH wil get you pretty far
PokƩmon or Yugioh or Bakugan. 100% kids show with a product placement. They are technically anime.
I wish I watched around that age "Uninhabited Planet Survive!" / "Mujin Wakusei Survive". It would be my favorite. It's a truly children's TV series, but it has surprisingly strong story plot.
Hikaru no Go is a great one Megalobox Season 1 might be good for him, but I don't think Season 2 would be appropriate for a 10 year old.
Looking for some that haven't been mentioned yet. I think HunterXHunter would be a good one.
Sexy Justus is nothing compared to the fan service of one piece my guy
Mob Psycho is a good one though he won't understand it's social themes School babysitter is also a good light hearted slice of life and if you want an anime free of fan service than romcom/slice of life would be your best bet
kaitou joker!!! i enjoyed it so much despite it being aimed at preteen boys. it's a bit niche but so so so cool and has neat fight scenes!!! the OP is also an insane banger
Obviously, it's your kid, so parent however you see fit. I will say that Naruto should be fine imo. The Sexy Jutsu doesn't appear too often and is still pretty tame. Chances are you'll be more uncomfortable about it than your son will.
Demon slayer
There are so so many awesome anime but As far as 10 years olds go there is one anime that reigns supreme, it's easy to follow, easy to understand but isnt too childish, this anime is of course. Dragon Ball Z - your brother will thank you. DBZ may be the most "overrated?" Anime ever but it's for a reason, it's extremely easy to watch for a kid.
Since he likes horror, perhaps higurashi (no naku goro ni)
I really enjoyed watching BlueLock but I did warn my son a head of time that they do curse 3 times. But he knows heās not allowed to curse.
Cursing isnt too big of a deal, and its handled the same way in our house. I dont even curse in my 20s around the house, but the entire family does. Just a respect thing As for blue lock, absolutely a good choice, adding it to the list
Trigun (Just a good show, and if you watch the reboot their is absolutely nothing. i think it's the sane for the original, but I just haven't watched it in a while) Hunter x Hunter (my favorite show) (Will scar the child deeply from dark moments and has the character named hisoka, who is a very passionate guy about fighting and "potential" power. but otherwise lacks most forms of fan service, just be careful with it due to it potentially scaring more timid children)
Yeah, I thought about it a little more and Dr stone is a fantastic one for kids. Minimal violence almost no sexuality and no super twisted moments.
kiss x sis. gotta teach em young
Digimon, Spy x Family, FMA: Brotherhood maybe even?
FMAB I think is too violentā¦ maybe around 12-13
I'd second this! FMA/FMAB has some horror that is, while not very graphic, pretty disturbing in a psychiological way. The part with the girl and her dog - you know what I'm talking about - that's outright nightmare fuel.
Here are my suggestions...a mix of modern classics and some newer stuff! Mob Psycho 100 One Punch Man Spy x Family Hunter x Hunter (2011) Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Code Geass Samurai Champloo Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works Megalo Box Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans Saga of Tanya the Evil
dark gathering megalo box
Meglobox, if i remember correctly, is exactly something i was looking for. Thanks for the reminder!
Dr. Stone
HxH would be great for him! Full metal Alchemist brotherhood would be great too You already choose a great one with Haikyuu, fantastic choice
High School DxD because heās gonna watch it eventually so why not?
1. Acchi Kocchi 2. Atelier Ryza 3. Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisana Senpai 4. Jitsuwa ore Saikyou Deshita 5. Aharan-san is Indecipherable 6. Appare Ranman 7. Cheat Pharmacists Slow Life 8. I watch my hero academia its much better
Much better than what?
Not spy x family but all of them
G Gundam.

Re:zero? That is definitely not appropriate for kids. Nor is hunter hunter. Full metal alchemist also has its moments (the chimera comes to mind and resurrecting mom)
Fma:b is not for children
Redo of Healer
Inuyasha
The pervert monk going around groping women kinda sinks Inuyasha for kids.
I watched it with my little sister when she was 8. Nothing really inappropriate ever happened and it was played off as jokes so I think it would be fine.
I watched Naruto with my now 7 year old when she was 6, she's completed it and is now watching Boruto š š¤£ Like to the point my child is obsessed with naruto, only mentioned sexy jutsu once and never again aswell
Show him Baki
I already beat him, im the yujiro to his baki. Ill make sure to brew him imaginary tea while we watch it
Hunter x Hunter I think you guys will really like Hisoka.
Rosario + Vampire High school dxd Fire force Seven deadly sins
Hunterxhunter da best.
Let him watch the promise neverland
Stop
Why
Heās 10. Thatās a pretty dark watch for a 10 year old
Jojo
Detective Conan Bakuman Doraemon Card Captor Sakura Haikyu!! Kuroko no Basket My Hero Academia Dragon Ball Z Avatar: The Last Airbender (although technically not an anime) Any Ghibli movie Digimon Beyblade Yu-Gi-Oh! Pokemon Sailor Moon Personally, I think that Detective Conan and My Hero Academia is the maximum of violence a 10-year-old should be exposed to and that Vinland Saga is not suitable for that age.
Try Naruto it does have blood and a few swears if your okay with that.
They specifically said Naruto was too sexual for what they're looking for.
Yeah but I also feel like there's no avoiding dragon ball z. My nephew is 8 and all of his friends are talking about dragon ball pretty regularly.
Yeah but it kinda makes sense. Adults don't like most kid shows for a reason. So most kid appropriate shows most adults won't consider good.
FMA brotherhood. Thereās no fan service but thereās one scene around the end itās not major though. Mob psycho 100 is 100% no fan service
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Promised neverland is not suitable for a child nor is fma:b
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly I was like you what... for kids! I think the eff not š¤£š¤£
Watch Naruto My man. Naruto was playing after school daily when I was 7 It was the talk of the playground
I don't really like sports persay but haikyu is one of my favorite shows. Another one that's almost as good is Kurokos basketball and all of it is dubbed on Netflix if you have yet to watch it. World trigger Daily life of the immortal king Laid back camp Beast tamer Charlotte Darwins game D frag Battle game in 5 seconds How a realist hero rebuilt a kingdom Wisemans grandchild 8th son are you kidding me Genius prince guide raising a country out of debt Hi score girl (kid gets whooped by his rich and quiet female classmate at street fighter, rivalry and friendship ensue) Infinite dendrogram Cheat skill in another world and became unrivaled in the real world too Farming life in another world In another world with my smart phone Bofuri. Tonikawaii.
fullmetal alchemist brotherhood.
Death note š
pokemon, dragon ball / DBZ, ghibli stuff, ATLA stuff, maybe samurai champloo / cowboy bebop / megalobox
Naruto drangon ball z
Dr Stone, Jojo (part 6 is where it starts to get a bit explicit), Mob Pyscho, Durarara, Ya Boy Kongming, Handa-kun, Havenāt you heard? Iām sakamoto. Those are the anime that I donāt think have anything bad in them, and they are all very enjoyable.
Fairy tail
Bruh fairy tale has so much fanservice
Prison School
Are you trying to be funny
Grand blue while im at it
Made in Abyss
naruto is fine but beside naruto maybe beserk?
Definitely he needs to watch attack on titan 10/10 highly recommend
Monster, Elf lied, and Bible Black
Monster by Naoki Urasawa
Highschool of the dead This was the first anime of my little brother and even now is one of his favourite! He was 5 or 6 when he watched it for first time!
????? why reccomend High school of the dead and not something more appropriate
You let a 6 year old watch highschool of the dead? That's really gross.
Youāre acting like most of us anime fans werenāt watching weird anime at 10. Toonami had some weird stuff and we all came out good š¤£ itās not even that bad of an ecchi. No nipples are seen.
Oh he didn't even noticed the ecchi part that much! I mean my mother likes in home is very often naked. And in my country this is not unusuall!
Why the fuck did you let him watch that
Ah, my first anime was in 6th grade. I watched kissxsis. Id prefer my brother go down a different path lol
And the other animes he liked were Shingeki no Kyojin, Kabeneri, D gray man and Avatar ( its not anime but)
> horror Dark Gathering [sexual themes]>!Has a love hotel episode at episode ~17. Pretty safe otherwise.!<
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I bet they wiped that episode from their mind. Was pretty damn traumatic shit and i'm an adult.
King's game, Shangri-La frontier BTOOOM (it has some echii scenes but not too many and the action and the story are very good, you can watch it alone) High rise invasion MASHLE (has some blood) And maybe rent a girlfriend
If hes fine with death and horror stuff maybe give aot or parasyte a try. Id double check on parasyte tho cause i havent watched it in ages.
I recomend you watch Aot
Fate/Zero and Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works
Goblin slayer, berserk, zom 100
Most older anime fans were watching some weird anime at age 10. Let him watch whatever he wants.

"anime to watch with a 10 year old boy" **what do you mean by that?**
Quite clearly mean stuff thats suitable to watch with their brother... why you gotta make things weird
Maybe some gundam
gintama
Future boy Conan
Kaiji? It sort of meets the horror criterion (more like psychological horror than anything else, though), and it doesn't really have much in terms of fan service. It can get a bit graphical violence-wise, but based on your description it might not go too far for the kid. I would also recommend Hunter x Hunter (2011) and Full metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - both very good shonens with little to no fan service that I can recall, and with some parts that get pretty dark.
made in abyss
Ghost Hunt
Best horror IMO is Junji Ito Collection. Anything by Junji Ito really except Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack though since a chick briefly gets double teamed in that one for some reason (but not in the manga)
ranking of kings is as wholesome as it gets and still has plenty of action
Toyko Ghoul is up your street I think along with Death Note and Berserk. D-Gray man, Soul Eater.. Fairytail could work. It has a little bit subtle fan service at times but overall itās pretty acceptable and will keep him busy for a while. One of the movies is bad for it though. Demon slayer would also be good
Ranking of Kings, Megalo Box, and Blue Lock
Ghibli movies!!
AO Ashi is an amazing sports anime
