>Fortunately, a sleepy truck driver grants her wish in a bizarre twist of events—killing and consequently reincarnating her as a seven-year-old Alicia inside the game
Truck-kun strikes again!
The JP government should perhaps reconsider the requirements for acquiring a truck driving license with the amount of accidents these drivers have been causing.
Look up "No Longer Allowed in Another World"(*it's getting an anime soon*)
[I don't know if spoiler tags would be needed, so... nyeh.]>!The group reincarnating people to the fantasy world actually send a truck-kun to run over prospective reincarnators.!<

Ohh, good for them :)
I do wonder how they got there tho, since to my knowledge, the biggest force behind the high suicide rates was the toxic meatgrinder that is the japanese workforce, and i haven't heard about that getting any better

Anime premieres in October 2024. There will be a [world premiere screening](https://x.com/rekiaku/status/1807716023031980116?s=46) of the first episode at Anime Messe Babelsberg in Germany on July 20.
Studio: Maho Film
.
Synopsis:
Alicia is the eldest daughter of the noble Williams family—a bloodline that excels in dark magic. Her jet-black hair and golden eyes command a powerful presence, but her most unique features are, without a doubt, her sharp tongue and malevolent nature. By all means, she is a villainess, but also a fictional character from an otome game!
As an ardent admirer of Alicia, a young, unnamed woman wishes to be her. Fortunately, a sleepy truck driver grants her wish in a bizarre twist of events—killing and consequently reincarnating her as a seven-year-old Alicia inside the game. With sufficient knowledge of how the game plays out, "Alicia" is confident that she will go down as the greatest villainess in history as long as she endeavors to work hard. However, she soon begins to realize that escaping Alicia's fate is not so simple as it seemed.
> With sufficient knowledge of how the game plays out, "Alicia" is confident that she will go down as the greatest villainess in history as long as she endeavors to work hard. However, she soon begins to realize that escaping Alicia's fate is not so simple as it seemed.
She wants to be the villain *and* escape fate? Doesn't make much sense. Or is this one of those where the villainess dies and that's what she wants to avoid?
As best I can tell (after reading a bunch of the manga) she wants to be the best villainess in the world. Not really sure what her endgame is but she’ll legitimately die to obtain that goal.
That said, her definition of villainess is a bit skewed, at one point saying something like, a true villainess should be able to cure any illness. I must get better.
I think this is basically the opposite of Hamefura. There, she did everything she could to escape the role of the villain (including learning to cultivate potatoes so she'd have a job after running away) and tried to befriend all of her future enemies (the heroins).
Here I think she leans into it harder, hoping that if she won't half ass it like the original villian she can pull through.
Actually No, we really need more villainess anime. There are like 6 villainess anime as of now. (https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/tags/villainess)
They may be generic but they are still more entertaining than regular generic isekai, at least for me. Out of 6, I really liked bakarina, last boss queen and endo and Kobayashi one.
Regular Shoujo animation won't cut it for that one.
The subtle psychological horror can't be conveyed that easily.
Of course, there is PMMM who did it with their cutesy artwork so who knows?
My favourite part about this one is that she literally isn’t even a villainess within the story. It isn’t a video game world, so there’s no conceit of there being a hero or villain, and she doesn’t do anything particularly immoral.
I guess they just put villainess in the title because it has a similar overall vibe to all the other otome isekai reincarnated-as-the-villainess shows since she has advanced plot knowledge and a position within the nobility.
Tbf, quite a few villainessstory decided to just do without the video game aspect because it's just needlessly restrictive for premises.
That said, 7th time even stretches that. The villainess tropes basically last for around 1 scene before it completely dumps any tropes from the genre
Yeah the video game premise is usually just a framing device that lets the author explain the world’s mechanics in a way that’s familiar and easy to digest for most viewers. Usually there are some remnants of it that persist though like diegetic references to skill trees, boss fights, or item drops.
Which scene in 7th loop are you referring to? I don’t recall any part that even remotely implies that Rishe is or ever was a villainess. The main turning point in her timeline was going from having low agency over her life and being engaged to a caricature of an idiot to breaking off the engagement and running away to take control over her life. I thought she always had much more in common with a Disney Princess than a villainess.
> Which scene in 7th loop are you referring to?
The first 10 minutes of the first episode. Her engagement is broken off because she was apparently bullying a waifish girl. Which she didn't actually do.
A lot of the villainess series are just "clickbait". It's just used as backstory and nothing more. The ones where they are or acting like a villainess are rarer.
You're just seeing the better ones adapted. If you have a look at Korean LNs / manwha, there are literal hundreds of villainess stories that are just as trope-filled and boring as any generic isekai.
Though villainess stories are almost as overdone as isekai male power fantasies, I'd rather take the former than the latter. (Only will watch ones that gained my interest though)
But you guys aren't wrong about villainess stories being overdone though because I was browsing through Novel Updates and I saw SO MANY villainess stories...
Girl isekai tend to focus more on characterization. Male one is too busy with power fantasty and a harem to have sufficient characterization for everyone
Meh, they're both power fantasies.
I just enjoy more narratives which out socialization and social interaction as the focus of the conflict.
I find "biggest sword go stab" stories generally have far less interesting permutations.
To be fair there's plenty of "power" fantasy in being born an aristocratic lady who never has to worry about money. And there's plenty of reverse harem around.
To be fair it's also because of the market.
If the market had a bigger portion of emotionally immature teenage girls then we'd see far more of those low quality female protagonist novels turned into anime.
I just general find that the "minimum acceptable marketability" of those stories is higher so it's more likely to be an actually good story.
Ehh they get far less compeling after having read like 30 of them. They have diffrent tropes and niches but repetition of it makes it quite lacking just like isekai.
Yes. I think they’re an improvement over standard isekai as rather than “I’m the hero and I’m op and I have a harem” it’s “destiny literally demands I fail so I’m gonna bitch slap destiny and live how I want”
This one was funny. She wants to be the best villainess possible which, to her, means \[premise\]>!being someone who's hyper-competent (in all fields, including political policy), strong, arrogant, abrasive, and hated by all. Which leads to her putting in a truly ridiculous amount of effort into becoming as excellent as possible.!<
I gave the manga 7.5 after bingeing 17 chapters after seeing the first PV months ago. (Apparently the later parts of the novel aren't as good, but I've not read it)
Wait shit, I thought this was the one that she's the secret boss, the MC kinda looked like her. Did that one already have an anime? I remember it being fairly popular before in r/manga.
The secret boss? You mean Lvl 99 Hidden Boss, the mc being Yumiella ~~Dorkness~~ Dolkness? That adaptation came out beginning of this year, it was great. Really funny. They adapted the manga rather than the light novel, which pretty much everyone says was the better choice. (author said he liked the manga's handling of the OG heroine better, too)
I've watched 3 of villainess animes,
* Villains level 99
* I'm in love with the villains
* 7th time loop: A villainess living carefree life married to her worse enemy
And all of them had been so epic that i'll give this one a try too
You need to watch the OG (at least as far as the current anime trend goes) **My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom**.
You need Bakarina in your life.
Bakarina is probably the one that jumpstarted the villainess anime boom. The others can thank Bakarina for being as popular as it was. Bakarina is one of those characters you just instantly fall in love with. She has charisma coming out the wazoo. You know how super dense characters can be frustrating? Well, not Bakarina. Bakarina is denser than a black hole, but she's never frustrating, in fact, her inability to read social queues and notice that the entire cast is absolutely infatuated with her is a sense of humor.
Note: You won't find it searching for "Bakarina", that's just the show's nickname. It's called **My Next Life as a Villainess**.
You can totally just search for bakarina. The "proper" shorthand is hamefura, but since it's called bakarina so frequently you might just confuse people by using the lesser known proper term.
Got it people. I'm taking notes. Someone else also dropped me "*The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte*," which i assume is the one you're referring to. I'll come bookmark the post to drop feedback
Oh it's this one! It's not necessarily anything amazing but it is one of my favorites of the genre so far. Not quite sure why I enjoy it so much but it's just entertaining.
I'm happy to get more of these. There are still way too few anime aimed primarily at female demographics. Though I wish they would adapt more from the Korean webtoon fantasy romance titles, cause there are so many enjoyable ones out there. And it would be amazing if they get the same quality animation treatment as some action webtoon titles, cause it would have been great if Raeliana and Doctor Elise could have gotten that, but they didn't.
Oh I just saw that the German con Anime Messe Babelsberg Berlin will hold the world premier of this series on the 20th of July. And they also hold a panel for Doctor Elise. Damn, just when I recently deciced not to go there and made other plans.
Wild how differently this sub treats these compared to other isekai when they are basically 1 to 1 to every single "villainess isekai" out there. I wish people were as positive when talking about other isekai too.
People hate edge lords. Most op isekai trash is just edge lord shit. These villainess animes take on creative scenarios for the protagonist. In often hilarious situations. Even when they aren’t being funny like in Doctor Elise the story is coherent and pretty solid in Doctors case. So yeah people looking for non trash isekai have found it in princess villain isekai
Another reason is that there are a lot less villainess isekai compared to the male-targeted isekai we get every season. I think we've had 10 villainess anime total released so far compared to the 3-4 RPG video game anime we get every season. Having the focus be on a female protagonist set in a different environment than many of these other RPG isekais who has different goals and motivations than the male mcs who are always becoming the strongest or building a harem is a nice change of pace.
I do wonder if it’s the type of game they are based off of that has an impact. Very often the princess villain anime is based off of an otome game vs the male versions being based off rpgs.
Listen. They are both generic garbage that you watch for fun. My only complaint is how I go into any thread for a new isekai that isn't with a female MC and all I see is how people are talking about how they can't wait to not watch it. If I wanted to see that kind of negativity I could open up Twitter any time of the day.
How is this isekai any different than any of the other similar ones?
- Harem for the main character (otome game)
- MC is or wants to be evil/edgy
- Admires a female/male character and wants to be like them
- Gets reincarnated and has some kind of special power; be it knowledge, magic, strength, etc.
All of those would make people's eyes roll if it was a MaleMC but somehow they get a pass when the title has "Villainess" on it.
>Harem for the main character (otome game)
A significant subsection does have the protagonist reincarnate into an otome setting so there are attractive men around, but many, maybe even most have a single primary love interest.
>MC is or wants to be evil/edgy
The protagonist often takes the place of someone with a bad reputation but it is incredibly rare for them to be evil/edgy. My biggest complaint is how purehearted they tend to be.
>Admires a female/male character and wants to be like them
I have not seen this before.
>Gets reincarnated and has some kind of special power; be it knowledge, magic, strength, etc.
The knowledge is usually information about an alternate timeline that quickly becomes obsolete as things diverge. Other advantages are uncommon and even the foreknowledge isn't always there.
This is definitely not a harem fwiw, almost all of the villainess shows have just one love interest. Bakarina being the exception but she’s too dumb for romantic progress to be made with any of them.
I've never seen a villainess with a slave love interest. The MCs are not edgy - at least, not in any way comparable to the guys. Generally the only wish fulfillment seems more focused on living a good life rather than having a dozen hot girls with 0 in personality slobbering over an MC with the personality of paper. At least when the girls have a harem (doesn't seem too common actually in the adaptations produced so far), they tend to have an interesting personality to warrant it.
That’s because a lot of isekai with male protagonists focus too much on the power fantasy and harem with oversexualized female characters who have no personality. People are bored of that. There’s plenty of good non-villainess isekai shows that get praised here though.
The villainess trope has just been adapted less so it feels fresh and new. Personally, I enjoy the downtrodden mc who’s basically destined to lose, aspect of the villainess story
This one was pretty alright. I thought the manga got axed but maybe the source content didn't? Or maybe it's not axed at all? Idk it's been a while.
Personally looking forward to "the one within the villainess," "the accomplishments of the dukes daughter," and "the holy Grail of eris" to hopefully get adapted into anime.
The villainess subgenre has been a personal favorite of mine for the past 3-4 years. There's a lot of good ones out there. A lot of which have received adaptations to varying success.
The manga is still ongoing it seems ( probably with slow updates) and the original webnovel too.
I hope too that some others gets adapted like "Your Throne"
>Fortunately, a sleepy truck driver grants her wish in a bizarre twist of events—killing and consequently reincarnating her as a seven-year-old Alicia inside the game Truck-kun strikes again!
The JP government should perhaps reconsider the requirements for acquiring a truck driving license with the amount of accidents these drivers have been causing.
You call it accidents, i call it recruitment process.
Look up "No Longer Allowed in Another World"(*it's getting an anime soon*) [I don't know if spoiler tags would be needed, so... nyeh.]>!The group reincarnating people to the fantasy world actually send a truck-kun to run over prospective reincarnators.!<
That just sounds like a good business practice to hire professionals
There is a Thai (?) Isekai manga that explores the life of truck kun driver.
Sometimes I imagine truck-kun drivers as mission-oriented psychos like Heero Yuy: https://redd.it/107mo4i
I'm just wondering if people in Japan gonna start throwing themselves in front of a Truck at this point...
Well, Japan is known for their high suicide rates
Two decades ago. Their rate of suicide has plummeted in the 21st century, to the point that [the United States now outpaces them](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate) by a huge margin. Ohh, good for them :) I do wonder how they got there tho, since to my knowledge, the biggest force behind the high suicide rates was the toxic meatgrinder that is the japanese workforce, and i haven't heard about that getting any better
The other countries above it have gotten worse instead of Japan getting much better.
This makes sense
Truck-kun is the third leading cause of death in Japan after Kaiju and Headcold.
the number of truck drivers having nervous breakdowns over suicidal teenagers who run out in front of their trucks must be astronomical in Japan.
I wanna see an isekai that starts with a truck-kun driver *almost* isekai’ing someone, only to get stuck on some train tracks later in the day.

A bit of Yumiella from Villainess lvl 99 a bit of Pride from last boss queen
A little bit of Rita's all I need A little bit of Tina's what I see

Need Remilia's story to get adapted for Emi!!!
Regular Shoujo animation won't cut it for that one. The subtle psychological horror can't be conveyed that easily. Of course, there is PMMM who did it with their cutesy artwork so who knows?
Thx you! I couldn’t remember the name of that one
The artwork for that is brilliant, and I couldn't stop reading it when I found it. It needs like 200 more chapters immediately.
That does not have... "7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!"
My favourite part about this one is that she literally isn’t even a villainess within the story. It isn’t a video game world, so there’s no conceit of there being a hero or villain, and she doesn’t do anything particularly immoral. I mainly mean the whole breaking the engagement trope being the only thing from such stories it kept
I remember someone saying that the word "villainess" is not that accurate of a term. Not sure, tho.
Which mind you was a fucking banger and my favourite anime of that season
We really need an anime for Prison Life is Easy for a Villainess
Really enjoyed that one, but unfortunately it's a completed series with only 2 LN volumes, so an adaptation is incredibly unlikely.
Didn't stop Endo and Kobayashi. Maybe they don't care that as much now idk
Three chapters of pure beauty! And the LN was even better! Especially that monkey🤣🤣
They have more compelling characterization. Most Isekai with boys as protagonists have the emotional depth of a scratch-off ticket.
You're just seeing the better ones adapted. If you have a look at Korean LNs / manwha, there are literal hundreds of villainess stories that are just as trope-filled and boring as any generic isekai.
Oh I read plenty of those and it's still the superior junk food. Like even completely stock character writing is still better then just none at all.
Not when villainess goes into shounen tropes mode like suddenly being a damsel LMAO.
Though villainess stories are almost as overdone as isekai male power fantasies, I'd rather take the former than the latter. (Only will watch ones that gained my interest though) But you guys aren't wrong about villainess stories being overdone though because I was browsing through Novel Updates and I saw SO MANY villainess stories...
Exactly, this might be the reason I like girls as protagonists in isekai/fantasy anime more than guys.
True that. It’s not popular enough to be everywhere like your average McDonald’s isekai anime though
To be fair it's also because of the market. If the market had a bigger portion of emotionally immature teenage girls then we'd see far more of those low quality female protagonist novels turned into anime. I just general find that the "minimum acceptable marketability" of those stories is higher so it's more likely to be an actually good story.
Yeah i have always prefered Female MC they are always way more compelling and interesting than the black haired self insert boring ass MF.
Ehh they get far less compeling after having read like 30 of them. They have diffrent tropes and niches but repetition of it makes it quite lacking just like isekai.
Bertia adaptation when?
Oh people would LOVE her.
I will never forget how they labelled both Bertia and Katarina as Dumb and Dumber Villainess
That’s a pretty low number since I’ve probably seen 50 villainess manga and a villainess manga anthology
6 anime and countless manga/manhwa/webtoon and alike.
NOT ENOUGH
New meta
It’s my favorite isekai genre by far
Are villainess isekai the new meta?
Cute elf girls are.
So we need cute elf girl villainess then.......which I felt like I haven't read any yet
Sounds great. Someone make it
That was always the meta for all fantasy
Yes. I think they’re an improvement over standard isekai as rather than “I’m the hero and I’m op and I have a harem” it’s “destiny literally demands I fail so I’m gonna bitch slap destiny and live how I want”
I see Villainess, I watch it. Simple as that
Looks pretty good! I've really been enjoying the current wave of villainess/otome stories.
This one was funny. She wants to be the best villainess possible which, to her, means \[premise\]>!being someone who's hyper-competent (in all fields, including political policy), strong, arrogant, abrasive, and hated by all. You need to watch the OG (at least as far as the current anime trend goes) **My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom**. You need Bakarina in your life.
Two different people recommended the same anime. I guess my next anime's booked
I would personally recommend the dub over the sub on this one. The MC's voice on the dub is great.
Severe lack of Bakarina on that list.
i'm open to watching all villainess animes after those 3
Bakarina is probably the one that jumpstarted the villainess anime boom. The others can thank Bakarina for being as popular as it was. not on Crunchyroll, you can't
Time to spread the Soon D'Rey propaganda and get you to watch Tsundere Akuyaku Reijou Liselotte
God I love that anime
Got it people. I'm taking notes. Someone else also dropped me "*The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte*," which i assume is the one you're referring to. I'll come bookmark the post to drop feedback
Yep, the same, just the japanese title with the english title
Last boss queen is pretty good too, I recommend watching that one as well!
I would also recommend *I'm the Villainess so I'm Taming the Last Boss* and *Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte*
Did you just go onto the list of Villainess and picked whatever that was was not yet recommended lol?
Just recommending shows I enjoyed!
Finally 😭 more villainess anime.
I’m eating everything from this genre up right now.
Even after seen a ton of these already, i'm still going to watch and enjoy this.
Are all these villainess anime’s 1 series or are these all different
All different.
Unrelated, but broadly similar premises.
Oh it's this one! It's not necessarily anything amazing but it is one of my favorites of the genre so far. Not quite sure why I enjoy it so much but it's just entertaining.
Otome Isekai train keeps on trucking!!!
I'm happy to get more of these. There are still way too few anime aimed primarily at female demographics. I’d love to see. Death is the only end for the villainess get adapted
Another villainess otome game based isekai anime. Well, it seems I just found a seasonal anime for the Fall.
Haven’t read the synopsis but she looks like Yumeilla with Bakarina personality? Adding to my watch list
Oh I just saw that the German con Anime Messe Babelsberg Berlin will hold the world premier of this series on the 20th of July. And they also hold a panel for Doctor Elise. Damn, just when I recently deciced not to go there and made other plans.
Visuals are perfect!
The villainess sub genre is coming back again
This is a pretty interesting take on the villainess trope and I’m very excited to see anime only s react to the game s heroine
Yes, inject that villainess goodness right into my veins
Wild how differently this sub treats these compared to other isekai when they are basically 1 to 1 to every single "villainess isekai" out there. I wish people were as positive when talking about other isekai too.

It's like having pasta with sauce for dinner. Any idiot can do it and no you ain't gonna win any awards for it... but it fills your belly good.
It's not that I've stopped liking edgelords, it's just that after Eminence in Shadow nothing lesser will do it for me anymore.
lol he is the edgiest of lords.
- Harem for the main character (otome game) - MC is or wants to be evil/edgy - Admires a female/male character and wants to be like them - Gets reincarnated and has some kind of special power; be it knowledge, magic, strength, etc. All of those would make people's eyes roll if it was a MaleMC but somehow they get a pass when the title has "Villainess" on it.
>Harem for the main character (otome game) A significant subsection does have the protagonist reincarnate into an otome setting so there are attractive men around, but many, maybe even most have a single primary love interest. >MC is or wants to be evil/edgy The protagonist often takes the place of someone with a bad reputation but it is incredibly rare for them to be evil/edgy. My biggest complaint is how purehearted they tend to be. >Admires a female/male character and wants to be like them I have not seen this before.
Don't bother.
Fine example of the Pussy Pass in practice.
Villainess Isekai peak isekai so I will be watching.
Boys anime: I'll become a hero and save the world! Girls anime: I'll be a f-ing villainess
I see. That’s interesting. Tell me more.
This will be the third villainess anime i will have watched lmao
Finally something good
This one was pretty alright.
Damn, the era of the villainess isekai genre has begun.
Here we fucking go again and of course I’ll watch it. I think I’ve seen every single anime with villainess in the title
The villaness genre is taking over!
Thank god, another villainess isekai. Unironically needed one last season.
YES!! I adore this one. With each Villainess anime adaptation, we’re slowly getting closer to Bertia having one.
Are these "Villainess" animes basically wish-fulfillment fantasy isekais, but for girls instead of guys?
I'm so tired of isekai. Please Christ send a new trope.
I miss fantasy. Half the time, the past life could be cut from the plots, and nothing would change.
proceeds to not be memorable at all
Most of them aren’t, but they’re still fun to watch
what a fresh original concept!
Another garbage seasonal with cookie cutter story and characters with zero personality. Down in the bin it goes.
Hmm screams 8/10 at best but probably 7 or lower
The unbelievable spam horrors of the anime industry. It's hard to believe this is real
Is that her armpit smell or what?
lol everyone goes down in history. but not everyone goes down in history as a somebody. she got low priorities.
