There is strong evidence to suggests that Ichika is aware of the girls' feelings towards him but chooses to play dumb to avoid problems. And given that the last time he tried to kiss a girl nearly ended up with him being attacked by the girls in their IS (yes, even the angelic Charl), he might want to avoid that happening again.

Never watched IS, but Eminence you nailed. It's a satire/comedy isekai so it's way more purposeful with the harem interactions. Also it's a banger show to turn your brain off and have a lot of fun.
May favorite part is how he thinks they're all just really kind people humoring his delusional desire, so he humors them in turn, like with letting Delta be so clingy, or not bringing up the one girl's false chest.
I don't really think The Eminence in Shadow is even really a harem. I say this because he collects girls like Pokemon cards, but he could not give less of a shit about having a relationship with any of them. This is one of the reasons why Cid is genuinely my favorite protagonist in anime because he just doesn't care about anything other than being edgy, but in the best way possible.
He cares about one thing, and that's his little fantasy play outs of various weaboo situations. Gold too, but I feel like that's in correlation with him wanting his play times.

Just to let you know it has 3 seasons and a couple OVAS but it never got finished and honestly it’s pretty rushed after season one, I searched up season two after season one and thought I missed a season there was just that much of a gap and spent about a couple weeks looking for the missing episodes after I found the OVAS because there was still stuff missing.
The manga is fully fan translated and honestly I’d recommend that first cause the anime is entertaining enough to watch after finishing it.
you're prob thinking of season 3, season 2 directly continues after season 1 and the first two seasons combined only cover the first 41 chapters. After that you got Four girls and an Idol OVA (54-55) and then Tenri arc OVA (57-64) and then season 3 covers 114-189.
If you're wondering why in the world there's a sudden jump, the short story is manglobe was going out of business so they basically just jumped ahead to adapt the arc fans really wanted to see before it happened. It was basically a gift specifically to us at the time and I'm still really glad it got animated. Now of course that also means it's paced very fast and had to cut out some parts but I'd still say it's a good season for how well it covers the stuff it was able to adapt. Manga continues from 190 to the end after that.
the anime for the first two seasons is quite solid of an adaption imo, you just have to know to watch the OVAs. The issue is season 3 which skipped so much, then ends right before the final arc

Bokuben anime is like a demo version of the manga with anime original ending and cutting more then half of the entire chapters, including most of the girls personal arcs. And right with Cafe Terrace their production values are unfortunately meh, studios just aren't doing a great job with their sources.
Not to mention the reasoning for why he did it was BS (simply because the fans of her asked nicely about it and were not cringe asf. And that’s a huge feat considering who typically watches the harem genre).

I quite liked DAL, it's old-school battle harem that has a lot of charm, but the journey was rather uneven (especially if you follow only anime adaptations), season 5 was good and managed to wrap the story rather conclusively despite having open ended feel... but I still feel it didn't reached it's potential and provided a complete satisfaction, even with few leftover novels beyond anime. In particularly regarding Shiido and the girls relationship...
Not being shy is one way of putting it, everyone is terrible in it including the MC but the villains are worse. Unless you really like revenge fantasies or just want ecchi stuff for it's own sake I wouldn't recommend it.

I really liked this ones, as they actually do it and aren't afraid of having their own women. The most fun one is Re Monster, the most well written girls are in the 2nd title, and the best s** scenes are in the 3rd.

I really enjoyed The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, I enjoyed the MC in it, definitely had a lot more backbone and personality than some harem protagonists (Even though there is definitely a main girl, it still has a lot of harem elements)
Kanojo mo Kanojo. The MC almost seems like a satirical parody of being the complete opposite of many Harem MCs. He's loud and is always honest and upfront about his feelings (often times to a fault).
Tbf the harem aspect doesn't really start until very late, so I don't think it's too good of a recommendation here

Wait, I haven't watched the whole series, but when I was a teenager I used to catch some episodes on TV... I don't remember it having any harem elements, but maybe I am misremembering, it's been a very long time.
Ranma's dad offered him in marriage with the daughters of a lot of people. The main love interest is Akane but slowly more characters come for Ranma to seal the deal and marry him. Ranma just cares about martial arts so he's mostly annoyed by his (and her) romantic interest.
It's funny because I think Ranma 1/2 set up a lot of topes for modern harem while subverting a lot of other tropes.
This one about the beast tamer contracting with superior species after being vanished from the hero party (title is pretty much this long, but kinds forgot). Though the dude is just considerate and he doesn't do any romantic advances (in the anime, at least), I don't think he's particularly scared of women.
Also, was to suggest Redo of Healer but it's very sexual, so maybe not what you're asking, yet probably the most fitting one 🤣

Note that season 1 is only a taste of the series, so to get full scope of appeal it's better to jump into the manga or wait for season 2 in January.
Monster Musume. Kimihito isn’t shy or dense, he cares for each of the girls he takes care of. They’re more than willing to have him, but he’s a gentleman and won’t take advantage of them.
The Dreamer is a Realist- The entire show is about a shy/dense MC learning to interact with women in a healthier way. My favorite romance to date.
100 girlfriends- Even if you watch subs or know Japanese, all I can say is the dub has a LOT of fun little localized jokes. Has a little scientist nerd saying she always wanted to try meth, and when asked if it's dangerous, replies that she is the one who knocks, after all.
The Fruit of Evolution is a little silly, but if you can roll with the punches, it's decent fun.
Airfureta is a little dumb, but if you can stomach the first scene with the dragon, the show is alright.
Farming Life in Another World- The anime has the MC portrayed as a little more apathetic than the source material. He isn't shy, but the anime just kind of hand waves over a lot of the romance and hooking up.
Redo of Healer is very dark, but the show is a great Revenge/Power fantasy if you can stomach the noncon and torture/murder of some very bad and some not so bad people.
Harem in a Labyrinth in Another World- Fun power fantasy with lots of boobs and the troubling matter of the MC buying women to sleep with, but it's portrayed as consensual, so there's that.
Eminence in Shadow- Just accept that the MC is delusional AF, and enjoy the show.
Vending Machine in Another World- Nothing traditional here, but I guarantee you the MC would make a lot of money if he ever figures out a sex doll transformation.
Jobless Reincarnation - Love or Hate Rudy, this show has some great story telling and world building. Two seasons in and it can't be called a true harem, but it always feels one episode away.

Agreed that harem anime can be good but most MC's are such idiotic pansies that it's hard to watch. They're basically Ken dolls going through the motions of being real boys while terrified that if they actually get close to a girl she'll discover that he's just completely smooth down there.
I really liked this ones, as they actually do it and aren't afraid of having their own women. The Misfit Of Demon King Academy. The MC is OP. Everyone eventually loves him (even if not fully romantic). And it just drips with being cool and over the top. In a lot of harem/harem adjacent anime I don't see how the harem could actually work. But Anos (MC) is so awesome that I have no doubt he'll end up with at least a few partners.
Hard agree here for Misfit, Chad harem MC. Personally dropped this season but I enjoyed it early on for some dumb fun.
I haven't watched the latest season but from what I remember he doesn't do more than flirt with a few people even if they like him. Has he started to actually try to start a romantic relationship with anyone?
Unfortunately, still the same as before in that regard. The only thing that's changed is the number of people around him. If he ever did show any interest though...

I really enjoyed The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, I enjoyed the MC in it, definitely had a lot more backbone and personality than some harem protagonists (Even though there is definitely a main girl, it still has a lot of harem elements)
Kanojo mo Kanojo. The MC almost seems like a satirical parody of being the complete opposite of many Harem MCs. He's loud and is always honest and upfront about his feelings (often times to a fault).

Yeah. While the 3 main girls are introduced all early in the series, getting to the harem part takes until the end of season 2. Still, Rudeus is a great character, though often misunderstood

Wait, I haven't watched the whole series, but when I was a teenager I used to catch some episodes on TV... I don't remember it having any harem elements, but maybe I am misremembering, it's been a very long time.
Ranma's dad offered him in marriage with the daughters of a lot of people. The main love interest is Akane but slowly more characters come for Ranma to seal the deal and marry him. Ranma just cares about martial arts so he's mostly annoyed by his (and her) romantic interest. It's funny because I think Ranma 1/2 set up a lot of topes for modern harem while subverting a lot of other tropes.
This one about the beast tamer contracting with superior species after being vanished from the hero party (title is pretty much this long, but kinds forgot). Though the dude is just considerate and he doesn't do any romantic advances (in the anime, at least), I don't think he's particularly scared of women. Also, was to suggest Redo of Healer but it's very sexual, so maybe not what you're asking, yet probably the most fitting one 🤣

100 girlfriends, male MC there is one of the main appeals and it's often said that fans would be glad to date him, girls a really lucky to get themselves that monster of love. Note that season 1 is only a taste of the series, so to get full scope of appeal it's better to jump into the manga or wait for season 2 in January.
Monster Musume. Kimihito isn’t shy or dense, he cares for each of the girls he takes care of. They’re more than willing to have him, but he’s a gentleman and won’t take advantage of them.

The Dreamer is a Realist- The entire show is about a shy/dense MC learning to interact with women in a healthier way. My favorite romance to date. 100 girlfriends- Even if you watch subs or know Japanese, all I can say is the dub has a LOT of fun little localized jokes. Has a little scientist nerd saying she always wanted to try meth, and when asked if it's dangerous, replies that she is the one who knocks, after all. The Fruit of Evolution is a little silly, but if you can roll with the punches, it's decent fun. Airfureta is a little dumb, but if you can stomach the first scene with the dragon, the show is alright. Farming Life in Another World- The anime has the MC portrayed as a little more apathetic than the source material. He isn't shy, but the anime just kind of hand waves over a lot of the romance and hooking up. Redo of Healer is very dark, but the show is a great Revenge/Power fantasy if you can stomach the noncon and torture/murder of some very bad and some not so bad people. Harem in a Labyrinth in Another World- Fun power fantasy with lots of boobs and the troubling matter of the MC buying women to sleep with, but it's portrayed as consensual, so there's that. Eminence in Shadow- Just accept that the MC is delusional AF, and enjoy the show. Vending Machine in Another World- Nothing traditional here, but I guarantee you the MC would make a lot of money if he ever figures out a sex doll transformation. Jobless Reincarnation - Love or Hate Rudy, this show has some great story telling and world building. Two seasons in and it can't be called a true harem, but it always feels one episode away.
100 Girlfriends took the harem standarts up to 11 and guarantees that everyone wins in a preposterous way.

Arifureta and Farming life in another world are Isekai harems where the main character is not afraid of women. Hajime from Arifureta is a bit of a Chad while farming life MC seems a little dense if my memory serves.
Combatants Will be Dispatched! Is awful and I love it and want more. Idk if it's technically a harem anime, but he does have a harem around him, and the MC is definitely not shy at all.
