You get a positive association with it in the way your own farts might not be too bad to you. It’s part of the feel good process. Suddenly the smell seems okay because it means you’re gonna be okay.
Hard to describe properly but I don’t like the smell but I associate it with the pleasant feelings felt, so it stops being as bad, even good when you’re looking for it.
It *really* sucks when you’re trying to be sober and someone smells like bong water.
I don't smoke weed (it makes me super anxious, just not for me), but most of my friends do. I like the smell of the bud before it's been smoked, but I'm not a fan of the smell of it once they've started smoking it.
Yep, I found it gets better with your age, I found most seafood smells worse than it tastes.
I can eat quite a few types of seafood now (I’m older than 40) and I actually enjoy a few.
Except anchovies, they are fucking horrific.
Perfume for me. The stronger the smell is the more it effects me. Don't matter what brand or how expensive it is its the same.
And fish I can't stand the smell of certain fish.
Tide or any other laundry detergent. Smells like chemicals.
Edit: I recognize that laundry detergent is just chemicals. My point is that it's advertised as a "fresh" smell or "mountain air" or "dewey meadow" and that a lot of people associate the smell of laundry detergent with the smell of fresh clothes. But that's not the case for me. I think it smells horrible.
I totally agree. And too many people use an excessive amount thinking that it'll clean their clothes better, which is so bad for your washing machine and clothes. Don't even get me started on fabric softners!
I can’t stand the perfumey detergents. I try my damnedest to get unscented ones, but they’re getting so hard to find. And I can’t find any unscented deodorant at all, so I have to go for the most subtle scent.. This nose sensitivity is a curse sometimes.
Body odour, a lot of people smell really bad, I bet that’s a cultural thing and is because the food they eat. But some people smell like bleach (acceptable but repulsive) but others smell like they have taken a shower in a long time and smell like sweat, and many others smell like stray BO in their pits. Those are the worse, no deodorant, no washing the clothes, and on top they use perfume to cover the BO and smell even worse.
I cannot STAND the smell of caramel. I used to work in a bakery and I had to hold my breath whenever they were making caramel to put in the cakes. It’s so vile. It just clings to everything. Hate it.
Mint. Who decided that such an abrasive scent would be the universal standard for “good breath”? I hate when I end up having to speak in close quarters with someone who is chewing mint gum . I shouldn’t have to smell what’s in your mouth
Perfume, I hate that artificial chemical smell. Why cant perfume smell like stuff we actually like. Fresh bread, herbs like oregano or rosemary, cooked steak, etc.
Cucumbers. I can smell them at a distance and through other stronger smells. Others dont even think it has a smell, met one other person who doesnt like em either and they can smell it throguh other things just like me. Dont mind pickles though
Almost all women's perfumes or feminine scented soaps, lotions & potions. But I love almost all men's aftershave, colognes & fragrances. I way prefer smelling like Arctic Rush Deep Forest than Secret Garden.
Rhubarb. For some reason my mouth was covered in mouth sores one day. It took weeks until I could eat again, I got a medicine that helped a little but generally you have to wait it out. The medicine consisted of Rhubarb with some other stuff. Can't even smell rhubarb without having flashbacks.
Any and all colognes, perfumes, scents, that are synthetic (which is 99% of them). And then almost always the person wearing them applies way too much. Just horrid
Men's deodorants. Even though I'm a man, I always buy at the women's section.
(I mean, should armpits even be gendered? It ain't like I'm going to spray my balls with the thing)
When my mum was in hospital dying of cancer, we used rose water perfume to hide the hospital smells and and the smell from just being in a hospital bed for weeks. Rose water just smells horrible to me now. After more than 20 years the smell memory is still there.
Alcohol. Any kind: wine, champagne, etc. I have a deathly intolerance and it all smells like poison to me and makes me nauseous. Like what rubbing alcohol smells to the average person, I guess.
Pretty much any perfume or cologne or synthetic smell. My nose is very sensitive to them and most people who wear them seem to slather them on. I rarely smell anything on someone that doesn't make me want to gag or cough.
Almost any perfume or scented spray. All I smell is the propellant and chemicals in the spray, they overpower the scent to the point I can’t usually tell what it is.

Weed
Weed smells like a blend of body odour, ally way piss and weeds. Vile smell and i can’t understand at all how people enjoy the smell of weed
You get a positive association with it in the way your own farts might not be too bad to you. It’s part of the feel good process. Suddenly the smell seems okay because it means you’re gonna be okay. I think unsmoked weed actually does smell great, but yeah you end up just enjoying it The same you would with BO of tire partner
I don't smoke weed (it makes me super anxious, just not for me), but most of my friends do. I like the smell of the bud before it's been smoked, but I'm not a fan of the smell of it once they've started smoking it.
It smells identical to skunk spray to me, in college it was nicknamed "therapy skunk" because you could smell it really strong after a big exam.
Fish. Any kind. The smell makes me want to throw up.
fish is a famously disliked smell lol
Yep, I found it gets better with your age, I found most seafood smells worse than it tastes. I can eat quite a few types of seafood now (I’m older than 40) and I actually enjoy a few. Except anchovies, they are fucking horrific.
I can pretty much eat anything...but anchovies are what I assume Hell would smell and taste like.
I feel like most people dislike the smell of fish
I worked in a fish plant for years and nowadays even the smell of my manager’s microwaved salmon for her daily lunch makes me nauseous. I feel ya bro.
Bacon I can’t stand the smell. Used to like it. Now it makes me feel sick.
I love the taste of bacon but hate the smell especially after it lingers. I try to avoid eating it altogether because of the fat content.
It's so pungent, I can't tolerate it
Roses
I heard that roses really smell like poo ooooh
People generally like new car smell don’t they? I hate it. stifling and artificial.
Really any chemical “fresh” smell makes me feel the same. It smells like I’m breathing poison
Well.. Yes.
Cooked eggs in any method. I just can't, I gag at that smell.
The smell is foul

If eggs are overcooked they smell bad, i guess i dont notice the smell otherwise.
Lavender Super sweet smells.
Give me headache when I smell lavender
I was going to comment lavender as well. It's pungent and unpleasant. I'm also allergic to it.
Perfume for me. The stronger the smell is the more it effects me. Don't matter what brand or how expensive it is its the same. And fish I can't stand the smell of certain fish.
Same, perfume and aftershave all just smell cheap to me. Even though they're fantastically expensive
Coffee
Tide or any other laundry detergent. Smells like chemicals. Edit: I recognize that laundry detergent is just chemicals. My point is that it's advertised as a "fresh" smell or "mountain air" or "dewey meadow" and that a lot of people associate the smell of laundry detergent with the smell of fresh clothes. I hate to break it to you...
You're not gonna believe this...
I guess what I mean is, it doesn't smell like "fresh air" or any of the other bullshit things they say it smells like.
I totally agree. And too many people use an excessive amount thinking that it'll clean their clothes better, which is so bad for your washing machine and clothes. Don't even get me started on fabric softners!

That's quite common. To some people with a certain gene it tastes like soap and smells nasty

You can also get unscented ones. The active ingredient is usually aluminum. The fragrance isn't important.
