Gwarek2

AirAcademy

Lmao one of my first times listening to Aphex Twin was on acid and I played Drukqs bc of how beautiful Avril 14th was. I wish somebody would have warned me 😭

bloodmelody

dude that song is the definition of fear and paranoia

[deleted]

Gwarek2 stays in the sex playlist

ohianaw

yea easily. sounds like something out of a psychological horror movie

Humble_Piccolo_926

The song ain't that scary, but the video for Come to Daddy is something else

LibRAWRian

Rubber Johnny.

HauntedSpit

Just here to give Chris Cunningham some credit.

OkOutlandishness3480

Valid

svp318

Agreed, Rubber Johnny scared the shit out of me when I was younger.

OkOutlandishness3480

Same, my father showed it to me as a kid. Now I own the booklet CD copy.

potosuci0

Rubber Johnny its finest comedy m8 , im more scared of the donkey rhubarb bears

[deleted]

Watched it on Dailymotion without the music video; good times. Didn’t realise it was Aphex Twin until years later.

NoidedDiscjockey

was pretty fascinated that it was used in the film 8mm

Paviaaa

Scared the shit out of me watching it for the first time as an 18-year-old, when I started going down different rabbit holes in electronic music.

el_duderino_lux

Gwely Mernans scares the shit outta me

criscodisco90

The title translates to death bed in Cornish 💀

uniblobz

Radiator, eerie af

jerryglov

In terms of Radiator from Selected Ambeint Works 2 or Peel Sesion 2?

uniblobz

Regular saw II

sushi-----trash

it's #2

andrewmalanowicz

I’d say Tree is eerier than Radiator. Deeply existential.

jerryglov

Which mix are you referring to?

fleedermouse

The studio one always disturbed me. I used to do yoga to the album and would get up to skip that one.

BaroquePseudopath

The epilogue after funny little man is a bit unnerving. I wooould like to fuckyou in the ^^^bumhole etc

Melkertheprogfan

#23 is often forgotten about but it is realy fucking un nerving. It is like this ambient out of time synth loop with weird sounds over it like laughs that almost makes you crie. I dont know why but I love

JesusJones207

Fantasia, having a party is not my idea of a fantasy … especially right now.

S-3TH

Thai_Lord

"Tha" is an entirely different song on LSD than it is, sober. It starts of by pulling you into a dark, desolate realm. Normally, the song just sounds like a dark, electronic song or whatever. But then, with time all expanded and elongated, you notice the voices. When your mind is functioning as intended - all the mutterings and voices in the background are so completely drowned out by the hypnotic rhythm and sounds of things falling down vacant spaces - that you could never dream to make out that there were any words being said, let alone what they were musing about, even with the greatest headphones in existence... but when the acid takes the "almost-words" of these phantom people, they start to say words, and you can hear their conversations, lost in this void, with their words being whatever your brain feels like subconsciously breathing life into without consent. I guess it could be scary. Or just trippy. Scary is weird. It's subjective. It's like hypnosis. It's a response to an environmental factor. A defense mechanism. If your response to what is supposed to be perceived as fear is understanding it's your response to what is supposed to be perceived as fear - the thing cannot be be frightening. It just is. Like everything else. Derp. I don't feel ascared, but the song that has taken me down the darkest avenues of thought while tripping balls is "Tha." Those very real people who don't exist, speaking words that only you can hear. Subjective devoicing. Voicelessness in voice. And then you come down, and they've vanished back into the record. It's wicked. Verrrspooky.

KatsabatoR80

I'll try thnx

Connect_Scene_6201

I find it interesting that on dissociative drugs that song is extremely peaceful to me, not scary at all, but I wont even touch Aphex when I take psychedelics. Thats why I like dissociatives, nothings scary lol

[deleted]

I love Tha

SomeSuccess1993

I find it a very beautiful song but at the same time uneasy and mysterious.

Monkedoggi

I recognise that avatar 😭

Nicktheman15469

Gray stripe

Alter_Scagen

Gwarek2, definitely. A lot of songs from SAW 2 would also be pretty close like Hankie

tfWindman

His Threnody To the Victims of Hiroshima interpretation. Easily his scariest noise piece.

fanclubmoss

No doubt about it.

klippklar

The tree / the grass. Best played at the same time.

andrewmalanowicz

Grass sounds like a slow marching army of ants with torches that is carrying away a rotting corpse.

jaredletomorbius

Hedphelym - actually gives me anxiety to listen to

AverageLiam_

gwarek2, or white blur (both)

erixchol

Without a doubt 20 Vtnm from the SoundCloud recordings. The "tschingg" scares me every time

DonutEmbarrassed1076

Gwarek2 or hankie

UranicPine77

Grey Stripe and Hankie(16, 4). Grey stripe is definitely more unnerving for me.

Cyrax89721

Analogue Bubblebath 3 (the track, not the album)

[deleted]

His mix of Run The Place Red used to freak me out back when I was younger, probably that

RigorBaktus

Spots / Tassels. idk if they are necessarily the scariest, but i once fell asleep listening to Lichen and woke up halfway through Tassels. Sleeping through Spots and Tassels i had the most fucked up lucid dream and was pretty disturbed when i woke up, so those two tracks always make me feel uneasy nowadays haha

Funny Little Man made my buddy cry when he heard it the first time on 🍄‍🟫 lol

ItsDevinOk

threnody to the victims of hiroshima aphex interpretation

rielrep

White Blur 2. It reminds me of missing child cases

SmegySwag

For me it’s little a funny man and the little weird hardcore sentence at the end x)

Balsackes

shroomdot

Bogsy_

Stone in Focus always makes me feel mortality. The fear of being forgotten and the fear of forgetting. Supposed to be chill, but it's very retrospective when I listen. I really turned to Aphex in the dark times in my life, I've mostly put that all be hind.. but that song brings me back to those days. Early 20, alone, broke and lost.

shartboidigity

Mt Saint Michel really fucked me up because of the modulation of the voices at the end. It's insanely similar to how I would hear the world around me when I would have my night "seizures" (never got an official answer from the neurologist other than potential myclonic jerks). It was like losing all control of my body and being plugged into an electrical outlet.

mysticsushi

Gwely Mernans That constant muffled beating that floats around the stereo field. That 'melody' drifting slightly out of tune as it decays.

cybersensations

Mangle 11 (Circuit Bent V.I.P. Mix) is pretty intense on decent lsd edit: also thnxU4letinMeStyWitU and the SAW at the end of that one sopranos episode

MurkyGloom35

This one freaks me out https://youtu.be/jCI_Alt7zcE?feature=shared

SAW8592

Ventolin. Is also one of my favourite songs, but the feedback in the background scaries me to death
