Shure headphones come with very high quality foam tips that last for years and are smooth so they don't get filled with ear wax. The Comply tips are really bad in comparison, but unfortunately Shures have very narrow "canals" so the tips don't fit most other brands.

For real tho, this sucks. Every piece of electronics i own, except for my iPhone uses USB-C. They have USB-C both on their Macs (where they introduced it years ago as "the future"), and their newer iPad Pros. Why can't they release accessories with USB-C, i don't want to tape a Lightning adapter to the back of my charging case.

I have them and they are pretty great. Amazing battery life and sound but they’re just a little too big in the ears aesthetically and the case is larger then AirPods. I just hope these AirPods Pro compare well given the similar price.
That’s the reason I’m not upgrading. I bought these things for a lot of money just a couple of years ago. The batteries now won’t last five minutes. I’d consider replacing them with the standard AirPods but they haven’t dropped the price on them.
The worst part isn’t even the price, it’s that I’ll be afraid to use them because you only get several hundred uses before you have to throw them away. I don’t want to feel like I have to babysit my earphones when I bought them for the convenience
For me the issue is that they'll say they're out of battery in 30 minutes. However, if I throw them back in the case they magically go back to 90%. I can't get through an interview wearing these without having to pause and throw them in the case to reset them.
For phone calls just do one at a time. On Mine the left goes flat before the right so I just start alternating between one charging and other in ear.
It’s a pain though.
I'm more interested in the noise cancellation. I'm close to pulling the trigger on modern over-ear noise cancelling headphones (like the sony's), but if these are 90% as good I'd likely go with these for portability.
Very interested in Noise cancelling + ability to use at the gym. I’ve been wanting something like that for a long time, everything is either NC but no gym ready or gym ready but poor audio.
I have both the Sony over ear and in-ear active noise cancelling (WF-1000XM3). Currently I find the WF-1000XM3’s leaps and bounds better than my AirPods, but if these new ones can top those sound-quality wise I will be pleasantly surprised.

It will easily be noticeably better, even if they used the same exact speakers and drivers from gen 1 AirPods, the fact these Pros create a seal will make sound significantly better.

It's moments like these when you see how good Apple designers really are. The design is essentially 98% like the leaks, but somehow that remaining 2% takes something that could have been ugly and makes it nice.
Agreed. In the leaks, the ear tips look so short and I always wonder how they could stay in the ears. But with the official photos, the tips look more like it.
I was planning on passing on these and keeping my original airpods since I like to be able to hear what's going on around me...but I think I'm sold now
john siracusa of atp said that airpods had a similar problem. If you're out and about and someone comes up to you whilst your listening to music on your airpods, you pause by tapping the airpod. To literally most people, it looks like you're an asshat who likes to remind others to not talk to them by pointing at your earphones. I wonder if the new force sensors will help in that department
Couple things worth noting:
1. They have slightly less listening time than either Gen 1 or 2 AirPods. AirPods pro have up to 4.5 hours with Transparency/Active Noise Cancelation enabled or up to 5 hours with both disabled. It’s 5 hours for the Gen 1/2.
2. They have slightly better talk time. Gen 1 has 2 hours, Gen 2 has 3 hours, and Pro has 3.5 hours.
3. It appears that tapping has been completely replaced with use of the button. You can press once to play/pause/answer call. Press twice to skip forward. Press three times to skip back. Press and hold to switch between Active Noise Cancelation and Transparency.
I think I’m actually okay with the lower overall listening time but higher talk time. Coming from Gen 1 it’s rare I kill my batteries listening to music but I kill them on long work meetings all the time.

Any info on whether the Pros will auto-pause if you remove one from your ear? I use that feature a lot, but I figure it's replaced by the force button.
People say that, but I sweat a LOT, and I've been working out with my 2016 Airpods daily. Have never had a single issue. IMO Airpods have always been sweat-and even rain-resistant, just not marketed as such until now.
I’ll probably just replace my kitchen AirPods, downstairs bathroom AirPods, and my study AirPods this time. I’ll make sure to replace the bedroom AirPods, upstairs bathroom AirPods, basement AirPods, living room AirPods, car AirPods, and work AirPods when the next generation comes out.
Likewise, the old AirPod design was incredibly uncomfortable for me. These might actually not hurt my ear canals to have in for more than 5 minutes.
That said, pretty much the only time I use headphones and am not at my desk at work are when I go on flights, and 4.5 hours of battery won’t cut it for that, so I’m not sure if I actually have a good use for these.

I would be really surprised if they did release them in any color but white. White earphones is one of the most iconic images ever associated with Apple. Anyone wearing them is literally a walking Apple commercial. Every day I see people with AirPods from far away, it takes just one glance to recognize them, and that’s how their appearance was normalized. By having everyone see them everywhere.
Black AirPods would look like just some pair of earphones, or worse, straight up knock-offs. Apple will probably never allow it.
You’re not going to see other colours for at least another year or two. Apple’s big concern right now is to keep them iconic and recognizable and therefor a status item. Once they’ve become so ubiquitous they’ll branch out into the personalization model of offering cute colours.
Yeah the name, as with all Sony products, can use some work...but having owned these for about a month, I can tell you everything is just exquisite about these...from the exceptional sound quality, build quality, comfort/fit, noise cancellation, etc....they are worth every penny and then some.

Well I don't want to mislead you or anything, you should probably do the research yourself and see if they fit your needs. But from my own personal experience, the SQ (both for music listening and making calls) has been solid with no complaints at all.
$250, huh? I guess that seems right for Apple. Kind of a shame this doesn't show any colors besides white; that leak a few days ago of all of the colors was nice. $250 is about right considering the specs, though it's kind of weird that they're water and sweat resistant given that those were the selling points for the Powerbeats Pros that Apple also sells for the same price.

There is a $50 replacement program, but it’s fifty dollars per piece of the AirPods. If you want all the batteries replaced you might as well buy new (which is what you’re getting anyway—it’s not possible to actually replace the batteries, at least in the regular AirPods).
Fastest I’ve ever ordered an Apple product. My AirPods are probably my most used apple product ever after iPhone. Had them since launch in 2016 and the battery is starting to wear.

They’ll be better by virtue of being in ears. By default you’ll get better bass and highs unless they truly suck.

You might want to check the compatibility page. Seems to work from A9 chip devices onwards. The page lists the 6S, 6S Plus, SE and so on.
It looks like only the new Audio Sharing feature requires iPhone 8+, etc.
This is incorrect. Compatibility section says it's compatible with iPhone 6s/SE and upwards.

Apple's goal is clearly to have users wear AirPods all day. They are the next generation content distribution platform.
Same with amazon and the alexa headphones. The less time you spend in the real world, the more money you spend in their ecosystem.

Biggest factor for these..... **Sweat and water resistant (IPX4)** HUGE.

Exactly it’s a brand and it’s iconic they aren’t going to change the color. Different colored airpods are synonymous with knockoffs at this point

Yeah the name, as with all Sony products, can use some work...but having owned these for about a month, I can tell you everything is just exquisite about these...from the exceptional sound quality, build quality, comfort/fit, noise cancellation, etc....they are worth every penny and then some.
I need a solid pair of wireless/bluetooth microphone/headphones. Are these it chief? I primarily need the microphone to talk business/work calls. How is the call quality? Sound I would assume it's the best Sonys ever made.
Well I don't want to mislead you or anything, you should probably do the research yourself and see if they fit your needs. But from my own personal experience, the SQ (both for music listening and making calls) has been solid with no complaints at all.
Absolutely not. I like me some Sony headphones but the WF’s are gonna be superior in the sound/battery life.

$250, huh? I guess that seems right for Apple. Kind of a shame this doesn't show any colors besides white; that leak a few days ago of all of the colors was nice. I believe they are assembled with the internals floating in glue, so it might look a bit "Theres something about Mary"...
The inside is probably full of glue and filler and not nearly as attractive as the render.

$250 is about right considering the specs, though it's kind of weird that they're water and sweat resistant given that those were the selling points for the Powerbeats Pros that Apple also sells for the same price.
I guess Apple is giving you the choice of having the ear clip or straight insertion method like regular AirPods.

This pulls the rug out from under Amazon, whose Echo Pods were going to start shipping tomorrow. I actually ordered a pair, because I wanted wireless earbuds with passthrough - but I just cancelled the order and bought the AirPods Pro. You devious, Tim Cook. Stuck it to Bezos and got me to pay twice as much.

Does this address the battery longevity issues of the original AirPods? I’m down to like two hours a charge on lightly used AirPods that are only about two years old. Not sure that I’m looking to cough up $250 every couple of years

There is a $50 replacement program, but it’s fifty dollars per piece of the AirPods. If you want all the batteries replaced you might as well buy new (which is what you’re getting anyway—it’s not possible to actually replace the batteries, at least in the regular AirPods).

Fastest I’ve ever ordered an Apple product. My AirPods are probably my most used apple product ever after iPhone. Had them since launch in 2016 and the battery is starting to wear. Can’t wait!

I feel like I am reading all the same comments from the original AirPods. Fast forward they are sold out at every store and everyone wants them. Complain about the price, ok. The design, get over it. All wireless in ear headphones look goofy. Giant black quarters in your ear, rectangle lego blocks sticking out of your ears...blah blah blah. Stop hating to hate. I am excited about these. Price is holding me back a little though.
Look for more announcements. I bet they stagger them along the week like they did last year to own the news cycle for the week.
