One of the best parts of Monogatari is the lengths to which the author goes to prove why the seemingly obvious and fan-favorite pairing between the first two characters shown in the series is not a healthy relationship.
I don't think a relationship would be detrimental to either of them given the fact that the reason why Kako spawned was because of hanekawa's jealousy towards senjou.
Hanekawa has a similar problem to mob from mob psycho where she bottles up her emotions (in this case the bad ones) to remain pure (this based on black hanekawa's words) if she started dating Araragi then she wouldn't have this bad emotions to begin with.
Even meme oshino was thinking they would en up together at some point, the fact that he ended up with senjou was also a surprise to him.
She is also the one who could understand his struggle the best, and she actually addresses Shinobu unlike senjou who doesn't like to think about Shinobu because she is aware that Shinobu will always be the first in araragi's heart with his sisters being second and (oddly enough) hanekawa being the third as stated in Shinobu mail
That's because Hanekawa's complete and easy acceptance of Araragi stems from her own lack of self-worth and lack of connection prior to meeting Araragi. The reason she is such a nice person to him also leads him to the conclusion that Hanekawa is his savior, his benefactor, even a saint who can do no wrong until Black Hanekawa takes over.They would never be able to stand equally in a relationship.
On the other hand, Senjougahara is a girl who suffers from a lack of connections but has enough self-worth to not be a complete pushover in a relationship. Her reaction to Shinobu is how any normal girl would react at first and finally, it may seem like Araragi is always being dominated by Senjo but often during dates they talk toe-to-toe with each other and Araragi also enjoys this one part of his life being the one not riddled with apparitions.
That's just my take on it tho. I used to be a hardcore passenger on the Vamp x Cat train but adding some age and rewatching this series made me realize how healthily & realistically the Vamp x Crab relationship develops.

That depends on when their relationship starts, if it was right after kizu then their relationship wouldn't work due to the reasons you explained previously, but if it was after neko kuro they would function based on the fact that prior to that point araragi did not understand hanekawa, if he would have asked a different question to tsukihi and gotten a different answer then him and hanekawa would have likely ended up together.
Also, hanekawa is regularly the one that is scolding araragi whenever he messes up, a relationship isn't about both dominating In a relationship, that depends on what people like and the way they feel towards taking control in a relationship.
It's a fact that not everyone likes to lead in a relationship, some people just like to go with the flow, that's just how relationships work.

Just because he decides to get together with hanekawa doesn't mean his life will be paranormal, it would basically be the same as it is now since the only apparitions hanekawa is related to are the ones that stem from her bad emotions that came specifically because of Araragi dating senjou.

I would even argue that hachikuji is on a higher priority than senjou since he did say that he was willing to stay lost with her during the events of Shinobu time which would imply that he wouldn't see senjou anymore.
The fact of the matter is that araragi's relationship with senjou is not even close to the top 3 most important things in his life, it would be better in my opinion if he had a relationship with hanekawa since she is a priority for him
You said he put more value in hachikuji or hanekawa just bcs he was willing to die there is not really true. He also sacrificed himself to save kambaru who had zero value in araragi's life. Forget kambaru, he gave up his life to save half dead vampire monster. It's bcs it's his nature to save everyone. It's not like hanekawa and hachikuji matters more for him. Araragi himself admitted that **he loves senjogahara more than hanekawa** in tsubasa tiger's final episode. We can't ignore that for our headcanon.
And about hachikuji- yes araragi was willing to be lost with her for God knows how long and it was not right thing to do that's what he learned from hachikuji there. It was clearly an emotional pressure on him seeing someone he's holding so dear will be gone forever. Then hachikuji reminding him that there are other people waiting for him too so it's not right to go for self sacrifice path. It was his character development.
And for that sole character development reason he's with senjogahara. She was the only one in his harem who can teach her value of his own life, he clearly needs someone to put him on leash.
This same thing his little little sister also understood without even knowing about vampire that how his brother is ready to take all responsibility even if there's only slight involvement of him.
