I have not done most of these! This is a fantastic list, thank you! I have much research to do now :)

Edge of the world camping if you have an off road capable vehicle

When I went up there last (2020) saw at least 3 sedans (Accord, Camry, some kind of VW station wagon) so it’s possible. I had a crosstrek that handled it no problem, couple spots I wouldn’t want to take something less than the Subaru though personally

No-Introduction7977

Good to know! I’ve always wanted to go here but I have a Chevy Trax (small SUV) so if some sedans can make it, I’m sure my car can too!

escapecali603

So a Subaru Forster will be fine?

jackofallcards

Absolutely

Any of the units of the national park system in AZ that you have not been to. Besides the 3 national parks, Chiricahua and Organ Pipe Cactus are my two favorites. https://www.nps.gov/state/az/index.htm If you do go to Chiricahua NM be sure to allot enough time to explore Cave Creek Canyon in the Chiricahua Mountains. Kartchner Caverns State Park. One of the best caves in the U.S.

No-Introduction7977

Thank you! The caverns sound incredible and I’ll definitely be going

escapecali603

Greer? The place that doesn’t exists?

sirlost33

Salt river tubing. Go on a slow day.

cshady

See the sunrise over the Grand Canyon Kayak horseshoe bend White water rafting in the Colorado river / GC Flagstaff also has a great zip line / ropes park If you really have time Zion/Bryce canyon national parks are worth checking out

arubablueshoes

Have you done the tourist trap things? Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon? Also like Jerome, Tombstone. I'm thinking of things that when you tell people you used to live in Arizona that you'll be asked about. I'd also make the drive up to Monument Valley.

No-Introduction7977

Done all of those things except Antelope Canyon! The price is a bit much more than I’d like to spend, but I’ll be passing through the area as I head up to Zion/Bryce so I think I’ll check it out

Brews_Wayne_

Bearizona is cool up north.

PineappleXpress96

Lake Powell for any water recreation. You can rent whatever equipment you need in Page. Breathtaking red rock canyon scenery!

Hi there! Late to the party, but try kayaking down the Clear Creek from the Clear Creek Reservoir which originates up at McHood Park in Winslow. It's a pretty relaxing paddle both ways and there are high canyon walls along the river. It gets busy from the locals during spring break weekends and hot in the summer but during busy times, it's a popular place for cliff jumping into the river. It's easiest to launch from McHood Park but you can find some places more south along the river to jump on. The river goes for MILES but there is plenty of room for kayaks and SUPs. It's a short drive from Homolovi State Park in Winslow where you can set up base camp. Then you can drive about an hour to the Petrified Forest National Park to the east from Homolovi if you're so inclined.

No-Introduction7977

Thanks for the info! I was planning on going to Petrified NP so I’ll be sure to add this on to the trip :) Is it dog friendly? I know the NP is so my pups would be coming on the trip and they behave well in kayaks

Wild_Granny92

Petrified NP is leashed dog friendly. My dogs had a nice time there.

nVeeGreen

McHood Park is dog friendly and I have seen dogs along the creek and in boats. To clarify, you would be going UPSTREAM going south in Clear Creek and that's where the canyon walls are. Make sure to sign up your pups to be Bark Rangers at Petrified Forest NP! PFNP is one of the very few National Park Service managed lands that allow dogs in the backcountry and there are MILES of it to explore. Colossal Cave southeast of Tucson is pretty cool. Even in the middle of the AZ summer, it stays a cool 76 degrees. They have guided tours only and some fun history.

nobodyknowsimherr

Lockett meadow in the SF peaks in Flagstaff Or the drive up to Snowbowl Too bad you won’t be there in the fall, it’s beautiful with all the aspen leaves turning and falling But still pretty

scrollgirl24

Chiricahua!

LarryGoldwater

Arizona Mills Mall is lovely

Paulett21

Bruh leave AZ and don’t look back lol

Three-0lives

Stay out of the forests so you don’t burn them down.
