Taco Regio off Arkansas and park springs Blvd has some of the best fajitas I've had in my life and their beans saved my life while recovering from a sinus surgery, (not literally but they are my comfort food).
It is Mariano’s and it’s not even close. Lived in Arlington almost my entire life. Others have come and gone, Mariano’s is top quality TexMex and has been for quite some time. Best cheese enchiladas in the land! Great margaritas, table side guacamole.. *kisses fingers
Lupe’s near the stadium is solid. Good local mom and pop place. It’s probably what you would think of when you think “real Texas Tex-Mex” when it comes to food, drinks and atmosphere.
If you’re adventurous and want legit Mexican, there’s two different gas station joints I highly recommend. Both off Green Oaks, one at Green Oaks and Fielder and one at Green Oaks and Ascencion (Green Oaks wraps around Arlington, these are both on the north side of town).
I’m a little disappointed so many people said Chuy’s. It’s not bad, but Arlington has tons of awesome local places, Chuy’s is kind of a generic corporate chain.
Taqueria Tepito on Mayfield and Matlock.
A little more traditional than some TexMex options listed here but the quality is great and the people are friendly.
Chuy’s always seems very salty to me, and as stated, always super cramped.
We did Mariano’s for a long time, but last visit was just ok. Abeulo’s is large and always good.
Our new stand by is Mama Cuca’s in Mansfield, Debbie Ln.
I had lived in Arlington for over 9 yrs and had not ever heard of Mariano’s. A month before I moved out of Arlington, I tried it. I was not impressed. Maybe I needed to try more menu items? I don’t know, but Chuy’s is way better.
I also agree with this. My boss used to eat there all the time, we decided to stop there one day. It was okay. Better than on the border? Sure. Best in town, no. Wasn't a fan of Chuy's either, mainly because of the cramped atmosphere.
Go to Meso Maya in Ft Worth if Chuy’s is your standard. Chuy’s is like Fuzzy’s older brother (nothing wrong with them just taste to TEX and not enough MEX for me.) The Pollo Serrano Enchiladas at Meso made me change my standard for enchiladas and nothing has come close ever since.
I am a tex mex snob cuz I’m from Houston where it’s wayyy better! For hole in the wall good here; Paula’s- closes at 2 tho and then for just a solid excellent Texas chain- Pappasitos!
Most of the places other people are mentioning use gross mass produced tortillas 🤢
When I think of Tex mex, I think of cheese enchilada's rice, beans, that kind of stuff. Fajitas is something entirely different. Mariano's probably has some good fajitas, it's been awhile, but I've never been that fond of their tex mex, plus last time in several years ago, it was more expensive then anywhere else in Arlington.
I like Mecardo Juarez, but I rarely get their tex mex stuff. But I gotta admit, it's the salsa that drags me there more than anything.
El Ranchito, probably a good tex mex standard, but not the fondest of it either. Pretty basic stuff tho, and worthy of a trip. Haven't been in awhile.
Heard a lot about La Bendicion, but haven't been able to get there yet.
El Gabacho has some solid tex mex, and I like the salsa, but they got crazy expensive about a year ago. This is seconded by the half full parking lot at lunchtime when it used to be packed.
El Arroyo, sorry to say, ugh.
If I had to pick, I'd go to El Gabacho because I think they have the best cheese enchilada's, rice and beans I know of in Arlington. There are much better tex mex places in Fort Worth, but in Arlington, these are the places I have been to excepting Bendicion.
EDIT I meant to mention, and I'm sure many people will shit all over me for saying it, but if the Pulidos on Matlock was still open, I would go there. Place was nothing fancy, and teh definition of tex mex, good salsa too. I hear they finally reopened the Ft Worth location, and I'm going this week.
Depends.
You want AMAZING tacos? My Dominican and Mexican friends will tell me about the most amazing tacos made at local gas stations.
But a GREAT Mexican restaurant? El Arroyo.
Taco Regio off Arkansas and park springs Blvd has some of the best fajitas I've had in my life and their beans saved my life while recovering from a sinus surgery, (not literally but they are my comfort food).
I love Taco Regio! Staff are super friendly and the food is great.
Omar is an awesome guy.
I love their beans! I just wish they put them on the tortas and toasted the bolillo. Maybe they do now, but when I went over a year ago, they didn't
Mariano’s, near Six Flags. They lost a year or two during COVID, and people forgot about them.
This is the answer OP, get the fajitas and have yourself the best margarita in Arlington
There's alot of great tex-mex in Arlington, but Mariano's is #1 by a wide margin, and has been for a LONG time
Sure did I thought they closed permanently. Great rec! I’ll have to go back there if they’re still open.

I'll second Marianos, unless you just hate fajita smoke.
Haha, not opposed at all! In fact, I wish I could make an air freshener that smelled like that. Boy I'd be rolling in the money then.
This is the answer unless you want to travel to Ft Worth for Meso Maya
I third Mariano’s.

La Bendicion is Fielder Plaza is excellent. Great staff, excellent food. The meat for the fajitas is incredibly tender.
LA Benediction on Fielder
I'm, personally, a fan of El Gabacho
Hard disagree. Had some of the worst food ever there. I'll have to give it another shot someday.
El Ranchito!
This is great food and they have live music
The bar area is a great place to sit!
I’m a big fan of El Arroyo on South Cooper St
I knew I heard some dumb ass bitch say that! lol. Love the name. Been cracking up. Also love el arroyo and go often.
there food isn’t good but the atmosphere is nice
El Arroyo food is garbage.
Papaya is going to be your winner. Promise.
No. I used to live next to that place their queso tastes like it out of a can and the food lacks flavor. Even their water was nasty.
Taqueria Tepito on Mayfield and Matlock. A little more traditional than some TexMex options listed here but the quality is great and the people are friendly.
Lupe's Tex Mex on Six Flags but better than that is Tapatios in Cedar Hill, not a bad drive about 15-20 minutes from north Arlington. Enjoy!
Mercado Juarez
Chuy’s always seems very salty to me, and as stated, always super cramped. We did Mariano’s for a long time, but last visit was just ok. Abeulo’s is large and always good. Our new stand by is Mama Cuca’s in Mansfield, Debbie Ln.
Mariano’s!!!!
Mercado Juarez
You need to check: Papaya Mexican grill off Pioneer and center street.. It's a local restaurant and the food it's great!! Jimmy Johnson recommended!!!
Campo Verde is my goto, though it’s more of a casual type place. Rio Mambo on Cooper is where I go when there’s an occasion to be fancy.
Campo Verde is my go-to any time I am in the Arlington area.

Their chilaquiles verdes are amazing!
Yeah I agree with this. It was talked up so much by everyone. I’ve had it twice and I’m just not that impressed
Papasitos in arlington the platio del Mar is the best it's fajitas with bacon wrapped shrimp
El Gabacho Tex-Mex Grill
El Ranchito off Cooper is damn good
I am a tex mex snob cuz I’m from Houston where it’s wayyy better! For hole in the wall good here; Paula’s- closes at 2 tho and then for just a solid excellent Texas chain- Pappasitos! Most of the places other people are mentioning use gross mass produced tortillas 🤢
I’d agree. Pappasito’s is pretty good.

That's actually the closest one to my house in Arkansas. Love the place (mainly because they have green chile).
My current favorite is blue goose cantina
Abuelos is decent tex mex… Arlington is lacking in quality tex mex imo not for lack of establishments though….
