I mean, the Air Force wasn’t founded until 1947. CPT Lindsey was a member of the U.S. Army Air Force.

Pre ‘47 is Army all day long…Army has more fighter Aces then the Air Force.

Quite a few of the official citations I've read have shaky grammar. I think they remain as recorded originally.

That's because he's not. He died. The award was posthumous. The HOH is physically laid on top of the photo.

Lindsey Air Station in Wiesbaden was named for him. It was a great little place.
