I did a gas stove (for heat) to replace a wood burning stove and then a gas log insert in a fireplace. Bought them both at the Northwest Natural Gas store and asked for recommended installers. Ended up using Columbia Heating and Cooling. I don't remember prices, but found them to be very competitive.

We did the same (NW Natural store) to do an insert and a separate gas log install. It was an easy process with smooth instillation and good communication. We went to several other shops before there and were not won over by the staff or the selection.

Call Lisac's in Miwaukie they should give you a clear answer.

I thought about doing this but ultimately decided not to because gas is hazardous to health and not good for the environment. They have really improved the look and feel of electric fireplaces and you wouldn't need to run a gas line. I might look into that first.

Thanks but I’m interested in being able to heat my home when the power is out. I definitely considered it for a second, but the gas insert is the direction we’re probably going in, mostly for emergency use. I’m definitely considering an electric furnace to replace our oil one, since our heat pump currently does most of the heavy lifting and only needs support when is around 35 degrees or so…I’m gonna be replacing that when it’s time with one that does better in lower temps because our heat pump is awesome! We can run AC all day in the summer and don’t break 100 bucks on our electric bill! It’s great.

I highly recommend Hometown Hearth and Grill.
